Ocean123

One Thousand Club
The day was bright and sunny, with only the occasional fluffy white cloud floating through. The huge, stone building dominated the landscape, looking almost like a castle with its rounded turrets reaching ever greater heights. The sight of it reminded some of the arriving teenagers of a certain popular book about wizards and witches and a great war to save a country. The comparison was further enhanced by the similarities with the way they were each contacted about attending this 'specialized' academy.

One such student was making their way, quite quickly, towards the tall oak double doors that served as the entrance to the towering building. They completely ignored the surrounding woodland, extravagant flower gardens and glittering fountain taking up the center of the courtyard. Even the majestic moutains peaking over the horizon went unnoticed in this new arrival's haste to get inside, out of the burning sun and to the dormroom they would live in for the coming months. The purple haired youth could only hope there would be more than one outlet in the room.

They weren't dsappointed. After receiving a keycard and lanyard from a woman sitting at the desk just inside the front doors, they headed east towards the dormitories. They were slightly put out after learning that roommates were a 'thing' here but relieved at the size of the room provided. Dorm 123 was large enough to fit two queen-sized beds and still have room for two small desks and still spacious enough that all of the electronics and wires they had brought could easily stay on their side of the room.

Speaking of sides... Micah quickly claimed the right side of the room for themself so they could sleep in their preferred position while keeping their back facing the wall. The green eyed teen liked to know what was behind him, likely due to the horror movies and crime documentaries they spent so much of their time watching.

Aaliyah sat on the grass outside the building, back against a sum-warmed wall. She couldn't bring herself to go inside just yet. To face the swell of bodies, the crush of noise. No, outside would suit her just fine until going in became a strict necessity.

Besides, this was the good part.

It was books like these she loved. Books of magic and myth, where those versed in spellcasting were storied heroes, rather than oddities. Rather than demons, as her family had called her the when she had first discovered it. No exorcism was enough to drive out the host that she, herself, had contracted. She had been lonely, and they had become her friends.

"Come now, Aaliyah," A voice hissed in her ear. "Don me, and we could run. You don't want to be here."

"No," Aaliyah replied. "Hush now, Margorith. They aren't going to exorcise you again."

"Again, and again... Do you know how it burns, child? How much, despite years of Hell, you puny humans hurt when you try to expel us?"

Aaliyah shook her head. "I don't," she said, "and that's why we're here: so I can finally live without fear, and you will never feel that pain again." She gazed down at the ground, saw two white eyes peering up from the dirt. "All of you. I mean it." She took a deep breath. "We're safe here."

The day was rather gorgeous, at least Leo may have noticed it if he wasn't looking at the place with suspicion in his eyes. It seemed too perfect with everything in place. He was already coming here to investigate so he started as early as when he first left his house. He documented everything that caught his eye on the way here and as he wrote in one of his many notebooks he kept about the scenery he questioned if it was real or not. Some could certainly be props to try and show a more calm environment to make people not question anything. The fountain was the most suspicious to him. He came up to it and started to tap the sides with his pencil. It seemed solid enough but it could also be an illusion. He noted that before he went to look at the flowers gardens. They were probably really well made since they felt like real flowers. Said garden could be hiding secrets under it, though he didn't want to bring attention to himself if he just started to dig into the dirt.

With everything outside noted, and then noted twice along with the possibilities of when it could hide or be made out of, Leo finally went inside the building. He got his key card and lanyard. He tried to smile though it was lopsided. It was to appear as nonthreatening as possible. Which probably failed. He quickly went to an area that he could check over each. Looking for microphones or chips in them. He wasn't convinced of anything when he couldn't find anything. He'll need to check them again later. For now he took note of the area inside, heading over to a lounge area. He briefly looked inside and wrote down what he saw. He'd have stayed longer if not for the fact that he needed to make sure his room was all set up for his research. With that in mind he wandered around until he found the door to his room. He was going to be sharing it and he'll need to make sure his roommate wasn't working for anyone that would stop his research.

