  1. Type: Fandom; Warrior Cats Activity Level: Semi-Casual (one post a day to one post every three days) Roleplay Experience: Knowledge of Warriors; Able to make fairly detailed one paragraph responses (most of the time); Able to control multiple Characters; Ability to make multiple characters. Desire Level: High Introduction I feel like I am constantly doing this, but I will not give up until I find the perfect partner. I am looking for a player (you might be someone I already know) that adores Warriors, but is always left with either a group that is too large and ends up ending because there isn’t enough people or one x ones that never go anywhere. We might have already met seeing as I feel like the resident warrior cats’ person and if that is the case then I probably would have an easier time roleplaying with you. I do ask for someone that at least starts off with writing at least a paragraph response and enjoys details as much as I do. I also need someone that loves controlling multiple characters since we will be making whole clans by ourselves. Activity wise, I would like a response a day, but I am also in college and will soon start work so that might not be ideal. I would say that at least every other day would be cool or even every three days (if we get real busy). You see, I had the partner when I was younger and we would roleplay warriors. We had four Original clans and we managed to fill up multiple books, but I had to move and with it my dreams. I want someone like that again that will allow us to build character relations, have intense story moments, and progression like I have never seen before. THE ROLEPLAY We can either do it with the originals by the lake or create our own Three (MAX) clans. I usually prefer making my own since it is weird being in the canon universe with new characters and not recalling the old ones, but I am also flexible and I see the benefit of starting in a world we know. We would have individual stories in each clan. We would create at least one Main character in each clan and have a different path set up for them whether it be forbidden romance, betrayal, ambition, or whatever. We will also have multiple NPCs that can become main characters for example: if we did a romance one and your cat really liked an NPC character I played then I could make it a main character. Everything is very flexible. The Main Plot I want to start in a peaceful world. I want one of the clans to be our main starting ground in which we start with kits becoming apprentices with all the hope in their paws. As we progress, I want us to develop a plot that effects all the clans, but mainly we will have plots dealing with only one clan. Please only serious inquires. I will wait if I need to for this. This is my greatest desire and I am willing to try anything to reach this moment. I do have group roleplays as well. One is a hosted project (which is going a tad slow), one is a group roleplay (both are warriors), and I have a one on one I am participating in that isn’t warriors. I also have a wolf group roleplay I am in and a unique fantasy roleplay that is still building. I am fairly filled in terms of roleplays, yet I always seem to be stuck with no muse or nothing moving. Please respond below! I am excited to hear from y'all.
  2. @import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Cinzel'); h1{ font-family: 'Cinzel', serif; font-size: 48px; color:darkgreen } character creation info before you jump right in, here's a few rules to follow when making a character. no face claims. but, I will accept public domain pictures. if you want people to have a basic idea of what your character is like, please pm me or any other artist. if you want to make multiple characters, have a max of 2 or 3. go a bit in depth when talking about your character's backstory and personality. you can only have one element. there's about 6 elements to choose from bearers of fire are the avatars of Tiagus, a passionate fire that burns with compassion. these wielders will usually use heavy melee weapons to dish earth and fire based attacks. bearers of water are the avatars of Violus, a calm wave that can be unpredictable when provoked. welders of this element have the power to commune with fish and breathe under water. they can also wield more long range weapons that can harness the power of the waves. Bearers of wind are quick on their feet. They share they're sense of adventure as the avatars of Su'long, the gushing winds of the east. The bearer has the powers to traverse the winds, become one with the clouds, and for some, create deadly thunder storms to smite their enemies. A bearer of wind's weapons of choice are fans and staffs, ideal weapons for mastering the wind. Bearers of wood are at one with the forest and its creatures. With the tenderness of being the avatars of sylvana, they can be gentle as they are strict. Like mothers and fathers, they can be caring and harsh. As protectors, they'll lash out their vines and defend those who are weak. The weapons they most likely choose is long range or whip like weapons. Bearers of spirit are an elusive group. They share their vagueness with rosana, whom over sees everything that is life and death. Unlike the other bearers, bearers of spirit not only commune with animals, they can speak to ghost from past lives, the souls of the living, and sense the spirit world before them. The energy they use is harnessed from the ethereal, the home to all sorts of beings. However, the fullest of their power can not be reached due to the collar they wear. The weapons they're best at is mid range and defensive weapons.
  3. Personally, for me, it's 2D characters. It's the worst because you can identify them SO easily, or at least I can. It's especially annoying when one person has more than one character, and they all practically are the same because they have the same personality structures and behaviors.
  4. In this RP you will be able to create your very own character(s). The setting is during the Senior year, after the Wild Hunt situation, of Scott McCall and his pack. You are a student, that is new or has attended Beacon Hills before, and you are Supernatural, or a Hunter. You will embark on a journey with Scott and his pack, or your very own group/pack. The choice is yours.
