A Gift of Lilies

It's three days before the beginning of the school year at Jeguk University. High above the streets of Seoul
in a tall building within the Gangnam district, workers were busily setting up the grand opening of a new
night club called Vanity. In collaboration with the Han family's new luxury hang-out, the Choi family was to
reveal a new flavor of their world-famous soju. Only a select group of people have been invited to the first
hour of the launch party, mainly consisting of the wealthy elite and possible investors. Later on, the club
will be open to the public, for those that can afford to get in. Two of the members of F4 have been tasked
with presenting the grand opening, while the rest of the group have come for moral support (and also for
marketing purposes). As the crowd of observers grows, the boys ready themselves for a long night.

Byung-Soo moaned and pulled the covers over his head to drown out the sound of his alarm. With his right foot he poked at his phone, slowly pushing it off the bed. A loud clack notified him that the device had landed on the floor. The alarm stopped going off. He smiled absent-mindedly with his eyes still closed, snuggling into his pillow. Unfortunately, the peace only lasted for another five minutes. As he fell slowly back into his dreams, another shrill beep! beep! beep! beep! beep! resounded within the room as his phone buzzed about on the floor.

Byung-Soo made a whining sound, like a child begging not to go, before he peeled himself off of the covers and crawled to the edge of the bed, hanging over it to reach for his phone. He checked the time: 8:00pm . For a moment, he pondered going back to sleep, but the thought of Kim In-ha lecturing him endlessly, finally gave him the strength to get out of bed. His black hair was messy from the nap, and his eyes were narrowed into slits as he struggled to keep them open. Not far from his bed, to his right, there stood a glass door. He slowly made his way over to it, pulling it open and feeling around for the switch on the wall.

The ceiling lights flickered on to reveal a luxurious walk-in closet. All manner of accessories; watches, belts, rings; lay neatly within a glass case located in the center of the room. The clothes and shoes were organized first by formality, and then by color. Windows spanned across much of the space, revealing the twinkling city lights below. The last of the sun's rays were an aged yellow and bloody red, as purple clouds swept over the sky. Byung-Soo trudged across the spotless, granite flooring, and sleepily combed through his dress shirts, which hung within a mahogany shelving.

Within thirty minutes, he was ready to go. His hair was fixed into neat tousles, a kind of imperfect-perfect that was boyish yet handsome. He had opted for a loose-fitting, navy-blue, pin-striped dress shirt. The sleeves were rolled up and he left a few of the buttons undone. His dress pants were black and ended just above his ankles, and he wore simple, black penny loafers. Byung-Soo sat at the edge of his bed, checking the time on his phone once more: 8:30pm.

An hour passed and the young heir was pulling up to the new night club, Vanity, in a black Rolls Royce Wraith. As he stepped out of the vehicle he pulled out the newest model of phones developed by the Moon's, a gift from the family. 9:15pm. He texted his friends, the three other members of his little group, F4. 'Here' was all he said, as he looked up from his phone, shot a charming smile at the valet and tossed the boy his keys. Night had finally fallen. The sound of music could be heard from outside, desperately pounding against the walls of the club.

Bouncers in suits menacingly guarded the doors, but straightened up at the sight of Byung-Soo, and greeted him with respect. "Good evening sir," they said, as he opened the glass pull-push door. He shot another friendly smile,

"Hello!" Once inside, he immediately started towards the elevator.

Lee Ji Woo

Location: In the Club

A string of laughter reached Ji Woo's ears as she finished geting ready for work. Grabbing her keys from her desk, Ji Woo left her room, the door closing behind her with a soft click. Entering the living room, she was greeted by the sight of her younger twin brothers sitting in front of the television watching some animated show. In the kitchen, her mother finished cleaning the after-dinner mess. Ji Woo called out a good-bye to her family, ruffling both of the twins' hair as she passed by them. They both looked back as she passed calling out, "Bring us something back from the rich people party!" As she slipped on her shoes, she smiled and answered, "I'll see what I can find." A final call from her mother telling her to be safe drifted out the door before Ji Woo closed it.

The club was quieter than normal, but still filled with the bustling of people as they set up for the launch party. With a quick snap of her wrist, Ji Woo unfolded and neatly settled a table cloth across the surface of a cocktail table, smoothing out any lines that formed in the fabric. The manager of the club had already informed all the catering staff the of the importance of the party tonight and the need for absolute perfection. Ji Woo had almost rolled her eyes at the briefing. Anything for the rich people, she'd thought. After straightening the table cloth, Ji Woo felt the need to once again straighten her uniform. The crisp, white shirt with the catering company's name embroidered on the breast in emerald green was just a tad too small. Last minute, her friend called, asking Ji Woo to fill in for her so there was no time to find a uniform that fit and she simply used her friend's. Luckily enough, they wore similar enough pant sizes that it wasn't uncomfortable like the shirt.

