Fandom Xenoblade Chronicles 2 PostScript interest check

MythyDW

Five Thousand Club
Hello all! I've an idea that I think could be made Interesting with a good group. The actual interest check will be made in a spoiler so as to keep game spoilers unspoiled for those who want to keep them that way.

The RP would take place after the events of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The world is now mostly a pangeatic continent made of the old titans, surrounded by the cloud sea. With titans no longer the bosom of humanity's life, the people (and nopons) of Mor Ardain, Uraya and Gormott have spread out and settled a small amount land. One would expect unity, but old rivalries sometimes die hard. Life in these cities, while mostly peaceful, still have the old tensions between Mor Ardain and Uraya. Between that, new rivalries arising between cities, roving hostile titans, and growing clans of bandits, the need for protectors and warriors, as well as explorers, is high.

The setting will have become something a bit closer to Steampunk given the time passed, and Core Crystals still exist and work the same - to a point. Not all titans drop crystals, only the alpha titans do. Also, they seem to grow in the ground, and can be unearthed during mining operations.

The players would all have the affinity to bond with a blade (for simplicities sake, characters bond with only one blade) and would do so during the beginning of the RP. What they do would be up to them, but forming an adventure party is always an option.

That's what I have so far! Please drop a message if I have caught your interest and/or you have any questions!

Ooooooooooh. I loved XB2!

Just one question though. How much do we need to write per post? Like a decent sized paragraph at least?

I call it XC2 ;)

But you're about right. I don't have an upper limit, but I myself sometimes struggle with being verbose. So a nice paragraph at least would be best, with that being something that moves the story/conversation in some way. Other posting expectations would be at least one post per GM update (hopefully more if it's a group conversation) that affects you.

Also, how would the whole blade process work? Can we create new ones, or are we just sticking to the ones in-game? If it's the ladder, can we reserve them or is it first come first serve?

Sorry for the bombardment of questions. It's just I've been dying to be in a XC2 roleplay since I finished the game awhile back.

I'd actually rather we create unique OC blades than use any of the rare blades from the game. I have nothing against them mind you.

Also, Rex and others may still be alive. I'm not entirely sure if they are and/or if they'll cameo.

Glad I have your attention though!

I'm interested, but I got a quick question. Will we be rping as our own blades or will someone else?
You'd be playing your driver and blade was my thought. In theory I could play your blades, but that could be a bit much on me in addition to all the NPCs and whatnot.

Yeah I like the idea of playing you driver and blade, but I was thinking maybe we partner up if we get enough people. Playing your driver and blade might limit the driver and blade interactions.

That is true. Though if we don't get enough people, and people would like it, we could try each person plays a driver and someone else's Blade. Could solve that bit.

Heya. I was thinking about joining bit I've only played the game in short bursts at a friend's house. I've looked up some stuff and I understand the synopsis. I hope that's acceptable?

Of course! I'm not requiring you to have finished the game, just warning that story spoilers may happen or get discussed.

I think as long as you understand the core crystals and blades, then it should be fine. Like not too far into the beginning of chapter 2 I think?

Mind if I ask how far you've gotten?

I know about core crystals and blades. I've played parts of the beginning, than I played a little of the mid game. I'm sorry that I'm not being specific. I just kinda played the game whenever I visited my bud and sometimes he was in a different place than when I played last.

That's fine :)

As long as you get the basic concept and don't mind if spoilers happen, then I'll happily welcome you. Heck I'd probably welcome those who don't quite have the Crystals and Blade concept quite down because we could explain it.

Now I'm rambling. I suppose what I'm saying is welcome aboard :D

That's four people, which I believe is going to be my minimum. Before I start the OOC and character thread though, I'd like to ask if you guys would rather play your own blade, or if you'd like to play someone else's blade along with your driver.

I kinda like both ideas, but if I had to pick one, probably having us be a driver and someone else a blade would work the best. Could we create our own blades and let them be controlled by other players?

I'm not sure, because that would require people to play a character not of their own make. If people are okay with that then sure, but if not then it would be you make the blade you want to play and it would be another driver's blade.

I also like the idea of having one person play as a driver and have another play a blade as well.

Just so I'm clear, what I meant was that each player plays both their driver, and another player's blade.

I don't think we have enough yet for people to play just a driver or a blade.

It seems like a lot to have everyone double up. 8 characters but only 4 plays feels a bit weird. But I'm fine with whatever.

The problem with not doubling up means we'd only have two pairs. Which I suppose might not be terrible?

Me playing everyone's blades also lays a lot of pressure on me. But what the players want also matters, so let me know and we can decide as a group

I'd rather double up before making you play as 4 characters plus NPCs. But I think an adventure of two pairs could still be plenty fun and work well enough. But that's where my preference lies.

Alrighty then! Now we wait to see where other people lie between doubling up or just two pair