  5. @Milus @animegirl20 @Megilagor @TokumeiNoJorogumo @Slothtastic @TheBlackSwordsman @Buckteeth @Payphone. @Carolbrock @Masyet @Solaire_ @OzirisXP (Oh, that's me.) For everyone who posted, and those who didn't, this is the place for character sheets ONLY. If there are any ideas I'd like to keep them on the original forum. The OOC and IC chats are going to be made after we get all characters ready and made, and we finish with polishing the edges. Every character should be a separate post. I'd like if there was one character per person, and as for NPCs I'm not sure. The CS used in the original forum is perfectly fine, and it's the one we'll be using.
  6. In many roleplays, you'll often find the rule "no Mary Sues/Gary Stus" or "no self inserts". Even when it isn't explicitly stated, it's generally implied that such characters are not welcome. But why is this? Where does this hatred of the "perfect" or "flawless" character come from? What makes a character based upon oneself so bad? What is the criteria for a good character? The answer to these questions may not be as cut and dry as you may think. Let us start out by defining the term "Mary Sue". A Mary Sue is a character designed to be idealized or flawless. Characters created who fit this description, or who very nearly fit this description, are ridiculed for being poorly conceived or lazily written. They are seen as being dull at best and aggravating at worst. There are similar concepts that are equally disliked, including: Gary Stu - A term occasionally used in place of "Mary Sue" to refer to a male character with idealized characteristics Special Snowflake - A term used to refer to a character who exhibits characteristics designed to make them stand out as the most interesting or unique. Self Insert - A term referring to a character who is designed to be similar to the player, often becoming a more idealized version of that player. By examining all of these concepts, I hope to shed some light onto where the hatred of Mary Sues comes from, and why they might not be as bad as you think. Mary Sues are quite prevalent among inexperienced roleplayers, especially younger ones. There is a sense, as we grow older or more experienced, that we know the "correct" way to do things, whereas those who are less experienced do not. We impose rules which did not exist before, about what makes a character good or interesting. Yet in truth, that is our own biased perception of how things should be. Roleplaying includes many diverse styles and everyone has their own motivation for why they roleplay. We would be well advised not to become "the fun police" and insist that every person follow our guidelines. While in our own roleplays, it's normal to set the standard at what you would enjoy doing, I find it hypocritical that we are so quick to berate players whose standards are different. The most common argument against Mary Sues is that they are not realistic or believable. Their presence ruins immersion and is just generally unpleasant. At least, for some of us it is. If someone wants to roleplay Lady Annabeth de Raventhorne the vampire princess who is smart, strong and beloved by all... Well, why can't they? What right have we, as players, to insist that they adhere to our own arbitrary guidelines. Many of us are able to suspend our disbelief enough to accept the existence of faeries and dragons and werewolves, so why can we not accept that some are able to suspend their disbelief to accept the existence of flawless characters. Just like faeries and dragons and werewolves aren't everyone's cup of tea, neither are Mary Sues. So why are we able to accept that some people like the former, but are not able to accept that people enjoy using Mary Sues? I think a great deal of the dislike for Mary Sues comes from a resentment towards arrogance, and a protectiveness of one's own character. A Mary Sue, by their very nature, is a character who demands the spotlight. They are the best because the creator says they are the best. They are liked because the creator says they are liked. This fosters a sense of undeserved arrogance on the part of both the player and the character. We are frustrated because nothing was done to earn this attention or admiration, it is simply demanded. Additionally, it creates a skewed perspective of what is "normal", resulting in our own attempts at an interesting and multifaceted character to seem significantly more flawed than they actually are. Similarly, special snowflake characters demand pity on the basis of a tragic backstory or because of some facet of their character that causes them trouble. This also feels unearned, and whether the player intends to do this or not, they come off as demanding accolades for doing something which we find more reprehensible than admirable. With that said, the place where we draw the line between "Mary Sue" and "good character" is different for each of us. There is very good reason to not want to roleplay with players who use Mary Sues, since if we dislike something we can't very easily force ourselves to think differently. Yet despite that, these preferences are personal and not founded in objective fact. There is no real reason why a Mary Sue cannot be considered a good character. It is simply by our own standards, or from the standards we inherit from others, that we feel a need to distance ourselves from them. For some of us, Mary Sues are annoying and we don't want them in our roleplays. For others, Mary Sues are fun and interesting, so they're worth including in roleplays. Neither side is right, and both sides have justifiable reasons for why they think the way that they do. Another thing I think is important to bring up is "Gary Stus" and how the evolution of this term indicates a main source of contempt for Mary Sues. The term "Mary Sue" is undeniably older and more prevalent than the male counterpart. And yet, idealized characters of both genders have existed for the same amount of time. This is particularly interesting given the fact that it is more often female characters who are used as examples of idealized characters. Is the female version more common or somehow more heinous? I don't think so. There are plenty of examples of male characters who are "the strongest" or "the smartest", and