I've run into a form elitism myself. I don't really understand having to expand simple IC conversation moments into deep character analysis of a character's "Yay" or "Nay" (for instance), all for the sake of post-length.
I don't want to waste my effort on that. It's not fun when people get...
Lol. I'm just old fashioned. I miss the bygone days when art forms had objective standards to meet, so that not just anyone can paint the color Yellow, name it "Yellow Scream" and call it art.
Maybe it's my Capitalism showing but Id say some competition is healthy. It breeds improvement.
So its a subjective standard. What about an objective standard?
How do we measure writing skill on this site? Is it the person with the most cookies and hearts that is most advanced? Or is it the person with the most published works? Is it the person with the greatest average post length? Is it the person with the best ability to pack more value into...
Im glad someone tied in the bads and goods of disney movie thinking. My wife and I are fed up with Disney's Star Wars movies because they have no "meat and potatoes". The older movies had the characters develop naturally, and didn't try to conjure romance out of thin air. I mean, as awkward...
In the cases you're both describing,
It sounds like the other persons didn't want to do any work. But that wouldn't make much sense because if you're into this sort of roleplaying, there's always some work to be done. Maybe they were only willing to do a certain amount of work and any more...
I'd never roleplayed as a kid before I did so here on this site. I found it surprisingly fun. It was a nice break from the cynical serious and edgy characters i usually played. Having my kid character navigate the perils of a cursed world broke my heart a little. :(
This doesn't really...
Ive noticed that all my characters are outsiders in some way, being either altered, odd, displaced, out of their native elements, or a little out of the loop. I admit this may be the way I project myself, because I seldom fit in a social niche.
I do enjoy writing outsiders' perspectives...
I hate when people join an RP, but just up and leave for petty reasons, or no reason at all. Ghosting is so uncool. If you want to RP, commit. Fearun wasn't made in a day, or Narnia or Middle Earth, or Azerorh for that matter.
Depends. I want to know the class and abilities. But I don't want spoilers as to what a character is up to. In role-play, I like the story aspects: Character development, exposition, sub plots... hidden subterfuges. I would honestly start getting exited if a player decided his or her sheet...
I don't have a lot of pet peeves to share. I'm just sort of looking for useful advice on things to avoid going forward. This thread had been a good read. I just have a few comments and questions.
How to play a good asshole character: Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.
Thanks for that. That...
