The six of you walk into the large, circular conference room. The walls are white with a peach-colored border, and the front of the room has a giant projection screen hanging from the ceiling. There are many people in the room, from scientists to biologists to researchers to soldiers. Some are already sitting in their seats, anticipating, while others are standing around the oval-shaped room mingling, excited, curious, and many other things about the project they are now in. An intercom noise sounds above, and announces for everyone to please sit. You and everyone else in the conference area quickly sit in any empty seat, while the lights dim. The projection screen lights up the board and the podium, as a lanky man in a lab-coat and wearing glasses walks up to it. As he faces the crowd and adjusts his glasses, he begins talking. "Welcome, everyone. As you all know, your here today because you were drafted, volunteered or assigned to this project, because you were viewed as some of the best candidates. The project itself broken down to a sentence, is to explore and research this land mass in the pacific," the projection changes from white to a collage of far-away shots of an island in a sea of blue. "-code-named, The Forbidden Island. I know, very ominous, but the reason for such a name, and consequentially, all of you?" The slide changes once more, showing graphs and some machinery readings. "We have gotten readings of flora and fauna, even radiation, that is nothing we have ever seen before. Your mission, depending on who you are, will always boil down to investigating the strange readings from this island, and seeing if the U.S. could benefit from it. Thank You, thats all for now. I'll be coming around to answer any questions, then the helicopters should be ready for lift off. Thank you."

(Your first post should be the character entering, sitting, and reacting to the briefing. From there, I'll individually have characters interact with them, before the liftoff happens.)

Siren, we are going to be late to the meeting if we don’t hurry. A young man with shaggy blonde hair darted down the halls of the facility, and a small bot followed closely behind him. “Thanks for the update Crescent but if it hadn’t been for you we would’ve been on time. I had to make sure the heli’s were in top condition before liftoff and I specifically told you to alert me ten minute before the meeting so we could be there in time.” Crescent gave an irritated beep as it glared at its creator. Hey wise guy, you’re the one that told me to ‘shut the hell up’ when I was trying to alert you. I thought you knew what you were doing so I desisted. “Alright well even still, you should’ve realized I have a lack of coordination when it comes to time.”

Despite the pairs late arrival it didn’t appear that anything had happened quite yet. Everyone was sat down but it didn’t appear that the head of the project had spoken yet. Stowing away to the back row, Siren sat down and began looking around as he waited for the presentation to begin. Soon enough the doctor was to come on stage and give the run down on everything. Fortunately, the young engineer had been give this talk several times over when he was “recruited” from his old residence. That being said he didn’t feel it was all that important to pay attention. Although considering there was nothing else for him to do he atleast pretended he was listening on. Eventually the meeting came to a close and Siren quickly rose from his seat and started for the door. “C’mon, we need to head back and finish up before take off. I don’t want anything going wrong.” You are one paranoid bastard you know that right?

Kypher William Hawthorne
(Conference Room)

Kypher had actually been one of the first to arrive. Serving years in the army taught a man to learn to be punctual or suffer greatly at the hand of his superiors. Now it was something ingrained into his consciousness, contrasted with his somewhat laid back nature. Sure, he liked things done and done right, but Kypher wasn't about forcing things to happen too quickly either. 'A time and a place' was what he abided by. Infinite opportunity, infinite danger, infinite excitement - at least in his life anyway. It was actually quite fortunate for him, as he had nearly missed his invitation to today's meeting having been on his way to his next job. Of course he had accepted this one despite currently being contracted: this was an incredible opportunity, something that could get even him fired up. Explore the unexplored? The abilities of one of the most skilled navigators in the world was required? He had to concede that his interest was piqued.

And so here he was, surrounded by people he didn't know and listening to foreboding words of a land that definitely sounded like it would kill them all rather quickly. Previously unregistered fauna and flora? Not to mention the somehow downplayed presence of deadly radiation. Did they really expect them to come back alive with all this danger about, never mind about coming back with results. The blonde haired man sighed and sparked his cigarette, placing it coolly to his lips and leaning his head back now that the conference was apparently over. Kypher did indeed have some very pressing questions, but he wanted to wait for a moment to allow things to settle. As he had always followed: a time and a place.

Jamie Farrow (Conference Room)
Jamie gave her backpack straps a tug out of habit and headed towards the first empty seat she could find in the room. The announcement had just sounded and around her, people from different sorts of profession settled down as the room darkened. Before she could take a good look at all the fresh faces nearby, a scientist stepped onto the podium and began to speak. Jamie found her attention drawn to the projections on the board, displaying a seemingly normal - yet unfamiliar island.

The man continued to explain the strange features of the island, but Jamie could tell that even he did not know exactly what the mysterious island contained. A mixture of both fear and excitement stirred in her, and she felt her spark of curiosity spring to life again. It had been a while since she had felt this way, ever since her long, boring journey of obtaining a diving certification. She recalled her days spent sitting indoors, studying for safety tests and all those dull assessments done in standard pools.

But all that probably paid off, since without her certificate she would never have been able to join this project. Jamie was definitely eager to explore new places once again, and even more keen to get back into diving.

"Where do we find these helicopters?" She asked those closest to her, as soon as the man stopped talking.