"Ji Woo! Here!" Another waiter calls out to her, tossing her a black half-apron. "Thanks," Ji Woo says, tying the apron around her waist. "What else is there to set up?" The other waiter gestures over to group of waitresses, struggling with a strand of lights that were to be used as a decoration for one of the tables. Ji Woo moved quickly, assisting the girls with the de-tanglement fiasco. With the three of them, the work was quickly finished. A loud static sound startled the three girls, and they looked over to see the DJ in the booth making the final adjustments with the sound system. Seconds later, music started booming from the speakers set around the club. A quick survey of the club showed more than just staff mingling around now. Ji Woo shooed the two other waitresses off to finish last touches with the catering behind the scenes.

As Ji Woo was about to follow, she noticed a series of centerpieces that needed to adorn all the tables that were unplaced. Stifling a curse, Ji Woo grabbed the lavish ornaments, adding the finishing touch to the tables before all of the guests arrived. With the room complete, Ji Woo checked the pockets of her apron, making sure all the things she'd need to take drink orders were in place. With everything in order, she was ready.

[div class=container][div class=image][/div] [div class=hold][div class=post] [div class="tabsContent tabsContent1"] [div class=pos][div class=title]wang chaeyoung[/div] [div class=lilwords]the fish[/div][/div] [div class=text][div class=scroll] It was finally the day that she was looking forward to in such a long time. It has almost been three years since she had been diagnosed with a terminal disease. It was especially difficult between she was twenty and twenty-one. The constant in and out from the hospital until eventually she was forced to be confined to the hospital. Wang Chaeyoung had shed so much weight then that she was practically all bones, that it hurt just looking at her, especially when she didn’t even have a lot of weight in the first place. Though to others, she’s still practically skin and bones. Only those who accompanied her throughout her struggle would be able to tell that there was definitely an improvement compared to how she was before. The female truly struggled when it comes to gaining weight for her body but she at least would try to provide an illusion of appearing more larger than she really is, by constantly putting on articles of clothing or would dress in clothes that wouldn't show how frail she really was.

Now that her condition was more stable, Chaeyoung was looking forward in trying out things that she never had done before. Ever since she heard that there was a high probability that she could die, there was a part of her that accepted that death was much closer to her compared to other people. According to her doctor, individuals with her condition had an average lifespan of three to five years. Chaeyoung’s current time had been bought with money. It was only due to the fact that she was blessed to be born with a wealthy background who could afford all her medicine, treatments and doctors that she was still alive today. The question that laid before her was for how long? In her confinement, she had reached an epiphany. If there was a likely chance that she was going to die then she should at least make the most of the time that she had left. All her life, her world had only revolved around her home and the hospital and occasionally the school campus. The closest she had of knowing the world beyond what she knew was through movies and books.

Chaeyoung had decided that enough was enough. She had written down a list of all the things she would like to do. A bucket list, if you will. She was going to try and experience all the things that people her age had experienced. She had shared this to her parents, who slowly gone through the list. Her mother felt light-hearted as they read the list further. Many of the things weren’t exactly advisable to her current condition and could even accelerate her death. A very long conversation later, her doctor gone through her list and chosen what was possible in her condition. He even allowed a few with certain conditions however there were those that he mercilessly crossed out, stating that she should not attempt it unless she wanted to die sooner.

Which now brings her to the present. Chaeyoung had been allowed to dye her hair and with no haste, she had changed her beautiful dark locks to a blonde color. She had even gotten her own place. She didn’t like staying at home as everyone anxiously hovered around her. No one would let her do anything by herself. Every time they looked at her, it was as though they viewed her as glass that could shatter at any moment. However, it wasn’t possible for her to live by herself either way with her condition and obvious lack of survival skills which was why she had Yong-mi to take care of her daily needs and was a licensed nurse in case anything were to happen to her.

She laid in bed, still casually dressed in a white dress that she usually wears at home. “Yong-miiiiiii.” Chaeyoung whines, while the older female checks her current condition. “I’m okay nowwww. Can I start getting ready alreadddy.” she drawls, speaking like a child, trying to get her way. “Do you really have to go attend that event?” Yong-mi asks while fiddling with the machine. “You said it yourself that one should at least experience going clubbing once when they become legal!” She refuted. “Why are you making it sound like I’m so old? I’m only 32 years old!” she pokes her forehead.

The female pouted, cradling her forehead with her hands. This was all because she had chest pain earlier. It had caused her to palpitate- leaving no room to chance especially since she was supposed to go out today, she had to stay put in the specially-made room for her. Despite its luxurious design, she still couldn’t help associating it to a hospital room with all the different medical equipment littered around. It was made for her comfort and to deal with her condition especially when it suddenly deteriorates then they were able to conduct necessary procedures in an emergency while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. But she didn’t want to be reminded as much as possible that she wasn’t like other people, no matter how good the interior was designed. It was made to be her medical room and she had a separate room of her own without all the equipment.

