First we begin with the ranged weapon. *Picks up a Smith & Wesson Shield* Most see the ranged weapon as a good way to quickly dispatch an opponent or adversary, I personally have used such on many occasions when combat was a necessity. Now where it is true that one can use these to easily kill, what message does it send? In my opinion, not a very personal one sadly.

But then we come to the Melee weapon. *Places pistol down and puts on a pair of brass knuckles* I have a small collection of such weapons, now depending on your skill with whatever you choose in this case it could be as easy to kill an adversary as breathing is for most. So we view the message it sends, if I were to beat you down with these brass knuckles, you’d think it rather personal to me the reason I would kill you. Correct?

So today’s lesson is this, it takes little to kill someone from a distance with a weapon that all you need to do is pull the trigger, or release the string, or throw it. *Slowly removes brass knuckles* But to kill someone with something that has essentially become an extension of you? A sword, an axe, a pair of knuckles or a gauntlet. That takes willpower, or at the very least, such determination to see their life ended or to see yours live another day.

So where would polearms fit into this?

I feel it would be fitting into the Melee category of this if my knowledge of polearms is correct. It is a weapon that has become an extension of you, even if the distance between you and the adversary is larger than most Melee weapons.

That makes sense.
