Kanen shrugged a little. "My dad was military, we moved around a lot when I was little. Accents come easy." His smiled widened a little bit as he talked to the goofy, quirky girl. She seemed bashful. Of course, Kanen promptly decided that it was his moral obligation to help her come out of her shell a bit. "Is Nova short for anything, or do people just call you that because you've got an explosive personality?" He questioned, referencing super novas. That's right. Kanen knows stuff, despite looking like some big dumb jock. In fact, Kanen's two favorite subjects were history and science. Eat it nerds.

Nova couldn't help but roll her eyes a bit, a laugh sliding from her lips. So maybe he wasn't a jock.. at least not in the head. The petite brunette's shoulders softened and she looked back to the pretty stranger, dead in the eyes (as if she was intimidating). "Just Nova," She cooed, chuckling a little and shaking her head. "Let me ask you something Kanen, do all the new girls get puns made about their names or is it just because I had the pleasure of crashing into you?" A playful smirk graced Nova's lips as she said it, her arms folding across her chest, her eyebrow lifted inquisitively. Her cheeks had a slight rosy tint to them as she bit back a smile that she couldn't help. Kanen was cute, no doubt about it. And he seemed kind... and Nova needed more kind people in her life.

"Actually, only pretty girls from Seattle get this kind of special treatment." Kanen corrected, leaning up against one of the lockers. "Luckily for you, you meet all the qualifications. Crazy huh? What're the chances." Kanen feigned a look of surprise as he looked down at the smaller girl. He was happy she opened up so quick, already cracking jokes. A little light flirting could go a long way apparently.
"Do you always blush around handsome guys? Or only the ones you run into in the hallways?" He asked, crossing his arms over his chest, just as she had herself.

A small scoff involuntarily fell from Nova's slips, as if she either lost her breath or was appalled at Kanen's forwardness. Even she couldn't yet decipher which it was. He was handsome, he had gotten that nail on the head, but her? Pretty? This guy thought that she was pretty? Her blush only deepened as Kanen mimicked her arms, her gaze falling down a little. "Well aren't you sweet," Nova smiled, biting her lip in an attempt to hide it. No one had ever so blatantly flirted with her before, and to her surprise, it was actually quite nice. "I try to keep my blushing to a minimum in general, by the way. Handsome guys and crashing into people just tend to make it flare up." A small laugh escaped her as she looked back up to Kanen, confirming for herself that the men were just made better in Maine.

The Nikki sisters woke up with pounding headaches and waves of nausea. Samantha had it the worst; throwing up on the floor after trying to get up. Both girls looked at each other after finding their glasses that were near them. Samantha was in a poor state, calling Westbrook High and telling them she's sick. Angelina took some Paracetamol and getting changed into a different dress. She sprays a hefty amount of persume, sneezing into her arm as her nose got overwhelmed.
"Bless you, big sis" Samantha muttered with a little chuckle. Angelina thanked her little sister, putting on her wedges and finishing her makeup. Hugging Samantha, softly, Angelina then headed off at a quick pace.

Getting to school, she headed up the stairs rather quickly. Getting to the lockers, Angelina slipped on something, falling over, her handbag and glasses out of her grasp. She groaned as her headache deteriorated, getting on her hands and knees. Feeling around for her glasses, she heard them get kicked.
"Someone help. I can't see without my glasses".

"Sounds like I'm two for two so far, huh?" Kanen spoke, letting a cocky grin spread across his lips. He was enjoying himself, it'd been a while since he had just innocently flirted, mostly just because girls didn't like drunks. Who knew? Crazy how being sober makes you more attractive. "How about we go three for three, and I get your phone number?" Kanen suggested. He knew it was a tad bit of a stretch, but what the hell. Why not just go for it?"

