Eating; Getting Ready

"See you on the rooftop tonight, then," she answered just as acidly with a smirk on her face. He agreed to fight! While others might be insulted by Grimm's words just then, it was a routine exchange between the Meister and Demon Weapon. Lesta shoved the second plate of sandwich toward Grimm. The plate rattled as it slid on the table.

"Take the sandwich and change clothes. We'd be late at this point."

Finishing her breakfast, Lesta wore her tie in front of a mirror, swallowing on the last bite of bread. With the black and green tie neatly on the collar of her shirt, she took a black glove from her desk before heading to the door. Seven. A weighted glove meant for close combat, but Lesta wore it every time she went out. She stepped outside.

"You coming or not?"

She held the door, impatiently waiting for Grimm.

Vivian, needless to say, happily went on ravaging her egg up to the point where her plate was completely empty. She obviously maintained her delicate table manners, so she wasn't eating like an absolute animal, but the pace at which she ate was remarkable and possibly even admirable to some.

Having finished her lovely breakfast, Viv quickly found her plate taken away for her by her oh-so organized weapon. The ways Sophie took care of her were always greatly appreciated by the sluggish soul, allowing her to gain some more relaxation that she rarely had back at home. She did, however, feel a little guilty for not nearly being as helpful in cleaning, cooking and other tasks. Perhaps that's why she would tone down the snarky and sassy comments a bit more when speaking to her own partner.

Being reminded of having to go to school felt like a stab in her heart, visibly shaking the poor girl. For even just a bit had she forgotten that her destination after breakfast was not her bed or the comfortable couch, but rather a boring classroom.

Releasing a disgruntled sigh, Vivi put both hands on the table as she pushed herself up. "Ah, right. I'll try to be quick." She replied, quickly chugging down what was left of her tea. The purple-haired girl would then pull a short race-walk towards her room in an attempt to gain even a little more time to ready up. It was time to enter a fierce fight with her very own clothes.

Pulling open the tightly packed closet, Vivi slid through her options to eventually end up with a pleated navy-blue skirt and a simple white sleeveless top to match. She would then twist her hair into a ponytail before finishing the look with a bracelet or two, a necklace and a pair of sunglasses. While this doesn't sound as too much, actually coming up with the plan and executing it took longer than expected.

Hearing some noise coming from outside her room, Vivian picked up her pace, swiftly deciding which bracelet she wanted to wear before searching for a pair of shoes. "Almost ready!" she would exclaim, hopping towards the door as she clumsily pulled on the final part of the pair.

Opening the door, Vivian confidently walked out with a satisfied smile on her face.

"Alright! Shall we go?"
she would say, looking to the side to face her partner. Vivi was truly proud that she hadn't delayed their leave all too much. She would then head off to the apartment door, pulling it open with an energetic swing. "After you, M'lady" she would then add with a cheeky grin on her face as she theatrically gestured her partner to go first.

Ayame waited for a moment, crossing her arms over her chest and beginning to tap her foot, what had taken him so long to pull himself away from the side of the building that he always tried to sneak in? She could hear murmuring from within as people stared out through a tinted window at her, what were they looking at even? She wasn't showing anything too weird so their stares were empty and held no real justification, she was tempted to glare in at them before an unfamiliar item tapped the back of her head. She reached her hand back to touch the spot it had previously impacted with and then began to twist her body to face the one who had appeared behind her. His comment was what let her know exactly who he was before she got turned around, and because of that decided to stop turning part way through and instead turned to the side and shook her head.

She looked over her shoulder at him, "Neither. I was looking for a sword who was supposed to be heading to class around this time." She turned back and began to walk, then lifted a hand in a motion to follow her. She didn't need to have them standing in front of this place for too much longer or they'd be late to class... or at least later than was usual from Matthias. "We both know I'm far too... under-qualified to work there. Besides, I don't think our instructor would like it if we missed half of the class. Again." She shook her head and continued walking down the sidewalk. The fact of the matter was that they needed to attend their classes and if they left now then they could probably make it there on time... or at least within the first ten minutes of class.

"So did you get a peep in there last night? Or did they keep you out again?"

Aaahhhh, there was something refreshing about the sight of an empty classroom. It was probably a bit immature to call the order of attendance a race, but if somebody had to be the first one to class, there was no reason why it shouldn't be the two of them. It showed a certain level of dedication to their studies, Seren figured.

Well, that and having the freedom to pick where she wanted to sit was nice, too.