I've encountered both Mary Sues and Gary Stus with about equal frequency on this site. So what is the difference? There is, unfortunately, a degradation of things that are popular with teenage girls. Just look at the things that the internet likes to deem as undeniably bad. Twilight and YA romance? Popular with teen girls. Justin Bieber and Rebecca Black? Popular with teen girls. Pop music and boy bands? Popular with teen girls. Selfies and Shopping? Popular with teen girls. The list of things I've seen declared bad ("because they just suck" or because they've arbitrarily been declared as being not as good as something else) goes on and on, and a lot of it is most popular with teenage girls. That isn't to say that we hate Mary Sues because we're sexist. On the contrary, I think that once we learn to hate the concept, we apply it fairly equally to male characters as well. But there is a reason that "Mary Sue" was coined long before the term "Gary Stu". A lot of what is popular with teen girls gets degraded as "shallow" or just "bad", and I think it's telling that something so popular with teen girls (namely, creating idealized female characters) gets a worse reputation than elitism (something which is more associated with older players). It is important to be aware that while we may dislike the concept of a Mary Sue, there is nothing about it which is inherently wrong. In fact, it is somewhat liberating to be free to create a character however one chooses without being declared a "bad roleplayer" because you don't meet up to someone's personal standard. That is why we should not declare Mary Sues to be the epitome of poor characterization. For some, it is no less adequate characterization than any other type of character, and I think there should be a respect for players who prefer to enjoy roleplaying as more of an escapist fantasy than any sort of serious literary endeavor. This brings me to my final point about self insert characters. I have found, at least in the particular circles that I run in, that self inserts are seen as the worst type of character, followed closely by Mary Sues, then by characters belonging to an existing fandom, and finally by multifaceted original characters, who are placed at the top of the pile as the prime example of good characterization. Really though, this all is dependent of personal preference. To some, no type of character is inherently more worthy of being included in a roleplay than any other type of character. Yet the fact that there is a prioritization of what kinds of characters are best (in some circles) leads me to feel that I should come to the defense of the self insert as well. I do understand why self insert characters are looked down upon. Oftentimes, they are idealized, which leads to similar feelings that Mary Sues elicit. Even more so since idealized self inserts can come across as the player being full of themselves. Additionally, self insert characters are seen as being lazy, or as indications that the player lacks the ability to differentiate between themselves and their character. When it is the case that a player has trouble differentiating between themselves and their character, there is often drama which arises from the player taking attacks on the character personally. Yet this is not a problem with the self insert character, but rather with the player themselves. Plus, if we are all being honest, the reason that we create original characters in the way that we do is because on some level we identify with the traits we give our characters. Perhaps you give your character a similar hobby or a similar moral code to your own. Perhaps they exhibit traits of your own personality, or perhaps they share some physical similarity. Or perhaps your characters exhibit traits from people whom you admire, or traits which you find interesting. You create the characters that you do because they are relatable or interesting to you. Likewise, people create self inserts and other forms of idealized characters because they are relatable or interesting to them. It is unfair to make a sweeping declaration that the creation of idealized characters is wrong, because in the end, it's an opinion and not a fact. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts and opinions on the subject. Did this change your view on Mary Sues, or is it the same as before? Do any of your characters share traits similar to your own, or which are idealized in some way? Let me know in the comments Sakamoto - The Best Mary Sue

The plague of Deadmen has no cure, and where they cannot be used to operate mills or dig coal, they are piled upon a barge with a bound Sidhe and cast out into the open ocean. Carried by the sorcerous currents of the awakened ocean to the Abyssian Sea, where the Thirteen haunt the waves and old colonies putrefy in isolation. What you might remember of home is a murky tangle of propaganda about her heyday, and the twisting decrepit alleys of her present. Albion is ruled by Queen Gloriana, spoken of in whispers and seen in the flesh by barely anyone. Always a nation of sharp divides and a great colonial power, Albion is split into the nobility and commoners, with an underclass of immigrants from their colonies. Highborn: You were raised in the upper crust of Albion society, well-educated and provided all comfort and opportunity available. Propriety and manners were your paramount concerns beyond your personal ambitions, whether you joined the Royal Navy or served the Crown domestically. +1 Academics, Subterfuge, one other Skill. Lowborn: You were a commoner, back home. Living in the cramped streets of the sprawling capital or in a small town, you worked your fingers to the bone - unless you were lucky enough to run your own shop. You’re used to showing deference to the highborn and took a certain amount of pride in knowing your appointed place. +1 to any three Skills except Occultism. Pauper: Whether you were born unlucky on Albion’s shores or came seeking fortune from your subjugated homeland, you ended up living in downtrodden squalor on the streets of Viroconium. Begging or crime were your only options and really, your death should have come as no surprise. In a way, it’s more of a blessing than a curse… +1 Stealth, Awareness, one other Skill Gaules The