Opening the door he found that his roommate was already in there. They seemed to have went to the right side. He wondered if there was something there that needed guarding. He should have gotten here earlier so he could check each side for anything. He walked in after closing the door behind him and went to the left bed before putting down his backpack and notebook onto it. He looked over to his roommate, silently trying to decide if they were trustworthy or not. He'll need more testing for that but it wouldn't hurt to introduce himself "Hey, names Leo- how'd you get invited here? Did they put anything on you? Can you remember your past?" yeah that was a good way to start.

Music Box: Laced With Ashes ~ Lacy's Theme

Ash walked through the courtyard slowly. It wasn't that he was taking in the sights, he just wasn't in any particular hurry to get where he needed to go. It's not like there were classes he had to get to. It was jist orientation day or whatever. He hadn't read the letter to closely. Just closely enough that he knew he had to go to this school, if only to be the least weird person in the room.

In the center of the courtyard there was a fountain, the water contained within glittering like diamonds. Ash supposed it was rather pretty, if you were into that sort of thing. Ash wasn't. He was, however, into having a place to sit and think. Well, think wasn't quite the right word. It was more like sit and dwell. Yeah, that was right. Dwell.

And so Ash did just that. He headed over to the edge of the fountain and sat down, staring into the waters like they were a crystal ball.

Interacting with: no-one. He's just brooding. Feel free to talk to him.

All Emily could think as she stared up at the school was how much she loved the lengths her band were going to this time. She couldn't help but whistle at the sight of it, just how much money did it take to rent out a place like this? She knew at least two of her band mates were packing some serious cash, but this was just overkill. Emily wasn't about to start complaining though, overkill was the best kind of kill, and it would take nothing less if they truly thought they'd be getting her today.

So with a grin planted firmly on her face, the vocalist approached.

Seriously, she didn't even know you could rent out fancy castles like this, let alone for a prank. And all the people walking around, did they have to splurge on this many hired actors? Emily knew they wouldn't be able to get the reaction they wanted out of her, so she was already coming up with ways to repay them for all this effort. Perhaps she could just say she was starting to believe in the whole mystical school summoning her things and let them believe that they got her.

That was the entire crux of her thought process as she received her key-card and made her way to where she was sure the dorms were supposed to be.

But what if they had cameras on her? Thinking that they'd be able to get her to freak out on live television? Could that be how they afforded this place? Some kind of TV plot to get people like her to consider the impossible? Was some dude in a trim-back cap and sunglasses gonna jump out and start yelling how stupid she was n front of a live audience? She couldn't exactly rule it out.

But to go that far, she at least had to give the potential viewers something to enjoy. And so her walk began to change into more of a saunter, the smile on her face growing more cocky as she made sure to glance back dramatically. That would totally make for an epic intro shot, she could already feel her name on a flashy title card whizzing by. She was already one of the more photogenic members of Burnt Blessings, so acting the part of clueless skeptic wasn't outside of her capability.

But just as she began approaching the dormitories, something reached her ears. The sound of someone speaking was emanating from a nearby window. Emily poked her head out of the window and looked to the side to find some girl leaning back against the wall talking quietly to herself.

Emily tilted her head before leaning forward out of the window "Heya Beau!" she called down to her with a smile "Why ya sitting there looking all lonely like that?"

Recently having entered the school grounds alosk had a optimistic kick in his step almost skipping along, the place looked like a beautiful old castle. A concept the boy very much enjoyed thinking about imagine if you had to make this with no power tools. It was a impressive feat. Then again with the revelation that magic existed could they have judged used that? Regardless the court yard seemed lovely alosk heading toward the fountain where there seemed to be another student how seemed to just be looking into the water, alosk really didn’t understand why? Prehaps there was something in there he was not seeing? “Hey what are you looking at?” He asked the boy sounds as friendly as ever.

Meanwhile there was something watching alosk from a distance it had been following the boy for a while but now it managed to catch up it for now was just a set of red eyes sneaking its way around shadows of the court yard hopping between them before settling itself under one of the shrubs. A odd pop sound happened soon after the other creature had settled down, and a girl had appeared out of nowhere in the shrub that the first creature settled into, the red eyed shadow creature grumble in annoyance at the girl who just waved it off “you sure he’s the one? If he’s not where dead within like the next day” the girl wisphered to the shadow creature it answering back with a annoyed gurgle “I’m sure of it... now shut up” it said

(Sorry if this was sort and badly written/done... just wanted to get a intro post out)

"Gah!" Ash shouted, caught off guard. He had been too lost in thought to see the student approach and was surprised when he spoke. Quickly, he turned around to face his adresser but wasn't paying attention to where his feet were going and tripped over the edge of the fountain and into the water with a splash... and also a bit of a magical flash.

