I often use question marks to signify inquiring intonation. Like "I'm not even sure..?"
But good observation.

I've been known to use an over abundance of question marks...though that's usually in the instance I've witnessed something so strange/idiotic, I have nothing to respond with but "??????"

Yeah, to be honest I do that, too. It can help soften some aggressive-sounding statements when I don't know how to word things better... But, still. When used in particular contexts (followed by many, many more question marks) it's grating. kevintheradioguy
