So, a fight, eh?

Something interesting on the first day! Lesta let the edge of her mouth curled upward as she stared at the class with delight. Good thing Grimm wasn't too fussy this morning. If they came up late she would be upset. Not that they were, but she would give the pair she fight later an extra punch or two for the possibility. Hey, it's the thought that counts.

While she rejoiced over the opportunity to beat up her classmates, she soon realised that she should assert the condition of her potential enemies. Sticking her hand into her shoulder bag, Lesta withdrew a notebook and mechanical pencil. The notebook was worn out; full of haphazard handwritten notes and attached post-it notes, it was clear that the notebook was used diligently. She opened the book where a pink bookmark was sticking out. The pages showed nothing close related to school subject.

It was a list of her classmates' fighting style. A Witch can't be too careful.

The first on the list was Meister Yori and Weapon Mieno. First of, Yori was a guy so he was hecking strong. Mieno was a glave, which made Yori's fighting style mid ranged. Annoying.

The second one was Meister Grace and Seren. Okay, a meteor hammer is fucking scary. Get it?

Third one was Meister Vivian and Weapon Sophia. Nothing special but the umbrella could shield against spells so fighting her would be annoying.

Fourth was Meister Ayame and Weapon Matthias. Matthias' a flamberge. He can release smokes and so close combat would be a hassle.

Fifth would be Meister Baphomett and Weapon Tomoki. To be honest she didn't think much about them. Tomoki is a scythe. A traditional pair.

That made up her list. With Yori and Vivian up for a fight, the enemy would be a meteor hammer, flamberge, or scythe. Lesta gave the list one last look before handing it to Grimm. Hey, she would be dragging him to a fight. Best she could do is to prep him up a bit.

"Here. Which one you think would be a problem?"

"Enthusiasm, I see," van Helsing said with a grin, showing his teeth- sparkly white, but also slightly at some of the edges, like he was part canine (he wasn't). "Alright. Ms. Moore and Mr. Nagahara, please follow me. Everybody else..." His eyes shot around the classroom again. "Follow me as well. You learn as much from seeing as from doing. Monkey see, monkey do."

He approached the now-bare door-frame. "Also, Mr. Killjoy, please refrain from destroying school property again, or else I will be forced to destroy your property."

van Helsing lead the students to the large, spacious outdoor platform, right by the stairs to the DWMA. He sat down in a swivel chair that somehow happened to be there. "Alright. Both sides, get ready. No severe injuries, please. I don't want to have to deal with that."

Soph looked at her partner with a determined glance, before her body became engulfed in light, launching into midair. When she landed in Viv's hands again, she was a sleek, black umbrella.

Her face reflected itself on the shaft of the umbrella. "Let's do this."

This was nice. The morning classroom was peaceful and cool. The slow trickle of other students flowing into the room, a feeling of preparedness that filled Seren's body. Having the time to gather her thoughts and plans for the day like this, coming into the class early was always worth it. Really, she couldn't understand the plethora of students who insisted on tardiness and outright skipping. Coming to this school and being in this class were privileges in and of themselves. How dense did someone have to be to sp-

Crashing through Seren's thoughts like a... Fist through a door, apparently, noise rippled through the classroom and almost sent Seren jumping out of her seat.

Her question was answered. That dense; They needed to be that dense. Dense enough to think punching in a door was a good idea. Dense enough to think that scaring the shit of her like that wouldn't reap a truckload of consequences. And the owner of such density, of course, would be fucking Baphomett. The, seemingly proud, owner of the number three spot on Seren's personal shit list. Calm. Calm. Stay calm. As much as she wanted to walk over to that ingrate and send a meteor hurtling towards his head, she could wait. There was no reason to let his hooliganism screw up her first day. Class came first, 'tutoring', as she liked to call it, would come later.

Visibly straining to return to settle back into her seat, Seren set back to waiting for the teacher, her mind now filled with thoughts like 'what she was going to do to those two jokers' and 'when she was going to do it'. Then Mr. Hellsing arrived, and Seren's mood shifted for the better. A sparring session. Great. Really, truly, without a hint of sarcasm, this was great. It was a little unbecoming of her, but her frown had been turned upside down.

"Grace." As they departed from the classroom, Seren stuck her finger out at the scythe-duo. "I wanna pummel those idiots. Okay?"

"Those two, huh...?"

