Please don't post here, thanks!

Just a place for me to showcase my characters as I finish up their character
sheets. I'm open to constructive criticism of the characters themselves or
the actual writing, but please send it through PM to avoid cluttering up the
thread. If you would like to RP with any of these characters (either 1x1 or
in a group), feel free to PM me about that as well!

Note that the large majority of my characters don't have face claims as
they were made quite some time ago with just written descriptions.

Keirden Stafford

"It was not in the nature of princes to forget wrongs or forgive them."

Nicknames: Keir, Princey

Age: 17-23

Gender: (Trans) Male

Sexuality: Gay

BASIC INFORMATION:

Eyes: Light blue | Hair: Medium blonde, usually messy or windswept looking. He doesn't get it trimmed as often as he should, the back grows down past his shoulders before he does anything about it, and his bangs are almost always in his eyes. | Skin Tone: Extremely pale. | Height: 5'3 (160 cm) | Weight: 135 lbs (61 kg) | Body Type: Fairly average build with more weight in his thighs and stomach area. | Birthday: November 17th (Scorpio) | Tattoos, Piercings, etc: None, he'd like some but he's petrified of needles. ☆─

─☆ Style: Keir is often seen in one of two styles: fancy, sometimes over-the-top suits, or a casual outfit often consisting of a hoodie, denim shorts, and combat boots. Either way you can expect him to be wearing one of his many crowns on his head. | Other: He's nearsighted so he always wears glasses or contacts. For special events where there will be lots of people or cameras he usually opts for contacts, but at home or for casual outings he goes for his glasses which have big plain black plastic frames.

PERSONALITY:

"The habits of years are not unlearned so quickly. Do not make the mistake of believing that he does not love you because he plays at not caring."

─☆ After being thrust into the limelight not long after moving in with his father, Keirden started building up a personality for the media. He wouldn't call it a "fake" personality, just an exaggeration of how he is in his private life - he's always a bit extravagant and over-dramatic, but he turns it up even more in public. He almost always manages to draw attention at any party or event he's at due to his over-the-top style and personality. While he's usually not quite as extreme when he's not in the public eye, he still has a loud personality most of the time. Keirden has always had a bad temper and won't hesitate to throw hands or sharp words if you get on his bad side, the easiest way to anger him is by insulting or hurting someone he cares about - he's extremely protective of those he loves, especially his little brother Kyrin. Very blunt, he'll tell it how it is without any sugarcoating, often coming off as rude or uncaring in the process. He has a difficult time opening up to people and often becomes very emotionally distant, however once he trusts someone he can get very clingy. Despite his somewhat abrasive personality, he is a very caring and empathetic person and the most loyal you will ever meet.

BIOGRAPHY:

"When all hope is gone I'm stronger than I've been before. I'm not afraid, you won't break me down."

