Jisung Roh

Jisung appreciated the fact that Chenglei had always understood him. Knowing when to push and when to pull back. It was part of what made the blonde such a great friend and Jisung felt ever grateful to have him in his life. Matcha was a dear as well, chirping happily as she climbed onto his hand. It made him feel good that the bird actually liked him since he knew animals could be very particular about who they trusted. He still had to find a way to befriend Aubrey's ratlike pet that she let climb all over her but the thing was more likely to chew off his finger than allow itself to be pat.
"There's a sweet bird." He smiled brilliantly when she chirped at Chenglei's coaching to get her to say hello. "Nothing better than a little bird singing to wake you up in the morning." He returned Matcha to her perch with a gentle pat on her feathered head.
As he was picking up his bag to get ready to head off the class Lydia came rushing through the hallway with a stack of books as was typical for her. She shouted her version of a greeting at them which was just yelling out their names. Jisung chuckled and motioned for Chenglei to follow as he ambled over to her locker. As she opened her locker door a girl with long dark hair slammed into it, stumbling back and throwing her arms up to protect herself. A shadow-like hand burst forth from seemingly nowhere, hair trigger reaction. Jisung had heard of the girl with this ability but never actually met her. It was pretty cool seeing her ability in action. It seemed she knew Lydia already, addressing her by name. His little doll like friend had done some socializing it seemed.
It was just as messy as his was yet she seemed to know exactly where everything was. "Hi Lyds, a bit early to already have such a huge reading list isn't it?" He took one of the books from the top of her stack and idly flipped through the pages. The books seemed to be detailing the horrors of dark magic, certainly not a topic he was interested in. But given recent events he could only wonder why Lydia was reading it. He placed the book back before she even really noticed he'd touched it. There was the slamming of a locker door a little ways down, catching his attention. It was Elise- some people in the hall had momentarily stopped their conversations to stare at her. "Elise-" She took off running without even hearing him call out to her, a strange look on her face as she went. What was wrong with her? They had hung out together over the weekend and she seemed completely fine then. Maybe it was wrong to assume there was a problem... but Jisung knew her very well. Well enough to know something was up even without talking to her. Class was starting so he wouldn't have time to go chase after her just yet. He would check on her later. For now he turned back to Lydia, Felicity and Chenglei.
"We should probably get to class right? Man what a drag. I definitely didn't miss this over the summer."
He then extended a hand to Felicity. "We haven't met yet I think. I'm Jisung Roh."

"School Hallway"

Chenglei could only chuckle as Jisung placed Matcha back on his shoulder. "If only said little birdy would sing sweetly-"

He was cut off when he heard someone greeting the seniors by name, blinking in a bit of surprise by the sudden voice. Only to grin again when he realized it was Lydia . . .

With a stack of heavy looking books and a heavy looking backpack.

Nodding at Jisung's gesture to follow Lydia, the amused blonde walked with his friend, and stood besides them. "What a wonderful morning it is! To see not just one but two of my friends on the first day~ Truly Lady Luck has graced me!" Outstretching his hand out like he was about to pour out some poetry, Chenglei smiled like a prince from a fairy tale book.

Once again, the students around them rub their eyes as they saw sparkles coming from the blonde with roses blooming from the floor like a happy aura --- only to disappear when they blinked in disbelief.

"As much as I admire your dedication to reading so much in the dreaded mornings, Jisung is right: So many books already, lovely Ly? Would you like some help with them?" Chenglei raised a brow, reaching over as if he was ready to carrying some of the books she's carrying. He's curious. Especially the reading material itself. Something must have caught her interest to be carrying this many books (and he's not talking about the normal amount of books she usually carry around most of the time.) He noticed that Lydia tended to be dedicated when something catches her interests or when it's important. Like when she tutored him in math. She brought so many books that it amazed him.

Okay, maybe just two textbooks, but that's a lot for Chenglei who hates math.

His thoughts broke when he heard Jisung mumble a name. The dramatic blonde saw who he was staring at, once again, surprised. Matcha squawked, her feathers ruffled. Elise left so quickly! ". . . She is just like a skittish and swift rabbit." He muttered quietly before looking back at the pair before him. He plastered on his grin again, rubbing Matcha's head again.

"Ahhh~ You won't be alone, at least!" Matcha chirped at the same time Chenglei did, calming down and slowly relaxing her feathers as what disturbed her before has left. Enjoying the rubs.

When there was a sudden impact against the other side of her locker door it caused her to jump slightly before she quickly peered around to the other side, her large blue eyes even larger with surprise before the expression melted into a reassuring smile as she saw who had struck her locker unwittingly and was sneaking her own peek at who the metal culprit belonged to. Lydia's smile brightened as she gave a firm nod of acknowledgement to Felicity's request and offered a tiny little giggle as she drew one of the books from her bag and placed it in the jenga tower inside her locker, "I'm good, thanks! How about you?"

The incident was very minimal and Lydia was completely nonchalant about it, pretty much doing exactly as Felicity had requested and pretending that it hadn't happened. The first couple of times Felicity had acted a bit skittish, Lydia had been a bit unsettled by it, but it had come to where she often didn't react at all and at times attempted to casually assuage the situation no matter how small. Of course the bookworm had her own clumsy mishaps at times. Perhaps knocking something over when she was concentrating too hard, or tripping up because she got too into a book. It happened to everyone and there was no sense in making a big deal about it in her mind.