revolution was meant to free the people. The Aurum Church gave the aristocracy leave to do as they pleased, allowing them to buy absolution, justifying their position as the gods’ plan. Nobles often became priests, and the Pontiff was the King’s own brother when things were at their worst, and the whole incestuous mess weighed on the people most cruelly. And so the people rose up, winning a bloody and brutal revolution followed by an gruesome run of executions by sorcery. In those days, it was a nascent discipline, long suppressed by the church, and in truth it was more by blade and shot that the day was won. The bloodshed didn’t end there; not every citizen was a revolutionary, and when the executions reached a peak the softer-hearted of the people turned against the worst of the ringleaders. When it was all over, Gaule sought redefine itself as a land of equality and brotherhood, learning and compassion. They set up great academies to study sorcery, restructured their government, and reduced the powers of the church to some vestigial. Who can say if it was the weakness of mortals or the creeping influence of the curse that reduced them to their sorry state now? The academies became corrupt. The families of sorcerers received unwritten privileges, the law ruled in their favour, and entry into the academy was virtually impossible for those without wealth or connections. The sorcerers reigned with increasing cruelty and depravity, conducted vile arcane experiments on desperate poor, twisted their bodies and souls with strange magics. The nation is as much a tyranny now as it was in the past. Silver Blood - You were born into a sorcerous bloodline, and even if you did not enter the academies or show real talent, you were afforded luxury, time, and perhaps a high station in government. +1 Academics, Occultism, one other Skill. Academy Ward - You were taken in by an academy from a life of poverty, and promised instruction in sorcery due to great talent. Perhaps you even received it, but most wards found themselves taught a few simple spells and trained as secret police. +1 Stealth, Melee, Occultism Dullblood - You grew up outside the academy system; an ordinary person who was either moderately wealthy or just scraping by above poverty. There’s good odds you were in the navy, military, or watch, or very likely a merchant or craftsman. You may have been one of the luckier colonial immigrants. +1 to any three Skills except Occultism Pauper: Whether born to ill fortune or denied the promise of a better life after coming from the colonies, you only ever had your life and now you don’t even have that. Beggar or thief, whatever you were, maybe this is a chance to be something else. +1 Stealth, Awareness, one other Skill Carto Also known as the Brothers Ibrian for the peninsula they share, Carto and Hispalis were once friendly rivals. Carto, the smaller and older, gone from disparate fiefs to a true kingdom hundreds of years ago, was the first to cross the Abyssian Reach and bring back treasures from the new world. Despite their size, they were wealthy, and mighty such that only Albion could be expected to defeat them were it ever to come to war. As competition grew fierce, of course, they and Albion found another way in the privateers who would become pirates - though Carto's holding were nigh untouchable, on the dark continent, and they merely coveted the coasts and islands claimed by Albion. Initially, they hired from their neighbours in Hispalis, promising protection if Albion ever dared to war against them. But Hispalis saw an opportunity to seize their own colonial holdings or take them from Albion, and so they did. Carto were assured their own ships and colonies were never under threat, and yet cargo ships full of gold would vanish from time to time without evidence of Albion's involvement. For years, political tensions were high and peaked around the time of the Rebel Fleets insurgency - and with the destruction of the fleet, it seemed that Albion and the Brothers could negotiate a peace. They did, and it endured as the Curse took hold over generations. Carto was ever a nation known for music, poetry, and piety in addition to their adventuresome spirit, and over the years that the Curse fell these things were perverted. They accused Hispalis of heresy over the merest things, treated foreigners with suspicion, and watched thousands of their young people flee to the colonies as they suspected war was to come. Perhaps they brought the curse with them. They argued over the true doctrine of the Aurum Church and cut ties with their ally Albion over perceived heresies. Famous Cartone troubadours produced music that drove the listener to suicidal despair; those who became Deadmen fused with their instruments and the Deep imbued their songs with terrible power. Eventually, Hispalis sought to conquer Carto with claims of birthrights and destinies, and the backing of their inquisition. Those still with their wits about them would joke Hispalis had simply run out of their own to purge. The two have been embroiled in war ever since; great lines of Deadmen at the borders rising and falling and rising again, until the Deep overtakes them and they turn their attentions to the still-lucid... Noble Exile: A member of the Cartone Court, you fled to the colonies when the war broke out. You didn't make it. +1 Melee, Leadership, and 1 other Skill. Colonist: An ordinary colonist, perhaps fortunate and making a grand new life in a new world, or reduced to serving staff at a noble's estate, the Curse killed you by starvation or violence and now, you cannot die. +1 to Sailing, Craft, 1 other Skill. Citizen: Many fled Carto. You had family, or a business, or simply no money, and were forced to endure the horrors of the war. Whether you fought as a conscript or struggled to keep the army supplied, when you died they threw your corpse into the sea. +1 to any three Skills except Occultism Hispalis Hispalis, the Younger Brother, had a larger share of land split into feuding kingdoms which were united a generation after Carto, being more like a federation than a true kingdom. The mortar which held them together was the Aurum Church, faith uniting them and making them strong. Years of infighting now had to be turned outward, and