Once, 3 messengers from the Ottoman Empire were sent to communicate with him. They refused to remove their turbans due to religious reasons. Vlad applauded their devotion to God, promising them that their turbans would never come off their head by nailing the turbans to their heads and then executing them.

Also Castlevania on Netflix is pretty dope.

He's also seen as a hero by a lot of Romanians.

Not a hero per say but he is seen as a strict but fair ruler with a sense of justice. Nevertheless he was bloodthirsty.

Bloodthirsty indeed. But still. Start public impaling on criminals, I bet you see the crime rate drop pretty friggin quick.

I feel the need to mention, though I'm not sure if you like anime in any capacity, but in one anime called fate apocryhpha (I may have just butchered the spelling), there is a really interesting exploration of the dynamic, as count Vlad is summoned as a fighter and refuses to use the trumph card that turns him into a vampire, in fact his whole goal is to use the wish-granting device to wipe from his history the bad

I am a sucker for both history and anime so a great anime show with characters derived from the west is just perfect. I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!

Fate stay night unlimited bladeworks is one of it's most well-known titles, and while apocrypha is more

bottom line, in terms of public and critical opinion, I still feel it is worth checking out and pretty entertaining for those into it :)

I'm gonna start watching so should I begin with acporypha or is there an earlier one?

It's a little complicated. Apocrypha is basically an alternate timeline to the other ones. If you're gonna watch more than one, I suggest starting with the original fate/stay night which is kind of bad as an anime but has the most in terms of explaining stuff, then I would watch fate/stay night unlimited blade works, then fate/zero and finally fate/apocrypha. There are more fates, but unlimited blade works and