Lydia offered another chipper little smile that was accentuated by a slight wrinkling of her nose as she slightly squinted her eyes before Jisung's voice caught her attention and she glanced over her shoulder a moment before shrugging slightly, "well, I couldn't sleep... and no sense in counting sheep," she paused a moment at her little unintentional rhyme, an expression crossing her doll-like features as though it was her own personal secret before a few little squeaky giggles were urged from her by Chenglei's dramaticism, "oh it's nothing really... I can't read them all the way through all at once! I just like being able to make comparisons," She reached into her bag and retrieved another book, adjusting the placement of her glasses as she read the title and then began putting the book in her locker, pausing in her motions a moment as she looked more steadily at Chenglei, "thank you.... but I don't wanna' be a burden."

The snowy tone of her cheeks reddened very slightly, though she was nearly immediately distracted from whatever had caused the reaction as her ears also caught the sound of the locker slamming a little ways away, her attention first focusing on the girl that had caused the sound and was now fleeing the scene before she glanced to Jisung a moment as he evidently spoke the girl's name. Looking back to her locker, she finished what she had come to do, smiling slightly at Chenglei's comment, though the thought did cross her mind that perhaps there was still good reason to be skittish, this thought only manifested in a faint shudder of her shoulders before she shut her locker door and crouched to collect her books, responding to both Jisung and Chenglei with a timely, "Yep!"

Any actions she was taking to venture away from the lockers and closer to class were disrupted as Jisung held his hand out to Felicity and she covered her face briefly with splayed fingers before she laughed a little in embarrassment, "Oh! I'm sorry, Felicity!!" She shook her head slightly after Jisung introduced himself and gestured towards Chenglei, "and this is Chenglei. This is Felicity... I'm surprised you guys haven't met her before, actually... not really," she laughed a bit nervously and pressed some of the longer strands of her bangs back behind her ear as she looked down at the white toes of her sneakers, "I took an introduction to magic class with her Freshman year and we were paired up because of our abilities."

"Well, first off, Suzume, while it's a pleasure to meet you," Aubrey said, putting a little to much sarcastic emphasis on the word pleasure, "I have absolutly know idea why you expect me you know why you think your name is important." Oh wow, not even five minutes into a conversation Aubrey had already gone an made some bitchy comments. Eh, oh well short girls were meaner cause they were closer to hell, her heels didn't change that. "And as for the circus animal thing, no, they absolutely do not. However, I think it's not as fresh as they claim it is if I'm being honest with you." She glanced up to Casper, giving him a little wink. She liked him, he was cool, especially for a mid range caster. Most of them had egos or just a primal instinct to probe themselves that got on her nerves. The only other level nine she could remember at the moment was some blonde boy she had only a few conversations with in the past, so she didn't really know that well. Anyway, she looked around, Randy following her head movements with some of his own, before she looked back at the two students she was talking to. "Shouldn't we be heading to class?"

Felicity Jirou

With a sigh of relief as Lydia ignored the locker slam like she asked, Felicity spoke with a bit more confidence: “I’m glad to hear you’re alright. As for me, I’m okay enough. I’ve been getting sleepless nights again though. Before you ask, no it’s not because of excess coke or video games or anything like that! It’s just that the whole, uh, incident has me worried again.” It’d been a while since the actual murder had happened. This wasn’t the first time Felicity had lost sleep over it, but this was the most extreme it’d ever been. Honestly she was glad she’d run into Lydia as Felicity couldn’t think of someone she could trust more to talk to about her intentions. But before she could tell Lydia anything about her plan to search for suspects, Felicity had noticed the appearance of two others. Two strangers.

Felicity looked both Jisung and Chenglei up and down with an expressionless face when they’d finished approaching, that expression being a far cry from her initial reaction of unerved. They didn’t look that suspicious per say, They were both rather physically large and imposing though. Felicity began thinking about them being possible suspects, but concluded that would be somewhat unlikely for now, Lydia’s clear association with them made it easier for Felicity to trust them. Trying her best to seem super calm and collected, as to not make Lydia’s friends think she was a weirdo, Felicity nodded in agreement after Lydia had recounted their first meeting. It took Felicity a few seconds to think of something to say next. She was initially going to say her name but Lydia covered that already. It’d be weird to say it again. She didn’t really know what else to say but managed something:
“Uh, it is nice to meet both of you. Also my surname is Jirou. Just in case you wanted to know...cause Lydia didn’t say it, an-and...you told me your surname, so yeah.” Felicity rambled, already losing the composure she wanted to keep. She was never good at introductions.

She then noticed Jisung’s extended hand still out, Felicity realised what he wanted and hurriedly shook his hand with a nervous laugh and an apology, he’d been holding it there for a while now. Probably was not worth it for the flimsy handshake he got. Her fatigue was catching up on her as the awkward interaction went on, the calm front she had put on now starting to visibly break as shown by her lack of eye contact with either of the boys now and an uncomfortable looking facial expression on. She didn’t think she was leaving a very good impression.

“Yeah I think it’s time for class now, r-right Lydia?” Felicity said looking directly at Lydia with a facial expression that said nothing but “help me I’m dying of nerves here”.

Although he did appreciate the help, Casper couldn't help but to feel a bit confused. Sure he knew Aubrey because of the classes they shared together but other than that they barely talked. Well, he guesses now is not the time to question things. Any opportunity for him to walk away from this situation was a good one for him. He took a quick scan over the hallway and it was obvious that classes were about to begin, the thinning of the people in the hallway being the main give away.