Hispalis gained a reputation for belligerence and passion that seemed at odds with their devotion. Or so the Albion elite would say, and they disapprove of anything as vulgar as a smile. Hispalis built a reasonable empire for themselves and as the Rebellion loomed on the horizon tensions with their neighbours were high. But the rebels were shattered, and no one anticipated what would follow. As Hispalis succumbed to the Curse, they prayed for deliverance and laid the blame at the fault of witches and other undesirables. An Inquisition was founded was to root out evil, and at first, it worked, in its own way. Deadmen early in their decline were banished to a fortress-monastery on the coast and their families monitored. But the Curse crept into the hearts of the Inquisitors, and they became colder and crueler. Their tests more brutal, their mercy rarer. Deadmen were cast into pits of flame kept ever-burning, and their screams used to tear confessions from their families. Eventually they turned on Carto, for the blasphemers of Albion were out of reach now that the sea had become a living thing of malevolent intent and crossing was all but impossible. It was a stalemate. Both employed miracles of Aurum to keep their troops standing or smite their foes, but Hispalis' was reduced to a small army of elite warriors where Carto still had numbers on their side. They say the border is still home to bloated, monstrous Hispalian knights templar fighting eternally with rotting swarms of dead Cartone conscripts. Noble: Born to one of Hispalis' noble families, you were groomed to take over a county in the fullness of time. Perhaps you were even lord of your estate, before the Curse. Perhaps you tried to flee to the colonies when the Curse visibly took hold; perhaps your were executed again and again for treason and blasphemy. +1 Academics, Subterfuge, one other Skill. Citizen: An honest man or woman, working for their living and serving their nation, until the Curse robbed you of all that. +1 to any three Skills except Occultism Prisoner: Whether noble or commoner, you were tried and found wanting a long time ago, and confined to the asylum where the early Deadmen were kept. Memories out of the outside world fade, and you have been trapped in a terrible purgatory... until the sea devoured the prison. +1 to any three Skills. Unterland Unterland enjoyed a number of colonial holdings, but their real triumph was beating back the sea. Using the wealth of their colonies to support a drive for innovation and expansion, the ambitious people of Unterland built, great sea-walls, dykes and steam-powered pumps. They reclaimed huge swathes of valuable farmland from salt-marsh and sea, expanding their country dramatically. Between the sale of salt, their excellent engineering, and increasingly efficient colonial mines and farmland, Unterland was thriving before the curse came. And it hit them most abruptly of all. At first, it was subtle and hard to catch; more men drowned in a year than usual, excessive rust, leaks and ruptures without explanation. The rise of Deadmen lead to sabotage, and then the sea rose up in anger and wiped all but the capital lands off the map. Now, a once-prosperous and peaceful nation is a paranoid and isolated wreck. The Underlanders fear outsiders and have built walls and moats to keep them out. They filled the moats with Deadmen or banished them to the lowest lands, where the sea had returned verdant farms to toxic marsh. Scattered enclaves of survivors litter the landscape, and many have fled to the colonies in the hopes the curse had not spread so far. Homelander: Having survived the cataclysm that ruined your country, you lived in fear of outsiders and infiltrators. The risen dead that plagued the capital provinces and strange creatures that crept behind the walls. Whatever legitimate professional you were before, the curse forced you to turn the Unterlander predilection for science towards the occult. +1 Academics, Occultism, Investigation Survivor: You survived the worst of the collapse in an emergency bunker. Most people never believed the dams could break, but the little water-tight safehouses were built anyway at maintenance stations and places of civil import. You spent a long, dark while submerged, and then had to learn to live with the sea when help never came, to survive in the marshes or climbing through the roof of your sunken fastness to scavenge in a crude boat. +1 Awareness, Academics, Sailing Exile: Whoever you were in Unterland, you left that life behind to become a farmer, or whatever else the colonies needed. You didn’t make it. +1 to any three Skills The Sublime State (Devlet-i Âliyye) Long regarded as a Sick Man among the empires of the world, The Sublime State was only a hollow husk of its former glory days. Riddled with religious and political turmoil, The Padishah was caged in his own Palace as overly-ambitious military officers governed the state with promises of 'democracy' and 'equality,' despite ruling the state wih an iron fist. Of course this did not sit well with the Ulema, the religious scholars who consider the proper rule of a Padishah to be divinely mandated. They organized a coup to take control of the State and reinstate the Padishah as the true ruler of the Sublime State, Caliph of the Faithful. Faith and fervour were repelled by the training and gunfire of the parliamentarians, and as the fighting neared a calamitous end, it's said the moon turned red and those dead in the streets rose again. The Ulema said Îblis and his minions had appeared from the depths of Jahannam to torment the faithful and wicked alike, wearing the bodies of the dead until they could assume their true and terrible forms. A truce was agreed - together the parliamentarians and traditionalists would fend back the legions of darkness, and when it seemed victory was attained the Ulema backstabbed the parliamentarians with the support of the now terrified populace. The Ulema declared the state's suffering to be the product of heretics and outsiders, whether a divine punishment or an evil welcomed by wicked men, a direct result of involving themselves in the colonial conflicts of foreigners. Thus the Reformists were exiled, and the Dhimmi, the adherents of the Church of Aurum or other