It wasn't a surprise. Doing so much as snapping a pencil that didn't belong to you was enough to get Seren riled up (hell, there was even a chance that she'd get angry even if you did own it, on the grounds that such would be a waste). The clumsy display of Baphomett and his partner didn't really get Grace going at all, but she could certainly imagine how riled Seren got by watching someone else kick open a door. Professor Van Helsing was going to make them fight someone otherwise the point of a morning exercise would be pretty moot, so...why not? Besides, if Seren was into the whole premise of the fight, that would make things easier on Grace's end anyway.

"Alright. Yeah. Sure," she said, pulling herself from her seat as the entire class prepared to move outside. Didn't matter who she fought anyway, and going up against a scythe was likely in her benefit. As a wielder of a more unconventional weapon, even by the academy's standards, it was likely a good idea to figure out how the movements of a scythe master worked. Between Seren's ranged advantage and velocity, and the odd shape of a scythe, it should be an interesting matchup. The group headed out into the hall, passed through the many corridors, and eventually found themselves outside. It was something of an odd location for a fight, in her mind; the fact that they were still on pretty public school property that was made for some other purpose--namely, entering the building--practically made it one of the more dangerous places for any sort of fight. Maybe this was DWMA's way of punishing latecomers, or something. Either that, or they were expecting the students to practice restraint despite their sparring matches, as reducing the ground to rocks and rubble was most certainly going to be a no-go.

Grace pursed her lips slightly, though only for a moment. That was going to be something of a detriment for them, if so.

Even so, the girl shifted a stray hand of hair away from her face with a flick of her head, raising her hand in the process. "Professor Van Helsing?" she asked as she lightly raised her hand, seemingly a little dully compared to the remainder of the (seemingly pumped) student body, "Seren and I volunteer to fight Baphomett and Tomoki, at your discretion."

Vivian was glad to hear her name mentioned as one of two pairs to go first, her enthusiasm quite clearly being rewarded. As for her opponent, fighting such an interesting oddball would sure be a fun thing to experience. A personality like him was the perfect target for some snarky comments after all.

Unimportance aside, Vivian was very curious to see as how this would be going. Of all students, Yori and his sweet little glaive were quite a good challenge for Sophie and her. She respected Yori as a meister and was well aware that, if it came to a weaponless brawl, he would probably gain the upper hand. Luckily, the impenetrable umbrella was right by her side, and Vivian would be sure not to let go. However, even while wielding their respective weapons, Vivian did notice the disadvantage of range and knew she would have to find a way to get around it. Being out-ranged by the glaive wasn't exactly ideal, but surely wasn't something they couldn't win against.

While a healthy dose of nervosity did strike the female meister upon quickly assessing their chances of success, Vivian was happy to have a strong opponent. Not to say that anyone was 'weak' in her opinion, there were just a few whom she either wished to avoid or would just be easy to stomp by them personally. For those reasons, she would've picked Yori and Mieno over Wreck-it Baph or the slightly frightening book wielder in a heartbeat.

Following their professor outside, Vivian couldn't help but chuckle at the instructions given by Mr Van Helsing. "Don't worry, professor", she reassured, glancing over at Yori and Mieno. "I'm sure we won't have to go all out to win this one." Vivian teased lightly, offering a playful wink before turning around to move into position.

After exchanging a battle-ready glance with Sophie, Vivian raised her hand into the air to catch her partner as she shifted into her weapon stance. Letting the weapon slide down her hand, Vivian stopped the weapon with a tight grasp around its handle. "Let's show 'em what we've got, Soph." she mumbled against the demon umbrella, waiting for the battle to start.

Their challenger had been chosen, and Mieno couldnt really deny the fact that their opponents being Vivian and Sophia made her happy. A great duo to be going against for challenge. As they walked outside, the heat rolling into the afternoon officially got her excited. Nice weather for a nice spar was always, well nice. She looked over to her partner who, may not seem like it, but was definitely pumped to get moving. "Dont do anything stupid." Though she knew he wouldnt.

Mieno felt her body turn light before changing, her form spinning into Yori's hand before snapping into the clean form of a Glaive, her voice echoing from the blade. "We've got this, lets kick some ass!" The thrill of combat was already taking hold, making the feeling of excitement pool on her gut. So maybe she enjoyed fighting more than she could admit.