He looked back over to the two girls just in time to see Aubrey wink at him, to which he couldn't help but to smile a bit at. "Uh yeah," he agreed. "I only came out here to get my book anyway . . ." he muttered to himself as he glanced down at the book clutched in his hand. Taking a few steps he looked at Suzume. "As much as I would really love to continue this conversation, I've got a class to get to. We all have classes to get to actually." Casper really thinks his flat tone really sold his words there, he should be an actor. Before he could walk off Casper stopped himself - his sister's voice in the back of his mind yelling 'Stop being such a bitch baby and talk to people for once!'- and said to the cheerleader, "Uh, my name is Casper Floyd by the way. Don't call me poindexter."

Jisung Roh

Jisung waited patiently for Felicity to shake his hand, a slight smile on his face that he hoped was disarming. She seemed very uncomfortable with the presence of himself and Chenglei which he assumed was just because she was unfamiliar with them. He couldn't help but to laugh, though not unkindly, as she stumbled over her words. It was endearing if he was honest. Meeting new people was clearly not her strong point. "It's great to finally meet you actually. Heard a lot about what you can do- can I just say it's absolutely bad ass?" Albeit a bit terrifying as well but he wouldn't mention that part. Felicity had gained a reputation for being as dark as her special ability and he was curious to see how much of the rumors held true. Of course he never believed in that gossip nonsense even when Suzume was telling him every little rumor she'd heard. Maybe if she had focused on their relationship more and gossip less they'd still be together...
Those were thoughts for another time though.
He could see Felicity growing more and more uncomfortable by the second. One brief moment of eye contact with Lydia and he understood it was time to move on. Class was starting soon anyways.
"You're right. Let's go." With that the four of them headed down the hall to their first class of the day.
When he got there he rather reluctantly settled into his seat which coincidentally happened to be next to one of the last few people he wanted to see. Otto Greystone. Jisung grimaced as he sat, his stomach turning in knots. It was no secret that quite a few people thought Otto had something to do with Sam's death. It was irrational really, he and Sam had a very public fight once. That didn't mean the guy was guilty of anything. Yet whispers had started up that he had done something to her. A jilted lover seeking revenge? Or perhaps something worse? No one knew their story but Otto and he hadn't spoken a word about the situation since it happened. Jisung awkwardly cleared his throat before mumbling a "Good morning Otto" in the guys general direction.
If he ever wanted to know the truth he'd atleast have to talk to the guy.
He briefly wondered where Elise was. She'd know exactly what to say to Otto to get him to spill.

"Isn't it?" Otto replied. Jisung didn't seem like he was in the mood for a conversation, so Otto refrained from saying anything else. It wasn't much different from what he was used to, so Otto didn't pay it any mind and went back to thinking of how he was going to approach the Sam situation. Eventually, he came to the conclusion that his only real hope in getting more information was to a) try to talk to people for the first time in months or b) hope that Akumu was socially integrated into the school's society. Judging from Akumu's behavior, Otto was thinking about taking the first route. And the best time to start would be now, when it would make sense for everyone to be thinking about what happened.

"I'm sure you've heard about Sam. Crazy, right?" Otto said, breaking the silence between him and Jisung. "Do you think the staff's right about it being an accident?"

"Oh well that's because you are one of them probably!" Suzume responded to Aubrey with not even the slightest change in her perky demeanor. She paused for a moment before seemingly making a mental note to herself by writing in the air and mouthing the phrase 'circus animals not confirmed'. Suzume blinked as she looked towards Casper as he declared what his name was.

"Kaaaaaaaaaaay." she responded with a nod before blinking and glancing around the halls. It appeared the statement they made was true, classes were about to start. "Omygoshohmygosh!" frenetically declared Suzume as she rushed towards her locker, putting in the code and failing a few times before successfully getting it in. She quickly grabbed her things for class and shoving her personal belongings in there haphazardly and rushing towards her classroom.

- Seifer Rathmore -
" Dance Club Room "

An hour after the bell rang, jazz blared from the dance club room, causing nearby birds to take flight and a sleeping cat to wake up and look through the window.

A tall youth with immaculate white hair was tapping his feet to the beat, cutting a rug barefoot in nothing but white pajamas. The cat's tail, twitched, annoyed, as the man swept the floor with flair, boogieing like it was 1983. The cat knew this particular student, he was called Seifer Rathmore, and usually came to school late like today, and instead of going to class like the other students, came here to dance or practice archery in the range. It squinted its slit golden eyes at the smooth figure.

Seifer was admiring his body in the morning sun, the way his graceful lean form patterned with tattoos twisted and turned, "I could kiss myself. So pretty." he smiled. His hair gracefully fell across stormy grey eyes, as sweat pooled on his collarbones. A look of satisfaction came across his features, the look of a man happy with his art.

The cat stood up to sleep in a much quieter spot, it's hips swaying a bit from the beat. It did not understand why, but looking at that particular student always made its body want to dance along too.

Seifer raised his arms to the sky, stretching when the song ended. He went over to his phone sitting on a coffee table next to magically amplified speakers, and swiped across the screen to change into a more meditative tune as he did his morning stretches.

He was a pretty rich boy, whose father handsomely donates to the school monthly in return for his son's success in all things scholastic. This meant Seifer didn't need to try, he could do whatever he want, and he would always pass a class . . . it was okay, but boring. Though recently something not boring had happened in the school, the death of a girl named Sam. It had caused quite a stir and frankly he was a bit bothered that someone who had died had suddenly become more popular than beautiful him; he dropped, doing the kapotasana yoga pose. And he thought, that if he was going to become popular again, he ought to get to the bottom of this murder, find out who did it so that everyone would stop talking about it and start paying attention to him again.

