As the Wahlru’s circled about the Cambion, it carefully eyed every last one of them and waited for them to make the first move. Sure enough, one brave soul stepped forward with quick drying cement dispenser, something that once again caused the Cambion to chuckle. Deciding that it wanted to toy with them all before slaughtering every last one of them, it didn’t move and instead continued with its initial plan of sitting still and letting them act first.

Everything occurring afterwards happened in a flash. First the Wahlru with the cement gun had targeted its joints and its feet to keep it stable, then it was to suddenly be bombarded by thousands of bullets, plasma rounds, explosives, and all other manner of volatile projectiles that all cleanly were deflected by its dense and unfathomably strong armor. For a moment it almost thanked Weil for the genius that went into creating this new alloy. As the shot rained down upon it, the Cambion took it all like it was nothing and began struggling against the cement. Cracks began to show, and soon the machine of war broke free from its sediment bonds. A few blows to release its own feet later, it then slowly began to walk through the assault.

The Wahlru that had initially laid him down with cement now stood armed with a heavy plasma turret that was railing against the plating on its chest just like everything else. Soon, it finally came close enough to grab the man by his face and hurl him upwards, only to smash his head straight to the ground with a thud. A pair of punches were thrown that caved in the skull of the Wahlru before the Cambion hoisted up his body and temporarily used it to absorb oncoming fire as it lunged for one of the rocket turrets. Shoving the now dead Wahlru’s head into the cannons mouth, the turret then backed up, jammed, and blew up taking out surrounding targets with the shrapnel and debris.

“My turn.” It growled before the pieces in its armored wrists began moving around. It’s left hand was to be replaced by a plasma cannon, while its left drew a large red solar blade spanning around ten feet.

Mercilessly, the Cambion began flying from target to target, either cutting them down, blowing them sky high with its cannon, or using them as meat shields against the onslaught from the other resistance troops. While it was exceptional tough, it wasn’t impervious. It knew full well that if this went on for too long it would eventually be broken through and taken down. So it had to disable as many heavy duty weapons as possible.

As the Cambions rampage commenced, Ezro hastily switched his Hellfire to its sniper phase and unleashed a trio of shots against the Cambion as it ran about. The first two missed entirely, but the third made contact with the knee of the mechanoloid, causing it to stumble for a moment then continue. Cursing under his breath, Ezro moved through the army of Wahlru’s and got as close as he could before aligning just in front of the Cambion and firing three times again. This time, in quick succession, all three shots hit the same spot at the center of its chest which caused it to stumble backwards and growl.

A dent was beginning to form, but it would be a long time before any serious progress was made in it.

“Continue targeting its joints and chest, try and be consistent with the placement. Wearing down one specific spot is the only way we’re gonna disable it!” Ezro hollered as he unclipped the empty Plasma core before plugging in a new one and opening fire once more. “Ute! Al! How’s that drill coming!?”

Alejandras barreled into the Cambion. "You've killed enough!" He shouted, firing the electrical fryers at Cambion from his knuckles, which unleashed a tremendous amount of power into the electrical systems. He quickly changed his method of attack and began to strike Cambion over and over with his fist and kick him with his legs, while his other arm worked out the rotary cannon, which was jammed into the chest dent of Cambion, unleashing round after round at point blank.

Ute was enraged by the lack of coordinated movement. "Get your blabbering asses into formation you absolute dickweeds!, Get into the Salvo!" There was a stir in the wahlru as they hurriedly changed formation into something that was much more cohesive. They waited for Al to seperate from Cambion before attacking.

When the fighting erupted, Sil began to back away into the crowd. As the Wahlru advanced with their heavy weapons and dense armor, she shrank into their ranks, observing Cambion's reactions from a safe distance. When the machine wasn't moving, she had no way of knowing what it was capable of, but now that it was being fired upon and going on the offensive, she could gauge what was actually working and what wasn't.

Its new intelligence was frightening... and yet oddly comforting. It wasn't just a cold machine. It was human, or human-like, which meant it could be lured into making mistakes.

