One of the greatest examples of the Resistance’s idiocy was BB8. That small, beeping bot would lead to the downfall of their β€˜base’, if you could even call it that. An indiscreet castle on a pretty planet soon to be destroyed. Snoke had given Kylo a chance to prove himself after his little stunt, and Hux was there to breathe down his neck as always.

Beside him, the red-headed general stood with his hands behind his back, peering out of the Starkiller’s window as they went into hyperspace. β€œImbeciles.” He seemed tenser than usual. Behind the mask Kylo wore, he looked grim.

β€œWe can finally agree on something.” He was too worn out to be witty. Kylo hadn’t slept for a day now, the bags under his eyes proving that he needed to sleep.

β€œIf you weren’t so stubborn, we could agree on more things.” Hux replied back with that sharp tongue of his. The general watched Kylo with cautious eyes, but he didn’t reach for the saber on his belt or raise his hand to choke him like he always does.

β€œI don’t have time for this.” Ren surprised himself with his own maturity just as the ship got out of hyperspace. In front of them, a dormant-looking planet covered in lush greenery and splotches of water. The T.I.E fighters shot out in front of them and entered into the planet's atmosphere, there were going to be no surprises. Soon, the Starkiller followed after and landed on a flat plain of grass a few miles back from the mossy castle.

Stormtroopers marched out the hatch just as an upper tower of the palace was shot down and collapsed on itself. β€œYou know what to do.” Kylo waved off the troops and watched them shoot at members of the Rebellion. Hux stayed back, not one to get dirty, but Kylo stalked over to the entranceway with his saber out, unlit, and under the cover of his soldiers. β€œBreak down the door.” He told one of his men in that deep, modified, metallic voice.

This was the first time Aramina had ever flown a T.I.E fighter on her own. After 3 months of mandatory training, she was finally allowed to go on a mission by herself. Roy disapproved, as he disapproved of everything she wants to do that’s not on his agenda. Lucky for her, Tero managed to convince him to let her go to Hoth.

An icy planet on the outer rims seemed like heaven compared to the heated ship. All she had to protect her from the harsh weather was a tan pilot jacket given to her during flight school. The frosty surface of Hoth’s atmosphere caught the corner of her eye, and she had to marvel at it for a bit. Swirls of bright blue covered in a blanket of snowy white, it was unlike anything she had seen before.

Her landing was quick and steep, knowing that no one else inhabited the planet, she landed by a large iceberg a few meters away from where the Viper probe droid had pinged on the small monitor currently in her hand.

She would just diagnose the droid and use a manual probe to scope out the rest of the planet. No distractions, it seemed barren anyways. The blinking red dot led her up huge icy peaks she somehow managed to climb up without breaking something , and across the fields of snow so deep it reached her torso at points. Finally, amongst all the white, she spotted a black figure sticking out of some snow.

Aramina quickly dug up the bot just as it began to malfunction once more. β€œAw, shit.” The snow-covered girl cursed under her breath as she opened it’s back panel. The wires were safe but the optic probe was soaked to death, it could only rely on the Rebellion’s voices. With frigid fingers, Aramina began pulling wires and attaching them after melting the ice, unaware of how not-so-desolate Hoth really was.

Skye was ready for battle. The moment she'd heard about what was happening in Takodana, of course she volunteered to pilot one of the planes and head there to put a stop to all the madness. It may have been long since she picked up her lightsaber but the force was still strong with her, and she knew she could put it to use. Learning how to control it had been hard, and still not perfect, but in the mean time, she'd offer her assistance as a pilot and as a soldier.

She could hear Poe's voice over the intercom as they approached land, and the firing started not long after that. Skye was prepared, a devilish grin on her face because she knew the Resistance had come at a time they weren't expecting, and fighting the good fight gave Skye the biggest adrenaline rush. Of course, part of her was eager to get out in the field all the time because she hoped to run into Ben. She hadn't seen him since he joined the other side, and all she wanted was a chance to talk. A chance to show him that he could still make another decision.