Well wasn't he just man of the hour. Nova couldn't help but find a loose thread on her jacket a fiddle with it a bit. This was fun, this was really fun, and it was something that Nova had hardly ever experienced before. Crashing into a handsome stranger, that handsome stranger thinking she was pretty, that same handsome stranger now asking for her phone number. Kanen seemed so nice, to the point where she was almost skeptical... almost. But alas, her girlish butterflies swept the feeling away. The guy wanted her phone number, she wanted to be flirty, and she made the snap decision to do just that. "Alright," Nova smirked, bringing her backpack around to one side. With her phone almost dead and her love of semi-cliche moves, she pulled a black felt-tip pen from her backpack and uncapped it, grabbing Kenan's hand and flipping it over to his palm. "How about you try for four and actually use it later?" Nova smiled, finishing her phone number and capping the pen again before looking back up to Kenan. He was so tall... and so fit... even she didn't know how she managed to pull that one off. As soon as she managed to put the pen away the bell rang, a slight panic falling onto her face as she groaned in a little annoyance. "And I still have no clue where my class is," She chuckled, looking back at Kenan with a slightly hopeless look as if to hope he could point her in the right direction.

Ryan was listening to Sawyer as she spoke about her plan. Didn't seem like a bad idea, it would probably help Grace feel better. When June had come over, Ryan smiled. It wasn't going to be only him in this plan. Normally Sawyer's plans would end terribly and Ryan would have to clean it up. Not this time though. She had thought of everything, which was good. He didn't think this one would. He hoped it didn't. He was going to try his best to help her out. "Sawyer. Take a breath. It'll all work out fine. Just take a step back and breath." He said trying to calm her down. Sometimes she would do that. She would get so excited and her mind moved a mile a minute. She would also talk really fast. "I'll help out, and I don't doubt that I might know someone else who might help us out. I'll talk with them." He said.

"Classic." Kanen joked as she took hold of his hand, brushing the black pen across his skin, etching her phone number into his palm. As soon as she was done, Kanen joking raised his hand up, blowing the ink dry. "Wouldn't want to lose this." He said with a smirk. He was about to crack another joke when the bell rang, interrupting his thoughts. The boy was pulled back into reality when Nova mentioned not knowing where her classes were. "Well have you got your schedule? I'm sure I could help ou find wherever you need to be." He offered. Yeah, it might make him late to class, but Kanen was sure any teacher would be ok with it, just so long as Kanen explained why he was late.

He was so smooth. How was any high school student so smooth? It was as if he didn't have an ounce of awkward in his body. Which made Nova slightly nervous, considering she was at least 1/8 pure awkward. Kanen looked like the kind of guy that should be dating the next Kylie Jenner, someone with big boobs and an ass, two things that Nova didn't exactly show off. Her butt was cute, as her best friend used to say, but even then. She looked at Kanen again, dismissing those thoughts and fumbling through her backpack for her schedule. Once finally found, she handed it to the pretty boy before her, moving to be beside him so she could take another once over, unsure of what her classes were. Biology, then AP English Lit, AP History, Chem... all classes that she surely didn't mind. "Thank you," Nova grinned up at him, a genuine grin that was honest in its intentions. She knew she should be careful, what with the butterflies the guy gave her, but damn he was just so charming.

Kanen's eyes floated across her schedule. She had plenty of classes that would typically be considered nerdy or geeky. Kanen wasn't stupid or anything, but he wouldn't be caught dead in an AP English Literature class. Going over Shakespearian novels every day would drive him insane. However, she had plenty of science classes, as well as the AP history. "Favorite historical Era?" Kanen questioned. He of course preferred the time of the Roman's. Gladiators. Conquests. Sciences and discovery. As a kid, Kanen often imagined he was a Centurion, leading his legion through the forests of Germany, or matching through the deserts of Israel.