Mechanically, Cambion appeared to be virtually indestructible. Its enormous solar blade meant close combat was utterly out of the question. Its assortment or ranged weaponry and ability to withstand a barrage of rockets, explosives, bullets, and energy weapons meant stepping out in the open was suicide. Fortunately, a wall of Wahlru --a literal meatshield-- stood between her and the Cambion.

Sil had never been in a melee of this size before, but was beginning to understand just how random things can be on a true battlefield. Ute was barking orders and trying to gain some semblance of order, but Al had charged at the Cambion, and she had lost sight of Ezro somewhere in the mass of resistance fighters. his first few shots staggered the beast and that was the only hint of weakness Sil had seen from Cambion, so she followed his lead. It seemed like aiming for its joints and trying to double- or triple-tap the same spots was the key.

Her XG-55 could be like bringing a sledgehammer to a gunfight at times, but its punching power was second to none. Sil adjusted the gun's controls, ramping up the charge density and velocity. She vaulted over a Walhru's shoulders and onto a rock, getting just enough high ground to have a clear shot at the cambion without totally exposing herself.

"Dammit, Al, move your fat ass," she muttered as she stared through her scope and tried to line up a clear shot.

“Oh ever the fool, tel-Murkuntelli.” Cambion grunted as the electricity barraged though his systems for a moment, followed by Alejandras’ more direct assault which only made the machine laugh. “My bloodlust has just begun, and your people will make fine sacrificial lambs to sate it. Thank you for this opportunity.”

The Cambion then finally struck back, digging it’s fist hard into the kidney of the Wahlru and then raising a hard knee in a press against his sternum. As it was about to grab ahold of Al and subjugate him to a death similar to those of his comrades, only to be railed in the side by a stiff tackle from another assailant who hoped to save the man. Growling, Cambion cast Alejandras aside before pummeling and beating the Wahlru who had dared to get so close to it. After the man skull was an unrecognizable mesh, the mechanoloid looked about only to see that it had lost sight of Al.

“Time to rethink strategies. Going from target to target is taking too long.” As this was spoke, the weapons it now held were transfigured into identical cannons on either side that began dispensing out a cascade of incendiary grandes that traveled as far as fifty feet out in front of it. In a horrifying display, the Cambion‘s projectiles all combusted on impact, tearing apart and burning alive several Wahlru’s at a time and leaving them to cook and melt on the ground.

“No!” Ezro hollered as the cries of the slowly perishing soldiers filled the air. “You rat bastard!” With the Hellfire changed from sniper to shotgun, Ezro charged in all the while unleashing shot after shot into the Cambions chest and joints. As soon as he got close enough, the weapon was strapped to his back as he pulled out his dual blade solar weapon and began assaulting the machine with a flurry of strikes and swipes that only grazed off of the impossibly tough metal. The flames barely singed at him as he avoided their path in attempting to cut into the Cambion.

“Strider you fool...” The Cambion muttered as it drove its fist hard into Ezro’s gut, before following up with a stiff uppercut. As the Pirate was sent cascading to the ground, sputtering and gasping for breath, the Cambion traded out its flame throwers for the massive solar blade once more. “I figured you’d be more wise than to let the attachment of human emotion inhibit you from acting rationally. It seems you’ve gotten soft. Odd behavior, for a murderer. Then again, the criminally insane are always apt to surprise the average person.”

Ezro slowly pulled himself to his hands and knees, teeth grit against one another. This thing talked too much. As much as it wanted to stand stand and tell it that, or make it eat it’s words, the sucker punch to the gut still plagued his abdomen with pain.

Alejandras had several wahlru at his flank, running towards Cambion from behind. In total, five other wahlru insurrectionists had been with him, all of which had heavily modified large, beefy arms, themselves covered in enough plate and shielding to momentarily shrug off any melee attacks. Their combined weight at once for sure must have overwhelmed the cyborg. Four of the wahlru gripped the limbs of Cambion, wrenching them in the wrong way and pinning them down. They moved quickly and coordinated, like clockwork. Al and the other wahlru held the torso of Cambion down. "Ute! Get the drill!" Al's voice was rushed, and slurred.