And then he felt lazy. "Perhaps after lunch." he thought aloud to himself, then stood up to switch to a more cheerful music and dance again.

As Suzume rushed off Casper looked at Aubrey and gave the girl a small smile. "Thanks for that." was all he said before he rushed off down the hallway to his class. Getting his book wasn't nearly supposed to take as much time as it did and it annoyed him beyond belief, but no use in complaining now.

Less than a minute later he made it to his class, and much to his relief nobody had taken his seat. Even if his bag was sitting in his chair he still worried about somebody taking his spot. He wouldn't be surprised if it did, it's happened before. Casper made his way to his seat and sat down with a sigh leaving his mouth. Opening up his book, he adjusted his glasses and began reading in hopes to pass the time before class started.

Well, he tried to at least.

His thoughts were far too scattered - or focused on the wrong things - for him to even focus on the words on the book which resulted in him having to re-read the same paragraph over and over again in the span of a minute. It brought an annoyed scowl on his face, one that was slightly different from the natural one he usually wore. This was already a sign of how fucked his day was going to be, he could tell already.

20180830_051040.jpg - Chenglei Zhou -

"Hello! My name is Chenglei. It's nice to meet you." The blonde introduced himself to Felicity, raising a brow when he noticed how quickly this girl is getting uncomfortable around them (not around Lydia, it seems, but Jisung and himself). He wondered if perhaps she's not used to social gatherings like this? As soon the bell rang, alarming the students for class, he grinned.

"Ah! I have Study period first!" Chenglei piped up, smiling cheeringly as he took out a piece of folded paper; it was his class schedule. At the top for that day was study period.

"Have a fabulous day in class today, everyone~" After a dramatic sweep of his blonde hair and a tweet from his bird, the tall student practically skipped in the hallways. The rest of the student body stared incredulously at him as swirling flowers with glitter followed behind him . . . and they wondered if lightening really is Chenglei's ability after rubbing away the weird sparkly aura.

As the hallways get less crowded with students, the calmer Chenglei's walk is. His footsteps barely made a sound, reaching the library where he silently greeted the librarian in charge with a charming smile; he had to bow his head to not bump on the door frame. Then he walked over to the Mythology section, searching for a specific word or phrase---

"Oh! Here it is." Placing a finger on top of the binding, he pulled the book out and dusted it to see the title better.

"Greek myths and gods: Classical . . . Okay." Not questioning the 'classical' part of the title, Chenglei went to sit on one of the empty tables, opened the book and tried to find a familiar word, taking his satchel bag off and hooked on the back part of his chair. One of his hands stayed on the book, turning pages while the other helped Matcha down from his shoulder and let her walk around. His ash purple eyes looked up from the book to make sure she was behaving before looking back down: Matcha was bobbing her head, following the ticking noise of the clock that's by the librarian's desk.

That's when he found it. The name.

"Hecate: Goddess of Magic, Witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts, and necromancy." And so, he begun to read more on the goddess. He looked for this book because he remembered that this school's name is related to this Greek Goddess. It's a fitting name to begin with for this school, since everyone here have magical abilities . . . However, he wondered if maybe, just maybe, Sam might have gotten herself in trouble before she died a month ago.

It's a far cry to the truth, Chenglei can admit that, but still . . . possibilities are endless in this school of magic.

Felicity Jirou

As pressuring and unfamiliar as the whole situation was with Lydia’s friends, the comment about her ability helped Felicity ease up a bit, even if all she ended up doing was smiling and blushing faintly at Jisung’s words with nothing more than a meek “Thanks” escaping her lips. That was nice to hear, she also thought her ability was bad ass. Perhaps she’d really show it off later if the opportunity presented itself. Not right now though.

It didn’t take much longer for the four of them to start moving to class, Felicity had been buried in the piece of paper that had her timetable printed on it. It had been folded so many times that some of the words had become disfigured by the creases and she had to squint to read them. Eventually she managed to make out the room number on the sheet, by the time she’d looked up again, both Jisung and Chenglei has already gone. That was quick. Upon creating a route to the maths classroom in her head, Felicity made eye contact with Lydia again, “So, uh, I’ll see you later Lydia. Have fun in whatever you’re doing now, I guess. ” She said with a wave and a tired smile. Felicity turned her back on her light manipulating friend and began to follow the aforementioned mental route, still looking for suspicious faces of potential suspects in the corridor as she walked hurriedly along.

Felicity arrived to maths shortly after, she sat at the back of classroom (as usual) and got all her things out. As she did this her drowsiness really began to take a toll, her eyes rolled over to the clock above the door of the room. She definitely had a few minutes before class actually started. “It’s...Just a few minutes.” She said to herself quietly, unable to fight off the heavy feeling in her eyes. Felicity rested her head, face down, onto the desk she was sat at, her face on her arms and covered by her now sprawling hair. Despite the nerves of potentially being in the same room as a supposed killer, she couldn’t fight off the tiredness this early in the morning. She dozed off into a state of unresponsiveness, though alert enough to respond to any loud noises like the teacher coming in and starting the lesson.