foreign faiths who had previously enjoyed protection, were enslaved - some even executed. Alas, this did nothing to stem the growing tide of Deadmen, and it is said some among the Ulema have turned to darker fields of study in an effort to combat the threat, perhaps even harness it. Pashazade: You were born a noble to one of the Governors of the Sublime State, safe from the clutches of the Ulema and the Court far from the Imperial Capital. Living a happy and decadent life, ignorant of the poor souls that dwelt in the very streets of the city and given a comfortable job in the administration of the colony. Yet as the Ulema preach, 'every mortal shall taste the dirt in the end' and it seems like your decadent life-style has followed you into afterlife - after all you have been denied the right to enter Jannah or Jahannam, left to forever wander the world to pay for the sins you committed during your wicked lifetime. Or so the Ulema would tell you. +1 Melee, Subterfuge OR Persuasion, +1 Investigation OR Sailing Dhimmi: An unfortunate soul born to the wrong family at the wrong time wrong time. Perhaps you were one of the children given to the State to pay the blood-tax - perhaps thus one of the famed Janissaries. Or your family was wealthy enough to pay the Jizya up until the betrayal of the Ulema, and so enslaved, made a servant in distant imperial holdings. Perhaps in defiance of your masters you joined a pirate crew, or died a heretic. You live again now, or something like it. Pick the Skills from any other national background. Revolutionary: One of the many citizens of the Sublime State who took the losing side during the schism between the Padishah and the Parliment. Perhaps you believed in the democratic ideals imported from the West, or were simply a nationalist who believed that the southern territories should be free from the shackles of the imperial capital. Whatever the case, you were almost certainly military, and after the Ulema's betrayal assigned to the Pasha of some far-flung and demon-haunted imperial holding. +1 Melee, Subterfuge, +1 other Skill Attributes Pick one Attribute to be 4 Pick two Attributes to be 3 Pick one Attribute to remain at 1. 13. So recently I have noticed that a lot of my original characters seem to have the same personality type. Even when I set out to make different personalities I tend to always play them the same basic way. So I thought I'd make a thread to see if anyone else has this problem or has any practical advice for how to fix it. My specific questions are : 1. How do you keep your characters personalities from blending together? 2. How do you create pick personalities for your characters? To clarify this is a feedback / advice thread focused on a specific issue this means that I am not looking for opinions on the proper way to create a character or to debate what kind of personalities are better than others. So I don't want to see any arguments in the thread or off topic tangents. If you wish to discuss pet peeves or your own characters there are plenty of threads for that. This one is strictly for advice/feedback. That being the case all feedback is welcome as long as it's constructive. And remember guys let's try to keep things civil.
  14. If you've been approved for a Master role, you should post in the Character Sheet subforum with the following form filled out: Name: Full name, and any aliases they may or may not use. Appearance: Include a link to an appropriate faceclaim/picture for your character here. This RP is distinctively anime themed, so avoid western art and real life photos. Gender: Pretty simple. Are you male, or female? Age: Again, self explanatory. Characters should be at least 13 years old, but younger characters are somewhat discouraged. Alignment: One of the 9 alignments you may be familiar with in RPG systems of old. Chaotic Good, Lawful Evil, etc. Magecraft: Your personal style of magecraft. You can be very creative with this, as every magus family has their own unique way of using magecraft. Magic Lineage: If the magus dynasty you descend from differs from your family name, state so here. Also, state if they're a noble family, a common family, or an unknown family. Magus Generation: How far down the line of your magus lineage you are. Typically later generations tend to have more powerful magecraft at their disposal. Stats: List them as follows: STR: X - AGI: X - END: X - MGI: X - LUK: X Replace any X with an actual stat, see the corresponding information topic for more details. Personality: Give a quick blurb about your character's typical personality. Biography: Tell us about your character's past before winding up in the Holy Grail War. Wish: The entire reason your character was chosen by the grail was because your character has a wish to make upon the Holy Grail, regardless of if they're aware of it or not. List that wish here. This wish is not set in stone, circumstances faced in the RP may cause you to change this. A command seal will be assigned to you once you and your servant have been paired up. If you've been approved for a Servant role, please PM the GMs with the following information: True name: The identity of your servant. This must be a well known historical figure from the past. Preferred Class: The class you wish to manifest as. Please see the corresponding information topic to learn more about these classes, as well as the Current Openings topic to see if your preferred slot is available. Alignment: One of the 9 alignments you may be familiar with in RPG systems of old. Chaotic Good, Lawful Evil, etc. This should correspond with your interpretation of the historic figure in question. Personality: Give a quick blurb about your character's typical personality. Once again, this should correspond with your interpretation of the historic figure you've chosen. Appearance(Optional): Include a link to an appropriate faceclaim/picture for your character here. This RP is distinctively anime themed, so avoid western art and real life photos. If you cannot provide one, the GMs will provide one on your behalf. Suggestions(Optional): While the final say in your stats, personal skills, and Noble Phantasms are ultimately up to the GMs, you may list suggestions for those things here, which will be taken into consideration.