Ute hurried over, the hyper-plasmoid drill in his grasp. He plunged the machine into the midsection of Cambion from behind. "This, this is for the thousands, millions of wahlru that you have killed. This is for the deaths of all those who've been mutilated by you savages." Ute said as he plunged the drill into Cambion's lower back, the stream of plasma working like a knife through flesh.

The Cambion was taken my surprise in its moment to gloat in front of Ezro. Suddenly wrenched on and pinned downed, the machine writhed against the mechanical arms of the Wahlrus only to feel a heat go through its back as sensors went haywire indicating that several vitals had been exposed and breached. A maddened roar uttered from the Cambion, kicking its strength up and prying itself free from the Wahlru’s holding it down. In a flurry of rage, it sliced apart everything close to him before approaching Ute with blinding speed and prying the weapon from his hands.

“Thousands, Millions, and many more to come should your heathens not learn your place. Perish and begone you insufferable wretch.” The large solar blade was driven straight through Ute’s chest before it was pulled out and flicked to slice the Wahlru down the waist.

This wasn’t good, with his backside exposed any shot could easily do more damage. And that’s exactly what happened. While the Walhru’s still standing by opened fire in their formations, Ezro crept up from behind and unleashed a few shotgun blasts into the gaping hole left behind by the plasma drill.

The inhuman noises that followed sounded akin to that of a raging bull as the Cambion stumbled forward before catching itself on the solar blade. Reeling around and swinging madly, the pair began exchanging strikes with their solar weapons with Ezro being at an obvious disadvantage. The Cambions speed and strength was eventually too much, to the point that one final well timed hit crushed him into the ground after a pathetic attempt to block it. Hoisting up Ezro by his hair, the large crimson blade was driven straight into his stomach not once but twice over.

With a groan, Ezro’s body crumpled to the ground.

Silmaris unleashed shot after shot every time she had an opening. Even when the Wahlru's had Cambion pinned down, she did not stop firing. Even though she did the best she could to avoid hitting them, she didn't care if she did. This abomination had already killed hundreds, perhaps thousands. Nailing one Wahlru in the arm or leg was a small price to pay to end this slaughter.

Her rifle fired thick metal slugs that hit the Cambion's body like hammers striking an anvil. And, just like a hammer on an anvil, it didn't seem to do a damn thing. She wasn't even sure if that savage beast knew she was shooting at it. Her well-aimed shots were lost in the flurry of everything else going on.

When she spotted Ute approaching from behind with the plasma drill, Sil packed up and regrouped to another position. If he succeeded, she would want to be at Cambion's back; this current position wasn't doing a damn thing. So, she slung the rifle over her shoulder and ran, weaving erratically through the press of bodies. the air smelled of charred Wahlru flesh, the ozone scent of energy weapons, the acrid aroma of explosives, and the mettalic tang of gunpowder and spent magazines.

All this for one fucking robot, she thought. Even if we take him down, those fuckers can just build another and another. A thousand more. a Million more.

She often wondered why anyone bothered to fight. These Wahlru. Sauphira's people. The Nimerian resistance. What was the fucking point? Drops in the ocean. That is all you are. For every Cambion you kill, a trillion more are waiting. For every soldier you take down, the line is wrapped around the recruiting office. The iTF is more than people and equipment. It is an idea. And no amount of blood and bullets can kill that.

"But I won't stop trying," she thought as she leapt, clawed up the back of a confused Wahlru and jumped onto the shoulders of another. "Just keep shooting. Don't move," she said to her new mount. He gave her a brief glance before firing up his rotary cannon again. A mermaid on his shoulders was probably the least strange thing to happen today. "Over there," she pointed to Ezro's downed body and indicated that the Wahlru should focus fire on the Cambion to keep him off her captain. "Circle around, I wanna get at his back."

Alejandras had been one of the few to escape. He watched in horror as his comrades fell before him, including Uteleses. His face grew twisted between grief and anger, even more so as his captain was made an example of.