Chaeyoung hated having a relapse. It was only a minor affliction. Yong-mi didn’t have to overreact too much. It wasn’t everyday that she was allowed to go clubbing. She had been eager to leave since she had woken up early for today. Yong-mi seeing that her obviously anxious to leave, tries to soothe her “It’s better you go a bit later anyway.” She speaks up, “It doesn’t really get really interesting until later. What you’re after is the experience after all.” Through her eyes, she was making confirmation that Chaeyoung wasn’t going to do anything silly when she arrived in the club later on. “You’ll have enough time to get ready and reach there when it goes into full swing.” Though she obviously didn’t convinced, she was being persuaded by her words. Song Ha-yun
[/div] [div class=textbox][div class=scroll][div class=text]Running a hand back through her hair, the model checked out her appearance in the mirror, humming in satisfaction with how she looked. She wanted to give some waves to her hair and she was glad with how it turned out, especially since she was the one doing it and not a stylist. Setting down the curling iron, she turned it off and reached for her makeup bag where she pulled out her signature red lipstick. The woman always put it on last since she was paranoid about messing it up. Once it was on, she smiled slightly, pleased with her whole look. Still, she had to get dressed which was a problem all on its own. When the woman had been invited to the opening night of Vanity, she was excited to just experience it at as a club, but her parents were also notified about its opening which meant they had a date all picked out for their daughter.

His name was Park Seong-ho and he was the top lawyer at her family's law firm, much to the annoyance of Ha-yun. Because she was now going to the opening night with a man that was certainly not going to let her have fun and go wild. And she had an image to uphold which also meant that she couldn't wear what she wanted. It was really inconvenient but, that was okay with her, or at least she tried to convince herself she was okay with it. Looking through her closet, she ended up selecting a little black dress that she had purchased only a few days ago and planned to wear out clubbing one day. Slipping the silk robe from her figure, the woman put on the dress, making sure it fit just perfectly.

She paired it with a simple necklace that she had gotten from one of her many suitors, a black purse and her favorite black heels. Ha-yun was a very thorough woman when accessorizing so it was no surprise that she changed her phone case to her plain black one in order to match her entire outfit. Everything seemed to be in place, so she texted Seong-ho that she was ready, getting a text within seconds that stated he would be in front of her place within ten minutes. She killed time on her phone, making sure to only leave her apartment once the lawyer had arrived, mostly because she was paranoid about any stalkers possibly lurking in the bushes.

Ha-yun smiled charismatically at the man, admiring the way he looked. Honestly, the man was quite attractive and he was definitely the type of guy she wouldn't mind going to events with. They had known each other for a long time and this was certainly not their first date. "You clean up so nice Oppa, I almost didn't recognize you." She placed a soft kiss on the man's cheek, careful to wipe away any lipstick stains before she crossed her arms, having underestimated the temperature of the night.

"Ha-yun, you look beautiful, as usual." Seong-ho grinned lazily as he took off his suit jacket and draped it around the small woman's frame, his hand soon taking one of hers. "Come on, let's get going. I don't need my date freezing to death." Laughing softly, Ha-yun allowed Seong-ho to hold her hand as he helped her into the car, making sure to close the door before he went over to the driver's side. The drive was a decent one but the conversation they had made up for it. They were discussing mainly her classes and her plans for after graduation, which she was always excited to talk about. She was looking forward to it being her last year, especially since she'd be able to escape her suffocating family.

Upon arriving at the club, the model had a big smile on her face, quite excited about the prospects of trying the new soju and enjoying clubbing, even if she was with basically a hot babysitter. Checking herself out in the mirror, she made sure to run her hand back through her hair at least once, relaxing the waves so they seemed more natural and like she didn't have to try for the look. She allowed her bangs to fall almost across her eye, it gave her look more of a sultry feel to it, which was always appreciated. The door was opened and Seong-ho held out his hand, helping her out of the car with a playful smile. Of course, Ha-yun's own expression had turned to her trademark one, mostly used during her photoshoots.

Her rbf was rather attractive to most people and she gave off the aura of someone that knew just how desired she was. Looping her arm with Seong-ho's, the pair made their way to the entrance of the club, not really paying attention to any stares they might have been getting. It probably sounded self-centered, but Ha-yun was used to all the attention, it had surrounded her since birth. When they arrived in front of the bouncers, they passed by with a smile flash of her smile and they disappeared inside the club. Looking around, Ha-yun tried not to smile, mostly out of disbelief that someone spent so much money on a club. It was wild. "Well Ha-yun, let's have some fun yeah? Just be careful not to drink too much." Seong-ho whispered as they entered the elevator.

