Unfortunately some people are just plain nasty and don't realize how to talk to someone. Sorry about your experience, hopefully you won't have to interact with them anymore.

No problem :)

Because over the internet, people don't treat each other as people. Which is part of the reason why if you get affected by people insulting you or are overly sensitive, you should not be on the internet.

Imagine how behind we'd be if we all had that mindset...

Nobody owes you anything. People can be as rude or as nice to you as possible. If you don't like people being rude to you, don't go to places where people WILL be rude to you. How is that setting anything behind?

"It's just how LGBT people are treated there. If they don't want to be treated that way, they shouldn't go there."
"It's just how women are treated there. If they don't want to be treated that way, they shouldn't go there."

Lets say you have a car. You don't want this car to be stolen. If you just park it at your workplace or at home and it gets stolen, its probably not your fault. But if you drive your car to the most ghetto part of town, leave the car in front of a dark alleyway and leave without locking it to get into a shop to quickly buy chips and THEN it gets stolen, then it IS your fucking fault that car got stolen. In an ideal world, we would make sure that all areas of the city were equal in safety where something like that couldn't happen but it just does and that is the reality of the situation.

If you don't like people being rude to you, then either get used to it or don't use the Internet. The internet is KNOWN for having the most insensitive people on it because the veil of anonymity leads to people not treating each other as normal human beings.
Also, I love how you pulled THAT fucking card. Really shows your character. "Oh people are rude to me on the internet" is not the equivalent of minorities/groups getting mistreated. One is a problem that we should solve. One ISN'T a problem and "solving" it would violate freedom, privacy and some ethical boundaries.

The parked car is often used as an example for victim blaming.
And what if someone was calling a person who is a minority racial slurs on the internet? Is that okay too? What's the line that divides it? And should we allow neo-Nazis to rally on the street yelling racial slurs to passing by minorities? Stopping them would also violate those things.

Also there's a reason most sites have rules and moderators who enforce keeping things friendly. They want everyone to feel welcome here. Now I didn't say I felt threatened or wanted the person banned or anything, I was just saying venting about it. But those rules are in place for a reason, and going about believing that "if you don't wanna be talked to rudely then get off the site" is going against that reason.

Doing something on the internet is not comparable to doing it in real life. Going up to a minority and screaming that shit is not even close to being the equivalent of literally ANYTHING on the internet because its not avoidable. The victim has no choice. EVERYTHING on the internet is 100% avoidable unless you are completely clueless. And even if you are, the biggest places on the internet don't even allow harassment like that so that is not even an issue. No matter what you find offensive, you will find a place on the internet where you will be okay with everything.

So should cyberbullying not be an issue then? It's on the internet, not in person. And if what you say is true, shouldn't I not have people being rude to me here? I'm here to RP. It's not like I'm here to berate everyone who RPs. If that was the case then sure your car analogy would be more valid.

I myself don't think cyberbullying is a real issue as you are given every tool possible to stop it. I could only imagine it mattering when its done by people who you know in real life from school or whatever. And even then it is so easily preventable.
Well, if somebody is harassing you then you can very easily just block them. And that is it. That is the rudeness that is bothering you gone just like that. Then you are free to do as you please without people being rude to you. That is it. There is no issue to be discussed.