"I don't know if 'whatever' is a good attitude to have about your education, but... I guess it's good that you're relaxed." Replying a a muttering that was probably meant to go unreplied to, Seren followed Grace into class, and made a beeline for the front row; More specifically, she sat as close to the center as she could. Naturally, since there wasn't really anywhere else worth sitting, she didn't bother asking Grace where she'd prefer to be seated. It was a good thing that her partner wasn't the shy type.

"Anyway. I guess the only thing left for us to do is wait, no?"

Matthias smirked wryly as he followed his partner towards the school, staying just out of the range of her arms in case she decided to give in to one of his taunts. He hadn't known the strange girl for too long; in spite of their proximity as partners, he hadn't tried too hard to get to know her. He was more used to people opening up to him like he was some sort of shrink, he didn't feel right prying into someone's life. As long as neither of them made a move, it seemed that the small distance would remain between them. It was a strange distance, given that the two of them were supposed to resonate to bring out his true power. The whole situation bothered him, but not to the extent where he felt the need to fix it. Instead, it just sat there, like the niggling thread on a shirt, not so bad that it was worth fixing, but frightening for the fact that if it was pulled on it might make the whole situation unravel.

"How poetic," Matthias muttered to himself as he finished his can of juice. To complete his meal, he fished around in his pockets, producing the various elements of his smoking kit. With experienced hands, he measured out the contents, wrapped them in the paper, stowed them away, and lit the cigarette, all while keeping in stride with Ayame. The kit had been a gift from his grandmother and was apparently a traditional set of tools given to every family member who left on dangerous business. Unfortunately, she had refused to tell him what the purpose of the mysterious cigarettes was. Instead, she had just smiled and promised that he would learn what everything meant in its own time. Whatever that meant, the mysterious contents of the kit always left him feeling rested, calm, and alert. That, and their scent seemed to change radically from day to day. Today, as it burned, the concoction produced a pinkish smoke which smelled of peppermint and pine. The taste of gingerbread filled his mouth as he retorted to his partner.

"Nope, the only chest I got to see last night was Ramone the bouncer blocking me at every possible entrance. I swear they don't pay that guy enough for that level of dedication." He flicked away some ashes from the end of his cigarette, which seemed to transform into powdered sugar as they drifted away from him. As they came up to the entrance to the school, he decided to take one last jab. "Don't worry yourself about your looks now, I'm sure if you apply yourself you'll be able to become the skankiest hostess at Chupacabra's in a few years!" He smiled brightly, laughing goodnaturedly.

Soph waited patiently outside of Viv's door until she eventually hopped out, prepared for the day. As she did so, Soph took a peak into her room. "For the love of God, Viv, you ought to clean your room one of these days. It's a bloody pigsty in there," she huffed condescendingly. Vivi's room was about the only room Soph hadn't reorganized over the summer, as she saw no reason to rummage through all of her partner's personal belongings. She rarely did go into her room, in fact, but when she did, it wasn't getting any cleaner. In fact, quite the opposite.

Irregardless.

"We shall," Soph responded curtly, stepping out the door that Viv held open for her. "Thank you very much," she replied to her partner as she walked down the hall, then the stairs, and finally out the door of the apartment building.

The city of Death City was quite the hubub that day, with people streaming up and down the streets, getting to and from work, or perhaps heading shopping or something of the sort. Quite clearly nearby was the DWMA, only a half-minute or minute's walk away. Soph had chosen this apartment (other than for the spacious area and the functioning AC) for its proximity to the Academy, subverting the need to walk a long distance or have to buy a vehicle. Soph, accompanied by her partner, strode down the pavement, up the titanic flight of stairs, and into the DWMA.

Soph walked into the classroom and noticed they were quite early. In fact, they were the second ones there. The first ones were the duo of Grace and Seren, sitting in the front-center of the classroom. Soph gave them both a polite wave. "Morning to both of you," she said to the pair, sitting somewhere in the middle. She motioned to her partner to sit with her- that wasn't a demand, but a request she would like resolved. It was more conducive for their teamwork to be with each other as much as possible.

Grace took a seat next to her partner without missing a beat. It wasn't as if there was a point in sitting anywhere else anyway. Her headphones remained slightly tilted, keeping one ear free as she glanced around the empty classroom. With music playing, it wasn't too bad; she couldn't imagine sitting in a place so empty and so quiet with nothing to listen to, though.

Not even that. She didn't want to imagine it.

