  • Well, that's disappointing. Apparently the old RPs are now gone. :<

    How do I do that?

When you use the search button feature click on "features". Then go to the option that says "search threads". Scroll down a little and in the "search in forums" bit, select "archives".

Another thing I do is use Watched Threads to see which threads I've posted in. If you backscroll enough, you'll find where your old posts were. You can use it by clicking on the Forums menu button and clicking on 'Watched threads' out of the list.
Is the Site Archive not search-indexed? Because if not, that's a dick move.

The database is still re-indexing itself, and the search function will be hit-or-miss for several more days while it continues to run in the background - there's just THAT much content.

That's fair. I just wanted to be sure I didn't have to manually click through all 1000+ pages or risk losing my old RP content. Besides the remnants of the old RPDom userbase, that was about a third of the sources of my logins. The other third being, again, the remnants of the old community, and the third third being trying to find active RPs (and usually failing to keep up with them due ot real life issues).

That, and honestly, those memories are part of what's kept me here through all the changes and the inevitable drift that comes with your community being swallowed up by a larger community with a different identity.
Everyone got it. Not sure why you are freaking out.

The content stuff is me just not wanting to lose old to content if someone decided that remove it or ban me at any time in the future, I.e: just as a general precaution. The question was an honest one, given your pointed response to my dislike of the sheer number of chat alerts, I didn't knew e if it was a general measure or a specific one.

So to wrap up: I'm not freaking out, I just don't trust the staff to the degree I once did, and a lot of those provisions could really bite a user in the butt. While I realize that's not their intent, I still feel sufficiently "once burned, twice shy" about past staff interactions to want to avoid taking chances that might cause me to lose hours and hours of effort put into characters and RPs.

I don't say this out of dislike for staff. On the contrary, I like the staff members I'm familiar with, and I don't know the others well enough to have an opinion one way or another. It's just a matter of pure pragmatism. I used to keep copies of all my RPs saved to my computer, but I just fell out of the habit.
Did anyone else get the new site rules pm'd to me, or was I just determined to be unlikely to follow the alert to the place it's hosted?
Stop nagging me with staff posts. If I don't click the first time, the problem was not that you didn't say it enough. Sadly, can't unfollow.

I completely agree....I can barely even get it to load when I did try after the 10th time

Oh, I have no problems with the new chat. I just think 3 to 5 announcements of it and Win X style nag posts are excessive. That, and I'd love to see the people I actually care whether they're on first rather than the staff. If I cared if staff members were on, I'd voluntarily follow them.
So is there a way to make the "_______ Online Now" thing default to users? I could hardly care less which staffers are around 9/10.