"Ow." He groaned, sitting up and rubbing his head. He looked down at his now soaked clothes but mainly his now soaked skirt. He was pretty sure he had been wearing pants before. He sighed.

"Just typical."

Andrea, or as of now, Andrew, scowled as he took his lanyard, not wanting to deal with any kind of rude or nosy roommate while dressed the way he was. He threw his bag onto a bench and plopped down next to it, muttering obscenities the whole time.

He's just grouchy, go say hi.

Ash felt his cheeks glow red as the student, who he now knew to be a boy with black hair and brown eyes, laughed at him. Nevertheless, when the boy offered to help him up, Ash took him up on the offer. Once he was standing Ash rubbed the back of his neck. Not the best of first impressions on either side of this encounter. Ash took a deep breath.

"It's... well, I can't exactly say it's fine." He said. "I was hoping to avoid this," He gestured at himself. "For as long as possible. Who knows how long it'll take me to change back." Ash paused for a second before he realized he hadn't introduced himself. "Oh yeah, I'm Ash. That's it. No last name. Just Ash." Ash was aware that people would find it weird that he insisted on a lack of a last name but if he couldn't keep his powers secret he could at least keep his real name secret.

Jasmine Heartston
Location: Front of the School
Interaction: Nobody, she's just chatting with some plants and walking to the door.

"New..."

"Not seen before, not seen before!"

"New faces..."

"Fresh blood."

"Newnewnewnewnewnew?"

Jasmine listened to the plants around her murmuring in curiosity at the new crowd of students. She walked slowly, not in much of a rush to get into the school and her dorm. Why would she? There were so many voices--and therefore, possible new friends--around here, both of familiar and more exotic flora. The warm rusty voices of the trees in the semi-distant woodlands, the nigh inaudible whisper of the grass, the volume-varying murmurs of the flowers in the garden trying to be heard over each other, and of course-

"GRAARRRRGH."

The large oaken doors making the entrance of the school, huffing out zombie-like growls in its current state. That was why Jasmine didn't particularly like wooden furniture or collections of dried flowers. They all let out the most horrific moans that made it very hard to keep herself together. She was glad that the scents of flowers didn't have voices as well, or she'd be assaulted with snarls every time she washed her hair. But how she felt about some of the voices she could hear with her gift was quickly shoved back into her brain as she walked up to one of the gardens filled with an assortment of flowers.

"Looking at us."

"Please don't pick..?"

"Admiringadmiringadmiring..!"

The soft yet colorful notes of the flowers became louder as she bent down to examine them. Pinks, purples, soft baby blues, all gently kissed with magic to preserve their beauty just a bit longer. Well, at least in her fantasy they would be. She had no clue if they actually were affected by magic at all, or if they were just normal plants. Regardless, she smiled slightly at the crowd and began reaching out with her mind to communicate with the beautiful blooms. Then she stopped. This was a school of magic, wasn't it? Talking with plants was probably a lot more normal here, so why would she need to be all secretive about it? She could speak aloud with them, couldn't she? Nervously swallowing, she stared at the petals of an unusually colored purple rose and spoke in the speak of the plants, "<Hello friend. You have quite nice petals.>" To everyone else, it sounded like utter nonsense, but to her, it was the first leafspeak she'd spoken aloud in quite a while. Giggling a little at the shudder of the rose's leaves that resembled something close to human confusion, listening as the leafy conversations around her began to change.

"She speaks!"

"She spoke our speak?"

"Our speak is her speak!"

Standing back up from her crouched posistion, she smiled a little as the arguments over a spot of sun and average chitchat came to a screeching halt as the news of a leafspeaking girl was passed through leaf and root. Pushing her green hair out of her eyes, she began walking towards the school again, standing a little more confidently. Maybe this school year would be her best one yet.