Her leg began to twitch after a while, bouncing up an down as the duo awaited the arrival of the others. She had been nervous up until then, but now that she was actually there, sitting in class, she found herself desperate for something, anything, to actually do. She had a feeling she was going to regret it eventually, but at this point, the high-action lifestyle that everyone had expected was beginning to look mighty attractive next to, well, whatever this was. She had half a mind to find some way to keep talking to Seren, but the other girl seemed more than content basking in the glory of being the first ones to class. For Grace, it was a status symbol that only extended to the next person to arrive, but to Seren that likely didn't matter.

The door clicked and swung open, revealing the second pair of students to arrive. Grace didn't know anyone all that well, but the faces were familiar all the same. She didn't vocalize her good-morning, simply offering a nod as she stared in their direction. Two people in the room didn't really make the silence any less awkward, but her music was carrying her through it all the same. The other two students filtered into one of the middle rows, a far more normal seat than Seren's first choice.

A front-row seat to class; the marker of the tryhard and the overachiever, if what she had been initially told was any indication. She glanced over her shoulder for a moment, staring back at the other two for a time.

Hopefully they didn't think the other pair was weird for sitting all the way in the front.

Baphomett Killjoy

A loud yawn signaled Baphomett's awakening as he lowered his raised arms, teary eyes being wiped via backhand. He always cried when he yawned, and even though it hadn't been brought up by another recently, he could tell that it gave the wrong impression. At his left, bare 3 feet away, was an opened closet; the contents within simply eyeing their soon-to-be wearer. The boy sat up, leaving his nightmare in the dampened bed-sheets. It was really damn hot last-night. Heck, Baph slept completely naked and was still drenched from his own exudation. The remainder of the cover-up sheet was tossed aside as he dismounted the bed, strutting for his hanged towel. Sleeping naked wasn't a habit or anything, and whenever he bothered with a workout, it usually ended with him in the livingroom half-naked and lying back-first on the floor. Bottom half wrapped by the thick drying cloth, he spared a glance to the neglected sandbag leaning alone in the corner of his bedroom. Baph hadn't used it for nearly two days now, that then reminded him of his mother's dislike for violence which greatly hobbled his training when it came to actually fighting back. Well, bare-handled at least.

Baphomett exited the room before thoughts caught him, knowing full-well his daze tendencies. One could argue that the way he slammed the door shut behind him, was to flee the image of his mother lying in place of the sandbag knocked-out cold. In fact the boy was still holding on to the door-handle, the length of time just enough to start a small puddle of sweat where he stood. This morning was weird so far, as he hadn't had an image so vivid of his parent for awhile now. A curious head slowly rose as the sweaty palm relieved the door its grip. Maybe this stuff was happening because school begun today. Right, school. Baphomett took a breath of life, his wet footprints ending off in the kitchen as he opened the refrigerator. An orange boxed-juice, and a small container of cheese-paste made yesterday were removed and placed on the cupboard, the door previously opened now shut. Turning his sight to the cabinet above, he felt for his special plate before taking out some wholewheat loaves. Baph back-stepped from the arranged items toward the rack holding the utensils and recently washed dishes. "Hey Tomo, you feeling like home-made lunch today? I'm making a few sandwiches." Shingg! A blade was nonchalantly drawn from the rack as he returned to the cupboard and prepped a few eatables for now and later.

"Oh yes! Homemade lunch sounds very pleasing." He said before stuffing his mouth with a spoon full of milk and cereal. Around this time is where Tomoki began to finish up his cereal. There were only a few pieces of cereal steadily floating around in the bowl of milk. He scooped up the remaining pieces and put them into his mouth. He lifted up the bowl and raised it to his mouth as he tilted his head back slightly and quickly drunk the milk. Once he finished drinking the milk he got up from his chair and threw the bowl away before yawning dramatically. "How'd you sleep Baph?"

The countertops surface was covered with breadcrumbs as sixteen cheese-filled squares sat on the oval-shaped plastic plate. "Not bad, managed ten good hours, so keeping my eyes open should be a cinch today." Chop; the halves quickly became quarters before being swept out the way. "How was your rest?" Baph took out eight more slices of bread, pasted four, then topped those with the other four. "Sweet dreams?" Afterwards, he cut off the crusts and proceeded cutting the four cheese sandwiches into quarters, thus doubling the initial amount. This made Baph pause to consider the amount needed for the two, as he gets easily carried away when it comes to making grub.

"Oh my dreams were the sweetest." He said as he leaned against the counter and crossed his arms, thinking about his dreams. "Hey Baph, you ever have a lucid dream? Always wanted one of those." Tomoki watched Baph cut up food as he talked.

