you have a couple examples there, though it barely scratches the surface. The moe genre is basically described as "cute" or "cute girls doing cute things"

Oh, I see! I've never become interested in any moe animes I guess. I've realized I tend to watch shows with a serious storyline. I dunno.

I steamroll through anime, so I really watch a lot of different things and enjoy things some would be too prideful to gaze at. I recommend you give a watch to Kotoura-san, as this anime will give you an easy transition to being able to watch a generally light hearted show, as it starts off really dark.