"I know, I'll be fine." Taking off the suit jacket, she handed it back to Seong-ho and fixed her dress. Well, there was no harm in showing off a bit of skin right? The couple weren't the first to arrive, so naturally, there were quite a few people already mingling, the music traveling throughout the entire building. Ha-yun immediately began to look at everyone that had arrived, pleased that she had dressed a bit more scandalous than the other women. It seemed like a lot of them were wearing floor-length dresses that kept them well covered up and reserved. The astonished looks she got simply added to her always growing ego, and she couldn't help but smile at some of the guys she caught staring at her. It was going to be a fun night.[/div][/div][/div] [/div][/div] [div class="codetag"]coded by ukiiyo[/div]

Feng Huiying
Location: Vanity Night Club | Interacting with: N/A | Mood: Anxious
A LOUD CLANG jerked Feng Huiying from her fitful sleep, causing the girl to bolt upright in instinctive panic. Her eyes, still groggy with sleep, blinked rapidly as she staggered to her feet, searching wildly for the source of the noise. It was only when her gaze landed on a stack of fallen textbooks by her bedside table did she let out a breath she didn't she'd been holding. What had she expected? A burglar who was dumb enough to rob a student dorm? Everyone knew that the people with real money at Jeguk University lived off campus. In mansions that could rival the size of the school itself. As the rush of sudden adrenaline wore off, Huiying could feel the fatigue settling in. Rubbing her eyes with one arm, and stretching her body with the other, she let out a huge yawn. Her bed was damn comfy right now, but she didn't have time more time to nap. The past weeks of her internship had been absolute chaos; filled with drafting then re-drafting reports and blueprints, as well as triple-checking the structure’s algebraic calculations. The entire one hundred strong engineering team had been working double time to ensure the Vanity Night Club would be ready for the grand opening tonight. Where, the rich host family would get congratulated for a successful project in which they did little to nothing for. That was one of the many things that irked Huiying about the corporate world. The wealthy provided the funds for everything, sat back and relaxed as everyone slaved away, then claimed full credit for their “innovative ideas.” Even though she knew better than to demonize the rich -- since, many of them were genuinely nice people -- they just seemed so...clueless. It was as if they believed the world righteously revolved around them, just because their bank account had more zeros than everyone else's. Although, to be fair, they did invite the the project’s staff committee to the opening party. Which, I suppose is better than nothing. Instead of being just another name on a twenty page document, they’d at least their work come to fruition. The product of an entire year’s worth of blood, sweat and tears. As Huiying finished her stretches, she cast a quick glance at the clock. 8:45 pm. When do the doors close again? She racked her brain briefly before recalling a rather precarious time. 9:20. The doors close at 9:20. She had approximately forty five minutes to get dressed, hop on a bus and arrive at the club’s doors before they started the event. Crap. I am so screwed. Cursing herself for losing track of time, she dashed to the bathroom, where she promptly raced through the world’s fastest shower, changed into the fanciest clothing she owned and put on a minimal amount of makeup. It wasn’t like anyone was going to give another face in the staff committee crowd a second glance, so she figured her appearance didn’t quite matter. (So as long as she didn’t stick out like a sore thumb). She had chosen a loose-fitting white dress that draped over her body like a huge t-shirt. It was semi-casual in nature, simple and (most importantly) comfortable. Only God knew how long the night was going to be. Huiying had also packed a messenger bag in preparation for the oncoming boredom she was sure to appearance. In it were her essentials; a copy of Structural Analysis to read, some pens/highlighters, a notebook and a clip on book reading light in case it was too dark to see.The club wasn’t exactly her scene. She’d never found much appeal to the subpar dance music, throng of sweaty bodies and creepy guys that lurked in the corners. What was there to like? Barely having enough room to turn around? Making out with random strangers who could potentially have herpes? Huiying would much rather have stayed home to watch a film or read a novel now that she was almost done with her internship. Slinging the messenger bag over her shoulder, she quickly left the dormitory, making the five minute trip from the campus to the bus station. There, she managed to catch 9:05 pm bus. The drive to Vanity took a little over ten minutes (as it too was located near the heart of Seoul) and she arrived at the club’s doors by 9:18. Exhaling a sigh of relief, Huiying quickly made for the entrance, which was flooded by a starry-eyed crowd, clearly eager to get in for the after party. She was among the last people to arrive (much to her embarrassment). After being brought up by the elevator, Huiying stared at the masses of people before her. It was only then when the anxiety started creeping in -- despite her best efforts to blend with the crowd, she felt acutely out of place in this grand party with its classy attendees.

The smell of freshly brewed coffee wafted gently through the kitchen, soothing and warm, wrapping the room in a healing atmosphere. It was a beautiful scent to match a beautiful taste — and, of course, it would be. It cost about the monthly salary of a minimum wage worker per bag, after all.

Ryu-Tae sipped on the liquid money in his cup as he scrolled through his unread messages from the previous night. Light streamed down from the chandelier-esque lamps above, painting his eyes in amber light and making it difficult for anyone to see what he was really thinking as he wordlessly read through text after text. It was mostly confirmations from various parties that everything was going well for the opening party for Vanity that he and Min-Su were holding that night.