Yori stared as Mieno raised her hand, sinking down in his seat as she volunteered them. There went his plan to stay back and observe the others. He glanced at Sophia as Professor van Helsing told the class to follow them outside. The only way to win would be to get around Sophia, but he doubted she would make it easy. Yori sighed, following Mieno and the others outside.

He moved to stand across from his opponent. "I won't," he told Mieno, catching the glaive as she flew at him. Yori spun the weapon in his hand, getting himself used to wielding Mieno again. He ignored the other meisters words, and didn't acknowledge Mieno's disembodied voice either. "Well?" he asked her. "Get on with it already. Or are you going to stand there all day?"

Amazing. Absolutely delightful. The blunt words coming from Yori's mouth prickled Vivian in all the right ways up to the point where her body could no longer wait to get into action. Competitiveness drove her forward, a sly smile stuck on her face as she took the initiative. The apparent taunting had worked, not that it would matter.

Steady yet elegent steps swiftly moved her towards her opponent all the while radiating a confidence that should've probably be less apparent in this particular situation. Engaging a fight in such a way wasn't exactly what the umbrella was best suited for. The perfect situation would have the duo remain relatively stationary, in a position where they could react accordingly instead of taking such a vulnerable stance. This, however, didn't really matter to Vivian at the moment. She could rely on the umbrella opening up if she were to be put in a tough spot, so going on the offense had less disadvantages than advantages in her quickly formulated opinion. Besides, one could simply not expect her to completely ignore her urge to fight this way in a sparring match. Vivian was, however, still planning on taking this seriously.

Reaching closer to Yori, the Meister abruptly slowed down, carrying her momentum into a bold vertical slash from the side followed up by a direct thrust. Her movements were quick and precise, obviously aiming to hit ideally as precise as she could. Despite its lethality, the umbrella was not a weapon for making quick ends to conflict and especially not when facing a glaive Meister to begin with. Vivi's goal was to wear him down up to the point where defense was barely even an option, and that would be her time to shine.

Vivian watched and listened carefully, her brown eyes constantly following after the other meister. She had to be ready at all times to step back, to switch into more a defend role if Yori decided to counterattack. If that was not what he was planning, however, Vivian would happily respond with the exact opposite. Whether the opening of an umbrella in an attempt to defend, or a flurry of thrusts and slashes would be coming right for him was for him to decide, though.

Ayame maintained her raised brow towards Matthias when he failed to answer her question, but she couldn't bash on him for that. As a meister this was at least partially her fault, probably, since she was half of the equation when it came to them reaching the most powerful they could ever be. She would've slipped into thought had it not been for the professor entering and beginning on with the announcements for the day, or rather the start of them. He had prompted that they would be doing one-on-one battles, which was no surprise given what they were to become, and her partner seemed to have input on who he wished to fight. In a matter of a minute both options had been eradicated so she leaned over to Matthias, "Seems both of those will be unlikely..." She spoke quietly with her voice devoid of emotion. After this she stood to her feet and motioned for him to follow her with a simple hand gesture, they were left with their opponent by process of elimination and she couldn't say that was too upsetting really.

She liked the outcome as it happened to be. Based on tensions in the class it had forced the more... well-rounded opponent out of the way. She spoke to Matthias in a quiet tone, "It would seem we're going to be up against Damien and Gadis." She spoke before shuffling for a moment in place, trying to adjust herself so she would get a good view of the fight coming up before them. Honestly knowing what each of your classmates strengths and weaknesses were would help you out, since... one day they might all have to be helping one another out with fighting those with ill intent. For now they wouldn't have to worry about that, given that they were to be fighting one another in this test match and all. It wouldn't make any sense if this was a real fight since they'd just be bringing harm to one another rather than testing their skill, Professor Van Helsing wouldn't do that.... right?

She felt an unease about the idea of that and sighed before glancing around the class, it didn't seem like anyone was going to ask that question either. But she didn't feel like being the one kid who appeared fearful of taking some damage... if anything it could serve as a reminder of what not to do in the future. Moving her head she felt a tuft of black and blue cover one eye, lifting a hand she moved it upwards and tucked the fallen hair behind her ear before turning to look at Matthias. "We'll probably be fine... You feel confident knowing our most likely opponents?" She turned to face him now, having to look up to actually face him.

