  1. Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully respond to this post. Given I have not much of anything yet, I will be extremely brief. I am working on an enduring roleplay setting that is "small" but comprehensive with plenty of detail but room to expand. It is something that I wouldn't mind having several iterations, being used by others canonically or non-canonically. Essentially, a stock dark fantasy setting for RPN. In the setting, I'm looking to develop the following themes: -the setting will be grimdark, dominated by gloomy weather, cold, and rain as well as dark forests and old, crumbling towns -the setting will convey a sense of things being ancient and there will be a sense of stagnation in the social, political, and economic structure -there will be no conventional fantasy races, however, subspecies of humans have formed through exposure to magick, certain environmental elements, and inbreeding or breeding between humans and beasts -conventional animals such as horses and dogs do not exist, but analogs exist such as "wagon-beasts" which are akin to oxen, and "singers" which are mammalian analogs to birds; overall the setting has a disturbing lack of biodiversity -civilization in the setting is composed almost entirely of small, isolated villages with Nightwatchman States; empire and warfare are entirely unknown -the technological progress of the setting is a stunted mixture of medieval and early modern elements; clothing is indicative of the European 18th and 19th centuries, rudimentary plumbing is used by the nobility, and steam power sees limited use; however, gunpowder, mass production, and early modern medical practices and science are non-existent -life is very hard, for almost everyone; even the nobility who project status but are really only a few calories above the commoners; farming is laborious, the land is fallow, and many of the beasts are uneatable or bitter in taste -there is almost no sense of military tradition, and most of the military force of the towns is used to repel monsters or wild animals -many individuals are highly religious, and often carry pendants imbued with white magick to protect themselves; spirits are said to exist (and actually do exist) and conform with the Three Cardinal Sins: Hate, Greed, and Lust. Spirits also exist that conform with the Three Cardinal Virtues: Love, Charity, and Restraint. -magic is always spelled with a K, no exceptions -the names in the setting will be Anglo-Germanic in theme -Black Magick and White Magick are equally strong -I will probably think of more as I go along So these are the themes/elements I want to incorporate into the setting. Eventually, I will have a map and a detailed list of important characters, organizations, etc. I'm working on a short-story that I will post here to showcase the themes I'm working with and a particular part of the setting. I would like to hear some feedback, ideas for other elements that could be incorporated in the setting, ideas for animals and plants, ideas for monsters and enemies, etc.
  2. I may be running a con game in a few months. The game will be a one-shot, four hour, FATE or FATE Accelerated game. I want to based the setting on Matrix and Ready Player One. I want to be able to reference some common media as short hand to make the con game go faster. I am looking for advice on my world setting to see if it is too complex for a one shot game. This is what I have so far: Due to pollution and lack of resources, Earth is basically uninhabitable. The entire human population (besides a few hold outs) have retreated to a virtual reality world. The virtual reality world is separate in the "haves" and "have nots". The wealthy reside on high end servers in worlds that give the god like powers. The poor reside on servers with simple physics and no cool powers. People occasionally disappear from the poorer servers. There are two types of currency. Virtual and Real life. Virtual currency allows you to buy virtual reality items. Real life currency pays for your body's upkeep, any medical costs, and allows you to buy unhooked time in the real world. People wealthy in real world funds can buy their own servers and hire their own programmers and system admins to support their own game world. The exchange rate between virtual and real world currency is insane. It is possible to be rich in virtual currency and not have any real world currency. Everyone still has jobs, but there are more virtual driven. Some people are hired as NPCs in the system. Others do data entry. Some lease out their brains for data processing. Programmers are those with the skills to create and edit new code within the contraints of the server setting. Programmers create new items, buildings, vehicles. Some even edit the source code of the server itself. They are licensed by the server owners. Once was a lucrative job, but now they are hired at a freelance basis. When not working on a job, they get their create access removed. Sysadmins are the equivalent to the police/maintenance workers. Everyone fears them. Some Sysadmins are corrupt. Some managed to forge travel passes for better servers. Others abuse their power over the population. The government provided each person with a stipend that is enough to pay to support their body's upkeep. If you run out of funds, you get cut off. You either have to fend for yourself in the polluted real world or you can choose euthanasia. There is a bit of political wrangling about why people are paid money instead of just supporting them without payment. The PCs will be part of a Matrix like resistance group. The resistance believes the government/corporation/whoever is running the servers does not have their best interests in mind. As everything is virtual, the resistance believes that everyone should have free travel access to any server they wish. Other resistance wants: They want the poorer servers to be upgraded. They want a higher stipend to give people a bit of spending money in the real world. They want more accountability for sysadmins. They want more creative rights for programmers. The PCs are hackers. They come from various backgrounds (former sysadmin, programmers, people kicked off better servers, people who grew up on poor servers. people who grew up on the outside world) can hack the system in various ways and break the physics of the virtual world, similar to the Matrix. This is very illegal and after three offenses is punishable by exile from the Virtual World. Hacker buy modules from rogue programmers to gain their abilities. What do you guys think? I will add more details as I think of them.
