OOC Little Talks

For me, Wolf, unless we're in combat, the descriptions you provide for your scenery is more than enough. While pictures are nice, I don't require a map. You describe your settings to satisfaction - each description a painted image in my brain - and I hope you give yourself credit for that. =)

As for A'kal, I saw that and gave you benefit of the doubt. =)

As for Asher, I read only Jack's post as his character simply getting out of danger. I fully expected a rendezvous with the party later.

While Jack does not often post here in Little Talks, he does not strike me as the kind of player who would simply leave a game so irresponsibly. At the risk of sounding naive, I think Jack would be the kind of person to tell us here, in his own words, if and why he intended to quit playing.

For me, Jack, too, deserves benefit of the doubt. =)

I didn't mean that he was trying to leave the game, I meant that he might inadvertently put his character in a situation where he'd lose the others (and find himself akin to having left the game, pending a good way to bring him back). I'll have to talk to him either way *woof*

That said, I suppose I had best start giving some thought to recruitment again. There were a couple people who spontaneously showed interest in joining, but the last one was a year ago, and back then I remember telling him to wait until we finish the chapter after New Year (of 2018...). There's no way that I can poke any of these people after so much time has passed, even if they were still around lol.

So if you or Kaerri know someone who might be interested, feel free to extend an invitation. It would beat just going to the interest checks and trying to get random people to join. I don't doubt I could find a handful, even for a game that's more than halfway done and has certain limitations on character creation by now, but I doubt the, erm... quality, shall we say, of these individuals. And I don't want to see the game spoiled in any way for those of you who are still here.

It's a tough situation. I wish I still had friends here, but virtually everyone I RPed with has disappeared in the interim :/ (discounting you and Kaerri, of course)

I do have one person in mind, but even if I get him to join, I still would like to get 2 or even 3 more. But that's all.

Re: Jack. Oh! I completely misunderstood! Thank you for taking the time to clarify that. =)

Re: Recruiting. You know the majority people that I know here, Wolf. Most of the folks I can think of are not right for one reason or another (one player in particular is a champion poster, but cannot be relied upon to post).

One thing I must recommend to you, and it serves me well when I am considering new players, is to read their posting history.

For example, before I invited Psychie to Broadsword, I did a thorough search of the post that she had written. I looked for tone, grammar, post frequency, post content, and overall personality. It was nice that Sherwood had recommended her, but I felt I had to see for myself what kind of player she was.

Having done my research, I felt comfortable having her join. Of course, it is because of that, that she is with us in Sharseya too. =)

Hmm. Having just written that, I guess I am recommending Psychie. =)

Psychie seems to have her plate kind of full, being engaged in about half a dozen games from what I can tell, and they're all tabletops, so somehow I doubt she'd be interested.

Thanks anyway! *woof*

Sure! Psychie is a winner. I feel lucky to have her in my games, especially for as long as she has been playing in them.

Hmm! Here is another possibility.

Silanon is a fellow I've been playing alongside in Sherwood's most recent Rifts game. I get the impression he is busy outside of the gaming world, but he might be available to play.

I like him because he tends to be the creative, helpful sort who genuinely wants to see everyone have fun. He also has roleplaying experience, but it is his good-hearted personality I find I like best. =)

Most of the people I know here are either staff or you know them already. Or both. ^;3^ Not that I think being Staff is a bad thing, but it does tend to take up extra time. Also the people I know from hanging out in the Profile Posts section, but I have no idea what sort of roleplayers they are. A few don't even roleplay here anymore, they just stick around to be social.

I remember Silanon from an all-too-shortlived RP we were both in, and liked him there, little though it was.

I'll give some thought to actual suggestions and see who I can come up with.

That's the other place I know Silanon from! Thanks, Kaerri! I knew I'd RPed with him (albeit briefly), but I could not remember where!

Playing with banners there, Wolf? I like the map with Alicante right there. =)

I'll have a "chat" with her tomorrow and try to get one up. ^33^

Ah, caught red-pawed :P*woof*

I noticed that the banner/header functionality works now, so I thought I'd make a tweak or two. It seemed that by default, the system took whatever first picture was posted in a thread for the banner (which is why the Chapter VI banner was already what I would've set it to). But then I have no idea how the map from the world map thread showed up here in the OOC. To me, Little Talks was always something done by the fireplace in between missions, so I searched for a suitable picture. No one remembers this anymore, but originally, Amaranth was inspired by Dragon Age Origins, and in that game you got to spend the evenings between missions in a forest clearing at night, wooing your romantic interest and making plans for the next day by the campfire. That's kinda what I wanted from Little Talks, even though IC we didn't get very many such nights.

I hope we can change that! *woof*

Did you prefer the map? (^^),

Oh, that's just beautiful! I agree with you there! =)

Random fact: I just realized that Amaranth and Sharseya both have exactly 54 threads! What are the chances of that XD

Hm. And the Robotech game is creeping up with 51...

Dann, are you sure you're not doing this on purpose? *rrrrr*

Dear Wolf,

I answer your question with a question of my own - with this brain of mine, do you *honestly* believe that I am so well-organized as to be able to do something like that *by design?* Ha ha ha!

If so, please allow me to dispel that illusion immediately! =)

Thinking on that, it doesn't make any sense to me. Sharseya and Broadsword have at least 2 years of age between them. There are 12 chapters currently in Sharseya and only 5 in Broadsword.

So how can they be nearly equal in thread count?

The Archives help a lot, for Amaranth. There's 19 threads in there, only one of which is an information thread. And more books will show up before the game is over.

Combine that with the 14 threads in the main forum, 15 character sheets (including an info thread), and the 6 threads in the Link to the Past...

54.

So yeah, it's mostly thanks to the Archives. The other subforums aren't likely to ever see any significant increase in threads, We'll get half a dozen new chapters, maybe several new players, but that's it.

Similar thing with Broadsword. You underestimate how quickly the threads from the other subforums add up.

Oh! That reminds me. I've been meaning to ask you and Kaerri if you've perhaps changed your minds, and would like to start a session in the Link to the Past. I think it'd be interesting, not to mention helpful, to explore some defining moments from your characters' pasts and see what made them into who they are. Purely optional. If you want. Maggie would be easier, I think, since she's younger and her past isn't as convoluted as Auri's. With Auri, since his life spans so many years and centuries, I am hard pressed to keep track of what overlaps with what, and which war happened when and such.

Just something to consider. We'll press on IC regardless *woof*

Ah! Is that how thread-counting works? Cool! I had never thought about it until you brought it up.

As for RPing in another story, I'm afraid I'm up to my limit (4, 2 of which, of course, I am running). There is a 5th that I have an open invitation to, but I have turned it down for the time being.

As much as I would like to do a 5th story/RP, something somewhere else in my free time would have to give before I felt comfortable joining yet another.

Thank you for considering me though, Wolf. That is nice of you. =)

I understand. While it's not really a whole different RP, it does take your character on quite a tangent from the main storyline. I introduced this game mode mostly to give people something to do while they're waiting on others in the main story, but of course if you already have your plate full with other site projects then you are already satisfyingly busy :P

The invitation stands for Kaerri Kaerri , or rather: It stands for both of you, and other Amaranth players, and will continue to stand until the game ends, should you change your mind at any point ^^

*woof*

Kaerri Kaerri it's been nearly a full week since my last post, and everyone else has chimed in since. Yes, even Jack :P *woof*

The alerts derping on you again?