Those big blue eyes narrowed slightly behind her rectangular frames as she watched Felicity for a moment, unconvinced, but as her friend continued with her explanation as to why she had been having sleepless nights, Lydia nodded in understanding. Of course Felicity was likely aware of the fact that Lydia often had wakeful nights as well, though hers were less due to binging junk food and video games than it was to her insatiable thirst for knowledge... or maybe it was just a general curiousity. Of course she couldn't fault Felicity for having trouble sleeping considering what was causing her sleeplessness, Lydia was living under the same restlessness over what had happened to Sam.

As the introductions opened and closed, Lydia only watched silently, a soft smile on her lips which warmed as Felicity once again addressed her and she nodded hurriedly as if prompted by the expression on her friend's face. Following Jisung's lead as he began to venture away from the lockers and in the direction of the classes. A soft and disappointed sigh escaped her as Chenglei announced his first class, "lucky! I could get so much done if I had study first!" She pouted her lower lip out slightly as she grumbled, but the sight of Chenglei sauntering away majestically caused her to mistakenly stifle a giggle as a snort which she quickly tried to hide by clapping a cupped palm over her mouth and smiling in embarrassment.

A quick wave had been given to Jisung as he went to his own class before her eye steadied on Felicity as the girl continuously scanned her time table. It made her smile slightly before feeling a bit awkward that she had completely memorized her schedule for the semester and was rather excited for every single class she had, though she was entirely envious of the study period Chenglei had been so fortunate to acquire, then again she supposed that was because of his high level in casting. She just had to work harder and catch up! With an oddly determined look on her face she was called out of her thoughts as Felicity again spoke and she smiled distractedly, "O-oh... yeah! You too!" She returned the wave before she hurried off to her own classroom, just in time to see a familiar, pink hair individual enter the room.

Casper was already sitting down when she entered the class and she hurried to sit beside him just as the second bell rang, the sound of her heavy bag noisily thumping against the floor beside her desk as she removed it from her torso, the weight coming off of her nearly visible as her slightly slouched posture straightened and she let out a relieved sigh before turning towards her neighbor to offer a little wave, her slender fingers splayed. However, upon seeing the expression on his face, she thought better of it and her small fingers slowly curled in towards her palm as her lips pressed together, forming her mouth into a line, the sunny smile she had been prepared to offer him despite the slight bags under her blue eyes vanishing relatively quickly as she then leaned down to her bag and pulled out the necessary items for the class, leaving the bag open just in case she needed anything additional.

"Her face twisted and Her eyebrow twitched. "One of them? What the hellos that supposed to mean?" She questioned, her friendliness being taken over by obvious hostility. One of them? One of them? Seriously, what the he'll was that supposed to mean anyway?! She just kinda watched, defeated as the girl ran off, eyebrow still twitching before Casper spoke up. She sighed, "Yeah, no problem man, she seems like a real pain in the ass," Aubrey replied, "I'll see ya later then," She told him, giving him a slight smile as they went their operate ways. She had, oh, wait a second. Aubrey pulled her phone out, quickly scanning her schedule. "Alright then, Study. So, to the libaray I guess," Aubrey muttered, weaving her way through the hall once more on her way to the library. Honestly, Aubrey hated the fact her first class was Study. What the hell for? I mean, come on, she was one of her higher level casters on campus, why would she need to study? And what did she even want to study anyway? With a sigh, She entered the library. Not many students would be walking around at this time, but most of the tables has kids already at them. And so she could browse for a moment in peace, Aubrey let Randy climb off her shoulder and claim a spit at a stable with a blonde boy and a little green bird. Aubrey would then wander into the section if the library with older books, mostly mythology and witchcraft, picking up a few random books (One of which was even in latin) before sitting down. It was only then she recognized the boy. "Oh hey! You're the other level nine, right?"

Matcha quickly ran across the table when she saw Randy climb off Aubrey's shoulder; her little talons making a clicking sound from hitting the wood. She hopped on the book he's reading and without missing a beat, Chenglei gently picked her up in his hand and just held her there. Her feathers puffed up as she trilled warily.

He didn't look up until he heard a young lady's voice addressing him, tilting his head a bit from her question. A lightbulb lit up in his brain as he remembered her from a class last semester. They didn't talk much, only helpful tips and advice to help improve their control over their abilities since they were kind of similar. What with her fire and his lightening, elements that are not meant to be controlled in the first place.

"Oh! Why yes, I am!" Chenglei smiled charmingly, reminiscent to a puppy.

"I am surprised that a beautiful rose such as yourself would remember a silly being such as myself. We chatted together before, haven't we?" He doesn't like to brag nor would he care about being a level nine student. It's not fun if that's all he cared about. Though from the way she formed her question, the taller blonde guessed she's a high level student as well.

"Ah, where are my manners? My name is Chenglei Zhou," He raised his hand a bit, showing off his green puffy bird who's staring at her with beady dark eyes. "and this is Matcha. Say hi, Matcha. Say hi."

Matcha just flapped her wings and shuffled out of his hand to sit by his shoulder, trilling quietly again. Chenglei sighs, lowering his arm. "That's not nice, Matcha. Sorry about that. She's a bit shy with new people." More like wary as the bird tried to hide in his styled wild blonde hair, still staring at Aubrey and her ferret companion.

Casper had been concentrating on the words of his page so intensely that he didn't even register Lydia sitting don beside him. It wasn't until he finally got fed up with his lack of comprehension of the words at this moment that his gaze turned into a glare at his book. He quickly closed it with a huff and sat back in his chair a bit. Taking off his glasses, he ran a hand over his face. It wasn't until then that he realized how tired her was. Today really was an off day for him, huh?