It was exactly as he wanted. His opponent was making the first move so he didn't have to. Yori watched her footing, his grip tightening on the glaive as she neared him. Yori wanted. His opponent was making the first move so he didn't have to. He tightened his grip on the glaive, watching her footing. Elegant, yet sure of herself, with the speed to back it up. He moved one foot back and pushing off his heel in a lunge. He blocked her slash halfway with his own blade and used his momentum to sidestep her next attack. Yori was moving again before he stopped, swinging the glaive in a tight arc diagonally down her back.

Baphomett Killjoy

By the time the instructor came in, Baph was laying back in his seat, quietly watching the man he'd almost forgotten about during his semester-break. Van Hellsing, their homeroom teacher. For a moment, the boy had hoped he'd ignore the door, and for a time it seemed like he did, the scribbling down of what was probably everyone's names while he informed them of the Death Festival and their first-day activity. Friendly spars, or so that's what they were suppose to be. Then the man asked for volunteers, which were quickly chosen right after. This left Baph to pickup on the encouraging glance of his weapon-partner beside him, responding with an empty look of his own. Sure, fighting to stretch the muscles. Yeah, that wasn't a bad excuse for a class brawl, but at the same time...

Several butts left their seats as Baph was called out, warned, and threatened all at once by his respected teacher, just before the large group departed for the stairs. He could only smile at the man as he felt no guilt or remorse, the reason behind the removing of the door in the first place quietly being shoved somewhere in the back. It was natural at this point, no use in giving it any thought. What he did think about though, was his possible opponents. Turns out Seren wanted a piece of the Forearm Machete duo. Or at least that's what the brown-haired fighter got from her finger-pointing. Baph gave the two his attention as Grace went over to Hellsing. Yep, they were gonna dance.

Now standing beside Tomo, Baph folded his arms as the first two pairs took their positions. "Hey Tomo, we're up next, you feeling confident?" He asked, a hand smoothing down his hair after a sudden itch.

With her first attack blocked and the second evaded, Vivian responded accordingly to her perceptions.

"Open!" the meister called out, putting her trust in the Demon Weapon to actually open up. Otherwise, she would find her back torn open in merely the first seconds of actual battle. And that would obviously be quite the tragic defeat.

If things were to go well, however, Vivian would request her weapon to close again whilst spinning around to face the docile glaive meister, taking a step forward as she aimed another set of thrusts into his way in an attempt to position herself more aggressively. She would keep facing him with steady thrusts and slashes until he would counter attack, Vivian's eyes carefully aimed at the other meister's movement and, more importantly, their weapon.

Soph responded eagerly to Viv's command to open up, the canopy springing out to protect against the glaive strike. The attack didn't dent the umbrella, sending a shock of Soph's wavelength running into Mieno. She'd apologize later.

After blocking the attack, Soph had the umbrella fold back into the more nimble, spear-like closed form, as Viv barraged Yori with strikes. "Try not to abuse the shield if you could, Viv. If I get a tear again, I'll shatter your arse like I did the egg this morning," Soph communicated to her partner. As harsh as she was, Soph had no intention of getting torn again. The last time it happened, the wound took forever to heal. She had no intention of undergoing that pain just from a trivial sparring match.

Yori stepped back as his strike was deflected, giving his weapon a quick glance. He would have to assume that Mieno was alright, at least until she told him otherwise. He focused back on the spar, barely moving out of the way of a thrust in time. Yori narrowed his eyes at the other meister, concentrating on parrying her slashes or ducking out of the way of her strikes.

He stayed on defense until he found a good moment to counterattack. A cut opened up along his shoulder when he failed to completely dodge a strike, but he didn't pay attention to it. Yori surged forward, aiming to thrust the glaive through her stomach.

A smile formed on the Meister's face as she fought, the words of her weapon being undeniably funny to the point where she could not completely stay focused.

Hearing the former accident brought up again reminded Vivian that they were, in fact, not as invincible as she liked to think they were. Sophie could pack a punch, but it was indeed not fair of her Meister to hide behind her. Sophie's whining about being hit was usually pretty funny though.

Although she already had a snarky comeback on the tip of her tongue, Vivian had no time to waste on such matters. Her body moved almost instinctively as the result of rigorous training sessions that had made her so accustomed to the umbrella up to the point where the movements felt extremely natural which was, of course, a good thing.

With each jab and thrust reaching forth only to be blocked or dodged, Vivian felt increasingly more impatient. She wasn't surprised that Yori could keep up her pace, but that didn't make it any less bothersome. As a result, more energy was put in her attacks causing the pace to grow even quicker.