He wasn’t worried, per se. He had enough confidence that he had mapped out the event well enough for things to go smoothly, as long as all the staff involved don’t mess up significantly. Still, he meticulously checked the photos of the venue sent from the man who was in charge of setting up, sharp gaze scanning for any minute mistakes. Satisfied, after looking through all the messages, that all was well...at least, thus far, Ryu-Tae finally shifted from his statue-like stillness to stand up and stretch.

He headed upstairs leisurely, coffee in hand, to start getting ready. The master bedroom was basically the only, exorbitantly huge, room on the second floor because he had the apartment renovated (or, really, rebuilt) as such. Ryu-Tae had no live-in staff, despite his mother’s protests, so the house was always empty and peaceful. Ideally.

As he opened the door, however, reality proved itself much otherwise. A tall figure stretched across his bed, inexplicably taking up all the space on the king-sized space and messing up the neatly arranged pillows and blankets underneath him. If this was a cartoon, Ryu-Tae’s face might have literally turned dark as he kicked the too-long legs dangling off his bed.

“Oi, Moon Dae-Hyun,” he drawled, placing a slender hand on his hip as he stared down at the creature he, unfortunately, called friend, “can you get out of my sight already?”

An exaggerated groan of pain was the initial response to the familiar cold words of his dear friend. The sudden force against his legs jolted him enough to unsettle the smartphone in his hand and sent it straight to his beautiful face. Rubbing away at his nose, quite comically, Dae-Hyun propped himself up with his elbows letting his pained expression slip into something of a lazy seduction.

“Finally decided to join me, Oppa~? I was getting lonely without you,” the tone matched his expression and he patted the spot next to him.

Ryu-Tae put on a faint sneer as he placed down his cup on the bedside table, deliberately staying far away from Dae’s spine-chilling act. After way too many years of knowing the other, he’d become mostly numb to it… or rather, he’d accepted that he was pretty much helpless to stop it.

“Oppa has no time for you,” he scoffed, plopping down on the edge of the bed. His voice was cold and scathing enough to break an actual girl’s heart and send her packing but, unfortunately, this was Dae. Though Ryu-Tae had the sinking feeling that he was going to be stuck with the other man for the foreseeable future, he still took it upon himself to ask, “Aren’t you going back home to get changed?”

The smallest of pouts settled itself on Dae’s lip once he was met with Ryu’s back. Being ignored was a far bigger blow to his heart than the virulent tongue he was usually met with. Honestly, at this point, Ryu-Tae’s usual heartlessness was more of sweet talk to Dae-Hyun than bullets to the heart.

Being addressed again by his dearly beloved perked him up a bit and he gave a nonchalant shrug despite not being seen. Mentions of getting changed drew his attention to a digital clock (provided by Moon Technologies) and he groaned again at the time: 8:15 pm.

“We’re close enough in size Ryu, let me borrow something.” Dae-Hyun replied while standing up from his lying position and walked to the closet that was more like a second bedroom, “Jesus, it’s like a clothing store in here.”

“Just because it looks like it, doesn’t mean you should treat it like one,” Ryu-Tae countered with a roll of his eyes but made no move to actually stop his friend from doing exactly that.

A smirk pulled at his lips but the banter forming on his tongue was silenced by the sound of his phone ringing. Slipping the phone out of his pocket and glancing at the screen was enough to send his face into a deep scowl. With a quick and obvious irritation in his gait, he exited the closet, the bedroom and entered into the hallway in a mere passing moment.

“Hello?” The tone of his voice was cold and far removed from the warmth and familiarity it held when teasing Ryu-Tae.

A brief chuckle was the initial sound that met his ears and it did little to ease the tension that had snuck its way into his muscles, “Is that anyway a son should greet his father?”

Dae-Hyun couldn’t help but scoff in response, hoping the man heard it clearly, but if he had he chose not to react.

“Anyways, I’m calling to remind you that this event is more than just a chance for you to mess around with your friends. There will be important investors and reporters present, make yourself useful and start gaining support and interest for the launch happening next month.”

“Sure.” The reply was simple, not that Moon Jaesuk was really looking for a reply. After all the current head of the Moon family expected everyone to act after given instruction, the words in response were just flair that time wasn’t allocated for. As such was confirmed by the sound of the dial tone following the abrupt end of the call.

“It’s always the same.” Dae-Hyun reminded himself as he took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly shaking away the heat of irritation that crept up his neck. A comfortable neutral expression unseated the mischief as he entered back into Ryu’s room, “You work quickly. Have you picked out my outfit too Tae-Tae?”

When Ryu-Tae saw the look on Dae’s face as he left, he could already guess what kind of conversation the man was going to have. Instead of worrying over it as part of him was tempted to do, he stood up to busy himself with getting dressed up.

A black suit, a little… or quite a bit more on the hip-hop side of fashion than his usual look was what his sister, Joo-Ri, had chosen for him. She had whined about not being able to go and getting to use him as a Ken doll was apparently the only thing that could appease her. And, so, he had spent hours getting dragged around to various shops by her last weekend for the “perfect” outfit. Though honestly speaking, he didn’t mind what she had decided on in the end — it fit the club’s vibe well, which was important considering he was its technical representative.