"Oh food. What a foreign concept." He muttered, but took the sandwich regardless. In all honesty, most of the reasons he ate was because she fed him. It was safe to say it definitely wasn't one of Grimm's top priorities. Grimm eyed her, and cocked his head as his tongue slowly caressed against his lips. "You sound almost excited to get your ass handed to you. It's almost cute."

Sandwich in hand that's when he stood up, and slowly stepped out of the apartment. "stop your winning kid I'm on my way."

The walk up those dreadful stairs was as always, terrible. When she had gotten to the top Mieno couldnt help but take a breather. It was so much easier when Yori was there, mostly from the fact that nagging him distracted her from the burning in her calves. This time she was alone and the only distraction was the fact that she was no longer early for class. When she finally got to the door of the class room, she was obviously not the first one in. Opening the door to the still filling classroom secured her time and walking in she headed straight to her usual spot.
"Morning" She didnt really say it to anyone in particular, but the friendly gesture usually distracted from the slight heavy breathing from running here.

Yori tugged on a dark green shirt and a pair of black shirts, throwing his towel down on the bed. He'd take care of it later. Along with all of the other dirty clothes he'd shoved in his closet over the last few days so he didn't have to look at them. If he remembered. He made his way to the kitchen and made himself two pieces of toast. He'd skipped breakfast earlier and without Mieno to hurry him along, he was more than willing to show up late.

He expected it, so Yori wasn't too surprised when he came out the bathroom and found the apartment empty. But he still stuck by his view about classes being a waste of time. He shrugged, slathering more jam on half-eaten bread. He would just see her later. Yori cleaned up once he was done, glancing in the fridge. He pushed aside leftovers and Mieno's drinks to grab an unopened orange juice shoved way in the back. Popping off the cap, he drank a few mouthfuls straight from the bottle and then put it back where he found it. Yori looked at the time. Even after all that, he was still more or less on time.

He grabbed a roll of tape from a drawer and went back to his room, where he sat on the floor and attempted to put the broken halves of his bokken back together. He quadruple-wrapped the point of the break just to be safe, smoothing down the wrinkles and rough edges. It probably wouldn't hold up in the long run, but it was enough for now until he could get a professional to look at the damage. He propped it up against the wall and finally decided to stop wasting time and face the school day.

It only took Yori a few minutes to get to the DWMA from their apartment. He stared up the looming staircase, shaking his head. As he started up he could admit that it was good exercise, especially coming off summer break. But it was still completely overkill.

Honestly, she really did have to clean her room. It was an absolute mess which, despite not bothering her immensely, did occasionally make moving around much harder than it had to be. Vivian simply didn't have the self-discipline to act on any aspirations that did not include fighting in some way. And to think her room back at home was always tidy, although that was mostly due to the pushing of her parents. She could practically feel their disappointment sliding past her every time she walked into her room. Today was no moment to think about such matters.

Closing the apartment door once Soph had walked out, Vivian quickly locked the door before hopping to the side of her partner, following the umbrella right down the stairs and out into the light of day. Within seconds, Vivi put on her stylish sunglasses to make sure the sun wouldn't burn out her eyes.

Vivian did not pay all too much attention to her surroundings, mostly just focusing on the thought of having to climb those godforsaken stairs once again. It was definitely not something she had missed doing, Her physical condition was not to blame in this case, though, for she was definitely not lacking in that area.

Once having survived the stairs successfully, Vivian made sure to make slight adjustments to her hair to make sure it was in its best possible shape regarding circumstances. She fell behind slightly, but still just followed after her partner.

Arriving at the classroom, Vivian swiftly glanced over the room to see only two other students already seated. She was not one for being so early, personally not understanding the difference between being 10 minutes early or right on time. Opinions differed, it seemed.

"Good morning" she would chime in right after Soph spoke up, mimicking the oh-so-sweet wave she offered the other EAT-class students. Vivian would then take a seat beside her partner, which had been her plan regardless of the motion. It was then time to wait in silence as she leaned back in her chair, knowing all too well she was not prepared to sit in a classroom all day.

Upon hearing another 'good morning' appear from the door, Vivi would simply turn to the side and flash a friendly smile at the other student. It was a little odd at first to see her come in without a partner, but an internal reminder to who that exactly was made it a little easier to understand.

"Yeah, yeah. Said the sissy that will be late everyday without this kid pushing him up."

The lashed insults and acidic retorts were a routine that had been going on for god-knows-how-long between the pair. Grimm was rude. Lesta was harsh. Grimm was disagreeable. Lesta was also disagreeable. When the violent Witch met the bitter Demon Weapon, they became a pair of barbed tongue that make a nun wish to wash their mouth with bleach. Of course, the pair itself didn't care much of the volatile words between them.