For quite some time her strikes missed to no avail, but Vivian did not give up. The agile Meister constantly repositioned herself, thrusting and swinging in an attempt to just hit. Her efforts eventually paid off, though, for a ferocious overhand strike managed to at least slash at the other meister's shoulder.

A sense of mild euphoria clouded her mind as she finally succeeded. It was a validation or, rather, a confirmation that she hadn't completely forgotten how to fight over the summer. Unfortunately, the happiness seemed to be shortlived.

She let her guard down for just a split second. Her eyes gazed at the strike a little too long, failing to the change of shifts in Yori's stance. Vivian didn't see the strike coming, but when she did she could only tilt to the side slightly to avoid a very, very nasty injury.

One thing was certain. Yori was definitely not a gentleman.

With her facial expression tensing up, Vivian stumbled to the side as she quickly aimed the umbrella forward in case she had to defend another strike. Heavier breaths escaped her mouth as she looked down to see a vertical slash straight through her clothes, accompanied by a good dose of red colouration.

Shit.

Her right hand reached down against the wound that, luckily, didn't seem very deep. The fact that it could have been, however, was rather startling and obviously not all too comforting.

Vivian was obviously not happy with the wound, but it did act as some sort of wake-up call. It wasn't like she was going through an entire self-reflection process, but knowing that this had been the result of her lacklustre attention reminded her that it wasn't just hitting the opponent that mattered.

Quite frankly, Vivian was not intending on taking the lead again. Instead, she just gave her opponent a well-deserved glare as she held the umbrella aimed at him, relying on Soph to take a hit for her poor Meister if it was needed. Besides, surely Van Helsing would not let them fight until the bitter end, right?

Despite the noise of the battle happening before the class's eyes, Grace kept one ear covered by her headphones; the fact that the thin sounds of clashing guitars was still somewhat audible over the spar was either a testament to the precise movements of the current combatants, or a testament to just how hardy Grace's ears were. Her head bobbed lightly, and her fingers twitched in time with what came from her open headphone. For the most part, it didn't even seem as if she was concentrating on the spar; were that not enough, she shifted a glance toward the pair Seren had chosen as their opponents, sizing them up between important clashes.

Her eyes then flicked back to her own overly-dressed partner. She wasn't about to doubt the other girl's confidence; that was something she had learned not to do within a few hours of first meeting her. It was a little odd to her that the rest of the EAT class was simply standing around, watching everything play out; she would have expected at least a little more chatter, commentary on the match if nothing else. Not that it mattered as long as she had some music in her ears and something to occupy her, but...still.

Her eyes flicked forward, honing in on the ensuing fight once more. Yet, her words were directed elsewhere. "Hey. Seren." She briefly reached a hand up, pushing a bit of hair away from her face again, "Those two that you picked. What do you think about them?"

Sophie stood by as Vivianne barraged Yori with strikes. She managed to get a nick off on his shoulder, but for the most part managed to stay safe, via either dodging or parrying. It seems he was staying on the defensive, when suddenly he lunged forwards.

It played out slowly. Yori's blade speeding towards Viv's stomach. Viv's reflexes were spot-on, and she avoided most of the attack, but the fact that- just then and there- she could have been left partnerless was shocking.

"Viv! Are you OK?!" Soph asked frantically, springing open to block any other attacks Yori might throw. Her soul wavelength surged through the umbrella, flickering blue light bouncing off the frame. "I'll be damned if that bloody glaive gets within a meter of you again," she hissed angrily. They had their rivalries at times, sure but in the end, Soph really cared for Viv, and she wasn't prepared to lose a partner.

The clang of metal on metal seemed to take all of her attention, and even though Yori was sticking to the defensive, she knew better than to take it for struggle. She felt the pace shift and Yori lunged, the blade hitting skin.

"Nice, Keep up the pace! just, dont put her in any life threatening state please!" Mieno could almost sense the battle shift from Yori being in the defensive, instantly into offensive. She didnt mind blocking and taking hits, but it sure did leave a sore aftermath.

Yori shot forward as his opponent stumbled, intending to take advantage of it with a quick slash to her side, but Sophia was faster. His strike clashed against her shield. Yori pulled back as her wavelength surged but didn't let up. He focused on his attack instead of answering Mieno, but he was egged on by her words. He aimed to get around the umbrella, moving left and right to make his movements harder to predict.