Ryu-Tae had been in the middle of wrapping a black Rolex around his wrist when the reemergence of Dae’s voice caused him to look up. His knee-jerk reaction was, of course, to snarkily decline. But, studying the boy, it seemed like the call had been as frustrating as he had imagined it would be and so, instead, he replied, “Do it yourself.”

That was basically as good as permission and it was made even more obvious when, instead of completing his outfit with the jacket, he went over to one of the glass closets and opened it up. When they were young, in the park playground, it used to be snacks that Ryu-Tae used to silently perk up Dae. Now, it was the exact same idea, just with far more expensive things — including getting to sleep on his bed like last night, which should really have cost Dae his life and a half, in Ryu-Tae’s opinion.

He took out some neatly hung clothing, those that were a little longer than normal on him, and threw them in Dae’s face, adding, “Hurry it up, we have to go.”

There weren’t enough words in the world to express the appreciation he felt for Ryu-Tae, but it’d be a feeling he would carry with him regardless of where life took them. Dae caught the clothes easily offering an excited smile to his best friend that hopefully expressed some of that appreciation before getting to work on his appearance.

Which didn’t take long considering the meticulously crafted items that fit like they were made specifically for him. Dae smoothed his hands over the black jacket swiping fingers through his hair for a moment before meeting Ryu downstairs in the kitchen brandishing the key to his favorite car.

“Let’s go Knight Han your chariot awaits.”

[div class=tag]outfit[/div] here. [/div] [/div] [/div] [div class=right] [div class=scroll] The engine hummed a satisfied last note as min su eased the bright orange car from its previous break-neck speed into a crawl as the venue came into sight. He turned into the space alongside the club, clicked the keys from the engine and watched as the valets jumped to enraptured attention.

"Take care of her, please," he murmured towards the man - a boy, really if his appearance was any indication - who took his keys. "I'm counting on you. " he half-joked, making brief eye contact as he slipped a hundred dollar bill into the space between his palm and the keys. His reward was the valet's eyes lighting up like a literal Christmas tree, min su chuckling low into his palm as he made his way towards the other side of the car to open the door for mishil.

As soon as his eyes touched hers, min su found himself falling back into that odd, uncharacteristic awkwardness he'd felt the whole ride to the venue. He still wasn't sure how to talk to her, wasn't even sure if he even wanted to talk to her. That confusing jumble of feelings that he currently associated with his fiancee flooded his skull, min su sucking in a deep breath as he pushed those thoughts away to be resolved later. He averted his eyes skyward, a nervous half-chuckle breaking into the nighttime air as he offered mishil an arm before heading in. Past the bouncers, past a cheering group of excited people, and up the elevator he went.

Already Vanity was alive, the floor filled with an invigorating mix of familiar and unfamiliar faces. Although min su itched to join the crowed movements on the floor, a glance at his watch quickly let him know this wouldn't be an option. It was almost time for the less exciting part of the evening.

min su forced eye contact with mishil, awkwardly twisting the corner of his sleeve between his finger as he spoke, keeping his voice even. "Did you want me to get you a drink before the - Before everything?"

Whatever response she may have uttered was cut off by the lights flickering for just a moment by timer, the cue for him to set the stage. min su's eyes nervously seeking out ryu-tae's in the crowd as he made his way to front stage, took his rightful place. Already, he could see people's eyes gravitating towards the girl at his side, the whispering starting low and discomforting. That wouldn't do, considering his place in all this tonight was to offer clarity.

"Good evening, everyone!" min su curled a hand around the mic as he spoke, pushing his lips up into an easy smile as he allowed a pause as everyone snapped into quiet attention. "First off, I want too officially welcome you to the grand opening of Vanity. More on that in a second with Ryu. But tonight everyone here as been given a rare opportunity, courtesy of the choi family," at those words the double doors behind him opened and out came a group of servers with trays in hand complete with small glasses reminiscent of shot glasses of a clear, peach-colored liquid.

"you'll all be given a chance to early sample the latest flavor of our world-famous soju. This one has hints of citrus, peach. The name is pretty predictable from there, I think, citrus-peach," he let out a soft chuckle before continuing. "regardless of naming, it's a flavor years in the making. Please, enjoy." he motioned with his free hand and the servers dispersed amongst the crowd.

"this event is kind of doubling as two announcement parties for my family tonight. So before I let Ryu steal the show, I'd like to formally announce that my guest," a pause to acknowledge the girl at his side, hand curling into a fist that bit into his palm. "my guest tonight is not only an honorary guest of the choi family, but my soon-to-be wife, Mishil Adlawan." whatever reaction that bit of news garnered, min su barely heard it as he handed off the mic and exited the spotlight. There was an enigmatic, cold, glint in his eyes as a waitress approached him. "Eoseo-eosoyo (welcome)! Would you like a sample sir?" She held a tray filled with shots of soju. The man looked over at the girl, staring into her eyes for a moment with his smoldering gaze. She blushed suddenly and looked away, and a sly smile appeared on his soft lips.