─☆ Born to a successful business man father, Silus Stafford, who also has ties to various underground operations, and a failed wannabe-superstar mother, Melony, who had never wanted kids, you could say his life didn't start off that great. His father adored Keirden from the moment he was born, however he knew he would never be able to know his child, for Keirden's safety. Silus had ended up on bad terms with some very dangerous people, who had sworn to kill anyone close to him - not willing to risk his child's safety, he sent him away with his mother and a large sum of money to care for them. He ordered Melony to cease all contact with him, find another man to act as Keirden's father and change Keir's last name to his, insisting he can never know who his real father is lest he try to contact Silus in the future. Doing this broke his father's heart, but it had to be done to keep baby Keirden safe.
─☆ Keirden spent the first few years of his life with his mother and the man he thought was his father. They provided all the essentials - food, a bed, and clothes - but neither of them had too much time for him, too preoccupied with their own lives to care for a child beyond the bare minimum. Unwilling to pay for a babysitter, he was left alone fending for himself most of the day while his so-called "father" was at work and his mother what out doing who-knows-what. Eventually, the marriage fell apart and his thought-to-be-father walked out on them, which caused his mother to realize she couldn't deal with having a child any longer - she never wanted one to begin with. She packed up Keir's things, telling him they were going to spend a few nights at his grandparents house as they had before, but she dropped him off never to return. From that day on Keirden's grandparents raised him as their own, in a small town in the midwest United States. Life was better, for the most part, living with his grandparents - they were loving and attentive and tried to give him the best life they could.
─☆ He was always a shy and somewhat awkward child, never the best at making friends or communicating with other people, but upon starting school he did manage to make a small group of friends that he kept for quite a few years. He did really well in school and was even a bit of a "teacher's pet", he sat quietly and did his work, always getting straight A's. Things were good, up until his life came crashing down around him during middle school ... at least that's what it felt like at the time. Every aspect of Keirden's life throughout middle and early high school was like a living hell.
─☆ He was thirteen when he first started to seriously question his gender identity - becoming increasing more uncomfortable in his own body, cringing when he was called a "beautiful young lady", hating the sound of his own name. He tried to deny it, tried to tell himself that it was just a phase and it would pass if he just stopped worrying about it - but it didn't pass, it wasn't just a phase, and ignoring it was becoming more difficult by the day. He was lost, he didn't know what to do; as much as they loved him, his family would never accept this. He'd heard all too many times how they felt about the subject. So he would never tell them - he would keep this secret his whole life long, as to not burden others or ruin his relationship with them. There wasn't much question to it, he couldn't risk losing his family, he couldn't be alone.
─☆ Keirden learned about fake friends the hard way. The friends he had for years abandoned him for new ones - more popular ones - once they reached middle school. Nothing happened between them, there was no fight or falling out, they just ghosted him until he gave up. If he hadn't had bad enough abandonment and trust issues from his childhood, he definitely did now. From that point forward Keir was a complete loner both in and out of school. He had no idea how to talk to people and make friends, especially now that everyone already has their own little clique. How the hell was he supposed to fit in, now that he had no one at all?
─☆ Around that same time, he began to develop severe social anxiety and minor depression - his mental well-being was practically nonexistent. His grades started slipping rapidly, he couldn't keep up with the work, he had no motivation to do so. Everyone could tell there was something wrong, this just wasn't like him - he had cried last semester when he got a B+ instead of an A. He used to be the most obedient kid ever, crying if he didn't the smallest thing wrong, and now he was skipping class, getting into fights, and yelling at the adults. He still cried because of the dropping grades, was terrified every time he missed class, but he didn't have enough energy to change things and just couldn't handle being around that many people. He was scared of what everyone would think - how would they react to this sudden change? How was he supposed to explain it to them when he didn't understand it himself? but when his grandparents saw the report card they weren't angry like he'd thought they'd be, just disappointed and worried about him. No one could understand what was happening to the near-perfect child.
─☆ Keirden's grandparents took him to a specialist where he was diagnosed with social anxiety and depression and given medication for it, but it didn't seem to help much. They went to the principal, wanting to see what could be done to make class easier for Keir, but the school refused to provide any help. While his grandparents had his best interest at heart, they truly didn't understand what was wrong or how to help, and he wasn't sure how to explain it to them. They began arguing a lot, Keirden would be upset after getting home from school and would get frustrated by the smallest things when he was home - he would spend more time arguing with his grandparents than not. He was tearing his family apart.
─☆ Upon hitting high school, things somehow managed to get even worse for Keir. The staff was much more harsh than they had been in middle school, even resorting to dragging him out of the room when he had panic attacks, and giving him detention for using any of the coping methods that his therapists had told him to use. He still had no friends and had started to hear the comments people made about him behind his back, though he couldn't care less what they had to say about him.
