• The Informativity-to-Reliability Rate Paradox: On any given pop-cultural topic, fan sites are more informative than official websites and Wikipediacombined.
      • Corollary: TV Tropes is more informative than all three combined.
Apparently I missed this one (note, all these rules come from TVT and, as you know, we Tropers are terribly narcissistic).
    • Community Split Law: On any forum dedicated to a specific topic, the user base will be split into two parts, those who discuss that topic and those who goof around in the general discussion areas with little to no overlap between the two.
Why do people call their characters OCs? Like, outside of fandom stuff you don't need to call it an OC because it's a given that it'll be an original character.
Hypnotist: I will now hypnotize you!
    Me: Okay.
    Hypnotist: Why isn't it working!
Me: I have an indomitable will... and also I memorized the lyrics to Rick Astley's hit song "Never Gonna Give You Up" and am currently repeating them in my head over and over again.
Hypnotist: Are you rickrolling me in your mind!
Me: Don't tell me you're too blind to see.

Not based on a true story.
Remember, if somebody brags about being a realist... they're not.

This holds true for just about anything, really. The more you feel like you have to brag, the less I believe whatever it is you're bragging about is actually true
Been watching a lot of bad anime videos and have learned that if I wanna become a screenwriter I should move to Japan because they'll air pretty much anything.
Manga/Anime: This guy is in love with his sister.
    Readers: What? That's messed up!
Manga/Anime: Don't worry, she's not related by blood.
    Readers: Oh, okay, that's fine.
Whenever people get mad at a company I always feel bad for the guy running the Social Medis account.
Life has no meaning, that's why we have to make one. Nobody can tell you what your purpose is, that's something you have to come up with yourself.
    Normal title: Short and Snappy
Light Novel Title: This title is very long and explains in precise detail what the plot if this Light Novel is about.
In this 3 hour long video essay I will explain why [thing you like] is actually a metaphor for capitalism. But first, a word from our corporate sponsor that bumps the run time up to five hours.
Just once I'd like to see a harem anime where the main protagonist just flat out rejects all of them instead of acting like he doesn't like any of them at first before fantasizing about having kissing all of them in the immediate next episode and eventually ending up with either the Tsundere or his sweet, kindhearted childhood friend (usually the two are mutually exclusive but overlap has been known to occur).
I have made it my resolution that if I ever get in a car chase I will hook my phone up to the radio and blast suitable chase music on loop.
Harem RPs confuse me because that inherently implies there's a main character (the guy who the harem centers around) when that goes against the very core of role playing: there is no one main character.

    What if it's an NPC?

But who controls the NPC? And if the answer us "everyone" then how do you keep a consistent personality.

Then again, keeping a character consistently bland as bread (which is an insult to bread as bread is delicious) can't be that hard.

I wouldn’t say “nobody is the main character” is a core part of RP, as I wouldn’t say it’s a necessary component for roleplay or good roleplay even. You can absolutely make main character/side character dynamics work in RP, as these dynamics mainly involve what the plot tends to center around. Playing a main character though would come with the responsibility of not being passive and being actively engaged in other people’s stories, because while the overall story would mainly focus on the “main character”, on a more arc-by-arc, moment-by-moment basis the story would focus more on the rest of the cast. There are many potential approaches to this, mainly a story where the main character has to actively deal with something the other characters are going through (mysteries with the MC being a detective, dating sim style RPs where the character is expected to try to earn the romantic affections of other characters…) or stories in which the main character gets involved by nature or out of aligned interests rather than active pursuit of dealing with other’s problems (say, a main character that is a traveling bard and deals with situations they come across because they can’t help themselves from wanting to hear the stories, though admittedly this plot would be hard-pressed for an RP since it would be harder to make the “side characters” not disappear after their specific plot is done).
I wish I could say the names of people and things I dislike with the same disdain that Malfoy says Harry's last name with in the movies.
Proposal: Five Nights in the Facility, where you play as a security guard in a SCP facility during a Security Breach and have to defend yourself from anomalies until the MTFs arrive to clean the mess up.
Just finished Ms. Marvel and, controversial opinion, the Disney+ shows are some of the best the MCU has to offer. Yes, even Loki and Falcon and Winter Soldier.

that's understandable!! for me, wandavision started out really good but it lost me by the end. i liked the message behind tfatws, but it felt very hamfisted at times, along with weird pacing. loki had it's... weird moments, but it had me captivated from the start and it redeemed itself by the end. the only thing i probably didn't like was kang.
