Sometimes I wonder if "detailed" RPs are dead

Ever since they got rid of the "detailed" tag it seems like people have gotten really lenient (both GMs and RPers alike). Many RPs that claim to be "detailed" aren't regulated and the posts / CS seem more akin to what used to be tagged as "casual." So if "detailed" is now "casual" then where is "detailed?"

Not that I hate casual RPs but sometimes I want something a little deeper to really challenge myself and sink my teeth into.

that´s true... even I dropped a little in post requirements, since instead of using size requirements I use content requirements. Except in my 1x1s where I use both. Still, I think my RPs are pretty detailed and complex.

Tellius are among the best of the best if I'm being honest, but I could also be romanticizing them seeing as they were the only form of entertainment I had for nearly a year and half when I had my first kid.  I've played both of them more than five times each, so yeah.  Could just be heart shaped glasses.

Good luck getting Path of Radiance.  That's a near $300 game if it's in good condition, and Radiant Dawn isn't cheap but it's much easier to find.   Personally, I recommend you emulate for them.  It doesn't take a powerful PC to run Dolphin the last I checked, but I could be wrong, and by now I'm sure theý've optimized it.  Google Dolphin Wii Emu and just go from there. Though keep in mind it was probably seven years ago when I was first reading about that.  It could be an entirely dead project now.

And Galeforce was borked aye eff.  With the changes to combat in Fates, it's not exactly nerfed, imo.  It's just less relevant on certain characters, and it's now enabled some male characters to take on a map by themselves.   I'm 50/50 on it.  I think it should have been removed for Fates.  I sort of want them to go back to inherent skills per the character rather than per the class.  I think it adds more diversity, and creates a less is more scenario.  Then again I'm a grinder, and I will grind out every single class all the way to full green stats so I'm biased in that I really would like less grinding even if I'm just bitching and I know I'mma do it anyway regardless.

Yeah, I think they are considered the favorite by the majority of the Western fanbase. Of course that only make me more excited to play them since I already think games like FE7 and FE4/5 are top notch! Hell I even loved playing Awakening for all its faults. Even a bad FE game Fates is pretty damn enjoyable, so I can't wait to see what the legendary Tellius has to offer. I've also heard of the ridiculous prices for PoR though!!?? Like lolwut? It's insane. I never actually checked to see if it was emulate-able.........come to think of it, lol. I only have a mac now so emulating can be a bit of an effort. I'll look into Dolphin though......

It was kinda lolzy how abusive the skills could get in Awakening though. But yeah I'm mixed on how a lot of skills (and weapons) turned out in Fates. I like the ideas behind them but maybe not always the execution. Really curious to see what the skills and weapons will look like in Shadows. I'm assuming they're going to use the same wonky Fates weapon buffs because of the infinite uses, but I hope they fix the inability to use some (like Silver weapons kms). I never played Gaiden either but it seems they had a weird magic system which makes me kinda sad because imo magic users were almost unusable in Fates and they were all such bitches to level (I'm a sick masochist who doesn't believe in benching apparently) so I kind of hope to see a mage that isn't a freaking weak ass glass canon who misses 90% of the time. I mean Celica is a mage so she has to be useable, right? Right?? //side rant  I really liked the personal skills in Fates though so either inheriting system they choose I hope they keep it.

I mean Celica is a mage so she has to be useable, right? Right??  - Micaiah is not usable at all in Radiant Dawn.  Do not try, you will not succeed.  I'm sorry, but being a main character doesn't offer us any guarantees unfortunately.  As for benching, I'm not one to do it in most of them, but the Tellius games sort of require it at certain points.  Laguz (beast-humans) have some pretty strong faults, and makes them really hard to enjoy in either game.  They are better in PoR than in RD, but still not great.  There is also another 'species' that ties in with how some of the characters naturally have WAAAAY better growth rates than others, which are called 'Branded', or half-laguz that can't change into beast form.  One of your mages who is in both games is such, and is baller at all times.  Best mage I've ever used in an FE game.

Fates didn't really draw me in like the others did.  I'm not even sure what about it threw me off, but I'd be willing to bet it's having three full games in one bullshit. I've still yet to trudge through my Revelations playthrough (mainly because this is believed to be the canon story, and I've resigned to play this on hardcore classic).  Idk, I just don't have the desire to turn it on.   Awakening was a great story, so I could forgive it even if there were those of us that broke the game beyond reason.

I like limited weapons.  It gave custom weapons, and weapons over-all a better feel when I had to decide on not only how to use them but when to use them.  Though using arms thrift on literally every character was sort of annoying, not that I'd ever use it in a competitive environment, but for story mode it spoiled me.  I thought I'd like having the extra free skill slot, but the stat reduction system just over complicated lower tier weapons and was trash on higher tiers.

I'm not really sure what would make me happy for skills.  I think I just want styled characters that aren't allowed to change classes.  Everyone is all about changing classes, and I'm just like... "Ya'll are nuts... You're saying you -want- to grind for over a 100 hours?"

ROBLOX? Well...now that I have you here, lol....what was the overall schtick with that RP, anyways? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Schtick? Huh, well I guess the point of it was for the RP to be drastically different every time it was played out. Focusing far more on the characters than the plot, because the plot was so basic.
And the cause of them being in the maze changed every time the RP played out, depending on what seemed most interesting to the RPers.

Huh that actually seems pretty cool. xD If you ever decide to reboot again or try a similar idea feel free to tap me. I'm a slut for mystery type RPs when they pop up. B)
Hey... so I don't mean to keep pestering you or anything, but just was wondering how you and Wizard are doing and if you're still sick- haven't heard from either of you in a bit. Take care and hope all's well with you.

I love this game to pieces but it's all so true. I do really enjoy the combat despite like everything, though.

I mostly only watch these things for the series I love anyways because when you truly love something its flaws are hilarious.
    Combat is pretty fun.

My overall opinion of the game is given the absolute hell of the development cycle they probably did the best they could to turn it around and deliver something close to their original vision. There's definitely a ton of flaws but the rest of the product is so endearing that its idiosyncrasies go a long way towards papering over the cracks. Plus it's pretty cool that Square-Enix basically said "yeah we're going to keep working on this game and patch up some of the flaws".

Most of my actual issues with it are from a storytelling perspective so it'll be interesting to see how I feel on that front a year out or however long it takes for them to release all the patches and DLC.