─☆ As he matured Keirden's dysphoria only worsened and he resorted to all kinds of methods to bind his chest or hide his long hair. Nothing would work, you could always tell he had breasts and long hair; he wasn't fooling anyone and it wasn't helping him in the slightest. He had times where he would try to force himself to be a girl - wear dresses and makeup, do his hair up nice, and it made everyone else happy. He hated every second of it, but did that really matter as long as he still had his family?
─☆ By the end of his Sophomore year he was completely shattered, surviving only off of pure anger and spite at his situation, he swore that he would never give in to this life no matter how much he had to suffer. But, God, was it hard. He'd thought of giving up so many times, but he had to prove he was stronger than this. How was he going to survive two more years of this hell? How had he survived the last few? Because he had too, he didn't have a choice.
─☆ When he was sixteen, during the summer between his Sophomore and Junior year of high school, he was helping his grandmother clean out the storage closet. While moving out boxes and going through them, he found part of a letter that his mother had sent to his grandmother when he was only a year old. The paper had be ripped, the bottom half was nowhere to be found, and there ware lots of stains in the middle of what was left, but a portion could still be made out. "... went to Keirden's real father for money, he called me a greedy bitch. What an ass! So much money yet he can't spare any for the mother of his child!" Confused, he asked his grandmother if he had been lied to about who is father is. Reluctantly, she told him what she knew - which wasn't much - just that the man he knew as his father, wasn't, and that his real father had sent him and his mother away for a reason she didn't know. Keirden tucked the letter into his pocket while she wasn't looking before going back to cleaning.
─☆ Late that night he got online and found his mother on social media. He hadn't heard from her in over ten years and had never had any interest in reaching out to her, but now he needed answers. He created a fake profile to message her from, not wanting her to have his real account, and sent her a message asking about his real father, including a picture of the letter. "Hey mom, it's me ... I know we haven't spoke in years and that you want nothing to do with me. I just have a question that I think only you can answer, who is my real father? I know that the man you were married to when I was younger, who you told me was my father, isn't. I found this letter in the closet when we were cleaning today where you said you went to my "real father" for money. I just wanna know who he really is." Her reply was short and she blocked him shortly after, "Silus Stafford. I'm not the one who told you," but that was all the information Keir needed. He looked up the name and thousands of links showed up, businesses and contact information for them, social media profiles, news articles, even a Wikipedia page. After hours of reading about and debating trying to contact him, he finally sent an email to the account listed for business inquiries. He'd retyped it too many times to count before settling on a short, direct message, knowing he would never truly be happy with it. "Silus Stafford. Hi. This is probably really strange, but I'll get right to the point: I have reason to believe you are my father. I grew up thinking another man was my father, until tonight when I found a letter my mother wrote to my grandmother when I was little. She mentioned going to my "real father" for money. I messaged her to ask who my father really is, and she gave me your name (and told me that she isn't the one who told me, for some reason). Her name is Melony, she's changed her last name a lot on impulse so I don't know what she would have went by went you knew her, but she's currently going by Melony Price. I'm currently 16 and my birthday is November 17th. Were you ever with someone named Melony 16-17 years ago? Do you know if you had a child together?" He was terrified.
─☆ The first thing Keirden did the next morning was check his email - and he had a reply. It was sent from a different account than the one he had sent he original message to, this one looked to be a personal account. "Yes, dear. I was involved with a woman named Melony during that time, and we did have a child together. I sent you away for your own safety, and told your mother that you could never know who I am so that you couldn't contact me. It looks like she failed at doing that, to which I'm not surprised but also incredibly thankful. It was never what I wanted when I sent you away and cut all contact, it's that being close to me then would have been a great danger to you. I did it out of love. I'm in a much different place in life now and there's no longer any significant danger to those around me anymore. I've thought of reaching out to you over the past few years, but thought it would be in your best interest that I didn't. If you believed that another man was your father and he had raised you, I didn't want to confuse you or mess with your relationship with him. I was incredibly happy, albeit shocked, when I read your email this morning. I was skeptical at first, but all the names and dates match up perfectly, and your mother and those she's told would be the only ones to know anything about me having a child. I don't know what you were hoping for when you reached out to me, if you just wanted confirmation of who your father is, or if you may want to have some form of relationship, but I'll respect your wishes whatever you decide. I would love to get to know you and finally be some sort of father to you, but I understand fully if you just needed closure on who I am and nothing more. Either way you're always welcome to contact me whenever you wish and I will always be here. You can continue to email me on this account, or text or call me at this number: xxx-xxx-xxxx. - Your father, Silus Stafford."
─☆ Keirden reread the email a few times, trying to process it. This was in fact his father, and he could have a relationship with him if he wanted. It's not like he didn't have a good father figure in his life, his grandfather was amazing, but wouldn't it be nice to know his real father? He didn't know how he was going to explain this to his grandparents or how they would react, but he began emailing back and forth with his father, getting to know each other for the first time in over sixteen years.