Though, he couldn't make any promises on the second half of what Mieno said. It might be a spar, but what would be the point if he didn't give it his all? Treating this like anything other than a real battle was a waste of his time. If Mieno wanted him to play nice, she shouldn't have volunteered first. He felt the same way about the glare sent his way. What was he supposed to do? Put padding on Mieno before the fight? Yori stabbed at her side with his right hand, quickly switched the glaive to his left in case she blocked it, and slashed at her left leg.

As the fighting continued, van Helsing kept watch from his chair, his hand on a golden pocket watch. His eyes flittered from the timekeeping device towards the fight above. No discernible emotions were showed. Just as Yori prepared to swing at Viv again, van Helsing mumbled something under his breath and pressed the gold button on his stopwatch.

A wave of soul energy flowed through the area. As soon as the wave of blue hit Soph, she felt her connection to Viv grow unstable. In an instant, she started to glow, and her form shifted back to her human form as she landed on her arse. Ah, van Helsing's famous pocket watch. Soph didn't know exactly how the peculiar device worked, other than the fact that it knocked weapons out of weapon form. Soph got to her feet, her attention immediately switching to Viv. "Are you all right? That looks like a nasty cut." Soph's hand gently brushed over the bloody flesh and cloth by her partner's wound. She couldn't help but feel bad. That attack was perfectly in range of Soph's umbrella; had the girl only been faster and less afraid of tanking a hit, everything would have been alright.

Meanwhile, van Helsing stood up, clapping twice to get everybody's attention. "Not half bad. Not half bad at all. Some technical flaws, of course, but to be expected. No student here is perfect, otherwise I wouldn't be paid." He looked at the remaining students. "Now, moving on. I received a request from Ms. Fugue to go against Mr. Killjoy. I believe that request was made on behalf of a certain individual." van Helsing's eyes floated towards Seren for just a second, before returning back to the student body in general. "As DWMA Meisters, you are allies against the forces of evil. Vanguards against the dominion of darkness that exists beyond. Each of you must learn to be allies with each other. Disrespect and trust will only lead to your downfall and inevitable demise."

"As such, Mr. Killjoy and Ms. Fugue will be fighting- TOGETHER- against Ms. Kanzaki and Ms. Lestari. A double battle, in layman's terms." van Helsing exhaled the smoke in his mouth from the cigar. "Teamwork is crucial here. The connection between Meister and Weapon is just as important as Meister and Meister. Work together, find a common weakness, and capitalize."

The old professor sat back down in his swivel chair, ready to survey the great battle that would commence soon.

Tomoki watched the spar with a grin on his face. Although he did want some pockys to go with the show, he was interested in the battle and who would win. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see a humanoid figure which looked to be his Meister step beside him. Once he was asked if he was feeling confident he laughed lightly and grinned. "You know it." He responded without even bothering to turn and look at his partner.

Tomoki continued to watch the spar between his four classmates. He tried to analyze them and get any information from them that he could. Not too long later, Tomoki felt a wave of soul energy flow through the area and witnessed both weapons transforming back to human form. He was indeed confused but he didn't ponder on it for long because he was getting ready to spar next with his partner. When Tomoki heard about there being a 8-man-spar, his eyebrows rose.

Vivian held on tight as the first hit clashed against the Demon Weapon, feeling glad yet simultaneously guilty when Sophie took the hit from that frightening glaive.

Although Vivian was well aware that she had signed up for this humble little sparring match, but she just couldn't help feeling light annoyance boil up after the attack. Attacking so ferociously after having tried to impale a spear through her chest was a bit of a jerk move, honestly, although Viv was probably not one to talk. She would've probably felt bad for the shoulder cut, but sadly someone tried to tear up her chest as a result.

"I'm fine!" the Meister would quickly mutter to her partner, peering past the umbrella in an attempt to keep an eye on the threat. He was doing some fancy movements left and right, but they did not phase the purple-haired girl whatsoever. She was now the one taking the defensive stance instead of the knobhead other Meister they were facing.

When another thrust was sent into her direction, Vivian prepared to block with a counterattack in mind. She wasn't just going to let him chip away at her, of course, considering she still wanted to win. Sadly- or, luckily actually, the battle was ended before the Glaive reached her, quickly finding herself disarmed just like her opponent.

