The whole arc would definitely go down at a later date where Keith is aware of the condition, but I think Haley would undergo a pretty drastic personality change. I'm quite grateful that you put her in Slytherin now, otherwise this wouldn't have been possible. I think the general arc length would be about two-three days, but the effects on Hailey thereafter would be much lengthier, I also agree, character development is the best thing ever, as such, Hailey's POV:
-Hailey - after finding out about Belladonna's lycanthropy - is threatened by her rival to keep quiet about the information, lest she suffer the consequences. Now Hailey is feeling undeterred, she's a little afraid sure, and doesn't speak up against Bella, but after so many years she see's this as a very real opportunity to get rid of the biggest thorn in her life. Ignoring Bella's warning, Hailey promptly informs Horace Slughorn of her rival's affliction; who doesn't even consider the possibility that what Hailey is saying could be true, the Head of Slytherin - knowing all too well of their rival - chastises Hailey for spreading absurd rumours and warns her it's out of her character to lie to a Professor.
- Now this irritates Hailey hugely, she's trusted Slughorn in the past due to his Equal beliefs on blood purity, but after his brazen dismissal of Hailey in favor of Belladonna, she not only begins to question his competence, but also her position. She begins to feel hopeless, powerless, Belladonna has an army at her back with Slytherin whereas Hailey is essentially a nobody; the realization that Belladonna is a literal monster yet has the nerve to talk down on her seems to make something in Hailey just snap. In the past, Belladonna was just a "Pureblood" bully, who thought she was better. Yet the reality was her greatest harasser was a rapid mut, a bloodthirsty beast.
-She sets out to find Belladonna in broad daylight, the previous fear of her rival is gone and when she does track the werewolf down she's in the company of her little posse of supremacists, Val, Seb, and other Slytherin purebloods, The sight doesn't unnerve Hailey in the slightest, all she feels is anger and a deep desire for justice to be brought to Bell, quite brazenly, Hailey openly challenges Bell in broad-daylight with a whole corridor of people watching. She goes off on Bella over her true affliction, calling her a monster, an abomination, insists that people with her disease don't belong in a Wizarding school. (normally Hailey would never believe these things, but this is Dark Hailey >) Of course, things don't go as planned when instead of biting, Belladonna and her group just laugh at the muggleborn like she's the greatest comedian on the planet - something which causes the rest of the onlookers to join in, at Hailey's expense.
-Then things get bad, Hailey is completely overcome by unfiltered rage, hate takes over, and multiple years of relentless abuse at the hands of Slytherin Supremacists just causes her to explode; she instinctively tries to blast Belladonna with the Blasting Curse which is essentially a literal explosion, a magical grenade. A spell of the Dark Arts which goes againt everything Hailey believes in... What she didn't anticipate however, was Val shielding Bell and taking the full-brunt of the curse. By this point, everyone descends into hysteria - Hailey feels lightheaded and sick to the core - she wants to scream, regret and guilt seem to drown her in anguish, but upon realizing what she's done, she runs from the scene likely out into the Forbidden Forest. In the course of a few minutes, she manages to break 5 School Rules, potentially lose her place at Hogwarts, and break her code of being good. She promised to never hurt an innocent and she just did, she hated the Dark Arts and she just used them; the problem is though, it empowered her.
-Hailey found joy in hurting Val, because he was so close to Bella. It felt good to get revenge, but more strikingly it was a symbolic backlash to the entirety of the Slytherin house for the last 5 years. No matter how guilty she felt, how sick she was, or how hard she sobbed, Hailey enjoyed it. After a few hours, she'd found by one of the Professor's who escorts her back to undergo a full interrogation at the hands of McGonagall, Horace Slughorn, and whoever is supposed to act as the "Therapist" of Hogwarts. Hailey essentially gives the whole truth - leaving out the werewolf part - and explains her feelings, actions, and for the most part she wins them over. Though her record of behavior is essentially destroyed, and she's closer to being expelled she ever thought possible, she's allowed to stay at Hogwarts. Whether or not anything else was done by the Professor's would be up to Aster.
-She returns to school life but is more shut-off than even before, becoming almost unapproachable. She's consistently in a much colder, darker mood, and now has a tendency to snap at people. I can imagine that when keith confronts her over it, she'd either be hyper-defensive, or hyper-aggressive even towards him, due to his growing closeness with Bella (they could even have a very real fallout depending on IC). She's become far more bitter, and now resents the school for not putting her into a different school at the start. She'd probably also turn on Penelope a little bit, thinking she was always on Bella's side over her own; but this would be a brief belief, which wouldn't last - Killian (and maybe Quinn) would be the only person who Hailey would want to talk to, since he isn't exactly a saint to begin with. He's the only person who wouldn't judge her, because his moral compass is just shades of grey to begin with, which would be exactly what she needs. Over time, though, Hailey begins to mold into her old self again, no longer timid, and a little more realistic, but still her.
And wow I type waaay too much. I can't help it... >.<