Without any hesitation, Nova responded, "World War two," as if she had just been asked her name. "I uh... I'm really fascinated with the psychology of it all, especially surrounding the Holocaust," She continued, cringing because she was certain she was just sounding more weird and geekier than ever. It was true though, she found studying the psychology of the Holocaust fascinating. How could so many people follow a man who deemed a specific people inhuman, and then proceed to exterminate millions of them with the support of a large portion of his country. "I promise I'm not as weird as I'm making it out to be, just a combination of the handsome man and the crashing I've been doing today," The petite girl did her best to play it off, offering a smile to attempt to right whatever wrong she felt she did. "What about you?" She inquired, plucking the schedule from Kenan's hands with a grin.
High5ives High5ives

Her answer was quick, but Kanen could understand why she chose the second World War. It was the birth of Facism, and lead to the rise of Communism, ultimately starting the Cold War. Not the mention the war itself. There was plenty there to study, thought a lot of the topics were dark. Not something you'd want to dive headfirst into late at night. Unsurprisingly, she asked him the same question. "Pax Romana." He said.
Kanen didn't explain I though as he started walking towards her class, leading her. He was curious to see if she'd know what he meant, or if she was just passing these advanced classes by cramming the night before tests were taken. Besides, the Golden Era of the Roman's wasn't really something most history classes covered. You'd have to have a genuine interest of the topic to know anything about it.

Nova followed close next to Kenan as the halls began to fill with flustered students, people crashing into one another in order to get to class on time. It was chaos, and Nova wasn't one for chaos. "In the spirit of honesty, the only things I truly know about Pax Romana is the rise of Cesar and the death of Marcus Aurellius," She shrugged, looking about nervously. One girl almost smacked into her, but she dodged it by pressing slightly into Kenan. Another blush flooded onto her cheeks, although this time she did her best to hide it by not looking up to meet the blue-green eyes of the guy beside her. "History and lit have always been interesting, its science that I struggle with. So I figured I'd get bio and chem out of the way and destroy my GPA all at once." Nova joked, although she was slightly serious. She wasn't looking forward to feeling dumb in her science classes, and was even more nervous for her math classes that awaited her next semester.
High5ives High5ives

Unlike Nova, Kanen didn't have to dodge people as he moved through the hallway. Underclassmen did just about anything the possiblely could to dodge the larger boy. He shrugged as she talked about her science classes. "You just chose the wrong classes. Bio and Chem are both terrible. You would've been better off with Physics a d Genetics.." Kanen said. He liked science, but Bio sucked. Half of the class was just memorizing vocabulary terms. "I'm sure you could find a study hall or something." Kanen said, perking up a little bit. "There's always nerds hanging out in he library." He teased, lightly nudging her with his elbow as they walked down the crowded hallways.

Nova rolled her eyes again, this time slightly embarrassed. She definitely chose the wrong classes, but part of it was just trying to please her father, which sucked even more. She shook it off quickly though, replacing the nerves that showed on her face with sly smirk instead. "Oh I see," She teased, pursing her lips a little, "I've been demoted from 'pretty girl from Seattle' to 'study hall nerd'. Things move fast around here don't they?" Nova smiled and adjusted her jean jacket. The petite brunette absentmindedly hoped that Kenan didn't think she was a library nerd, she wouldn't be caught dead in there in her free time... but she did need a fair amount of time to study for her science classes, and maybe she would be in there more than she would like. "Is there anything I can do to reclaim my former title Mr. Kenan?" Nova jokingly inquired, looking up at him as they approached what looked to be the biology lab.

June
June was startled when Sawyer dragged her over. She honestly thought it was a mistake until she started to rapidly talk about a plan. Which she surprised herself for understand what she was saying. But, she hesitated with a reply.

Helping Grace? She wanted to say no, that she needed to face reality. But she seemed to like Sawyer and Ryan. Therefore, she won’t be doing it for Grace. She would be doing it for Sawyer. “Fine. I’ll help. But, I need you to explain to me why. What happened?” She needed some answers before she jumps into this willingly. “But here’s my number so I can tell you what’s happening and you can tell me.” She added quickly.