Unfortunately, with those thoughts in her head, combined with the new feelings that came to her now, Skye got distracted. She sensed it. Luke Skywalker. He wasn't here, but her former master had something that belonged here. She was sure of it. In her moment of surprise, one of the wings of her jet had been targeted, and Skye lost control. She was already quite close to the ground and all Skye could hear were the sound of alarms blaring. Various lights flickered, but Skye didn't have the time to pay attention to each of them. Poe's voice could be heard as well, but she wasn't focusing on what he was asking her β€” she did her best to land the jet, and even though she crashed in the middle of the forest, Skye was β€” more or less β€” unharmed.

She couldn't say the same for her jet though. It was the least of her worries at the moment anyway. Once she climbed out from the wreckage, Skye's senses were heightened. She needed to follow that feeling. At the moment though, it was pretty vague. All she knew was that Ben was here. And something of Luke's was here too. She intended to find them both.

The place was full of stormtroopers and the sound of battle was in the air, which was why Skye pulled out her lightsaber and kept it at the ready, in case she needed to jump into action at any given moment. So far, she encountered nobody on land, mainly because she was still deep in the forest, but the closer she moved toward the heart of the fighting, the more likely it was that she'd run into a few enemies. Or, if luck was on her side, Ben himself.

Luke could feel his spirit weakening. Hunting for probes on this icy planet was bad enough, but after doing a search of the perimeter, he'd decided to check out something that looked vaguely like a meteorite crashing not very far from where he'd been standing when he spoke to Han about finding no probe droids. Thinking nothing much of it, he'd told Han to head back and that he'd follow behind soon enough, but before Luke even got the chance to investigate the meteorite, he was knocked out cold only to wake up in a cave, hanging upside down from the ceiling.

Perhaps it was definitive sound of crunching that caused Luke to stir, or maybe he'd just been unconscious for that long. Whatever it was, he was coming to, and the first thing he spotted was the large hairy creature in the corner, feasting on the remains of either a person or another animal. Judging by the size of the carcass nearby, he was going to guess animal, but that didn't in any way make him feel better about his own situation at the moment.

His lightsaber was in the snow, too far for him to reach despite his efforts to stretch, and his feet were somehow glued to the ceiling with some kind of adhesive because an attempt to try and claw himself free made no difference. Luke had one other idea though, and he just prayed it would work.

So, with eyes closed, Luke concentrated, and held a hand out in the direction of his fallen lightsaber. It began to move ever so slightly, wiggling in the snow for a little. The movement began to get stronger till it eventually flew into the palm of his hand. And at the right time too, because at that exact moment, the furry beast β€” a Wampa? Luke didn't get a proper look β€” noticed what was happening and rose to his feet, letting out a roar of rage.

Luke used his lightsaber to cut himself free and he fell to the floor. While scrambling to his feet, and also attempting to defend himself, Luke struck out with his weapon, slicing off the arm of the Wampa just as it neared him. Using the distraction to his advantage, Luke turn and fled. There was snow for miles, and he could hardly make out anything through his pounding headache, but Luke continued to run, knowing that it was the only way to keep him from succumbing to hypothermia.

Amongst the abundant mass of trees surrounding their now war-torn base, Kylo felt something. Something inexplicable. He could feel his blood pulsing down his veins, his heart beating in his chest, every cricket chirp, and birds singing.

As if everything was suddenly amplified, his senses heightened to their maximum potential. Something deep in the pit of his stomach awoke β€” the force.

It was of Kylo since the times of Ben. Under the teachings of Luke, and while he massacred his peers. But it felt different now. Much stronger and vivid.

He felt sweat bead up on the back of his neck, his bangs sticking to his face under the mask. And suddenly, in an impulsive fit, he yanked it off his head and felt his breath catch in his throat.