  3. Telmarion World Building Hem... Mic Test.. One two One two. Hi everyone ! I'm currently working on the lore, rules, monsters, races, locations, cities, deities, traditions, plants, metals, weapons, armors, languages, economy, magic, food recipes and clothing of the land of Telmarion. As you can imagine it's a lot of work, but I don't care as I absolutely love world building. But hey ! You can help me ! Yes you ! You who have all those wonky ideas that made you laugh shamefully for no reason while in front of your friends ! You who thought of ridiculous situation that could happen during history ! You who likes to make some insane cooking recipes that just need a bit of magic to work ! You who likes to write about everything and anything ! You who likes to create good rules system for crafting, magic or other things ! I need YOU ! But I'm sure you will ask : "Dang Son ! What's that roleplay / universe about ?" Well, I'm sure gonna tell you. Telmarion is a land of opportunities, craziness, dead adventurers, strange contraptions and hostile fauna ! I'm creating this world for two reasons which are : 1. Creating a world is awfully fun 2. I intend to use that world for a future roleplay, and we need all the info we can get, even if it seems pointless ! Even if you just have a small trivial info to add to my world, it will increase immersion and I'd be thankful of it. I have created an hosted project with a few chat posts to assist us during that great work. Feel free to join if you are interested ! The project is currently kinda empty, let's make sure we fill everything with things !
  4. EVO: A VR MMO [Always Accepting!]

For all new joining members, this RP is currently under construction. Currently I(KingMalikai) am sorting out the story and overall layout. You can hang out and introduce yourself in the OOC for right now, I will have things set up to take new character sheets eventually and will start the story sometime in 1-2 weeks. Enjoy your stay here as we set things up!
  5. The Principle Journey

===================================================================================== ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Principle Journey ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ===================================================================================== ===================================================================================== " Welcome to the World of Elegos. Your arrival here is a blessing to all life in this world. May the winds of fortune smile upon you, and grant your life with peace and prosperity. And may you, the one holding this life warm the Universe with your good deeds." - Hadiyah, the Guide to Righteousness Peacekeeper. The Glad Tidings of the Newborn ============================================ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ============================================ When the world was still young, angels and demons fought for control over it. These spirit forces did battle on the plains of existence ravaging the land they coveted greatly. The mortals of Elegos caught in between this great war, were powerless to defend themselves, much less the home given to them by the Universe. Celestial years passed by with no end in sight for the abuse of the world and its inhabitants. All life feared the planets imminent destruction. Before an irreparable wrong could be accomplished to the planet, Elegos herself used her life-force and empowered 10 mortals, individuals who were to represent all life on Elegos, to take part in this great war and end it once and for all time. The 10 mortals, from then onward known as the Arbitrators of the Elements gathered together and united their powers completely wiping out all of the spirit forces that waged this terrible battle. Soon thereafter Elegos appointed 2 individuals known as the Celestial Guardians and tasked them to watch over the 2 gates that connected the spirit realm to the physical planes. Since then eons have passed. The tale of the Great War and the legend of the Arbitrators are now passed on to children as bedtime stories. Parents regale this story to them so that they may come to appreciate how precious life really is. However it now seems legend will become reality. It is the year 997 C.Y.A.D., and unbeknownst to most life on Elegos, the stories of the past are about to relive their glory with the blood of innocents. Nearly 1000 years previous, unknown forces brought about the ruination of Eden and She'ol, the Celestial Guardians tasked with forever protecting the gates of the spirit realm. The end would have come about much sooner, if not for the fact that the Guardians sealed the gate with their life-force. However the seal was measured to only last 1000 years. Because of these events, those of us with the knowledge of this ominous certain future, delve into the research of finding a way to prevent another Great War to wreak havoc upon our world. This information must be kept secret. In the wrong hands it could lead to disaster. - Excerpt of Legends by Merediah Keeper of the Holyland