  15. Character Creation Manual The following information must be on your character sheet. You are welcome to format the sheet with font colors and styles, but all this information must be present and easily accessed. It is not necessary to get particularly long-winded with the character sheet, so long as your character shows some level of thought and potential for growth and development. Name: At the moment, based on the information for the setting, most characters will likely have Russian-derived names. Surnames may be optional, depending on the character's lineage and social class. Age: This story is not restricted to teenagers. Do not hesitate to play a grown-ass adult in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s. It takes all kinds to make an adventure. Gender: Pretty self-explanatory. It's not terribly important as romance isn't a focus of this story, but it's good to know what pronouns to use. Classical D&D alignment: Chaotic or Lawful versus Evil or Good. This isn't actually relevant to the plot, it's just a shorthand way of identifying some basic tendencies of the character. Also it's fun. Appearance. You must have a written description of your character's appearance. It must include basic information such as hair and eye color, height, and body type. You may also wish to go into some detail about their clothing, birthmarks, modifications, deformities, etc. A picture may be included on two conditions - you must have the written description, and the picture must be an illustration (not a photograph with a filter). Motivation: A few sentences on your character's motivations and aspirations in life. A character with no goal is a prop, not a character. Personality: A description of your character's personality. Skills: A list of practical skills that your character may have, such as carpentry or spellsinging or farming. It would behoove you to also include a tiny description how your character fares in each skill. Equipment: A list of tools that your character may have on their person, or resources that they have with them. History: A couple of paragraphs on your character's backstory. If they have a boring backstory, that's fine. Don't hurt yourself trying to write three paragraphs when one will do. Theme: A link to your character's theme song. Since music is a critical part of the setting, it's important to keep in mind some sort of musical motif for your character.

So he doesn't realize how much of a danger he can be... it's why Claire usually tells him to stay in the basement but she lets him out at night to take care of the yardwork. She doesn't really enforce it so if he ever REALLY wanted to leave and do what he wants as long as he came back home she would be fine with it... as long as he had a chaperone. Appearance: (When he has a glamour the teeth and ears shrink but they still seem rather large for a human) Name: Alvin Age: 22 Creature: Ghost Personality: Easygoing, Does whatever he wants, Doesn't even listen to Clare History: He died in the house by accidentally falling down the stairs a few years before she owned the place. He's a very old soul. But still young and has aged pretty well with the times. Appearance: Edited May 19 by
  19. I was pondering this question recently as I was perusing the role play's around and reading their character sheets; Character Creation. Everyone has their own process of creating characters and how they go through the process of thinking one up. While I know this is a hard question to ask, because in ways it is vague. Creating a character is very dependent on the RP you're in and what the person who created it is looking for in the characters. So for this, let's focus more on your process of how you approach a more normal character sheets. Do you try coming up with ones who are more interesting? Is a mysterious and large backstory always a prime focus? What is your focus and/or process for creating new characters?
  20. There are tales of a group of men, traveling across the west bringin' change to wherever they pass. Good, bad, or somewhere in between, these folks appear like a mist, and disappear just as quickly. They are known as...... Ghost Riders. Hello! This is the CC page for the wild west RP Ghost Riders. For those who already created a character, simply put your character sheet in here and add a bit more info. For the rest of you, the character sheet is below Name: Appearence(either a picture or a description): Age: Race: Hight: Gender: Sexuality: Union, Confederate, or Other?: Weapons: Likes: Dislikes: Personality: Bio: Other: Example; Name: Conrad Norrison Appearence(either a picture or a description): Age: 42 Race: Caucasian Hight: 6'2 Gender: Male Sexuality: Straight Union, Confederate, or Other?: Union Weapons: Two Colt Dragoon Revolvers Likes: Law, Order, Seeing criminals hang, the Union, President Ulysess, his family, his job, revenge Dislikes: Confederates, working with confederates, pardoning criminals, Abbadon Randall Flagg Personality: A very gruff and dark man on the exterior, Conrad is actually a kind and rather caring man, once you get to know him Bio: Before the Civil War, Conrad had actually been a school teacher in Virginia. He was instrumental in helping North Virginia become it's own state, seperate from their treasonous parent state. He ended up joining the U.S. Cavalry, becoming a lieutenant before the end. After the war, he moved himself and his family out west, and would become a U.S. Marshell. One time, whilst returning home from flushing out a group of local bandits, he discovered that his house had been burned down, with his wife and three children brutally murdered by a psycopath known as Abbadon Randall Flagg. He swore on that day to kill the man, no matter the cost. Other: Suffers from depression.