Throwing insults at one another all the way to school, the pair arrived quickly at the entrance to their class. The fact that they walked at a quickened pace helped. Lesta intentionally slammed the door of the classroom as she entered, drawing the attention of everyone in class. Her grey eyes was still set on Grimm the whole time she walked to the back of the class, still trying to grind him with her words.

"If it ain't for your lazy ass we'd be here earlier," she grumbled as she let herself fall to her seat, right at the very back "oh, morning to the rest of you. Not sure if it's a good one."

Tomoki & Baphomett

"You mean the ones where the dreamer is completely in control?" Knife no longer held in loss, he twirled it in his hand while giving the leftover bread a pitiful look. The bag bowed back. They both knew what was about to happen, as Baphomett dramatically ran his index finger across the blade's edge. Decisions, decisions, decisions. "Up until one year ago I got a ton of'em." Six loaves of wholewheat piled up between Tomo and Baph as the latter balled up the plastic-bag and scored it in the small bin beside the stove. "They were all nightmares though, if I recall." Now emptying out the container of cheese paste, he placed the now cramped plate to the side, cleaning the area and disposing of the bowl and knife into the sink.

Quickly exchanging the plate for a rectangular bowl with a cover, he packed it with the thirty-two cheese sandwiches, the other twelve alone to stand on a saucer, only to be evenly scarfed down.

“Oh. That blows. All done?” He asked as he looked at the rectangular bowl.

Perfect. The sandwiches came out lovely, and the six he’d eaten went down without a thought. Baphomett fixed the towel around his waist as it was getting a little slack. “Yep.” He answered, easing one more into his mouth as he departed for the bathroom.

“Awesome.” Tomoki checked the time. “We're doing great on time. Aren't you excited for our first day of school?!” He asked in a sarcastic, excited tone.

The shower was merely separated from the kitchen via a concrete wall probably around six inches thick, so he could hear his pal fairly clearly, even with the water raining on him. Good, they weren’t late. “You could say that.” Playing along, he echoed the mordacity. “Any plans for our arrival? I’m sure our classmates will be fun.” Baph was looking up now, his sourness towards schools fighting his genuine want to go. However, this didn’t change the end goal, and by Death’s weapons it never will. He lathered his skin with soap, washing his hair fiercely after, Baph always made sure all parts of him were not just clean, but sparkling. Stepping out of the bath, he dried off, making quick work of his teeth shortly after. Towel wrapped around him once more, he walked back to his room.

Before Tomoki returned to his room, he answered his partners question. “I was thinking maybe we could just bust in through a window.” Obviously joking, he walked back into his room and laid in his bed. He thought about how the school year would go and if there would be any cute girls. He knew that one thing he was going to enjoy was killing creatures consumed by a kishin egg.

Seconds passed by as Baphomett selected a random shirt and pants; he wore a grey three-quarter jeans, and a pink shirt with a black cat’s head on the front and the words ‘Kitty Powah’ beneath it. His bedroom was clean if the setup was excused, but the closet was just housing a pile of clothing unlike the ones properly folded in the dresser. Speaking of dresser, Baph took up his lucky pendant and his special bandana, both of them going around his neck. Officially ready to go, pink shirt made his way back to the kitchen where the sandwiches intended for breakfast stayed uneaten. Baph quickly solved the issue though, consuming them without a care in the world. “Hey Tomo, I think it’s time to go!” Brown hair looked around for a sign of time. “You almost ready?” Catching sight of the clock he nodded his head, it was no big deal, they were still good.

“Ready!” Tomoki said as he walked into the kitchen, zipping up his pants. His shirt was also halfway on, his toned abs and v-line partially being exposed. What Tomoki was doing shall remain unknown. Pulling his shirt completely on, he placed his hands on his hips and looked at Baph.”Let’s go.”

“Alright, just bag that lunch-tin there, and let’s hit the road.” As mentioned, Baphomett pointed to the cheese sandwiches. Afterall, while the process of making them all was short and practiced, it’d still be pointless if they forget their lunch. Standing before the front-door, he slipped into his black slacks, took the key from its hook, and unlocked the door, leaving the key in for his partner to finish the job.

Just like he was asked, Tomoki bagged the rectangle bowl full of cheese sandwiches and began walking towards the door. When he walked out and closed the door he could see that his partner left the key in the door for him to lock it with. Inserting the key into the keyhole, he quickly turned the key clockwise and after hearing the click sound, pulled the key out and caught up with his partner.