  6. The Fall of Carina Cromwell Pierce was adopted into a very prestigious life. Being taken in by Pontiff Archaeus, head of the Luma Clan, brought Cromwell a luxurious and pious life. He grew up as an acolyte of the clan. In his youth he learned the laws and teachings of Lady Nivaaneth. Nivaaneth being the Goddess of Light worshiped by the Luma. Sixteen years passed of peaceful living as the Pontiff's child. For a long time, many believed Cromwell was destined for greatness. Many believed he was set to succeed his step father. But after those sixteen years, temptation wormed its way into Cromwell's life. One day, Cromwell met a young girl who stood at the steps of the Grand Cathedral. The two of them grew to be close friends in no time and Cromwell spent his days looking forward to seeing the girl once again. Everyday he played with the girl and told her of his days. She never seemed impressed with the doctrines the Luma drilled into Cromwell's mind. Years passed and Cromwell turned eighteen. He had become a man and his relationship with the girl grew complicated. Very soon after Cromwell's coming of age, he and the girl fornicated. During this carnal act, the true nature of this girl was revealed. Cromwell was horrified to find out that he had intercourse, not with a beautiful young woman, but sultry succubus. A vile devil straight from the bowels of Hell. The very act of sharing intimacy with the succubus had forced Cromwell into a pact with the succubus. Upon completion of this contract, the succubus reveals unto Cromwell her true name. Loreyneth. The Clan immediately persecuted Cromwell. His own step father had Cromwell scourged. As his body was stripped down and tortured rage began to fester within Cromwell's heart. Rage that Loreyneth could feed off of. The more torture Cromwell endured the more enraged he became, until finally, he exploded. Cromwell unleashed a storm of Hellfire that burned throughout the Grand Cathedral. When the fire finally cleared, Cromwell found the scorched bodies of all those that had raised him, and the very man who adopted him. Cromwell's father was dead and that night became known as the Night of Embers. 3 years passed and Cromwell abandoned his name. He had used many over the years as an Nomad. He traveled across the land meeting new people and discovering new places. All of this was just an attempt to block out the voice of Loreyneth. The succubus' presence had never left him. Over time he began to discover the dark magic he had been gifted with. In the process of repressing his new magical abilities, a few forest fires may have occurred. Cromwell thought he had everything under control, that is until tragedy struck again. Cromwell eventually came in contact with a band of Nomads. They accepted him and welcomed him into his ranks, despite the trouble surrounding him. He traveled with them for a whole year. But then, his time with them came to a violent end. One day Cromwell had gone into a nearby town to help purchase supplies for the caravan. When Cromwell returned to camp, he found nothing but Raiders. The men were all brutally executed, the woman and children defiled and destroyed. Cromwell could hardly contain his rage any longer. Several towns were lost in his rampage and to this day he is wanted by the Luma as well as several towns and mercenary companies. On the day of his rampage, Cromwell looked to the smoke filled sky and saw crows flying overhead. That was the moment when Cromwell finally settled on a new name. A name that was sure to keep people away. That name was Crow. Crow now lives the life of an adventurer on the run, desperately hoping to find a way to control Loreyneth and his Infernal magic.
  7. Looking for someone creative and open minded who would be up for helping make Loot, Enemies, and Lore for an entire homebrew DnD campaign. we will design cities and everything from the ground up, If need be we can have more then one person but I'd prefer who ever helps me make the world to not Meta game if the do end up in the campaign with me as the DM. This will probably take ~ month to complete. I want an in depth world where players can choose any way of clearing a dungeon or solving a problem.
  8. This is an RP born from my desire to resurrect an old Dungeons and Dragons character of mine. This RP will probably start out as a two or three person rp but I would like to add more people as it goes one. I am looking specifically for someone to play the character of Loreyneth Additional characters are welcome. Please PM or reply if you are interested.