Much to his surprise out of the corner of his eye he saw familiar black hair and blue eyes. "Lydia," he trailed off as he turned to look at her, a small squint in his eyes since his glasses weren't occupying is face. "Hey," he greeted. "What's up?" A small smile made its way to his face. He noticed how she was getting class materials out and it quickly dawned on him that he should do the same. He pulled his bag from off the ground and into his lap, he took out the things necessary and shoved his book in the bag with an annoyed glare. Without even looking up from his bag he asked, "Is it just me or does everything just feel a bit off to you?"

"I don't know why but things just don't feel right to me," he wondered with a shake of his head as he zips his bag closed. Maybe he was just having an off day but he couldn't help but to feel like there was more to it. Casper has a sneaking suspicion that the whole Sam thing was having more of an effect on him than he realized.

She smiled, "Flattery will only get you so far." Great, this was wonderful, she didn't have to sit here alone for an hour. "Anyway, I remeber you because we're the only level nines in the whole school, student wise at least. Makes you stand out bit, no? And yes, we have. Not much though." As she spoke, Randy would be trying to sneak around on the table, trying to take a pencil or pen, maybe even on of the boys books. Cor the moment, Aubrey ignored him. "Well, Chenglei, my name is Aubrey Flynn, it's a pleasure to meet you. And Matcha as well, what a cuite!" Aubrey said with a smile, through as the little bird looked a bit irritated, she didn't reach out to it. Aubrey wasn't in the mood for getting bit. "It's alright, I wish-Randy!" The ferret stopped in its tracks, a pencil in his mouth, trying to drag it back to Aubrey. "Drop it mister," Aubrey stated firmly, watching the ferret slowly open his mouth, letting the pencil drop back on the table. After tgat, Aubrey picked him up, putting him onto the small stack of books she didn't have open at the moment. "Stay there," She said, pointing at him, all while glaring. When she looked back at Chenglei, She smiled. "Sorry about that, he's a little thief."

Beginning Of Lunch
Hecate Academy's Cafeteria
12 a.m.

Classes flew by in a flash and soon lunch was here. Nothing suspicious had happened that day. Not yet, at least. It was a few minutes into lunch, there was a few people running late, but most everyone was in the cafeteria by now. Everyone was sitting down and chatting until they were interrupted by a loud sound. Someone had set off some colored smoke bomb in the middle of the cafeteria. It wouldn't be odd, people pull pranks like this all the time. But it was odd. Why? Most of the students at Hecate's Academy wouldn't have noticed, but if you had still been suspicious from the event earlier, have been a a really attentive or paranoid person you would have seen it, a message written in the smoke saying "I'm still here. Come and find me if you dare." Most people waved it off, but ended up ignoring it. That was except a single male student who walked into the cloud only to collapse a moment Later.

"Cafeteria"

Seifer was uncommonly sitting in front of a cafeteria lunch tray looking at a tofu hotdog he swore moved, and which he promptly karate chopped, a glass of water, slices of papaya with a bit of salt and fried eggplant. He speared a piece of papaya, sighed, and then pushed the rest away.

His lackeys and fangirls were also staring dismally at their lunch. "Seifey-poo, your butler reeeally can't make it today?" asked one of the girls, a beautiful, but snobby looking cheerleader with twirly eyebrows and a voice so high-pitched it was like listening to nails raking a chalkboard sometimes.

"Yes, Pansy, he's stuck in traffic." said Seifer, flipping open his phone to read again the last message he got. Seifer doesn't eat cafeteria food, which isn't real food, but today was just one of those days.

"What we do?" grunted a dull looking croney at Seifer. He had a sloping forehead, thick monobrows, and big arms that reminded one of cave men or gorillas. "Grug hungry."

"Hmm . . . don't worry girls and boys, I'm sure there would be someone here who would be happy to give up their lunch for us." he smirked. They smirked with him. They liked seeing Seifer bully the first years, they were so small.

"Come on." he gestured, spotting a lone boy with red hair and glasses sitting with just three other students. He had a delicious looking bento lunch with rabbit cut apples.

Students wisely stepped out of their way, avoiding eye contact, as Seifer strutted forward as if he owned the place. Suddenly smoke erupted before him with a boom. His lackeys stumbled back, but he kept his cool. He chuckled, looking around the cafeteria, his arms open. "Haha! Whoever did that, you miss ---"

"Grug!" yelled one of his lackeys.

Seifer turned to see his caveman-like croney collapsed on the floor. He gaped. "No, don't go in." he commanded, flinging an arm to block his other lackeys from approaching. He never noticed the smoky words hanging above him. "How did he get there, the dolt, he was behind me --- Hey, anyone in the cafeteria with wind spells, come blow all this smoke away, I'll treat you." he flashed his infamous golden credit card stamped with the Rathmore crest.

Akumu was sitting at one of thew few. Tables with no one at it. She was eating her lunch (rice and nori flakes) and looking through her many many notes on September. Nothing, Nothing, Nothing and..... Still nothing! For once in her life her odd ability to gather information had failed her. Suddenly there was a boom and smoke, very bright colored smoke.

Looking closer at the smoke she nearly swore. One, there was a secret message, and Two someone had fainted from walking through the smoke. Oh and 'Mr. Rich Bully' actually thought that blowing away would help. No, that would probably actually make it worse.

Akumu cast a wind spell, making wind blow through the room. It swirled around generally not affecting anyone, minus making a water bottle spill on Seifer and collecting all of the smoke in a small whirlwind.

