People have lives outside of RPing, and those lives often get in the way + a lot of RPN suffers from tendencies, some of which conditions even, that make them have a harder time in social situations, especially when it come to confrontation thus lessening their capacity to tell you upfront if they want to stop the RP.

Those are the two most common alternatives.