  21. Add what sections you want. Also our characters will evolve over the course of the RP and will have chances to gain/develop new techniques. I recommend Land of Iron so you can move to all the hot zones and they're kind of the main protagonists, the Land has no bearing on abilities by the way it's just where they're from and who they fight for. In regard to ranks Kyu are lower ranks, dan are higher, then is kenin, then daimyo, and then finally shogun. Most shogun will be npcs I recommend starting somewhere in the Dan level and as the rp goes on you'll promote eventually to Daimyo. Dan are basically like chunin, with kenin being jonin level, and daimyo being jonin around hokage level. All samurai attend samurai school before graduating and being appointed under a higher ranking samurai but pretty much the one that matters the most is your daimyo equivalent to a Jonin of course the unit seizes are a larger with basics units numbering to about 20 strong. Typically most particular training is up to the samurai themselves or if they have an instructor them. Though sometimes one of your superiors could take you as their student. In Samurai academy, all samurai are taught Iaido, kenjutsu, how to fuse, channel chakra, send chakra waves, and how to augment their bodies with chakra. Appearance(Image please): Name: Age: Gender Rank(1st - 10th Kyu, 1st - 10th Dan, Kenin, Daimyo): Land: Personality(optional): Backstory: Abilities: Weapon(s): Other/Extra:

  23. I've included a few questions you might have for me below. The character sheet you'll need is further down in the second post. Do I have to be human, or can I play a xenos? Xenos? No. Again, that would spoil the heart of the roleplay, which is to focus on Hive World residents. But abhumans like squats, ratlings, and ogryns are acceptable. You've labeled this an "open world" roleplay, what exactly do you mean that? It means Necromunda: Hive City will act as a shared setting for our characters to adventure through, rather than forcefully grouping players together in order to herd them towards a predetermined climax. There won't be a player cap – Hive Primus has more than enough room for everyone. There won't be a cut off point when players will no longer be accepted — new adventure always awaits. And whenever you're ready to cut out or take a break, just announce it to the active players and be on your merry way — your character will be waiting for you when you're ready to return. This level of player freedom means you'll be responsible to imagine and write the bulk of your character's conflicts and developments. How you want to handle that responsibility is up to you, but needless to say it will require independent storytellers. So our characters won't be interacting with one another? They might, it depends if we want them to. This will typically happen through an OOC idea pitch. Example: I'd like my assassin to pick up some black market weaponry from a seller based out of The Underhive — any takers? If other players bite then you'll pick one and collaborate on a scene featuring your characters. If no one bites then you can write the scene yourself and then pitch another collaborative scene in the future. Either way you're never stuck. But what if I want my character to be part of the same team/gang/house as another player? Assuming the other player is willing to attach their character so closely with yours, go for it. Parties are welcome, they just aren't required or enforced.
  24. (This is my first RP on this site so I'm not too sure how everything works) Name: Claudia Bluethorn Age: 4 Gender: Female Species: Forest elf Appearance: (sorry for crappy photo) Personality: Claudia is a short-tempered, slightly hot-headed young girl. If she has any emotion other than 'angry', 'frustrated', or 'annoyed', she keeps it hidden. If she doesn't want to do something, she'll do whatever she can to not do it. Examples are 'getting along with others' and, of course, 'school'. Despite her family's best efforts, up until now she has refused to learn to read or write. Despite her anti-social behaviour, she doesn't like being completely alone, and almost enjoys it when she gets on the nerves of adults and other children. Likes: Musical instruments, hot cocoa, being outside Dislikes: Schoolwork, wearing bright colours, doing boring things Fears: Getting laughed at, large groups of people, being completely alone Favorites: (not really sure what you mean) Powers/abilities: She can will plants into growing instantly (or, she will be able to) Talents: She can sing quite well for a 4-year-old... when she wants to, of course Relationships: Mother (Katherine Bluethorn), unnamed father, three unnamed older siblings Other: (my internet's been going on and off lately, I might not be able to reply immediately) Gogoga! *laughs*