As Casper said her name, she looked up from what she was doing, her black plastic frames having slid to the tip of her slender nose, causing her wide blue eyes to peer over the tops of them as she made a caught-off-guard expression. The look softened into a smile as she sat upright and put her notepad and pencil down on her desk next to her book and pressed her glasses up on the bridge of her nose, "oh... this and that... the way you were scowling at that book, one would think it said something foul about your mother," her tone delivered her words jokingly, a soft smile still on her lips as she checked her pencil to make sure it was sufficiently sharp, it was an old fashioned wood pencil since Lydia was a bit old fashioned and preferred them to the mechanical ones. She paused a moment as she looked at the writing utensil's tip once Casper spoke again, looking straight ahead of her as she considered her words before in a hushed tone, "no... everything feels off... it has felt off for a while now."

After turning a meaningful glance his way, their conversation was cut short by their teacher beginning her lesson.

While Lydia would have loved to spend her entire lunch in the library and Mrs. Ativan was generally pretty lenient, she also wasn't keen on allowing students to have their lunches there. This left the bookworm in a rather frazzled state as she felt rushed to hurry and finish her meal. She had quickly collected her brown bag lunch from her locker and raced down the hall to the cafeteria, her slender form a blur of flowing black accompanied by the swift motion of her legs that made them appear more like sea snakes rather than limbs.

Her arrival in the lunchroom was marked by the sudden plume of smoke that had erupted. The noise that had come with the appearance of the smoke caused her to skid to a halt with surprise, her round eyes shifting around to see if she could spy what had caused the colorful disruption as she stood in the doorway she had chosen to enter by.

It had seemed that there was no culprit in sight, though that did not mean that there wasn't one present and despite the fact that her round face was now free of glasses, her farsight was not diminished by the lack of their presence. The words that materialized in the colorful cloud had not been missed by her, though her reaction to the spectacle was not immediate as she simply stood where she had been, a concentrated look on her expressive features as she stared as though trying to discern if she had actually seen the words or if it had just been her imagination.

Of course any effort of contemplation she had been making was disrupted by the sudden realization of those nearest the smoke that there were a few students that had been incapacitated and following that occurrence she recognized the voice that had just issued a directive accompanied by a bribe. Not really thinking about it, she climbed up on a table and tacked onto Seifer's declaration, "in the meantime, until this smoke is cleared and the faculty and staff investigate the cause, I suggest we all evacuate the cafeteria!" She had set her lunch bag down before she stood and cupped her hands around her mouth to increase the volume and range of her voice as she spoke clearly and authoritatively, a certain sharpness as she mentioned those that were in charge of running the academy.

Shortly after that, Akumu cast her spell, Lydia's own dress whipping up slightly in the wind and causing her to crouch on the table to hold it down, her cheeks turning round as she retained her composure when the water spilled on Seifer. She glanced towards Akumu with a sort of mixed expression on her face before she slipped from the table and started trying to get the other students to stop standing around gawking and start heading for the exits, using the idea that it would be safer for everyone if they didn't just loiter around.

"Lunch"

Chenglei chuckled. "Yes, you do have a point."

"It's a pleasure to meet you too, Aubrey- Hm?" The taller blonde looked to where Randy was, grinning from the funny slow reaction the ferret did while dropping the pencil. Looking back at the young lady in front of him, Chenglei waved his hand nonchalantly. Obviously not taking the thieving ferret's actions seriously.

"It's quite alright. He's a lot better then what Matcha does in the mornings." He peeked at his wary bird, raising a brow. "She likes to crow way too early in the morn and she sounds like a truck is honking in traffic." He chuckled again, reaching over to Matcha to gently rub on her green head and she trilled.

"If I try to go back to sleep, she'll just continue to crow until I get off of bed."

The tall blonde offered if she wanted to talk about how crazy and silly their pets can be, letting her know that Matcha is quite picky with whom picks her up or tries to touch her. His green little bird didn't walk off his shoulder but she seemed to relax her feathers. Even dared to bob her head a bit. When he heard the class bell ring, letting every student know it's time for the next class, Chenglei opened the door for Aubrey and politely said "May you have a wonderful day, Lovely Aubrey~ You too, Funny Randy."

Then he sauntered away in the slowly crowded hallways with Matcha whistling.

----------

Nothing seemed unusual so far --- well other than practically everyone going on their merry way and not care about the murder.

Chenglei sighed, moving his lunch around as the people who's sitting with him continued to chat without him. He was really bothered about that small fact; that barely anyone is sad about her death. He understood more if no one talked because they were sad or not ready to talk about it like Jisung; but to continue on the day like Sam's death never happened.

'Perhaps . . . Perhaps I'm overthinking it. Perhaps everyone else is acting like that because they feel uncomfortable too.' He thought, staring at the tofu chicken and steamed veggies on his paper plate. It wouldn't be the first time that he overthought things.

He heard Matcha's wings flapping and her tiny talons clinking on the table as she got close to his lunch. Only to peak at the tofu chicken.

"Ah! No, Matcha. That's not-"

Suddenly a loud sound of a bomb exploded, scaring his little bird who squawked and her owner who covered her with his arms; looking over his shoulder to see a plume of colored smoke coming from one spot. Then his breathe hitched, eyes widened in shock and disbelief at seeing words in smoke.