But they got something, didn't they? They got Cambion an Achilles Heel. A weakpoint. Alejandras moved quickly, dragging Ute a fair distance away from Cambion. He held his dying friend in his arms.

"Al, we did it. We got something" Ute's voice was wavering and weak.
"Yup, yeah we did Ute." Al's tone was comforting, but grief could've been heard.
"We got something. That's something that the wahlru can say."
"Yeah, yeah it is Ute, yeah it is."
"I did good didn't I Al? I got the drill, did you see me, Al?"
"Yeah Ute, I saw you, every second of it. You did good."
"That's nice to hear." Ute's voice faded out into a final breath.
"I'll see you in Lazarus, old friend. Save me a seat, will you?"

Was this where Holund had gotten to? He joined the final stand of the wahlru against tyranny, watched his own brothers-in-arms die before him, but he never acknowledged it until now. A bizarre alien had hopped onto his back, it had been nothing to worry about, though. 'It' had told him to focus his machine gun on the Cambion, but with their commander already being injured, dead, or maimed, nothing had to be said.

When the fight started Alice stayed back watching to see what the Cambion would do but nothing happened right away. He didn't even move he just sat there. When he did finally start to fight back and well it wasn't a pretty sight. Alice started following Ezro's lead and started shooting at it repeatedly deciding to aim for the chest. Though it was hard trying to avoid hitting anyone. Seemed like someone was always in her line of shot. "Damnit move!"

When the Cambion grenades were dispensed Alice stop shooting and her eye widen as she watched the Wahlru get burned alive to the point they were melting on the ground. She shook her head and locked her eyes on her target and got ready to fire as she did though she saw Ezro get the wind knocked out of him pretty bad. Alice quickly started making her way towards him but stopped when she saw Ute and watched as he stabbed the hyper-plasmoid drill into the Cambion's back. There was an opening! Alice quickly went to move to a different position so it could get at it's back. But before she could she froze when she saw Ezro get run through with the Cambion's blade twice. "Ezro!" Alice dashed over to him and fell to her knees and looked at him with panic written on her face. She looked around and then quickly got up and dragged him a good distance away. She then sat down catching her breath she had dragged him away as fast as she could plus on top of that he was heavy. That and she was pretty sure she had just gone into a straight panic attack. She leaned over Ezro and looked down at him. "Ezro?"

The shock of getting stabbed twice through the stomach was... not fun. Then again any sensible person would have already guessed that. Suffice it to say it was worse than expected.

There wasn’t pain per say, more just the sheer horror of standing on the front door with death. While any optimistic bastard would think that two cauterized wounds to the abdomen wouldn’t kill a man, Ezro knew different. He’d seen people perish from far less, so why would this be any different?

Although, he wasn’t dead yet. If a stab wound was gonna kill you it would either do so immediately due to placement, a little slower if it was at the throat so that you’d suffocate, and even slower if you were bleeding out. As Alice began to drag him, the unresponsive Ezro could feel his own body a little better. His through was obviously okay, and as for his lungs they too seemed to be working properly, but that could be subject to change later. While Alice continued dragging the downed pirate captain, he felt over the wounds and lifted his hand to see no blood at all save for the dried cells that remained. Maybe he would be okay after all.

Once he was done dragging, he groaned as he was set back to the ground and tried to let his eyes adjust as he looked up at Alice. The world around them was drowned out, with only her voice being able to be focused on.

“Am I in heaven? ‘Cause I’m seeing an angel.”
animegirl20 animegirl20

Alice raised an eyebrow then laughed. “Jeez” She said smiling down at him. “Hey how do you feel?” Alice seemed more relaxed after he spoke but you could still see the worry in her eyes despite her smile.
Siren77 Siren77

“Well..... I’m not dead. So there’s that. As for how I feel,” Ezro made an attempt to set up only to finally feel the searing pain of the wounds through his gut that caused him to wince. “Best way to put it is I feel like I’ve been stabbed or shot twice. Betcha never would’ve guessed that huh? Hehe,”

The Captain finally mustered up his strength and force himself to stand, and once on his own two feet he looked around at the devastation that had occurred. Many Walhru’s laid upon the ground, killed in so many ways all of which were inspired by the Cambions rage. By now more than half of their forces had dwindled, and the fucking thing was still going.