Why? What was happening to him? The lights in his eyes kept flickering and the loud gunshots and screaming dulled out into a mellow hum. Kylo turned on his heel to face the mountain of trees and in the distance, he heard faint footsteps coming towards him.

His troops had already entered the castle without him, and the Supreme Leader felt no anger. Slowly, he reached a gloved hand out to grip the base of his saber as the person in question came closer and closer to him. Whoever it was, this would be their last seconds alive.

Like a baby, the Viper droid was in her arms as she pinged for the diagnoses to start. 5 minutes later and it was just what she expected, damaged optics. Luckily, it was easy to fix thanks to the items she brought on the ship with her.

Aramina turned around to reach the T.I.E fighter just as the probe got up and wheeled up the hill they were situated on. "Shit, wait!" The young girl called after it once she realized it disappeared.

Up the rolling hills of snow she went, her feet freezing and her hands barely warm from the flimsy gloves. "Hey, come on, slow down!" She shouted at the droid who was following something. Finally, when she reached the top of the slope it was on, she saw what it was chasing.

A tall figure with fluffy blonde hair running through the frozen fields of Hoth. So it was inhabited. The droid started moving towards the person again, who was dressed much warmer than she was.

Aramina trailed after it cautiously, unsure if the figure was a threat or not. The cold grip of the blaster pistol tucked inside the lining of her jacket seemed to comfort her as she got closer and closer until Aramina deciphered that it was a boy around her age.

The probe stood in front of him, unable to scan him thanks to its damaged motherboard. All it had left was voice recognition. As if the Empire patch on the side of her jacket sleeve didn't give away her loyalty, the gun Aramina pulled out showed her state of mind. "Are you the only one on this planet?"

The feeling was growing stronger. Skye felt that tug deep in the pit of her stomach. It was familiar, but also new, and she knew for sure that she hadn't felt it in a long time. She allowed it to guide her, however.

In the midst of following her gut feeling, she came across two storm troopers. Within seconds, her lightsaber lit up the area around her and she jumped into action, striking at one of them before ducking just as another shot toward her head. Thanks to her training, she was quick, agile, and she was able to deal with the two rather quickly without having to use the Force.

Skye's lightsaber remained lit, however, for if she encountered two enemies, she was likely to encounter more. Part of Skye was saying she should abandon the feeling and join her fellow members form the Resistance out on the field. They needed help, and they could definitely use her, but she couldn't ignore the feeling that she was getting close to something important.

She was still surrounded by trees, though getting closer to the rubble that came about as a consequence of war β€” just one of many, that is. Skye lifted her hand, more to strike out at anything that might jump her, rather than use it as a shield, and as she emerged from behind a tree, she came face to face with someone familiar.

He stood tall, compared to her, and his clothes were all black. He had bags under his eyes but he was still as recognisable as ever. Slowly, Skye felt herself lowering her arm because this wasn't someone she wanted to fight. This was someone she wanted to reason with.

"Ben."

Luke didn't know how long he'd been walking. After running away from the Wampa's cave, he just kept going, thinking that maybe he'd find Han, though he knew the chances of that happening were slim. Who knew how long he'd been knocked unconscious and left upside down in that cave? He had no idea where he even was, on Hoth. All he saw was white, and the weather was getting stormier.

Eventually, Luke found himself feeling weaker. He was tripping over himself, his vision was getting a little blurry, and his headache persisted, though it was impossible to tell, at this point, if it had gotten worse or not. He felt numb all over.

Luke had been close to falling to his knees when something else caught his attention, and he forced himself to remain upright. As it drew closer, Luke noticed that it was a probe droid. And to think he'd done a scan of the place only to come up empty. Clearly him and Han didn't do as good of a job as they thought they did.

Following the droid was something else. No. Someone else. A person. Soon, she too came closer, and despite his blurred vision and the stormy weather, Luke could make out the Empire patch on her jacket sleeve clear as day. Even if he was close to passing out yet again, he had some presence of mind while answering her question.