(Holy crackers, this was a lot longer than I thought it would be.)

Alosk nodded at what ash had said Just randomly becoming a girl could pose a problem. “yeah, I can see an issue with that, but nice to meet you ash I’m alosk”. Almost as soon as he stopped talking the shadowy creature hiding in the bushes began moving across the garden, it appeared as only a long shadow with red eyes at the end it eventually reached alosk it began coiling it’s way up the boys body it’s red eyed head (if that what I could be called) sitting on his shoulder, a purple energy being pulled off of alosk body by the monstrous thing. Andrew saw a girl walk into the gardens a little ways away from him. He tilted his head as she crouched in front of a bush, but tensed when she turned to leave, coming towards him. He looked around before diving into the nearest bush. 'Fuck this power' He grimaced as he adjusted the skirt.

Ash was about ready to bolt. Not because of the shadow thingy but because of his barely reprssed social anxiety, only increased by his girly state. On the outside, he looked grumpy and displeased. On the inside he was anxious and nervous.

"That's cool." He said. "But I've kind of gotbto go and dry off. Wonder if this school has towels."

Steve Freeling had just arrived at his new school. Looks like they take good care of this place. Something caught his eye.
"Wow. Look at those mountains," he whispered to himself. I wonder why Mom and Dad were so determined to send me here. I don't have any magical powers that I'm aware of. The brown-haired, blue-eyed teen pondered his current situation. He was clad in a tracksuit consisting of a red windbreaker with a white stripe on each sleeve, a white T-shirt with a red neckline, and red shorts, his feet covered by a pair of white New Balance sneakers and white socks, a backpack slung over his left shoulder while he wheeled a suitcase along with his right hand. I'm surprised my last school let me keep it. Though adorned with no logos, the tracksuit had been the school uniform for gym and track at his previous school, which Steve had ended up wearing all the time with how active he was. Then again, I guess they did have to size it just for me because of how tall I am. Steve had towered over most of the students at his previous school at not quite two inches shy of six feet. He dropped his head at the thought. Everyone looks at me like I'm a freak because of that. That's why I hate myself. Many would tease and poke fun at him, which hadn't bothered him so much except for the biggest offenders. What the hell did those three guys have against me? Those three boys seemed to have truly hated him. Steve would have to fight them every day. Wait... Was that why Mom and Dad were so adamant about this? Do they really think it'll be any different here? Will it be any different here? Or will I be stuck with a roommate who wants to beat the crap out of me every day? In a rare turn, even the music coursing from his smartphone into his earbuds was unable to drown out such thoughts. He shook his head. What the hell's wrong with me? It's nice and sunny out here today. I shouldn't be thinking things like this at all. In his distraction, he tripped and let out a yelp as he fell flat on his rear, his backpack skyrocketed right off of his shoulder and into the bushes, and his suitcase slipped out of his right hand and rapidly rolled farther and farther behind him.
"Damn it! W-wait! Not so fast! Well, I guess this is exactly the kind of thing that would happen to me, isn't it?" He unintentionally thought aloud while getting up and turning around to chase the suitcase.

Interaction: Questioning why the hell Pirate-King-Kyper Pirate-King-Kyper is sitting in a bush.

As Jasmine continued forward towards the castle-like school, her gaze was hung on the baby blue sky whipped with clouds too small to resemble any kind of shape. She closed her eyes, feeling the early autumn sunlight settle on her skin as the collective harmony of the plants hummed in her ears. This happy moment was quickly burst by the realization that maybe this was a good way to also accidentally hurt herself by unintentionally stepping off the path. Tilting her head forward and reopening her eyes, Jasmine concluded this was a smart call, as her foot had gotten a few inches too close to one of the garden planters for comfort. Along with something that could've potentially caused an accident, she swore she also saw someone dash into one of the bushes a few feet ahead of her. Frowning slightly, she walked towards the bush in question, asking it, "<Did someone climb inside of you, friend?>" To which said bush responded, "Yessseee, a boy climbs into me. He standsies on my favorites stem. Pleeeeases make him get out..." Jasmine froze and shuddered a little. She was incredibly good with plants, having learned what pronouns and nouns they enjoyed being referred to along with other flora social information throughout years of talking to them. Yet, it was a little hard to apply that to people. They were a little less stagnant when it came to all of the etiquette, the names, and all of the other things that made leafspeak less of a cumbersome gift to have than one would think. Still, she really didn't want to leave this bush having their favorite woody stem stood on. Taking a deep breath and trying to think of what to say, she made eye contact with roughly where a person could hide in a bush like this.