─☆ Over the next few months Keirden and Silus kept in contact without his grandparents knowing, Keirden had even started getting to know Silus's husband, Keirden's stepfather, Makoto Arai-Stafford. He became particularly close to his stepfather after finding out he's also trans, Makoto was the first person Keirden came out to and he greatly helped him figure things out. Keir was also able to come out to his father shortly after that, knowing he would be accepting of it seeing as his husband was also trans. Finally being able to share that secret and realizing some people would still love and accept his regardless relieved a lot of hurt and stress for Keirden, he felt he could talk to them about anything. He loved his father and stepfather and would always be insanely grateful he had found that letter and went through with finding them.
─☆ After confiding in Silus and Makoto about his problems at school and at home, saying how much he hated his life there, his father offered for Keirden to come live with them in New York. He was ecstatic at the thought of living with them and being able to start over in a different place where no one knew him, it was all he had ever hoped for. But he was still a minor, and his grandparents had custody of him, so he wasn't going anywhere with anyone without them agreeing. How the hell was he supposed to convince them to let him move to a different state with two men they had never even heard of before? That evening Keirden sat down with his grandparents in the living room for the conversation he was dreading. He started at the beginning when he found that letter, and explained how he was able to contact his father and had been talking to him for months now. After bringing up that he wanted to move to New York with them, his grandparents gave him a resounding "No way in hell." He tried to explain why he wanted to go so bad, why he needed to get away from here for his own well-being, but soon realized he wasn't going to get them to budge. He ran to his room to grab his laptop and asked his father if he could have a video chat with his grandparents to talk about this - Silus agreed, of course.
─☆ They sat there for hours, Keirden, his grandparents, father and stepfather, eventually deciding that Silus and Makoto would fly down to visit and meet Keirden and his grandparents in person. Keir was overjoyed that he was finally going to meet them in person, and hoped that after spending time with them his grandparents would agree to let him go.
─☆ Keir's wishes came true after Silus and Makoto spent a few weeks with them, his grandparents reluctantly agreed for Keirden to go to New York with Silus and Makoto. At the end of summer just before the start of school, Keirden packed his things and flew to New York with his parents. They agreed that the first thing they'd do when they got to New York was take Keirden to get his hair cut how he wanted - something his grandparents never allowed - and buy him a real binder, and that's exactly what they did after they dropped off their bags at home. At the time Keir was still going by his birth name, having not given much thought to a different name that he thought he would never get the chance to use. His father picked the name "Keirden" for him - he had asked Silus and Makoto for name ideas, and his father told him that had he been born a boy he would have been named Keirden. He liked the name and loved that it's the name his father chose for him, it's what he's gone by ever since.
─☆ Not wanting to deal with all the stress of school anymore, Keirden convinced Silus to let him finish high school online. He finished the online courses quickly, more than a year before he would have graduated had he been in a traditional school. Keir still spoke to his grandparents regularly, making sure they knew he was doing okay - they still weren't keen on the idea of him living in New York, hours away, with his father who he had known less than a year, but they could tell he was much happier there.
─☆ As a child Keirden had always had big dreams, he always dreamed of having a life like this, but never imagined it would actually happen ... especially not so suddenly and easily. It felt like a dream, as if he would be woken up at any moment, told he was running late for school again. Despite the shock of how suddenly it happened, he took quickly to the high life. Wearing fancy clothes, going to extravagant parties, getting everything he could ever want with nothing but a wave of his hand - it was amazing, though he never took it for granted, he made sure to always remind himself of how his life had been just a couple years earlier and how lucky he was to be where he is now. His life got much better after moving in with his father and stepfather, but not all problems disappear over night, or ever - he stilled struggled with anxiety and knew his gender dysphoria would never totally go away, but he'd become much more confident and comfortable with himself making everything much more manageable.
─☆ On the day of his eighteenth birthday Keirden got his name legally changed to "Keirden Stafford", now that his grandparents had no say in the matter. He did end up coming out to them, and they certainly weren't happy about it, but they respected his wishes. On another note, his birthday present to himself that year was his cat Estelle - a ragdoll mix that he found at the shelter.
─☆ Not long after he turned eighteen, he found out he had a half-brother name Kyrin, who was three years younger than him. Kyrin had been in a similar situation as Keirden in that their father sent him away as a baby with his mother, however Kyrin had always known who his father was even though they didn't have much contact. When Ky was fifteen his mother went to prison so he contacted his father, Silus, and came to live with them. Keirden became very close - and extremely protective - of his little brother, despite their vastly different personalities.
─☆ Over the next few years as he became more outgoing and adventurous, Keirden did, for better or worse, begin to gain more attention from the media. Liking his privacy and personal space, he's been known to tell them off when they overstep even if it ultimately doesn't do much good. With the media beginning to watch his every move, he did mange to get himself into some messy drama ... mostly thanks to his won't-take-shit-from-anyone and not-so-occasional bad attitude.