"Yes, I am," he nodded, not wanting to give away the whereabouts of their base. He wouldn't even have any way of warning them.

At the moment though, his concern really should have just been staying upright, because as soon as he told her that he was more or less Hoth's only inhabitant, he felt his legs give away. His knees buckled underneath him and he fell forward in the snow, feeling the cold creeping up on him, making him even weaker.

If she knew who he was... well, he was in for a world of trouble, because he was clearly in no position to defend himself.

His throat felt like someone had dumped sand down it, and the pounding in his head got stronger. Kylo was just barely keeping his eyes open, but then, the footsteps stopped. The doe-eyes of someone he knew a long time ago peered back at him, he could see his reflection in them and the sudden red flare as he lit up his saber. "Skye."

It's been nearly a decade since he said that name. They were so close, so happy before. As young kids, you're never really thankful for the forgiving lifestyle and the joy of being free. And now, Kylo was something of a monster and Skye was long forgotten in the past.

"I'm not surprised you're with the rebels." Without the metallic voice modulator, Kylo sounded bitter. And he was. He had been the best of friends with Skye, even something a little more, and she was nothing but a traitor.

"I pity you. You're so much better than this." Beams of angry red from his saber hit the sides of his pale face, adding to the ominous and expressionless look on his face. Snoke always told him to show no mercy, and he wasn't going to.

As much as the pit in his stomach stung and the nerves in his brain tingled, the waves of his conscious lapping against his soul, telling him to join her and put everything behind him. He couldn't. He wouldn't-. "Why? Why side with them?"

The probe started blinking red as soon as he spoke up. Aramina worked on probe droids for months under the word of Tero, and that could only mean one thing; target acquired. And the target was Luke Skywalker. "For a hero, you sure look young."

She had never seen him in person and neither did her father, but Vader always spoke about him during briefings. What would Vader do if she brought him back without the help of the droid? Promote her, maybe even let her have her own ship, give her permission to leave the Starkiller whenever she wanted.

But it wouldn't sit well with her morality. The freezing Skywalker fell into the before Aramina could question him further. Before the droid could shoot she opened up its back panel and turned on its thermal mode. "He's freezing to death," She mumbled to herself, "The Rebellion must be here too."

And with that, Aramina slung his shoulder around her neck and hoisted him up, the least she could do was bring him back alive. With the help of Viper's ability to sense body heat, it took nearly 20 minutes to trudge through the snow until she came across some sort of half-hidden bunker.

There was a man standing outside what seemed to be an entrance area, and he quickly stood up once he spotted the two figures and a probe droid sent from the Empire. He was safe, but she definitely wasn't.

For a moment, it felt like Skye was in a dream. She knew the gut feeling meant something, but she didn't think it would lead her right to Ben. Regardless, this was something she'd been waiting for for nearly a decade. Now that the time had finally come, Skye felt unprepared. She didn't want to fight him, but the light that came from his lightsaber told her that maybe a fight was coming whether she liked it or not.

"So are you," Skye told him when he declared that she was better than this. "You're not on the right side of this one, Ben." Though she knew he'd changed his name, Skye couldn't bring herself to call him anything aside from the name she used when they were younger. Maybe it would help him see reason.

"Because I don't condone murder and the destruction of planets with life on them," Skye replied when he came at her with a question. "And when I knew you, that was something you never would have done either." Skye was unaware of what had made it all go wrong. She didn't know the full story. Just that one night, Ben destroyed the new Jedi Order. Everyone dead β€” except her.

"Why did you let me live, all those years ago?" Skye asked, taking a step toward him. Her lightsaber was still lowered, but her grasp tightened around the hilt. She was ready if it came down to a fight, but that wasn't the message she wanted to send across.