"Hey. Get out of there."

Jasmine cringed a little as she realized how demanding the words she had spoken sounded. She didn't want to beat this guy up or anything, she just didn't want him to bother her leafy possible-friend. Yet, that was probably how it sounded, didn't it? She hoped he didn't get the wrong idea.

Andrew jumped. He sat there for a moment and weighed the pros and cons of leaving, before finally clambering out of the bush slowly. "How did you know I was in there?" He asked, glancing at the decently sized plant before looking back at the girl who told him to get out.

"Huh?" Steve saw the suitcase about to fall on top of him and stepped back just in time to grab the handle. It just fell out of the sky like that. How? Just attribute it to the fact that I don't know much about magic.
"Great. As if falling on my ass wasn't bad enough, my suitcase had to almost fall on top of me?" he muttered under his breath. He removed his earbuds and stuffed them in his pocket upon catching sight of a rather attractive red-haired girl talking to him. Where'd she come from? Wait. 'Hello, human'? But she looks human. So that means... It never took Steve long to catch on. It's not like I have much anyone would want to steal, though.
"...okay? Wait, you specifically called me a human. That must mean you're a ghost or demon, aren't you? Thank you for returning my suitcase, anyway. It was you, right?" Many would likely find it unnerving how calm Steve was in the face of a demon. As he said this, he simply walked over to the bush while wheeling the suitcase along, grabbed his backpack, and slung it over his shoulder. With the way he acted now, one would think nothing had happened.
"Well, if we're going to be seeing more of each other around here, I guess you should know my name is Steve. Some might consider it impolite to simply call a person by their species." An uncharacteristically playful smirk broke across his face.

"Well, not to brag, but I guess I did get a score of 135 on my IQ test." His smile was a little nervous since he wasn't someone who was used to talking up his own accomplishments. She's certainly a lot different from some of the other demons I've encountered. One demon (which Steve had noted bore an uncanny resemblance to the eponymous Predator in John McTiernan's film of the same name aside from the horns on his head and the pitchfork he wielded) had done everything he could to make one of Steve's classmates in third grade feel like crap. What had surprised everyone in the school and scared this demon half to death was when Steve had calmly (and rather bluntly) told him, "Leave her alone, you Neanderthal pile of crap, or I'll beat the stew out of you and then feed you to the alligators in the Mississippi River Delta." This particular demon fled the school and never bothered anyone in Steve's hometown ever again. Then she told him her name. Mork? Cool!
"Mork, huh? If you don't mind me saying so, that's actually a pretty cool name. It suits you. You've got a great sense of humor. Fitting for someone with the same name as a character played by the great Robin Williams. And hey, better Mork than Muska or Yubaba, right?" He offered a friendly smile as he said this.

"impressive one their kid" mork didn't really know what a IQ test even was but she liked this steve fellow so she didn't wanna be too rude, although she was surprised that he actually didn't think her name was stupid "awww thanks for saying that didn't think id be compared to an actor " mork said before giving steve a quick hug.. but also check his pockets in the process stealing his earbud without him even noticing, she liked him but she couldn't help it, it was in her nature when she backed of for a moment she seemed to remember something suddenly "oh hey you should meet my anchor" a portal opened up under alosk dropping him onto the ground in front of mork and steve mork picking him up hugging him an obvious purple energy following off alosk and into morks body "this is alosk" also turning around mork still basically attached to him draining energy off of his body looking at steve sighed "hi... im alosk... and i suppose.. you... actually... wait your mork? right... thought you had a different anchor?" mork laughed a little "oh well he died so im here now I'm that old friend Macrim was talking about" he shook his head looking at steve again "I'm sooo sorry about her she wasn't to much trouble was she?"

