DEATH’S KISS

A long time ago there was an outbreak. A virus. Scientists developed this virus but what they didn’t know that it was dangerous for human kind. They started testing it on small animals, leaving them alone for a couple of days yet nothing happened until the third one. The animals that were hurt, were completely healed, the scratches on their body disappeared as if it never was there. Surprised by the sudden development, they scratched one of them but nothing happened, the virus had already died after healing the host. Realizing that this could be a cure for all kinds of diseases, they reported their process to the government who couldn’t believe their eyes. Weeks of testing went by and eventually they went over to making it public to the people in the world. They put the liquid in small doses in bottles and brought them out on the market, doctors were allowed to use it for healing treatments. The world seemed to become a better place. Diseases were slowly fading away to non-existence. Little did they know that they unleashed death. Weeks went by and there were changes in some people who had gotten the medicine. It were not a lot of them, they were in smaller numbers.

Their body temperature became colder. They had difficulty with focusing and it did not last longer anymore before the first “deaths” were fallen. But despite having died, mere seconds later, they opened their eyes once again. Their temperatures had dropped to lower numbers, their skin was paler than normal, their eyes a red-ish colour. A burning feeling in their throats when they came by, some attacking bystanders by sinking their teeth into the flesh of their human companions. Some went into shock because of what they had done once they regained consciousness about their actions. The first ten minutes were the most dangerous ones. The world leaders were devastated by the happening and detained all those that transformed into these monsters. Locking them up far away in the deepest places of their prisons. Countries had to build special enforced ones to keep them under control.

These monsters were tested in secured environments. They noticed these things about them:
> They can resist sunlight, but their skin will be irritated if they’re in it for a longer period of time.
> Unlike humans, they need to feed on blood from living beings (animals and humans).
> Their skin cannot be pierced by normal weapons, only by wooden stakes and weapons of pure silver.
> They can grow fangs, mostly triggered when in combat or when they are about to feed themselves.
> Their hearing and sight are far better than humans.
> They’re faster and stronger than the average human being.

Once people got to know about this, they were scared about them going on rampages and killing towns people. They didn’t know how they should react to it. The leaders knew that, but despite the alarming abilities of these creatures they decided to use them as weapons in wars. A survival of the fittest. They were given the name of Vampires. Years went by and the population of Vampires decreased significantly due to the wars. Giving their lives for stupid causes and not being able to do anything against it. Humans evolved and gotten to know how they could get stronger than these monsters with technology. Eventually these Vampires were released once the wars were over but the adjustment to the new world was far more harsh as it was not like it used to be. Having lived in environments were one had to be cautious about everything was now gone and they could just go back to their “normal” lives.

Some ended their lives, others couldn’t adjust and became criminals and another group lived under the radar. Humans were still afraid of them but didn’t show it as much. They just kept their distance. Though there were some cases who got to accept the fact that they existed and treated them like any other being.

In the year 2018 however things started to change. A certain organization of Vampires started to rebel against the government who were letting Vampire Hunters on the loose. Even the slightest mistake would get the Vampires be killed. They were not really free. So that was why Organization V was made. They would protect fellow Vampires within their capabilities even if it meant killing Hunters in the process.

Manuele Di Genova
Organization V

It happened not that long ago, the existence of vampires. The fear that people received from those who went berserk once they awakened again. People who were dead but not really came into society. Changing the world just a little. Political debated happened as well as conflicts between the two species. Some considered them no better than ferocious animals, others saw them as humans but different. Some were neutral about all of this. It could have gone another way if only humans would try to accept them existing in this world. It was not by choice that they became like this. It was because of the virus that was spread on Earth. One that infected everyone. The government didn’t think it through when they destroyed the liquid, it got up in the air and those who inhaled it, got infected. Most of the people could resist it and their cells destroyed the virus. Others were less lucky and still transformed into these things called Vampires.

Manuele was merely 24 when the virus took over. With some it would take longer than others but once a human would pass a certain age, the virus could not control the body anymore. It stopped mutating. Manuele was considered one of the unlucky ones. He was banished by his own parents, send away from the house as they became afraid of him. His fangs that were shown as he drank animal blood, the red eyes when he became hungry, the slightly colder skin that would feel weird to a human. He wasn’t allowed to see them again, they didn’t want to acknowledge his existence anymore. They just wanted for this nightmare to stop. They’d only consider taking him back in if there was a cure yet until this day none had been found. An antidote that could be dangerous, one that could even kill them was yet to be found out. The mere thought of it was scary. But the longer he lived, the more he wanted to leave this world.