“I knew this was a terrible idea. Now look at what’s happened... Al’s people... they’ve all been decimated by that damn machine.”

Never had a dream this lonely,
Where did everybody go?
Never had a dream this dark,
Wake me up please make it so!
Never had a broken spirit,
I cannot let this one go!
Never had a broken wing,
How do I fly? I do not know!’

An old poem flashed in Ezro’s mind, causing his fists to clench. “At this rate everyone will be gone. Everyone. Including us.”

Alejandras stood up, reluctantly. He took a breath, and spoke with a moment of hesitation. "Enough of our blood has soaked our beaches! Bulls, lay down your arms. Ceasefire!" He sighed heavily. "Ceasrefire..." Alejandras' weapons slicked back into the inner workings of his arms, as the other wahlru did the same.

"What!?" Sil said. "A ceasefire?" That mechanical animal would never allow it. Cambion had already given them a chance to go peacefully and they blew it. And even if the Wahlru did surrender, there was no way the ITF wouldn't retaliate. The Wahlru needed to be made an example of. Win, lose, or draw, this fight wouldn't end today. A moment ago, she was thinking about how futile it would be to defeat Cambion. The ITF would just send another or something even more frightening. Well, the opposite was also true. Once Cambion was done slaughtering the resistance, the surviving Wahlru citizens would not have easy lives. The ITF would tighten its grip on Bhalaja. The chain of suffering never ended..

Sauphira's words echoed in her head, like the light at the end of a dark, dark tunnel. 'No one wins. You want to win? Don't play the game. When your freedom --your life-- is on the line, your only objective is to make the other son of a bitch lose more. They kill your brother? Kill their whole fucking family. They burn your town? Burn their planet. Freedom is expensive and death is the only currency that matters to these people who can buy the stars. You fight and fight and fight until they can't afford to hold you down!'

"Don't you dare drop that fucking autocannon," Sil said to her Wahlru mount. She climbed down and walked through their ranks and opened a line on her communicator: "Al, what the fuck are you doing? That monster is never going to let your people leave here alive." she said. "Take a good look. He's enjoying this slaughter."

As Ezro heard Al’s call for ceasefire, a deep sadness filled his heart knowing full well that this very well would be the only way the last of them would be able to get out of this alive. So many had fallen, and all of them would perish as well if they didn’t take this chance.

The reason Ezro thought this was a legitimate solution was because the Cambion heeded Al’s words as the Wahlru soldiers’ weapons fell silent. It stepped away from its most fresh kill, eyeing the units closely. Then, Simaris’ voice filled the air as she called out against Al’s actions, prompting Ezro to sigh and chime in on the line.

“Stand down, Silmaris. Please. Al’s choice isn’t without reason. Look around! Tell me you don’t see the carnage that has been wrought. Yes this monster is enjoying it, but it’ll only enjoy it further as it claims every last one of our lives in this conflict should we persist and not recognize that we are pitifully losing this fight. There is no outcome of victory here, we’ve already lost. The decision we have to make now is whether we’d like to live another day, or perish in this foolish fight.”

The Cambions chuckling soon came as Ezro spoke his peace, prompting the Pirate to glare at the machine. It hadn’t said anything yet, presumably because it was waiting to see if the group would come to a solid answer. Just to see if it should continue its bloodshed.

"They're not safe!" Sil said, defeated. Despite her tone, there was sadness in her voice. "They never will be. They never were. No one is safe. No one is free." Her shoulders slumped as she stood, alone, with her rifle dangling by its strap, as the Wahlru all around her laid down their weapons. "Was it all a lie, Ezro, the bullshit you fed us about living the pirate life and doing as we pleased? We were never free. We only had what they allowed us to have. We were all cowards. And the one time we finally grow a pair and decide to do something... it's too fucking late."

Those final words came like a whisper or a whimper. The sadness gave way to anger. An unfathomable rage bubbled up within her. She didn't just lay down her arms, she threw the gun down on the Bhalajan stone and then began stripping away every knife and power cell and bit of ammunition she had, shedding it all until all she had left was her jackkife.