Steve nearly jolted at the hug because he wasn't used to such from those outside of his family. Is something in her hand now? Before Steve knew what was happening, or could dwell further on that thought, Mork dropped a boy named Alosk, who quickly apologized for her behavior, in front of him.
"It's okay, she didn't give me any trouble. I'm Steve by the way." As chance would have it, his phone rang right then. While fishing it out, he noticed something. My earbuds are gone. Oh, well. I guess she did say she would steal my stuff. I'll let it go this time. I still have my headphones and another pair of earbuds anyway. Earbuds are so cheap that I can just get another pair from Dollar Tree anyways. He read the screen. It's Dad.
"Gotta take this. Shouldn't take long, though." He answered.
"Hi, Dad. What was it you needed? Yes, I've arrived safely. No, Dad. Nothing bad happened. Okay, talk to you later." As Steve had predicted, the conversation didn't last very long. Why is Dad so worried all the time? It's not like I'm made of glass. The fact that those three guys could never lay a finger on me is proof of that. What he didn't even stop to think of was that his depressive emotional state was exactly the kind of thing that would make someone worry.
Steve sighed. "He should just send a text that says, 'Worrying, like always.'"

More than once Emily questioned the budget for a prank such as this.

There were too many actors, too much detail, too much special effects if that one student she spotted was anything to go off of. She'd give credit where credit was due, her band mates had probably blown the cost of a B-grade movie on this setup, and it was undoubtedly impressive. But Emily was starting to get a little worried, this wasn't the first time her band had gotten loose with their money. The fans often found it endearing, as what money didn't go into performance often went into partying or travelling. Emily was positive that even if they blew most of their cash with the sole purpose of convincing her that some kind of mystical happenings were possible, they'd be able to make it back to the top in no time.

So with reassurances to herself, Emily threw open the door to her dorm room with gusto before taking in a deep breath. Seemed recently cleaned, enough space for two maybe even three people, lots of good atmosphere. Yeah, Emily could definitely see herself bunking here for a while until they sprung their trap on her. Casually tossing one of her bags onto one of the beds, Emily found herself pondering just who they'd set her up with. It would have to be someone capable off selling this whole magic shtick. Everything had been top notch so far, so Emily would be more than dissapointed if they skimped out one of the main actors and pulled in an intern or something.

Either way, she wasn't too concerned about unpacking just yet, so she turned and sauntered right back out of the door, pulling it closed behind her as she started to retrace her steps. Despite how authentic everything looked there was always a hole in production somewhere. Emily couldn't remember a single play, film or performance where there wasn't something off. They were all subject to human error, so it was more than forgivable. But... there'd be no harm in looking for a little ammunition to use when they were all laughing about this once the whole reveal happens.

She'd play it off as just being curious, she'd been able to sell harder performances.

And so Emily explored a little, retracing her steps towards the front of the school at first. She wasn't sure how long she had until all the new students were called to assemble, but she was anything but slow. She took a different path, and wound up wandering back outside and keeping her eyes on the few students she could see approaching. If they were really going all the way with this academy thing, then the actor they'd have as her roommate should be amongst new arrivals like her.

She hummed one of her band's songs as she looked around, giving a wink or wave to others she passed until she paused. Ahead of her she spotted another girl, the thing that stood out was that this girl seemed to demanding something from a bush... and the bush began shaking. Emily hurried to walk over, eager to see what kind of special effects and tricks would go into making this instantly weird scenario seem plausible. Her anticipation arose once the voice began speaking from the bush, only for those expectations to get shot down immediately once someone in a skirt rose from the bush.

"Aw," Emily pouted as she walked over to them with a casual wave of greeting "when I heard greenie over here speaking to the bush I thought it was coming alive and giving her some sass. Bummer."

Stuffing her hands into the pockets of her hoodie, Emily's pout was replaced with a grin as she looked over the performers. She nodded towards the Academy "But if you guys are here then that must mean ya got some crazy abilities and stuff, right?"

She leaned forward a bit and gave a little look around before whispering "Mine just happens to be music, how about you guys?"