Sybil had left the music room with a few quick strides after winking goodbye to Jace and Nova, Sybil had a weird feeling about the new girl but she seemed nice enough for now so she wasn't going to put much stock in her gut feeling for now. She wove her ways through the crowded halls, her mind was on other things like her father and brothers up in Alaska and the trouble Hugo was starting to get in when she wasn't looking when she saw the girl smack into the ground with thud and watched her glasses go flying off in slow motion. "Ah shit.." She hissed and stormed through the crowd, shoving people without a care in the world as she raced after the skidding glasses. "Move ya fuckers, move your feet" She snapped then almost dove to the ground, grabbing them in a dramatic scoop before they could get kicked again. Sybil circled back and grabbed the girl under the arm and hefted her to her feet despite being a few inches shorter. "Here" She pressed the glasses into her palm, "Put these on before you get a panic attack." Sybil knew how much not being able to see freaked some people out, her mother was the same way when she had lost her glasses and slowly her vision during the last year of her life.

Angelina kept feeling around for her glasses, her vision smudges of colour. She heard someone shouting for people to move. She really wished to wear contact lenses, although her eyes seem to swell and itch when she wore them. Before she knew it, someone was grabbing the bottom of her arm and helping her up. She opened her mouth to thank her but felt something being pressed into her palm. Then being told to put them on before she had a panic attack. Putting them on, her vision now perfect as it could be.
"Thank you, so much. I was worried there".

"No problem, my mom had glasses and I always had to make sure she had them." Sybil gave her a small smile as she folded her arms across her chest, "I am an expert glasses chaser so if you ever need my help again just yell for me and I'll wrangle them down." Her own joke made her laugh softly as she pushed some loose strands of hair behind her ear.

Angelina chuckled also, going a little red. She didn't want to spend too long on this topic; glasses wasn't something she liked to discuss. Regardless.
"That won't be necessary, but thank you. I'll let you get on your way; I'm sure you're busy" The young brunette replied whilst recovering her handbag, along with a few spilled contents.

For once, Jim was tapping a door politely instead of pounding or kicking it down like normal.

‘Good evening, Mr. French.’ Jim closed the door behind him, ‘Stuart.’

Martin folded his laptop quickly and was getting up as a polite gesture.

‘Please, please, don’t get up.’

‘How can I help you, Officer?’

‘I hope you won’t mind. . . I was just on my way home from work, so I thought I’d check in on your son a little.’

‘Of course not. . . Actually that’s terribly kind of you,’ Martin said, turning to his son who was sitting up on the hospital bed, ‘Stuart, this is Officer Richards.’

‘You can call me Jim,’ he said to the boy. ‘We’ve met before, you and I.’ Stuart drew a blank. ‘It’s alright. We didn’t meet under the best of circumstances, so it’s probably best if you didn’t remember.’

Martin was having none of it. ‘This is the policeman who saved your life,’ he said, ‘He brought you to the hospital.’

‘Oh, hardly,' Jim chuckled, 'You would have walked yourself if I didn’t show up, wouldn’t you?’

‘Well, Stuart, what do you say?’

The boy looked to his dad and then to the officer. ‘Thanks,’ he said, ‘. . . for saving me and all.’

‘You’re welcome, young man,’ Jim said smiling, ‘I’m glad I found you.’

'And?' Martin said.

'And sorry. . . for the trouble,' the boy said.

‘Please, sit down Officer. . . I insist.’ Martin got out of his chair and dragged it closer to the bedside for Jim, who thanked him. Martin went to stand by the door hugging his work laptop, giving the two some space.

‘You look as good as new,’ Jim said, ‘What’s that you’re reading?’ He snatched up the comic the boy had folded on his lap. ‘The Last Battle, huh? The last battle of whom?’

‘Gaius Rodius,’ Stu said.

‘That’s a funny name.’

‘He’s a Roman general. . . He fights for Caesar against Gaul. But not really, cos he’s like having a change of heart.’

‘So he’s like going against his own boss a bit?’

‘Yeah, kind of.’