"I never should have left your side," she said as she cradled it in her hands, staring at her reflection in its polished blade. She clearly wasn't referring to Ezro anymore. "I should have fought. I should have killed them all, without shame or remorse. Today, it's Bhalaja. Tomorrow...? You were right all along."

Ezro closed his eyes for a moment and just.... breathed. It was all he could do and not make the situation more hard and sad. It all.... fucking sucked. His heart hurt, even more so when Sil accused him of lying to her. Looking over to Alice, Jacen, Kal, and Al, he was suddenly reminded of the small family he had created. A whole mass of individuals united under one ship, to live free and do as they pleased. All of the memories they had forged together, that’s what stopped him from seeking an end to it all. They gave him new life, and that was a truth above any other. Smiling to himself, he stepped through the crowd and put a hand on the Tymarian’s shoulder.

“It was never a lie, Sil. While yes, all we had could’ve easily been taken away should the ITF have considered us a viable threat. What they never allowed us that we took anyway was one another. Our friendships, our unification, that was the one thing that we could keep without those bastards ever having a chance of taking us away from one another. We’ve been through this life of a Pirate together, and in the end we will always have each other. No matter what. I know you hate these bullshit type of speeches, but know that I’m not shitting you or trying to appeal to you or anyone else. I’m done lying to myself and the rest of you. Because the truth is I love you all, more than words can say. And that’s why we need to give up for once. Because this love extends too much to just let you all die in a lost cause, which is why if there is an opportunity to save you all.” His hands clenched. “I’m going to take it.”

Alice looked up at Ezro then back at the fighting going on. Alice always believed in there always being a way no matter how bad it looked, even now. Alice looked over to Al with her eyes widen when she heard what he said. “What!?” Sil seemed to have the same reaction and tried to get the others to fight but Ezro agreed with Al. Alice followed Ezro as he walked towards
Sil. He then gave her one of his speeches. Alice sighed he wasn’t wrong but....She looked around her seeing all the death had happened. Maybe this was the best thing to do.

"I lo-" Sil choked on the word. "I like you too," she said averting her eyes from him. "I mean, I tolerate you... even though you threatened to mount my head on a pike." She took a half-step away when he tried to lay a hand on her shoulder and sheathed her knife. She wasn't going to lay it down, like her other weapons. "Better you than some corpse in a tin can," she muttered as she folded her arms and boldly faced Cambion. "Well, get on with it. You gonna make an arrest or just kill us now and claim we resisted? Not that it matters either way."

Siren77 Siren77 GolemGuy GolemGuy animegirl20 animegirl20

The Cambions laughter soon returned, starting off as a subtle rolling chuckle only to grow into a mad and devious laughter that shook the ground and traveled far enough for all to hear.

“Well, I suppose now that your pathetic forces have given up we can discuss your unconditional surrender. How emotional you all are, especially you Strider. It’s appalling honestly, especially with how demonic you’ve acted throughout your whole life. The many you’ve killed, the lives you ruined. How these people still stand by you I’ll never know, but it doesn’t matter. You’re going to die anyway.”

As the Cambion stood triumphant amongst what remained of the battalion, finally it’s orders from a while ago came to fruition as three carriers were seen hummering in the distance.

“Looks like the Cavalries here to see you all off, and to put you all back where you belong. It’s time for me to take my leave, it was fun, that stunt with drill had be worried for a moment. Alas, all in vain, as is all of your extremist attacks. Farewell.”

Just as the Cambion turned to leave, one of the downed Walhru’s whom had been presumed dead began to stir. Then, he began to crawl toward the plasma drill that was left buried amongst the dust and debris. Scooping it up, the soldier spent his finally moments charging up the weapon before letting the drill bit loose and sending it flying toward the machine. The Cambion, due to its hind sensors already being damaged, could only react after the drill bit burrowed into that same spot of exposed hardware and destroy every bit of integral parts in that area. Static and the sound of frayed electricity filled the air as the Cambion began stumbling about, only to eventually fall to its knees and crash into the ground.

