If I'm not wrong, terms of service also say to keep it SFW.
There's nothing about breaking terms of service in that post, be honest to admins when joining, be old enough for site, but personal info is, shockingly, personal.
Giving personal info, and going NSFW with strangers is more unsafe...
Always wanted to run a horror RP, I'd particularly like a metroid style one in space, but no clue how I would pull off the structure for it. Don't know how to do the genre.
Yes, but want to know a secret, every single one of my best posts ever come from those too. Rewriting it til it's good is something I've done a few times.
Also a few times I've had to go 'fuck it, it goes up', and those weren't... pretty. But moved the RP forward, and was necessary
I'm picky as hell, which says more about me than anything. But a few of'em:
1) the entire thing is lowercase. not one sentence is capitalized. often no periods
2) "Hey guys, I wanna run -X- Rp, what do you think I should do?" If you have an int check, I'm assuming you HAVE an idea!
3) Is...
I think I went off on an armor tangent...
But to answer OP question, Armor good, bludgeoning weapons good. It can be realistic to take down a knight with staff, but major, major disadvantage (As opposed to taking one down with a sword, which I would laugh at.)
But isn't story all about the...
Alright, the pain tolerence thing is an urban myth. There's been a few studies, and while pain being subject, and therefore nothing conclusive, none of them show women being more pain resistant.
While I can't disprove the martial arts thing, I can show two areas where it does matter. Grappling...
It'd be a huge disadvantage if we're going realistically. Knights are basically walking tanks back in the day. Very little would get through all that armor, best money could afford. A sword is nearly completely freakin' useless without Mordehau/Halfswording, spears aren't piercing many areas...
Imma be honest. I stalk like crazy for people joining my RP's. Like, anything's off, "huh, wonder if they're any good." -look at post history-
"All one liners? Eh, probably not in line with what I do." (Not that anything's wrong with that, I just run advanced RP's, I couldn't keep up with that...
My advice on writing samples though is, if you do them, be strict on them, light on the CS. People have a threshold of how much work they'll put into something. If both the writing sample and CS are a pain in the ass, you'll get few applicants. If there's a writing sample but CS is easy, people...
I do it all the time.
Its the character sheet. If its bad, I will throw them out. I don't like being a strict DM, but found its so much better to start being mean then loosening up, than having to crack down later on. Don't think you'll be breaking etiquette. I've done writing samples too. I...
Give and take.

Mowing down 50 people... isn't that fun to read. A bloody battle where both are struggling? More fun. TAKE DAMAGE as your character. Honestly the biggest advice I can give that people screw up on. More godlike you try to be, less anyone wants to read it...
Rip the bandaid off.
The longer you drag out a conversation, the more emotionally attached they get to it. Don't look at it as being kind to the person you're kicking, look at the perspective of the other players. It makes it harder for them to post. They might be invested in their character...
I agree with Franklin's first post. Be a hardass GM at first. I'm a chill guy, I hate doing it, but it needs to be done. An RP thrives on 'energy'. If everyone is waiting on that one guy to post, the energy is sapped. Kick them. Then everyone can enjoy the game. Keeping this energy high can come...
I hate being the bad guy, but I find games work so much more smoothly when I end up kicking people for being too slow or not being up to par. Mostly cause it gets everyone on the same page and such.
That said, despite having to do it a ton, I feel bad every single time I have to do it. Mostly...
Ya'll have no idea how many characters from past RP's I get to murder in new RPs. Filicide at its finest!
Mostly I make new chars but occassionally I reuse a concept I wanted to explore more fully. Most of the time though I save them in a bin, and when I inevitably end up GM'ing another game...
What I'd like to add, feel free to disagree.
Cruel GM'ing: I'm generally a nice guy, try to get the RP'ing fun for everyone, but sometimes GM's have to put their foot down, and it freakin' sucks. ESPECIALLY if you're a nice guy who doesn't want conflict do the below.
Posting Expectations...
First thing I do, is go for the 5 senses. Helps you be immersive, add to a scene, AND adds to length.
People go for sight, and sometimes sound, but never really elaborate. Pretty much, ask yourself what the character is going through, what do they care about.
If they are a romantic, they'll...