  9. Please, take a seat. Those chains? Ah, don't worry about those. Would you like some tea, coffee maybe? We've got a kettle full of children's tears ready to go. Hell's Kitchen is home to the highest crime rates of The Beyond. By day it may seem like your ordinary state housing slum but by nightfall it comes to life with red light. Dealers, deviants and dirty cops crawl along the streets but it is the locals who own them; the barkeeps, the tattooists and the motel owners. The heads of Hell's Kitchen are linked by an underground crime syndicate coined 'THE SIX' that works collectively to cover up heinous crimes and commit more. Underdog drug lords and uprising wannabes are crushed under the boot of this ring, otherwise are forced to pay hefty dosages of cash to The Six if they are a beneficial asset. The system has always been quite simple here. There are predators and prey, preachers and the people. But the recent implementation of the BPD (Beyond Police Department) Guardians has upset the balance of power and unleashed anarchy in Hell's Kitchen. It's said that one member of The Six is being bribed to sell highly illegal information to the BPD. To top that off, the Guardians are rumored to be taking illegal performance enhancement drugs and drinking potions that physically alter their appearance so they will blend in with the locals. While this fresh wave of business has been good for Hell's Kitchen it means that the Guardians can easily infiltrate and shut down the drug operations, illegal surges and prostitution rings that are the lifeline of the district. The Six is falling apart, the Guardians are being corrupted. The city is going to W A R. 10. Hello! Ok, so I've got a small problem. I've got a high fantasy world I'm building and Im eager to use as RP ground. It's gonna have lots of races to pick from, some of them humanoid, some of them more animal like (minotaurs, Kobolds, wolf people, cat people, a few talking non-bipeds, etc, etc,), and some of them somewhere inbetween (centaurs, satyrs, shape shifters, etc.) I'll even let players make their own with reasonable limitations. But there is one race in particular that I'm struggling with: Elves. (And Dwarves by some extension) Why do I need Elves at all? Well for one thing thing, my list of humanoid races is a little lacking. All I've got so far are Humans and Gnomes, and the latter are more for comic relief than anything. Sticking Dwarves in would make sense, but it just doesn't seem right to leave them without their pointy eared counterparts. Secondly, I'd really, really really, like to have a race of semi magical, tree hugging humanoids. I've already given thought to how I would incorporate wood-elves into this world and I'm liking where it's going. The issue is that there is a strong contender for that name. A race of extra dimensional, how shall I put it, devils that have their roots in ancient Celtic lore. The old Celtic Faeries (also called Elves) were powerful beings from a land between earth and hell who were distinctly human in appearance and we're NOT benign in the least. For the most part, they were unable to enter this world, but at certain times of the year and in certain locations, they could cross over to play tricks on any unlucky enough to meet them or to steal them away to their land to become one of them. In a story called Tam of The Lin, its said that the Elves owed a tithe to Hell every year and would give a recent captive in leu of one of their own. In my world, their are many different species of Faerie, that is, imortal creatures that live in this other world. But the human looking ones (the "Elves", should I call them that) are the chiefest, most powerful, and most evil, and will serve as a very prominent secondary antagonist for the game, albeit one they will not encounter often as they can't enter the mortal world willy-nilly. (And should they leave their home plain and get stuck, they start to lose their powers and become human). But still I can't figure out where to place the name ELF. The tree people with pointy ears, or the evil extra-planer aliens. Do you guys know an alternate name I could pin to one of them?
  11. background: Eons ago, there was only one God, Greius, the spirit of creation. They were the one who created the universe itself and upheld the balance of it, until one day, a cataclysmic event caused them split into the Gods, Orwha, the spirit of white and Chavoir, the spirit of black. The two gods proceeded to do the same thing that their predecessor had once done. They created three realms to live on with the middle being home to beings that could harness the gods' energy in the form of magic. Years have passed and the two gods have grown distant from each other. The two of them couldn't agree on anything which nearly lead to them trying to overtake the other. There constant clashing distracted them from doing their duty to keep the balance of the universe in check. The three worlds nearly plunged into chaos until a group of wizards came together and rekindled the balance once more. To this day, the wizards made sure that the gods were doing their job as well as making sure the balance is in check. However, all was not too well since a few cults were trying to get one God to overtake the other for the sake of their own goals. Meanwhile, in a land between black and white, the realm of the grey, your just one of the many students that have enrolled in the school of Whitesburg, a school that has two branches of white and black magic. white magic is well known for its use of mental capabilities while black magic is feared for its physical prowess, to the point that only a few students master it in secret. magic system The basis of the role-play is the spell system. At the beginning of the rp, you'll take spells from the two divisions of magic, white and black. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses and ways they interact with the world around them. For example, black magic is more offensive and physical oriented making it ideal for those who want dish out a lot of damage and firepower. White magic, on the other hand, is more defensive and mental using defense and telekinetic spells to give you a high defense boost with a few offensive attacks. Later on, you'll unlock the gray magic skill tree after you find a gray mage mentor on the resistance route. Gray magic is more of a Jack of all trades sort of it. It mixes both defensive and offensive skills with an added bonus of certain spells that aren't found between the two skill tree branches. since magic derives its power from the realms it resides in, a mage is allowed to harness the magical energies from it and channel it to an object of choice. to demonstrate, take Ezaniel as a reference. he channels his black magic into his staff, which he uses as melee weapon. he can utilizes it as a boom stick sort of weapon or some thing that fans out black magic energy through staff combat. but keep in mine that some objects also have additional effects on certain spells. some have been to amplify a mage's magic ten fold while others limit it. Each spell can be learned in a skill tree of their own with their own branches to choose from. 12. So I am a DM since almost a year back, I am still playing with my first group and I love to write my own stuff and make my own changes to get my rp world right. What I need is a bit of feedback and I can't really post it in my usual rp sites because my players can see it. Anything is useful, and I am not easy to insult so don't hold back anything you see is wrong with what I write. Anyway since i've written it on google docs it is easier for me to post a link to the text. A bit of background before this though; The city in question is the home city of a player's character, at the time he wanted to play a character from a place in the north at that time I had only managed to create the map of a single land named Avena, it had borders to a few other lands though and one of them was Legaria up north. he invented a name of a city and checked with me. I said that the name was good and explained the core idea of how I wanted Legaria. The idea of Legaria is a very large land that is divided in several kingdoms individually controlled by their respective king or lord. Legaria is similar to skyrim and I often call it the land of legends because it has many strange legends of heroes that defeat giant beasts of all kinds. The kingdoms in Legaria however has a very frail relation with each other and it is not uncommon for them to wage war with each other. One of these kingdoms is the city of Thranduhaim and the home city of the PC Valerian: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nJPAl6TAGLAhjbBPlo0z77XYmSGS9gAyKlx92vWUzVk/edit?usp=sharing Lastly, I also put up a moodboard (the attached photo) to give the feeling of the land Legaria so you can imagine how it is.
  13. Alright so you while technically made an interest check for this, i was still asking a lot of questions on it and I was most likely going to take it down since it is not what I would use for the RP itself, it is more so me putting an idea forth. After receiving positive feedback from the one person who commented, I decided that I should start taking steps to develop the idea and world. Now, enough with my rambling and onto what I actually want to say: So, at least in my opinion, this idea is a very original one, but also hard to pull off successfully. Essentially the United States is ripped from our world in placed into another one. My primary question is what world it should be. Now I don't want to create a completely new world, as that, combined with also creating the impact on both Americans send the Native people, would simply be way too much work. So it would need to be one from some pre-existing fictional universe. I'd want this world to be more primitive then the Modern world so they wouldn't immediately find the United States and create a clusterfuck. The RP would focus on both the impact on the average people from both sides, as well as political climate that would arise from this. This is not an "America, Fuck yeah!" Scenario, and no one would immediately declare war. Things may escalate to war, but there would be implications for both sides. So....what worlds do you think this would work in?

  15. So, I have a map created of an island with 6 different regions on it, each made up of 4-6 smaller region. Each of the 6 large regions are colour-coded (Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, Orange and Green) to indicate who owns what territory. My idea is assign each region to a person who would be willing to do this, give them x amount of resources, GDP etc etc. Then I'd leave the 6 people to their own devices, there could be war which may involve annexing land, there could be trade deals and so on. My two questions are: 1. In which forum would I post this to see if people are willing? 2. From just hearing about the idea, do you think it's something that would interest people, and if not, then what could I add/remove/change? Thank you all very much!