"Of course." His hair was black and carefully groomed with product and his eyes were a deep brown. He wore a clean, white, dress-shirt and green and blue, plaid, chinos. The man took a glass from the tray and thanked the young waitress. Kyung-Tae started towards the crowd, finding a spot behind everyone, where he could still see and hear the speeches. There was a spread of tall tables where he was able to set his drink down. The announcement of the arranged marriage came as a surprise to him, and it he was incredibly curious to know more about this Mishil Adlawan and what kind of business her family was in.

The crowd applauded as the speeches came to an end. Kyung-Tae put on a smile and clapped alongside them, bringing his hands together thoughtfully. As the mingling began, he decided to find a seat where he could still, comfortably observe the event. He sauntered over to a table with long, cushioned seats, the soju still in his hands.

It was some time before the one who he was here for, finally noticed his presence. As the members of F4 approached him, Kyung-Tae could not hold back his growing, wicked smile.

[div class=container][div class=image][/div] [div class=blk][div class=title]Jin Byung-Soo [div class=line][/div] [div class=lil]the azure dragon[/div][/div] [div class=b][div class=lilimage][/div][/div] [div class=info] [div class=post][div class=scroll] Byung-Soo stood in the front row of the crowd with Dae-Hyun, listening to Ryu-Tae and Min Su gives their speeches. He was not surprised to hear about the arranged marriage, as the boys had all been made aware of it days ago; although he hadn't had the chance to actually meet Min Su's new fiancee`. The idea of being set up with a girl from another family wasn't shocking, in fact is was quite normal in their world.

As Min Su ended the speeches and the crowd applauded, Byung-Soo excitedly clapped his hands, cheering his friends as if they were actually his own children. He was so proud of them that night, wowed by the magnificent design of the club and presentation of the new soju. He ran up to the boys and pulled them into a big, group hug, and praised them endlessly. "You both did so good! I'm so proud! The soju tastes great and the club is absolutely beautiful!"

Byung-Soo was only slightly buzzed from the number of shots he'd already downed, but in his defense, he just wanted to support his friends. He got drunk with the boys often, but tonight was special and he wasn't about to let anything ruin the launch of the club or the new soju.

The mingling progressed and Byung-Soo found himself excited for the after-party, where they could truly celebrate and let loose. He was socializing with a guest when he finally noticed a familar, unnerving figure in the distance. He tried his best to seem interested in the present conversation, but he couldn't help glancing back multiple times. Kyung-Tae...

Byung-Soo quickly found the rest of the boys, "Hey. Kyung-Tae is here." His usual laid-back demeanor had vanished, now replaced with a serious gaze that the boys rarely saw. "I'm going to see why he decided to come." He immediately started towards his cousin, wordlessly insinuating that the boys should follow behind.

As children, Byung-Soo and Kyung-Tae were raised together in a private estate outside of Seoul. Although they technically lived in the same house, interactions between them were not tolerated and often met with criticism and punishments by Tae's mother. She resented Byung-Soo's mother, who she felt, stole her inheritance and took away attention from their father. She blamed Jin Ara for everything wrong in her life and in continuation, hated anyone connected to her, and that included Byung-Soo; And so the boys were never able to develop much of a relationship.

Once, in high school, Byung-Soo had invited the members of F4 to his aunt's estate, where he still lived at the time. It was the first time they had ever visited, and it would be the last. They ran into Kyung-Tae in the living room, who jealously tried to manipulate and steal Byung-Soo's friends. The smug look on his face was quickly wiped away by Dae Hyun's fist, and the boys swiftly fell into chaos. Byung-Soo's aunt, Dal-rae came into the room, furious and cooing over her precious son, whom she doted on heavily when she wasn't abusing the bottle.

"How dare you touch my Kyung-Tae! Do you even know how lucky you are that I let you live in this place? I have one rule in this house (not to interact with Kyung-Tae) and you can't even do that? Do you think that anyone else would take you? You stupid, selfish, child." With one hand on her hip, she firmly slapped Byung-Soo. His messy, black hair, hid his face and despite her cruel words, he said nothing. He was usually rambunctious, playful and flamboyant, but in that moment, he was completely silent. "I don't know what that old man even sees in you or your... mother." Her lips curled in disgust at the thought of his mother, and she spoke as if the thought of her actually made her nauseous. The smell of alcohol drifted from her breath and touched his face. She was clearly unstable and drunk, because when she stepped forward, her ankle twisted and she fell down, screaming.

Byung-Soo quickly tried to help his aunt up, although she had just said all those terrible things. She swat at him, even more furious now. "Don't touch me! Don't touch me you filthy-" Kim In-Ha, Byung-Soo's nanny, suddenly appeared, pushing him back. She turned to the boys.