Just as it collapsed, the ITF forced had already surrounded the group and had begun to harvest the surviving Walhrus and loaded them up into the carries to be transported back to their assigned work areas. As for the crew, they were left unattended, for now. But Ezro could see that some of the soldiers were hesitantly handling their cobalt cuffs. Quietly, he moved closer to Alice and pressed a button on his Data Pod.

Some of the brave ITF units dared to approach the downed Cyborg, all of them baffled and concerned that it had been taken down. Suddenly, pieces of the machine began moving around, forming a small opening that only grew more and more.

“What the hell is it doing?” Questioned on of the soldiers.

Then, an AI voice spoke up from within the Mechanoloid, “Combat suit in critical condition, pilot evacuation protocol commencing.”

Ezro’s jaw dropped. The pilot was going to emerge....

Sil's hand itched. She wanted to run up to Cambion and shove her knife between his shoulder blades the moment that damned cockpit opened. If not for the ITF soldiers clustered around him, she probably would have done exactly that. But, with the situation being what it was, she chose to melt back into the crowd instead, moving deeper into the dense cluster of Wahlru. She eventually found Ezro and Alice.

"I hope you have a plan that doesn't involve turning ourselves in to these jackasses," she whispered to him. "Cambion, the monster that leveled entire armies, was brought down by some no-name walrus with a laser drill. If that's not a sign, I don't know what is. I ain't gonna die here. not like this."

Siren77 Siren77 animegirl20 animegirl20 GolemGuy GolemGuy

“Relax Sil, none of us are dying or getting captured by these bastards.” His voice dropped to a low whisper so only her and Alice could hear, “I called in the ship on our location. Rogan should be landing with reinforcements shortly. With any luck, we’ll all be able to stow away to the ship before they can capture us.”

As Ezro continued looking on, the Cambions back was fully agape though he couldn’t see inside it from where he stood. Unbeknownst to him, the pilot inside of the machine was still lying still with the only movement coming from their arms. The soldiers standing around would see that some of the metal was.... liquefying, breaking down as to take up a new form around the plugs attached to the pilots legs and arms. It was obviously taking a while, but they soon understood why. Almost developed cybernetic prosthetics that fit the muscular build of the pilot now hung from where the attachments once sat. At the rate they were building themselves, it wouldn’t be long before the pilot was ready to get out themselves.

Ezro looked away from the troublesome scene and looked to the sky, making out the outline of The Titan as it quietly sailed downwards towards the earth.

“Come on, come on... we need to get off this rock.....”

There was a chorus of triumphant cheering from the wahlru combatants, that now had been loaded into the carriers. Alejandras smiled, and laughed. "We did it, the wahlru did something, we won!" He laughed a bit more before being hauled into a carrier, with some of the more infamous wahlru. "Ezro, I'll see you in a few days. Or years. Dunno." One of the ITF escorts spoke. "Don't think you're getting off on this, tel-Murkuntelli. You're gettin' a pay cut like every other wahlru here, you fat, blubbery bastards." He spat into the carrier, hitting one of the passengers. A major of the grunt hit him on the back. "Come on Seamus, they've already gotten tenderized enough. They're goin' to the metallurgy. Let's get this bird in the air!" She shouted, climbing into the back of the carrier with a shotgun in hand to ward off any aggression from the passengers within. The carrier quickly began to hover, before rising up into the sky.

Terak sat boringly in his fighter. Sure, there was another Wahlru uprising attempt, but there had been many of those. The only major thing about this was the near destruction of Project... what the hell was it, Hades? The ITF is too organized, they love their fucking labels. Everything needs a label. 'Sector 5026-A, Asteroid 83447-D'. Fucking perfectionists, that's what they are. See, the Wahlru, they are something else. These unorganized, yet organized.

How the hell had Terak end up here? A lowly pilot of a single fighter? He was the Admiral of the damned Volmnparu fleet for heaven's sake, or whatever bullshit religion and afterlife the humans and ITF followed. He ordered the destruction of a scouting fleet, not losing a single vessel. But no, did the ITF ever catch his name? No. Did the Nerdies Solar Cluster defend their honor against the ITF? No. This world is fucked, Terak concluded.

