Fantasy Hunter-Knights of Avalon [Interest Check] [OPEN]

At the peak of their power, Humanity was within a decade's reach of colonizing the entirety of Terra. The planet, long ago contested by both Humanity and Monsterkind alike, was then under complete human control. After countless centuries of attrition, Monsterkind was banished into the underworld, buried by time and legend. A memory of a time long past.

Yet, in their hubris, Humanity failed to recognize the catalyst to their downfall. Angered by Humanity's lack of regard for fauna and flora, the Black Witch Boelcia vowed vengeance for he fallen Monsterkind. Unanimously ignored by scholars and wizards alike as an empty threat, Humanity did not realize the omen living right under their noses. When they least expected it, it is said that the Black Witch cracked the very earths apart, setting loose the once imprisoned legions of Monsterkind on a violent warpath for revenge. Scattered across distant colonies and ununified, the majority of Humanity was summarily slaughtered. By the time they managed to unite under one banner and establish proper defenses, less than a third of Humanity remained.

With Weak, untrained militaries eroded over the centuries by lack of warfare, humans knew not how to fight these monsters. Presuming monsters to be immortal, efforts were made to infiltrate fallen human cities and recover lost historical texts from ancient times of war in order to learn how to once more defeat them, but these efforts ultimately failed. With no other choice to make, Intercessor Caldor dumped what little resources Humanity had left into the construction of a final stronghold, where humans would isolate themselves from the world, and rebuild their strength to fight the monsters another day. Avalon, as it was called, is the Last City on Terra. Fortified by impenetrable walls and guarded by powerful cannons, the Bureaucracy commissioned academies inside the city for the sole purpose of training Humans to fight Monsters. Hunter-Knights. Elite and agile warriors well-versed in both armed combat as well as magic, these Knights are the ones who will one day take the fight back to the Monsters; ... But another omen crawls in the air. It would seem rumor is being spread that Monsterkind will not simply wait for humans to come out. Will Humanity live peacefully inside their walls? Or will the Monsters find a way in?