"I think because deep down... this can't be what you want," Skye continued trying to reason with him. "You just needed a reminder that there's another choice. And there is. And it's not too late for you to make that decision."

Had Luke not been succumbing to a hypothermic sleep, he might have replied to the woman's comment about him looking young with a witty comment of his own, but he couldn't bring himself to do that while he was close to passing out.

Luke could either be left there to die if she didn't care about what happened to him, or if she was looking to be rewarded, she would have taken him back to Vader, since it was clear who she worked for, and when she hoisted him up, Luke thought that that was what she was doing.

He wasn't in the right state of mind to actually process how much time had passed since they started walking. He was just doing his best to actually walk, even if it meant walking to his almost certain death. Eventually, however, it became clear that that was not the case.

Upon lifting his head, through his blurred vision, he made out the familiar entrance to the Rebel base. A guard was stationed, as usual, and it occurred to Luke that this girl was helping him. He didn;t understand why, but he wasn't in a position to question it right now.

The closer they got, the more voices Luke began to hear. He was still very close to succumbing to a hypothermic sleep, but her warm body beside him had kept him going till now.

"Luke?" It was Han's voice. Luke couldn't see where he was coming from because as they reached, he collapsed yet again, while a couple of rebel soldiers came forth to apprehend the woman β€” and droid β€” who'd just saved his life.

"Wait," he tried to call out, to say that she had helped him, but he couldn't get any words out because as he watched them reach for her, his vision went dark.

Kylo flinched, he knew it was coming. When she said that three-letter word gifted to him by his mother and father, the three-letter word he burned alongside the charred bodies of the people he called friends, he felt that thing in the pit of his stomach grow bigger and bigger until he nearly collapsed. "I am not on the wrong side." He snapped at her through gritted teeth, his fingers tightening along the hilt of his saber.

Kylo was like a predator hunting his prey, sulking around in circles until he finally sliced through his foes effortlessly. Except he didn't even want to go near the girl as if she were some kind of plague.

Too many memories of the past, too many screams and cries. It made him feel guilty, and he hated it. He hated feeling anything in general, and if he could he'd totally cut off his emotions.

"Yes, when* you knew me. I changed, people change. I left you alive because I thought you'd change too but you proved me wrong." Kylo sucked in a breath and forced himself to look into her eyes. "I shouldn't have. There's one choice for me, and I've been oblivious to it until now. I need to follow in the footsteps of my grandfather. That's all I care about. Not doing what's right or what's wrong, but following his legacy."

A sudden crash caused him to look up, and he spotted the main tower of the castle falling onto a group of rebels. By now, the rest of the T.I.E fighters had pushed past the Takodana atmosphere and circled around their base, and he could feel someone approaching.

Han Solo, his father.

"Wait, wait, this isn't fair, I helped him!" Aramina shouted at the guards who had her in their vice grip. Han looked at her with a mixture of disgust and worry, pulling the now unconscious Luke back to his feet so he could be taken to the medical bay.

"What, you want a thank you?" He scoffed at her, pulling the scarf around his mouth back to expose a scowl.

If Aramina was a fighter, she might've been able to wiggle out of their grasp and get in a few good hits but she was anything but a fighter. One of the guards took the blaster out of her pocket and tossed it to Han just as she opened her mouth to retaliate. "Yeah, I want a thank you, you asshole! You would've never found him buried beneath all that snow if it wasn't for me."

"Oh, thank you, Ms. Imperial Agent!" Han mocked her in a high-pitched voice just as Leia came down the corridor.

"2-1B just put Luke in a Bacta Tank for healing. This is the girl?" She informed Solo, flashing a quick glance at Aramina who was still struggling.

Han nodded and signaled for the guards to take her away to the cellar in the basement, watching the girl being dragged off kicking and screaming. "Yeah, we sent Nado and a few other men to search for her ship. The probe droid is being taken apart for experimentation. How's Luke?" The pair began to walk off to the medical ward.