  16. So, I wanted to spitball some thoughts on a futuristic biopunk world. Firstly because I'm wanting to create my own RP for once and could do with some back-and-forth, and ... secondly to pad my post count, because I'm still 90 posts away from being able to create a Hosted Project ^_^; I fucking love the wonderful, quirky genre of biopunk - and yet, it's something which barely gets a thought on most forums, which I just can't understand at all. Granted, it seems to be a very niche thing, but there are elements of it all over the place, typically in the form of various mutants and mutations - but nobody seems to focus on these elements. For clarity - by biopunk, I mean a world where huge strides are being made in the field of biology to the point where human beings are being "augmented" with auxiliary biological organisms to enhance their lives. I'm talking biological immortality by replacing aging organs. I'm talking custom-engineered organisms grafted to the muscular system to greatly increase physical strength. I'm talking runway models rocking tailor-made cosmetic implants to make them look super-fabulous. Hell, even creating a whole creature from the ground up with biological Lego blocks, using stem cells and DNA editing to create clones with a big biological 3D printer. Everything from mandatory bio-engineering of soldiers to creating living fleshlights designed solely as masturbation aids. (Because tailor-made, living organisms built exclusively for sexual pleasure is a perfect example of the most ludicrous, unsettling and specific applications of this kind of technology.) Inequality is a big one - what kind of divides do you come across when the wealthier half of the populace can radically change their physical form? Racial inequality is bad enough in our own world - but what about when you are forced to question whether or not something is the same species as you? What do you do when faced with something so alien and heavily augmented that you have trouble believing it's a human? What happens to our definition of "human" with these technologies available? What about jobs? Can an employer reasonably discriminate for or against people with augmentation? Is it really discrimination if an augmented person holds a clear, objective advantage in a particular job compared to an unaugmented jobseeker? Religion and humanist philosophy too - what beliefs could embrace this level of change, and what beliefs would shun and abhor it? How would our beliefs shift around our available technology - and how would our technology shift around our beliefs? For instance, our model of the brain has evolved with our available technology - philosophers have likened it to books in the past, and computers in this age. What do you do when your available technology IS the same material as your brain? Is that ... comforting? Terrifying? Unsettling? What about animal rights? Do we have an obligation to protect any creatures created with this kind of technology? What if we create them specifically to be "dumb"? Is it immoral to create "disposable? creatures (such as, for war) if we do all we can to remove their capacity for suffering? What if we try to make them intelligent? Are there limits on how much intelligence we can give these chimera? Military was mentioned above - what kind of military technologies would we see in a future where we can play with DNA like it's lego? How practical are half-dinosaur tanks in modern combat? What about airdropping crates of tiny fucking velociraptors on the enemy? Ludicrous as it is - it would be possible, and it would be terrifying. What if serving your country meant giving up your "purity" or your humanity? What takes priority here? What happens when a man augmented for killing returns home after service, settling back into civilian life? Are they re-augmented to "regain" their humanity, or are they left in the body of a killing machine? Is there no going back once you commit? Sporting events - what level of augmentation is acceptable? Is it embraced for its entertainment purposes, or shunned for ruining the spirit of sport? Medical and pharmaceuticals is a huge one. If the surgical industry controls access to augments, how available can they make augmentation? How available do they WANT to make it? Price is a massive factor here - can the working class man afford some form of augmentation? Does the surgical industry WANT to make it available to the working class man? Everyday life - how does it change? What if some people have augmented vision - are they sensitive to bright lights? Sensitive to loud noises? Do they have a right to be shielded from these things? How much should the general populace respect their differing needs? Do they have atypical bodily structures? Do they need certain forms of seating to accommodate them? adfarRG there's all kinds of stuff I could be asking here. It's such a niche genre that there's very little to use as reference for comparison. Spitball at me, gents and gentettes.
  17. Looking for a long term partner who doesn't mind me easing into a roleplay. It's been a bit of time since I engaged in text roleplay, but I do have years of experience for reference. Hopefully my rust stains aren't noticeable. About Me I am a teacher so I have consistent hours and often have breaks that are weeks (or more) long. Most of the time I can promise to either give long detailed posts or at least notification of writer's block or lack of time (like during finals.) Multiple characters/subplots aren't overly hard for me to maintain, if needed. I have very few (if any) limits, but I do prefer to operate in PMs. My preference includes fantasy/medieval themes, but I could be talked into modern with the correct partner and plot. About You I expect the following in a partner: Consistency Multiple paragraphs per post is a requirement. There really isn't much of a reason to have one liners over and over again. 1x1 roleplay is essentially a co-write. If I wished to write a story alone, I'd do so. Communication Let me know if there are issues with writer's block or time availability (see below.) Even if you are becoming bored with the roleplay, we can throw a wrench into it and make it interesting again. I'm always open to workshopping a scene or world. Attention to detail Grammar falls under this category. Please make sure to try to pay attention to your grammar and thought processes. The paragraph run-on is unappealing when every post has one. I understand the occasional slip (trust me, I'll do many over time) but I will proofread my own things in hopes that you will as well. Time allocation/management (activity) I understand that roleplay is secondary (as all hobbies are) to life. I have my own life, family, obligations, and responsibilities, but I desire a partner who can spare time to be active or at least is willing to communicate when they are unable to be active or are no longer interested in continuing with me. Rereading this I worry that I come off rigid, but I feel it is easier to put all my expectations out there in hopes of finding quality over quantity. If you got through all of this, reply to this post with your favorite color and then your response. Thank you, Rav