"You should leave for now. I'll take care of her." Byung-Soo nodded gratefully, and led his friends out of the house. He never brought them over again, and he never spoke of the incident. Instead of admitting the difficulties of his home life, Soo would change the subject and simply pretend everything was alright. He never wanted the boys to worry about him. Kyung-Tae was of course mortified that someone had seen his mother in this state, and thus grew to resent them all since that day.

All these memories came flooding back as Byung-Soo walked closer and closer to Kyung-Tae, with the members of F4 following closely behind. His cousin was smiling when they reached him, a glass of soju in his hands. "Kyung-Tae, what are you doing here?"

The club interior was a blend of opulence and modernism, with a hint of conservatism. Somehow it was a perfect reflection of the sea of faces, young and old, familiar and strange, but all of them rich or influential, or both, like Dae-hyun, was.

Who, unlike his more poised friends, was knocking back his third drink from one of the smaller bars he had “stumbled” upon while doing his best to avoid the“pre-announcements” mingling. The phone in his pocket had been practically buzzing non stop since his shiny black shoes had stepped foot into the elevator. Jin-ae, one of his father’s assistants, had been sending him a list of asses to kiss before he was to “act foolishly”. Though the continuous buzzing was only encouraging more consumption of the clear liquid that burned down his throat, it was like a drinking game!

Is she calling me now? Can’t I just have fun?

The heavy glass made a soft clunk as it returned to the polished wood. The bartender was attentive, spurring to action as the glass entered back into her domain, she was ready to pour him another. Dae signaled the bartender to keep pouring as he fished out his phone, “That should be enough. Have fun tonight, I know I will.” Dae stood up letting the expensive device slip from his hands and smoothly into the liquid. With a wink, he turned and left the surprised-looking bartender to wander through the venue again.

Dae-hyun wasn’t particularly interested in listening to speeches, nor did he have any interest mingling amongst a group of people not suited to his “taste”. After all, he wasn’t in line to inherit anything from his father, if the man couldn’t leave a lifetime of grief and hardships Dae-hyun wasn’t getting a damn thing. So what could relations built on the foundations of ulterior motives provide him? Still, Dae-hyun found himself at the front of the crowd, a smug smile painted on his lips and already the faint scent of alcohol wafted from him as Minsu appeared before the hungry crowd of sharks.

The peach soju was a nice treat after the few shots of unflavored vodka he had just consumed. But the surprising news following it was a treat to his ears, his eyes traveling to gauge the expression of their “leader”, but only saw his unbridled excitement, which got a brief chuckle from him. When Minsu exited the spotlight and passed it on to Ryu-Tae, Dae made sure to get his friend’s attention as he mouthed “OPPA~!!” and paired it with an appropriate excited fanboy expression before disappearing into the crowd.

There was a reshuffle of bodies as people broke off to congratulate the newly announced couple. Dae appeared before Minsu and Mishil with his hands full of champagne flutes and a controlled smile on his face. Something pleasant and charming enough without really meeting his cold eyes. Despite her newly formed tie to his friend, he wasn’t interested in really getting to know her.

“I didn’t realize you had expanded into the business of secret-keeping as well Minsu, you handsome bastard.” There was an extra quality to his tone, a conspiratorial hint accenting the sarcasm,” Congratulations you two, here-“ he passed them each a flute reaching around to grab extra flutes for Knight Han and Byunnie,” a toast, to successful launches and marriages for greater wealth.” Dae plastered on a sneer disguised as a wide smile and ‘clinked’ his glass against his friends skipping over hers before downing the contents, “I’ll catch up with you boys later, seems I have some rounds to take. Later.”

Once the second bar was checked and verified for quality, and his steps felt a little heavier than before Dae was off to bother Ryu, spending the entire night avoiding people interested in talking to him was getting boring. With eyes scanning the room he wasn’t paying much attention to his immediate surroundings and shoulder checked someone, it was rough enough to abruptly bring his attention back in front of him.

Out of reflex, he shot a hand out helping to steady the girl he had knocked into, “Looks like we both need to pay more attention to where we’re walking.” A half-hearted, mostly empty, chuckle followed the words he put, maybe, half a thought into. For whatever there was a weird pang in his chest as he looked at her face, she was definitely familiar, the cleared throat next to him pulled his hand away from her arm and his eyes trailed to her hand. The only ring adorning her right ring finger was another pang and his eyes shot back up to hers, this time he was studying her face. It couldn’t be.

Fate wasn’t that cruel, was it?

Dae-hyun wasn’t afforded any more time to question the girl, a rough hand was shoved into his chest, that flared his anger, but also caught him off guard enough to stumble him backward and effectively spill his drink on the innocent person at the table behind him.

“You okay Ha-yun?”

The name wasn’t enough to confirm his suspicions, even though it should have been, but if she was who he thought she was, he’d hope this was the last time they crossed paths. Dae didn’t bother with getting into it with the asshole that shoved him and instead turned to apologize for getting his drink on the innocent bystander, but what… was she doing homework?

“Are you often doing classwork in clubs?"