'And you think that's OK, for him to betray his boss like that?'

'If there's a good reason, I guess,' Stu suggested.

Jim listened to the boy with interest. He pictured the great Roman dictator, lying at the bottom of the marble steps, daggers sticking out of his back and all, dead at the hands of his rival senators. If the Romans could do away with Julius Caesar, what was stopping him from doing away with Steve West? That's right. Nothing.

‘Anyway, look,’ Jim said, ‘I’ve got you something.’ He took out a little box and handed it to the boy. Stu accepted it reluctantly. It was a sharp-looking watch with a classic leather strap. He gently picked it out of the box, like it was a precious metal. ‘You’ll keep time from now on, won’t you? Come home to your father when you’re supposed to. No late nights alone out on the streets. Be a good son.’

Stu looked at the watch and nodded.

Jim took the boy’s arm and buckled the timepiece to his wrist. The watch was a present for his own son, Alan, who died the week before his birthday. He knew that it would keep this boy safe.

Now Jim was getting teary-eyed. ‘I better get going,' he said, and got out of the chair, and picked up his hat. ‘Listen. You stay out of trouble, and hopefully we’ll never have to see each other again, you hear?’

Mason had never been so happy to have a school day come and gone. Now, all he had to do was get through football, and he'd be done for the day -- and that would have been easy, if it didn't involve Kanen. He was not looking forward to it, but there was no way to avoid it. Sadly. So he found himself in the locker room, changing into an old t-shirt and his sweatpants (again, Mason hated shorts with a burning passion), and headed out to the football field.

Being captain meant he arrived at the field before the others. He was nervous, his thoughts running over how this Kanen thing would go, and he soon found himself pacing. A lot. What the hell kind of senior year was this? All Mason had wanted was to do his football, get good grades, and go to college. That was all. Simple.

Instead, all hell had broken out in the last week. And to end it all, Mason had to deal with Kanen. Just lovely.

The day couldn't have gone by quick enough. Anxious anticipation had made it hard to focus in class, but Kanen made it through the each period nonetheless. Now, it was time for practice, which meant, it was time for Kanen to put Mason back in his place. This wasn't just some try-out anymore. Kanen had something to prove. He wasn't just some drunk idiot, he could out-do anyone on the field. What better way to prove it, than to run right over top the team captain in front of the whole varsity line-up?

He sat in he locker room, lacing up his cleats. Most of his clothing was old, from the beginning of his junior season before everything happened. It would work though, at least for today. Kanen had had to borrow a helmet from one of the other guys. Sure, he could use the school's helmets, but that was a good way to knock yourself out. Most schools like to take the cheap way out when buying sports equipment.

When Kanen made his way out to he field, he locked eyes with Mason. He didn't say word though, only stopping by the coaches momentarily to introduce himself.

As he waited for the other players, for things get started, Kanen could already feel the adrenaline. It was like fire running through his veins. He was ready for this. He wasn't nervous or anything, just excited, like a boxer before a big fight.

June
Turns out she was staying after school. But it was not her choice. One of the girls in her yearbook class was absent and she was in charge of taking pictures of the football players practicing. Therefore, the teacher asked June to do it. But she felt like she was choosen because the teacher didn’t need to hand out a camera.

Her mind was on the plan though, she could maybe convinced her Dad to go where she wanted, but Grace’s mother was another story. They weren’t even that close yet. But maybe June could hone in on her little acting experience and convince them. It was for Sawyer after all and not Grace. She tested the camera, taking pictures of her feet before going to the field. As she did, she saw Mason pacing. She was tempted to head over to say hi, but she felt like invading his practice is too much. Just take pictures. Focus. Whatever focus she could have had was shattered when she saw Kanen enter the field. She tried not to think of the Kanen that had walked away from her when she tried to help. She just worried. Mason and Kanen weren’t on the best of terms. She wondered what would happen to the team.

She raised her camera up and took a quick picture before moving over to another angle.