So, I have had an idea of an original role play for a while now. For the past year or two, I've been involved in creating fan fiction ones, based off of preexisting worlds, like Naruto, Bleach, or One Punch Man. To be fair, the world concept was borrowed. The characters, geography, the world and history was all original, but I digress. This idea I have is called Eco|Knight currently and everything is just in a pre-alpha state. The content resides in the Word document, because I like the format and the way I can creatively create that header. I'd like to hear criticism about it, inquiry, and thoughts on it overall. As of now, nothing is planned to happen until I and my friends finish up the role play we're currently leading: One Punch Man. Once that is done, then I'll look into doing this, but I stll work on it on the side and thought I'd make use of this place now. Do note that some names, like the elites, are just place holders currently. My idea, if it isn't obvious from the document, is possibly following the elites or non-elites through a long, arduous travel to accomplish an unthinkable goal. Their enemy is the world and themselves. Long from home and having to survive on their own. Eco Knight.docx

  22. Early ideas Hello RPN. I have begun mentally constructing an idea for a role-play on a fantasy world. This roleplay would be based around an empirical, colonial age civilization that is globalizing and working through the middle of their own industrial revolution. Steam and coal power are taking off, electricity has been discovered, but not much has been done with it, and a recent discovery of a strange, other worldly electrical technology has developed a new breed of soldier, the technomancer. This world would likely have maximum of three races, it would be very class stratified and full of old monarchies, new money oligarchies, and the masses being exploited across the landscape. Think of the middle 1700's and early 1800's. An age where the world was getting bigger every day, exciting new discoveries are the talk everywhere in the civilized world. New, mysterious landscapes are being discovered, along with new peoples and new cultures. Trade is booming and the ancient ways of governing are starting to fall apart. A new, civilized breed of people is emerging under an age of enlightening ideas and social progression. Revolutions are happening all across the world, people are fighting for their rights under charismatic new leadership, while old regimes attempt to solidify their power and stick to the old ways of living. Also consider Europe just before WWI, international relations were a web of subterfuge and secret alliances, every international conflict threatened to teeter the balance of power and drag most of the world into armed conflict. How I want players to contribute I want players to be able to fill out the world, sure, I will be creating the map and the initial kingdoms, but the world is a big place, many small and large duchies, republics, democracies, city-states, and nations dot the landscape. The players will be able to create ideas for submission to me, then we will work together to make it fit the world and then become part of the canon lore. I am still in decision as to whether this will be a macro or micro scale rp. That is, will the players be world leaders, making decisions for their nations, or will we do separate chapters of narratives about small groups in certain parts of the world? Input is appreciated, tell me what you like if you're interested. Narrative and combat exp based leveling? The GM (me) would keep track of well written and true-to-character roleplaying experiences, as well as successful dice actions or combat scenarios and tally up the experience of each character on a separate note document. When a character reaches an unknown amount of EXP, they will be allowed to choose from three (or more) perks that the GM creates personally for that character. This could be an additional skill, a chance to reroll a dice of a certain skill, new equipment proficiency, etc. A narrative dice system? So balance is key in any roleplay. I like roleplays without dice, don't get me wrong, but I also recognize the balance dice can bring, as well as the ability to force players (and characters) out of their comfort zone. I don't want to create a whole cumbersome system for deciding dice rolling, however. My idea is a GM controlled subjective dice system. For instance, you may want to perform some action in the roleplay. Based on your character's description, experience, latent abilities, and the abilities of the person you're trying to perform the action on, the GM will decide what the requirement for success will be, as well as any bonuses your character would receive to performing an action. For example: Big tough warrior goon wants to sneak by veteran patrolman I. Because veteran patrolman I is a veteran, the difficulty of the roll is a 13/20 or higher. Because the person sneaking is a big tough warrior goon, he suffers a -3 to his sneak roll. The GM will control NPC actions, unless otherwise stated. I would also give certain NPC's rolls. If npc mercenary I is attacking a player made thief, I would consider the npc's skill level, and the dodge chance of the player character, then make the difficulty of the roll and associated bonuses/penalties from there. This is basically the GM using their knowledge of the universe and the characters involved to determine how likely the success chance would be, then the dice add an element of balance and randomness to actions. This is not mean to be overbearing, or to favor certain players over others, it's just meant to make sure nobody always succeeds in what they set out to do. Micro ideas (tbc) The players are part of a revolutionary group in one of the more unstable, but traditionally