The door closed, and the duo were well on their way. It was a shortened trip, the regular walk or jog more along the sidewalk in the streets, but rather than reaching the destination after the bell, they detoured through an alleyway. Hence the reason they were so confident in being ‘good on time’. Sunlight hit them as they emerged from the shadows, carelessly approaching Death’s school; the D.W.M.A. They made it, and besides the long flight of stairs, the journey to the Eat-classroom was somewhat quick. Wrist angled to turn the knob Baph made the mistake of looking at the door, he swore he saw the face of his father’s partner, and seemingly outta nowhere his reflexes gave way to that controlled need to attack. BWACK!!! The boy nailed the door just above its center, the punched spot dented in as it flew a ways across the room’s front. Hahhhhh….! A long breath came out of the assailant as he calmy exited the diligently held position, the words on his shirt turning his intro into a bad joke.

Tomoki watched as Baphomett striked the door. “Uhhh everything ok?” he didn't know why he hit the door suddenly and was shocked. “Did the door… Do something you?” He asked, genuinely interested in if the door did something to his partner that made him react that way.

Sophia "Soph" Minerva Green

DWMA, Classroom 3B

Soph's eyes gently flitted about the classroom as more people entered, giving a nonchalant wave and "hello" to the people that entered next- Mieno, all by her lonesome, and then Lesta and Grimm. That means they were missing a couple pairs, but they were still a couple minutes before the professor was to come in, so it wasn't necessarily a tell-tale sign that something had went terribly wrong and resulted in all of their deaths.

This was the DWMA- anything was possible.

Soph put her palm against her chin when suddenly, an echoing crack spread through the room. The door to the classroom flew off its hinges and landed across the room like a fallen soldier. Entering the room was another duo and the resident DWMA cuties, Baph and Tomoki, joining the rest of the class with a bang.

Soph would be lying if she had said she didn't have the world's biggest crush on Baph in all his door-demolishing glory, with his wild look and ridiculous abs. Soph felt the feeling of a million pigeons flapping about in her stomach as soon as she glanced at him. She released a dreamy, romantic sigh, a hair louder than she should have. Viv would certainly tease her about her infatuation with the meister. Ah, well.

Still lost in her utter fascination with Baph, Soph dreamily glanced at the clock. The minutes until Day 1 of class began ticked away slowly.

Her footsteps continued in pace no matter what was said to her, he had maintained a respectable distance from her which was admirable in one sense. However he seemed to misunderstand she could clear the space in mere seconds if he tried to stay away from her wrath. Despite them being partners, well she hadn't made too much in the way of opening up to him. This wasn't because he was an individual lacking in reason or anything... she just didn't feel the need to do such, resonance was supposed to be two souls working together in harmony and yet she didn't feel quite ready for that yet. It wasn't really a commitment but he was supposed to be a partner she could lean on, and she has done that literally, so the fact they hadn't grown that much closer was something that drew a few others attention. There was truly no need to mind them though as everyone was entitled to believe as they would: Some being a bit harsher in their judgement than others.

Around this point Ayame and her partner had arrived at the entrance to the school and she had listened, half-caring, to her partner who spoke a little of his adventures along with a comment on her. She reached into her pocket and pulled out the container of mints, this was followed by the sound of a zipper moving and the shaking of a container. No one would've seen the pink tongue wriggle out of the zipper to obtain a few mints before receding back into wherever it came form. She zipped the zipper shut once more and silence took over for a few moments as she got to the entrance. Taking a drawn out breath the taste of mint filled her mouth and allowed for a small smile to appear. How on Earth a situation like this occurred was unknown, but it could be assumed that some form of strange magic had enforced this or maybe it was something to do with the tongue. "Well Ramone is known for having the best chest among the guards... I'd consider that a win for you." She shot a glance back at him before continuing through the halls. It would be best if he followed her but it wasn't unusual for her to walk at a fast enough pace that she lost someone halfway into guiding them.

A thought crossed her mind and she couldn't help but smirk for a moment, but this died away after a second and returned to her usual calm expression as she walked. "That would imply me caring for the type that reside there, only a true low-life would seek out the 'skankiest' of the bunch." She peered over her shoulder, a singular blue iris cutting past her black clothing to look at Matthias and then returning to look forward. She may have been insinuating something with her glance but the message was really up to the receiving end of it. "Speaking of applying yourself... how's the partial coming? You've surely made some progress if you have the time to leisurely play with Ramone." Her tone remained almost analytical to one extent, not clearly dictating whether her statement held venom or was just a passing word. Continuing forward she noted that they were coming up on the classroom door, or what would have been the classroom door had it not been for the fact it was missing.

