Thank you so much! This really helped (I've literally never thought of making a mock up oops). And wowie, that's pretty long! It really does pay off though, these designs are amazing TwT@PrinceOfMilk
thank you for the kind words! Hmm, that's a tough one as it varies from design to design when it comes to general time spent. For my most recent one (inogaku), it took me a total of 50~ hours? It is a thread however, so it's unsurprising that it took me a while to finish. The Cyril CS took me around four hours from mock-up to coding, as it's a very simple design.
However, my workflow generally doesn't vary. I initially decide on a general aesthetic I want to go for. It can minimalist, colorful, or just picking an artist to use in my designs (in inogaku's case, I decided on using Kazuaki's starry sky artbook). Next step is creating a mock up, which can start out as a sketch on my notebook or I can head straight for my desktop. Either way though, I generally make finished mock-ups on Photoshop.
Color schemes aren't really my forte unfortunately, though I will say I hate using washed out colors. Thematic CS designs are easier, as they're reliant on the base thread's themes and overall feel. Examples of these would be God Eater and Gozu. For non thematic CS designs, such as Cyril or Noel, I tend to gravitate towards monochromatic + an accent color, as I can then change the accent to fit whatever image I plan on using.
Afterwards it's coding time. I tend to have a CSS reference handy + any of my old designs where I can look up how I did a certain code (I tend to do this a lot for my cover-up accordions). I prefer using @Lyro's bbcoder as the way it's formatted is much more familiar to me than the inline-styling used in normal bbcodes.
I hope this helped! If you have any other questions feel free to ask. u w u /
I usually avoid codes like the plague but my curiosity got the best of me.
She actually has a lovely little thread of freebies here if you want!I posted a comment earlier about how much I loved your layouts and how I was going to use them sometime, but then I went back through and realized that you don't want them being reproduced. That sucks, considering there's so much inspiring work here. :/ But its all still absolutely stunning! If I could heart each post a million times, I would.