Letting out a sigh of relief, Vivian couldn't help but smile when seeing her partner's worry over the cut. It did sting a bit, but it wasn't even near life-threatening. She herself was actually more concerned about the damage done to her clothes. That top was one of her favourites.

With a smile still resting on her face, Vivian responded to her partner. "I'm okay, it's not that bad." She would glance back down again at the wound itself, tensing up slightly at the touch of her weapon. "Seems like I'm the one who got torn up this time, though." Vivian joked, chuckling at her own dumb remark as she looked back at her partner.

Vivian then turned to face the professor as he spoke up, glad to hear they weren't doing absolutely awful. Vivian herself was too glad about the outcome considering she arguably had more damage done to her than Yori, but at least she didn't get absolutely pummeled.

The Meister felt excitement arise as Van Helsing instructed about the next battle. She was eager to witness such a grand idea and had expected nothing less from the professor himself. This was going to be very neat, but she did have something to inquire before stepping out of the way.

"Hey, Yori!" she would call out into his direction, stepping into his direction wherever he could possibly be. "It was nice fighting against you." Vivian added, setting aside the inner memories of the glaive nearly reaching through her chest. She wanted to be polite, so the younger girl would reach out a hand, hoping that he would shake it.

The stab, flowing into a leg slash. The words of 'dont put your sparring partner into a state of potential life loss', was yet again ignored. Instantly as the cut was about to hit, she felt everything waver and shimmer, a song thrown out of tune. She snapped out of her weapon form, sadly the momentum from the slash somewhat followed, throwing her to the ground a bit, forcing an undignified 'Gyeh' out of her as she hit the ground. But as fast as she had fallen, she was up and brushing off dusty dirt from her skirt, quickly walking next to Yori and in front of their sparring partners.

"Thanks for the catch" It was nothing but sarcasm dripping from her tone. She expected it to be ignored, but oh well. Vivian had stepped up to them a bit and held out her hand, her good sportsmanship making Mieno smile a bit, good-natured people were hard to come by these days. "Sorry about the whole, stab/slash wound that could've been worse." Mieno looked over to Yori, the hand outstretched waiting to be shaken. Ah yes, good-natured people. She slowly started to make her way to the sidelines, leaving the small group.

Yori saw the block coming at the last minute and tried to change his trajectory, aiming higher than before. His efforts didn't seem to matter, as in the next second the weapon in his hand wavered and he couldn't feel Mieno's wavelength. He squinted through the wave of blue as his partner fell, watching the same thing happen to his opponents. The whole thing gave him a headache. Yori sighed when Helsing didn't bother going into detail about their so called 'technical flaws' before moving on to the others. At least it was good practice after going so long without a fight.

Yori did in fact ignore Mieno, turning back to his opponent when she called out to him. He stared at her offered hand, then put his own in his pockets. "You weren't a bad person to be matched up against." It was the highest compliment she would get from him. Considering the four-meister match that was about to take place, he was glad Mieno forced him to go first. He paused, glancing at and then away from her stomach wound. He paused. "What's your name again?"

He waited a few seconds for an answer before joining Mieno on the sidelines. Yori sat, staring at each 'team' as they prepared to fight. "You okay?" He asked her.

"What do I think about them?" That much should be obvious. "I think they're a couple of loud, annoying good for nothings. Vandals, too." As the glaive-umbrella duel drew to a close, Seren tossed a glare in the direction of her chosen prey. People like them only learned in one way; By getting the consequences of their actions beaten into them until they understood what they'd done wrong.

Which made this problematic. Really, really problematic. A close observer might have even seen a vein popping out of Seren's skull as she listened to the Professor's change of plans. They were supposed to work with those goons. She wasn't usually the type to question her teachers, but right now she couldn't tell whether Mr. Hellsing was being cruel, or just dense. God, she hadn't even talked to those two idiots yet and she was already pissed off.

Why couldn't they have been paired up with someone decent, like Kanzaki?

"..." Before she transformed, Seren took a deep breath and massaged one of her temples. "As much as I hate it, I guess we have no choice but to work with those goons." It was easy enough to tell from the tone of her voice that neither attempt had helped soothe her frustration. But, it'd just be childish of her to take this as some sort of excuse to refuse to participate, so with a flash of light and a muttering under her breath, she shifted into her weapon form.

"Lucky assholes."