Her eyebrow twitched in annoyance before she shook her head, "Looks like they've done it again." She muttered this quietly before continuing on her way and moving around the... iconic duo? Regardless of what you called them, she made her way around and found her seat.

A few more students rolled in, taking their various seats around the room. A split second later, the sound of a ringing bell pierced the (for the most part) silent atmosphere, and just another s second after that the professor walked in. Professor van Helsing was the main EAT class professor- a tall, lanky man hitting the mid-age years. He had a frivolous head of hair that was perfectly gray, with a matching-colored beard to boot. He wore a pair of spectacles that was perched on his slightly-hooked nose, and a lit cigar was clenched between his teeth, emanating the peculiar scent of lavenders. He was dressed in a black pinstriped suit and a ridiculously red tie.

He reminded Soph of a spider, with his long, spindly limbs, slightly hunched posture, and dangerous yellow eyes. However, very few could claim van Helsing was a bad teacher. He was peculiar, no doubt about it, but his lessons on evil races, combat, and basic magic were unforgettable (in the best way).

"Good morning, class," the professor said, grabbing his clipboard and an old-fashioned-looking red pen. "Welcome back from your summertime slumbers. Pray you didn't forget your skills." His voice was rather deep and had a slight Germanic accent. He made several markings on his clipboard, likely running through attendance.

"Alright." van Helsing slapped his clipboard down onto his desk. "Now, for your first day back, I figured we might try something a little different from the normal. I thought we should host a few sparring matches. They would allow you to retrain your fighting muscles from the break and prepare you for the Death Festival next month." He grinned. "Also, I heard through the grapevine enjoyed a competitive match here and there."

His yellow eyes scanned the eager students. "We'll be doing the matches out front by the stairs. This classroom is spacious enough for basic weapon demonstrations, but not for full-on matches." He picked up his clipboard again, tucking it under his armpit. "I'll need 2 pairs to volunteer first, before we go."

Soph looked at her partner, knowing that Viv enjoyed a good tussle. "I'm down if you are," the British teen said simply. It had been a while, but Soph felt ready.

After the bell finally rang to make an end to the bothersome wait, Vivian couldn't help but smile at the sight of her beloved professor. Everything, from his clothing style to his personality was just ridiculous, but in a good way. Viv always felt more energetic by his appearance, but who wouldn't when faced by a man so immensely confident and amazing as a whole.

Vivian eagerly listened to the familiar voice of the professor, one that, only now that she heard it again, she realized she had missed.

Despite the sudden awakening of energy within, Vivian did feel a light sense of ever-so-slight insecurity dwell within upon the mentioning of 'forgetting one's skills'. Sure, she had trained quite a bit, but there had been plenty of lazy days that she might regret just a little momentarily. Nevertheless, Vivian was still certain she could dish out a good smacking, with or without her umbrella.

Although Vivian probably could've survived a regular class right now, she did feel rather excited the moment the alternative option was given. Sparring matches were something that she enjoyed perhaps a little too much. The mere thought of getting a chance to show her classmates, or anyone for that matter, who's boss made her even more excited than she already was. One thing was certain, she was gonna give it her all as if her life depended on it.

Vivian listened carefully to the instructions as to make sure she wouldn't miss anything important. At times like these, the inner bear within would finally wake up from its hibernation, ready for some tasty action.

Vivian's expression lit up as she heard of the chance to volunteer. She was most certainly interested, causing her to wistfully look at her partner who gave her an answer that made her happier than the egg she had been blessed with this very morning.

Offering a quick yet satisfied nod to Sophie, Vivian's hand flew into the air with a message following up immediately. "Right here! We'd be delighted to volunteer, Professor" she would say, her tone carried with confidence and energy. She was more than ready to do this.

Almost immediately after a few more students rolled in after Tomoki and his partner, the loud rattling chatter of metal on metal could be heard, signaling the beginning of class. Tomoki watched as their teacher walked in and studied him. As he studied him, he kicked his feet onto the table and leaned back. He preferred to be comfortable in class.

"Well good morning to you, too." Tomoki said, responding to their teachers greeting. He continued to listen on to what else the professor had to say. When Tomoki heard his comment on forgetting skills he laughed lightly. Instead of forgetting his skills, he improved them. Then the teacher brought up sparring on the first day. Tomoki didn't really feel excited or upset about this. He was more of in like an "eh, whatevs" type mood about this.