"Wh-what in the world?!" He didn't move from his spot in fear that Matcha might inhale the smoke, not really trusting it. His distrust grew when one of the more popular and mean-spirited white-haired teen bribes someone to blow the smoke away after one of his friends fell down.

"Chenglei, did you do that?" A girl from his table asked, sounding a bit panicked and the blonde shook his head. "No, I didn't. I was facing Josh this entire time. I wouldn't have thrown that without him noticing me."

Chenglei stood up, perking at hearing Lydia's voice telling the other students to leave the cafeteria, and turned his head around to find her. Spotting her from the crowd, the blonde ushered the people from his table to start heading out.

"It's best to stay safe. Come on." He did the same for the confused freshmen and a few of the sophomores. As the wind spell blew, collecting the plumed smoke into one area, the blonde stood close to the other exit of the cafeteria, making sure that everyone is cleared from the room. Frowning in concern of what that smoke contained to cause one student to fall down that suddenly.

". . . This is not right." He muttered. "Not right at all . . ."

"Ah, our lunch has escaped." he said wistfully, as students began to follow Lydia's suggestion. "You lot go ahead and secure our escaping lunches, I'll take Grug to the nurse's office, then meet you all on the roof." he told his lackeys, and off they went trailing first-years, passing Chenglei by the door. Some of them smiled or nodded in greeting at him. They knew he was in the same dance club as Seifer and was respected by their leader for his skill, and whoever Seifer respected they respected.

Seifer smiled when a student answered his call and the smoke was swirled up. "Oops." He caught a falling water bottle before it could stain his expensive shoes. He looked up to see Lydia crouching on the table --- then immediately turned away, his ears red.

"What the hey, Lydia?!" he gestured with a hand. In other circumstances, he would be glad for a chance to see a pretty lady's knickers, but not the ones of his only real friend. That was just weird.

"The wind could've blown up your skirt and I would've seen your knickers! You know how traumatized I would be?" he scoffed, as he watched her start getting students out of the cafeteria.

He remembered he had a person to treat, and glanced around to see who had whirled the wind and saw a short girl with long lavender hair, purple eyes. She had a sort of sad look about her and it piqued Seifer's interest. He looked at her with a trying-to-figure-you-out expression.

He strode forward to nudge Grug with a foot. "Hey, wake up." When he didn't, he started to shake his shoulders.

Jisung Roh

He looked over at Otto with a blank stare when the guy started talking about Sam's death as if it were the most casual topic of discussion ever. Of course he'd heard about Sam - she was his friend after all. Otto didn't seem to know or care and yet he didn't seem malicious at all. Just genuinely curious as to what Jisung thought about it. There was no question that it wasn't an accident. Tragedy was probably the better word for it if they wanted to get technical. But that didn't quite fit either.
"I'll say this... there's probably much more to the story than the school and police are letting on." He spoke in a hushed tone in case anyone else might be listening to their conversation. He got the feeling Otto thought there was more too it as well. Jisung was burning to ask the obvious question - was Otto involved in any way? The timing didn't seem right yet. Maybe in a more private setting he'd get Otto alone and find out exactly what the younger male knew. Looking at him now it made Jisung really wonder how and why Sam got involved with this kid. What exactly was their relationship about? They wouldn't have time to discuss any further as the teacher walked in and promptly began class, as if nothing had ever happened. Jisung sat back in his seat ready to be frustrated by a long boring day of classes.

---------------------------------

After enduring a mind-numbingly boring math lesson Jisung felt the lunch break was well deserved. His brain was fried and all he wanted to do at the moment was eat himself into a food coma. He made his way to the cafeteria and waited in line along with everyone else, selecting a grease saturated slice of pepperoni pizza and fries for his meal. He played so many sports and did so much physical activity that he could afford to eat absolute garbage and still keep his fit physique - something he prided himself on actually. Jisung looked around the cafeteria for some of his usual lunch partners. Elise was still nowhere to be seen and he was growing increasingly worried about his friend. He did however spot some of his team mates so decided to go an eat with them. Just as he was setting his tray down there was a loud boom followed by a great gout of smoke. Everyone's heads whipped towards the center of the cafeteria to see what the fuss was about, Jisung included. At the center of the smoke was a very ominous message and there was no question about what it referred to. Jisung's blood ran cold at the thought that Sam's death was indeed a murder and whoever did it was still among them. The message was taunting for sure and it made him get angry all over again. If the staff wouldn't look for the killer then by god Jisung would. Eventually.... He foolishly realized he had no idea of how to track a killer let alone one well versed in the usage of magic. The task would be far too daunting for him alone. He would need help. Luckily for him he had smart friends. Chenglei and Lydia immediately came to mind. Casper might help if Lydia convinced him. Elise was far too lazy but Jisung was sure he could rope her in somehow.
With his mind set on that Jisung made his way over to where Seifer was shouting and waving about his gold card. His friends were already trying to direct the younger students out of the cafeteria before the staff arrived, further showing their reliability and maturity. Akumu had already cast a wind spell to clear the air and Jisung nodded his head at her in acknowledgement before approaching Seifer and Lydia. Lydia was blushing while holding her dress and Seifer seemed dramatically appalled. Jisung only managed to catch the tail end of their conversation and assumed Seifer was talking about the smoke bomb and his incapacitated friend.
"Traumatized? I'm pretty sure he's just knocked out. He'll be fine." Seifer then bent down and began to shake the unconscious boy and Jisung reached out to stop him before he accidentally hurt the guy. "Ok- you probably shouldn't shake him like that. Jeez Seifer."