Hopefully, hopefully something would happen. Now that, that would be nice. And... something did happen. A ship, a pirate ship. This could get interesting, something new from the constant patrols and scouting. Yes, yes, this could be good. He couldn't just approach blindly, that would certainly get him killed. How could he get on the ship...? His ship, the Romulus edged close to the Pirate ship, the on board weapons remaining motionless.

Alice looked over at Sil and nodded in agreement. "Same I rather not captured."

“Relax Sil, none of us are dying or getting captured by these bastards. I called in the ship on our location. Rogan should be landing with reinforcements shortly. With any luck, we’ll all be able to stow away to the ship before they can capture us.”

Alice scanned the area wondering where Al and Jason was. That was when she suddenly heard Al yell out towards Ezro.

"Ezro, I'll see you in a few days. Or years. Dunno."

Alice watched him as he got hauled off into the carrier. "Shit...."

“Hey what the hell- Get your damn hands off of him!” Ezro began running forward to intercept his Engineer being hauled away, only to stop dead in his tracks.

The Cambions pilot had now emerged, standing amidst the rubble of its disabled suit. With Project Hades finished, they were now free to roam. They being a tall, white haired humanoid that would look strikingly similar to Ezro were it not for a large scar going over his left eye and another on his right cheek. They had light blue eyes, and fair white skin as well that bode no covering save for a pair of black spandex shorts that reached to the top of his knees.

Ezro fell to his knees, stunned at the sight of his long dead brother, with wide eyes that begged for peace. A wave of confusion, joy, sadness, and anger washed over him as he tried to muster any sort of words to say.

“Haec....... why.....? How?”

Haec pulled the same grin Ezro usually had plastered on his face, only this time his electric blue eyes shone a look of malicious intent and hatred.

“Hello Ezro, it’s been a while hasn’t it? Though I have to say I’m surprised! With your lack of regret and comeuppance, I figured you would’ve forgotten all about your dear bother long ago!”

Ezro grit his teeth as he stood to face Haec

“Regret? For what? I don’t understand!”

Haec chuckled, “Or maybe you’ve simply been living in denial, painting yourself as a hero instead of a man who lost his mind and murdered the one person who cared for him. The one person who looked after you for years on end after being orphaned!” Haec’s face hardened, “And now your lies have turned into a galaxy wide escaped to slow the progress of the ITF and act as an agent of chaos in disrupting order in the system!”

Ezro growled, “Now wait just a fuckin-....” It suddenly hit the Captain as to why his brother would be claiming such things to be true. Having ones memory wiped and altered was no stranger of a feat when it came to the organization. The Cyber initiative would be no different, wiping subjects minds in an attempt to harbor total control and completely destroy emotion.

“That look in your eyes... it seems you’ve finally put two and two together haven’t you? Yes my mind was initially blank and cybernetic like Dr. Weil intended, but thanks to your activities it awakened the hatred in my heart for you, as I remembered that day that you lashed out and put a bullet through my back. You only have yourself to blame for what I’ve become, and even if you don’t blame yourself, I do.” Haec kneeled down next to the opened suit of Project Hades and reached inside of it to tear free an elongated plasma rifle from the depths of the machine’s arsenal. “And now you’ve ruined my chance at revenge, and weaseled your way out of trouble once more. But now, now will be different. Now you will be punished for your crimes, and I will be there to see it. And first, I’m going to start your punishment by killing every last one of these bastards that dared to follow you. Soldiers! Raise your weapons!”

Tens of barrels were lifted up and aimed at the crew present on the planet, all prepared to put a bullet in every one of their heads.

“No!” Ezro cried out, moving to strike his brother only to be grabbed and restrained by two soldiers. “Don’t do this Haec, I beg of you!” Struggling against the grip of the soldiers, Ezro suddenly stopped and lowered his head. “I’ll go with you. If you let them all go..... I’ll go with you without a fight.”