Nonetheless, he looked over at his partner, Baph, in case he wanted to volunteer. If so, Tomoki was down.

Yori
Yori plopped down in the seat next to his partner, stretching his legs. He only half-listened as Professor van Helsing welcomed them back from summer vacation, glancing at the clock. He didn't care for the Professor. He didn't see the point of getting attached to someone he wouldn't see after he graduated. think much of the man. He didn't have a problem with his teaching, but didn't see the point of getting attached to someone he wouldn't see again after he graduated.

He felt a spark of interest when the Professor said they would be starting the day off with sparring matches. Maybe the day wouldn't be as much of a waste of time as he thought it was going to be. He also took a mental note of the Death Festival being in a month, which he'd forgotten about. Yori leaned forward, tuning the Professor out as he took note of his potential opponents. Sophia the battle umbrella. Most would underestimate her, but she only made him feel wary. He didn't know what to expect from her. Yori wasn't fully sure of what she was capable of.

He turned to look at the meteor hammer, Seren. She was a dual-range weapon, useable at both short and long range. He thought that she would be the most trouble for him and Mieno. If given a choice, he would rather not go up against her and her partner. Next was Matthias, the flameberge. Yori wanted him as a sparring partner. It would be a more even match than if he was faced with Seren, and he wasn't as unpredictable as Sophia. He glanced at, then away from Damien, the grimoire. Out of everyone, Yori wanted to face him the least. Going up against a weapon that was only long range might be good practice, but it sounded like it would be annoying.

Last was Tomoki, the scythe. A better choice than Damien or Seren, but not by much. Yori sighed and leaned back, crossing his arms. He would wait a bit and come up with a strategy while Sophia and whoever else volunteered were going at it. It would also be a good chance to see what they were capable of.

Another day of class only brought excitement, and the mention of a duel only brought more. Even though she was never one to seek out combat on her own free will, dueling usually was thrilling and really got the blood flowing. It also meant that someone would get participation points seeing as they never got them in any other instance. And it wasnt like Mieno didnt like fighting herself. She actually quite enjoyed it.

"We'd also love to volunteer, sir" Mieno raised her arm a bit to catch attention, looking over to Yori. Well, it wasnt like she needed to ask him. Knowing him he wouldnt actually say anything, but still get mad from not being involved. It was a singular mistake she made in the past, and needless to say a grumpier than usual Yori was displeasing.

Even though most of her classmates were well off in the fighting category, and she wouldnt really mind fighting any of them, Mieno didnt really want to fight Seren. Usually the excuse would be something along the lines of fighting style or something other. But no, Mieno had seen Seren scolding another student on lack of elegance or motivation, both of which her meister lacked. She was a fairly scary person.

Matthias found his way to his seat alongside his partner, not bothering to answer her question. The partial transformations had been going terribly. It was nothing short of the greatest roadblock in his training. Most things came easily to him, but this, for some reason, eluded him. Despite hours of study, meditation, and focus, he hadn't been able to make so much as a finger transform on its own. Avoiding Ayame's gaze, he pulled out his notes and pretended to read through them as he puffed out a cloud of aromatic smoke to conceal his downcast face. He was relieved when the teacher came in and started barking out the day's announcements. Matthias had made it to class on time today, and with that, he could return to his usual smug self. His cloud of shame soon dissipated into elegant curls of pinkish smoke.

Honestly, he didn't care much for sparring matches. His fellow students were far less interesting their usual devilish prey, and fighting them in the open wasn't nearly as fun as hunting down a monster with wit and cunning. Additionally, he and Ayame still weren't the most synchronized in combat. She fought exceptionally, and the weapon seemed to suit her, but he could tell that there were still issues with their teamwork. He could sense her dismay every time she got a faceful of the smoke that trailed off his blade form with every swing. The smoke was supposed to purify the air of evil and ward away curses, but it seemed to be more of a hindrance to his partner than an asset. He wouldn't show it, and he certainly wouldn't say it outright, but he feared that he was a burden on his young partner.

He leaned over to strategize with Ayame in a whisper. "If you feel like volunteering, I think our best shot would be against Meino and Yori. If we can rush in under their defenses they'll have no way to stop us from having a bit of fun." He scanned the classroom, looking for other options, people he felt would be at an inherent disadvantage to their fighting style. "We might be able to fight a battle of attrition against Sophia. That is...if you think your stamina can hold up," he taunted Ayame, goading her into battle. Perhaps his teasing habits would get him into trouble one day. But for now, he felt that their dynamic proved useful, and until they learned to grow closer, it was the best synergy they had.