powerful countries. They have recently received the backing of certain affluent nobles that will fund their cause, on the condition that they do not remove that noble or their aristocrat friends from power once they take over. The group is still a small revolutionary cell, but their boldness and success in the recent past has made them well known and well feared across the nation. The group struggles with the idea of overthrowing a government, only to allow many of the people that were in power, perpetuating the system in the first place, to continue to operate unhindered. Is it okay to associate with an evil for a prevailing good? The cell will likely have a small group of charismatic leaders who are also expert spies/military leaders. The leaders will be largely group minded in decision making, but there will be one or two very influential people who are also the face of the revolution. The players are an elite group of field agents for one nation that are performing reconnaissance in another kingdom/republic. they frequently send encoded reports back to their home nation via carrier pigeon. They receive orders from local agents using changing dead drops. The group gets new tasks from the government every so often that include, recon, sabotage, assassination (legendary difficulty), and even participating in estate auctions. The group acts as a jack-of-all trades agency to perform whatever sneaky deed their government needs doing. Lore If this rp gains interest, I plan on doing full lore on every nation, including history, culture, geography, and economy, as well as what people from other countries would know, or think about each nation. Nation ideas (tbc) Merchant republic A merchant controlled nation that arises from the ashes of a dictatorship. Essentially the wealthy people of this nation weren't kept happy by the dictator, so they funded the poor to overthrow him, then took power for themselves. They rule like to board of directors for a company, except one qualified noble per year is selected by lottery to be the 'ceo' of the nation, the face of the company and final decision maker if you will. Because the country's power is so determined by wealth, even the CEO would be limited to decision approved by other powerful nobles, influence is everything in this nation. The middle class would consists of foremen, burghers, management, and highly skilled craftsmen. Because this system is slightly meritocratic, women have the chance to be as powerful as men, though the idea is still new and it isn't a social norm for women to have property or to be independent from men. the majority of people would be poor laborers or simple craftspeople. Though this wouldn't be an overly large part of the population, it would still be the majority, as education is mostly reserved for those with money, and the economic system is established to benefit the rich and keep the poor in poverty. 23. Aetherial Realms

Aetherial Realms is a long term world building project I have embarked upon. To help flesh out this ever growing and expanding world I have chosen to create RP's in Aetherius. This has allowed me to explore the rich cultures, histories and places in this beautiful world. Through this endeavor I have also had the great pleasure of meeting people, having collaboration and the unique joy of role playing with them in this world. Currently I have decided that I intend to keep RPing in this world for the time being, hopefully long term in order to allow this world to take more of a final shape. This is by no means for a book or such but rather a hobby of mine that I wish to share with others through adventures, intrigue and companionship. If a world of fantasy with relatively realist magic, factions, nations and a renaissance-medieval tech era interests you then I would recommend checking us out! I apologize in advance though for the helter skelter layout currently as, like with most people, I am adjusting to the new format of the upgraded site but also the unfortunate loss of bbcode, which had been highly integrated. Bear with us, have fun, meet great people and enjoy the stories we all craft together!
  24. I'm working on the beginnings of an alternative history WW1 setting nation builder and want some help with my own personal faction- the Confederate States of America. I'm looking for input on how, realistically, the politics, the economics and the military of the South would change after the Civil War in this setting. So in this universe, the Civil War ended in a draw in it's later years, neither side really gaining or losing a significant amount of land. Feel free to cherry pick what you want to reply to. I'm wondering a few things: How would you guys think the American-Spanish War would play out, with a mainly Confederate force participating, and only a little Union support being given? What would happen to the Confederacy's intentions of colonizing the jungles of Brazil? (after the war was lost lots of Confederate civilians, slave owners, and soldiers went to Brazil and Mexico. Confederados, they were called) How do you believe Mexican-Confederate relations would be? Is it feasible for the Confederacy to buy/forcibly take control of the Panama Canal? How do you propose that is done? What would the CSA and the USA look like as they expanded westwards? How would slavery (though a terrible, and barbaric practice) continue to remain feasible for the Confederacy in an increasingly modern world? How would freedmen (who served in the Confederate Army) be treated, and made, in essence, separate, but actually equal? How do you believe the Underground Railroad should be taken care of? How would Confederate/Native American relations be? Something noteworthy is that a Cherokee Indian served and greatly aided the Confederacy during the Civil War, along with other tribes, due to the Union advocating a pro-settler stance. Who would be the next Confederate President after Jefferson Davis? Would it be feasible for a totalitarian regime to be set up? How would the South recover from the Civil War, industrialize, and in general, just become economically and militarily on-par with the North? What I Would Also Love What sort of elite units, weapons, air force, navy, and army would you suggest the Confederacy has? How should I handle historical figures in real life that may not become famous due to the Confederacy surviving the war? Have any cool Confederate photos you think I could use? Post them here! Know any cool Civil War stories? Tell them!