However his emotions became less visible, he didn’t feel them so well anymore either. After all he had seen, heard and done. It was only normal for him to become a colder kind of person. Sometimes other Vampires would say that whenever he was in a dangerous situation, he really did look like a dangerous creature. Which he did. Being the boss of an underground bar was his escaping point. A place where he could just be whatever he was without people judging. Those that came here were fine with humans and Vampires co-existing with each other. There were occasional “intruders” but they got send to the door pretty quickly with a warning attached.

Situated inside of his bar, he looked around, it was calm around this point of day. It was only afternoon but the bar was open. You could say it was partly a bar and partly a café. In the afternoon one could order desserts and sandwiches for food, in the evening/night there were only small snacks like olives or nuts. A blank expression would come across Manuele his face as he stood behind the counter. Yes he helped out on the floor as well as he didn’t want to accept too many employees. He cleaned the filthy glasses in some water, in some of them was blood, in others were wine or beer. It depended on the species. Some Vampires still got drunk by drinking an amount of alcohol, for others it was more difficult. The music that was playing was relaxing. No hostile atmosphere was present in the slightest. It was nice once in a while to be like this. Well, it was always like this on a Monday. Not many people felt like coming to a place like this then. Friday and Saturday are the busiest days and it would not be unusual for someone to pass out from drinking too much.

Addie's feet hit the pavement quickly, one foot after the other. Her ears were filled with music which drowned out the sounds of the cars and people that she was passing. It was a Monday afternoon, which was the only day in the week that she worked in the afternoon, all of the other days she worked in the morning. Her short brown hair moving side to side as she made her way down the street. Beads of sweat dripped down her face. Stopping at a corner, Addie took in a deep breath before moving her hand to her forehead and wiping off the sweat. She took a sip of her water bottle and then continued on. She jogged for a considerable amount of time and only stopped when she made her way back to her apartment. She stretcher her arms out before entering the building.

She moved her way quickly through the lobby and then up the stairs. Jogging up the stairs, she made her way to the 6th floor. Addie walked down the hall to her apartment and unlocked it quickly, stepping inside. She walked to the bathroom and turned the shower on, letting it turn hot before she got undressed and hopped in the shower. After taking a 14 minutes shower she stepped out and wrapped a towel around her.

She checked her phone and sighed slightly. Addie got dressed, making sure to slip a wooden steak into her jacket pocket before she left her apartment. Taking the same way down and out of the building she then turned to the right and walked down the street at a much slower pace then before. She walked about a block before she made it to the cafe she worked at.

Pushing the door in and walking in the store, Addie waved at the girl who was currently behind the cash register. She walked past the girl and into the back, grabbing her apron from underneath the counter and tying it around her waist. She grabbed her notepad and pencil and went to work, getting the customers orders and bringing them the food. A typical waitress job. Occasionally she would get some asshole who would attempt at flirting with her in a very distasteful manner, but she usually just shrugged it off. It was part of the job after all.

(Sorry its not that good right now, I'm having some writers block with descriptive words....)

"Kai"

The leather jacket billowed in the daytime wind. Bright rays burst through the dark clouds littering the sky. Kai stood over a body in the ground, his eyes glowing the crimson red that always came out when his anger took control. The body beneath him lay unconscious, blood leaked from a large gaping wound in the torso area although it still wasn't dead. Kai moved over to it's head and placed his hands on each side before his arm muscles retracted which caused the head to rip off. Now it was dead.

Kai stepped away from the body and carefully recited a list of words, "Mark Chander, 95 years old, Vampire, Deceased." His pearly white fangs slowly slid back into the gums above them. Kai closed his mouth and his eyes went back to their original dull orange as he started to walk away ignoring the absolute carnage behind him. A dock yard full of dead bodies. All human but one, it didn't matter to Kai he killed without remorse, without care.

Kai hated cities. Just another mark of humanity's stupidity along with the monstrosity he was. His feet carried him through the busy streets without effort. One of the few perks of being a monster was stamina. He never got tired, never got sick, always wanted to kill. Kai shook his head, clearing all thoughts before reciting another string of words. "Jane Dickson, 110 years old, Vampire, alive."

(Sorry for short reply, will be longer in future posts)
