Fandom Overwatch- A New Age(Rp)

(Sorry guys it’s been a while, i’m going to quickfire some of what Kimiko has been doing as I just wrote a full 8 paragraph long response then accidentally reloaded the page and deleted it. I don’t have the energy to retype ugh)

When asked about names, Kimiko responded that her name really was Kimiko, a name chosen by her creators. She doesn’t remember her real name or know if she even has one.

She remained very passive through the whole ordeal with Lucia, as she interpreted the shooting as a favour, since Lucia had asked. She was unaware of why everyone seemed so upset. She was built as a human weapon, so she has barely any understanding of morals or humanity.

~

Kimiko had a completely different reaction to Blue, however. When he began to show signs of panic, she did the only thing she knew how to do.
She sat cross legged in front of him and took his hands, which made her wince, but he had touched her to provide comfort, so she assumed she was to do the same.
She slowly began to sing him a lullaby. She knew not where the lullaby was from or how she came to know it, only that she would sing it to herself when she was feeling this way in the lab.
Mori mo iyagaru bon kara saki nya
Yuki mo chiratsukushi ko mo naku shi,
Bon ga kita tote nani ureshikaro
Katabira wa nashi obi wa nashi,
Kono ko you naku mori wo baijiru
Mori mo ichinichi yaseru yara,
Hayo mo yukita ya kono zaisho koete
Mukou ni mieru wa oya no uchi
Mukou ni mieru wa oya no uchi

(Translation:
I would hate baby-sitting beyond Bon Festival,
The snow begins to fall, and the baby cries.
How can I be happy even when Bon Festival is here?
I don't have nice clothes or a sash to wear.
This child continues to cry and is mean to me.
Every day I grow thinner.
I would quickly depart here and go back.
In the distance, I can see my parents' home.
In the distance, I can see my parents' home.)

She looked up to his face when she was finished, hoping the shaking in his hands would stop.

Here’s a link to the lullaby for anyone who would like to hear what it sounds like:

Sampson walked over to Lucia, and put a hand on her shoulder. "You wanted to know our stories earlier. I never told you mine. I-I used to have a friend. We'd known each other since we were kids. We were both outcasts I was a chimp who acted like a human, he was a gorilla who didn't think humans were really all that bad. We were like brothers. We came to earth together, and I convinced him that we should do jobs for humans who couldn't do things themselves. He knew I was smart so he agreed. And we were great at it. Never failed a mission. We were a two ape army. Until Junkertown. Some wealthy people wanted to reclaim a part of the Australian outback. He didn't make it out. I held my best friend as he died. Looking into his eyes as he told me how I should change. 'He said Sampson, you're smart, This world is broken, instead of breaking it you should fix it'. Those were the last words he ever said". Sampson covered his face. That had been the one death in his life that actually had broken him. His friend had inadvertently nudged him to join Overwatch in the first place.

He couldn't tell how much time had passed. Seconds? Minutes? Hours?
But gradually he was able to find where he was again, able to hear a soft, lyrical voice chanting what seemed to be a song? One he didn't recognize or understand. His head lolled to the side and his eyes slowly opened to see Kimiko sitting cross legged and holding his hands. Feeling began clawing back into his skin, the numbing dulling down until he could just about feel the warmth from Kimiko's hands.
A sudden wave swept over him then, an unwavering sense of calm that didn't seem to come from him exactly but rather from around him. Like someone had thrown a blanket over him, or he'd been tucked into bed. It felt familiar and yet totally strange all in one.
When Kimiko was done singing another voice sounded nearby.
He turned his head to see Jonah sitting nearby.
But... Jonah was meant to have Lucia.
And Lucia was hurt.
Lucia was bleeding.
"Where's Lucia?" Blue asked with a hoarse voice.

Kimiko’s face lightened up as Blue seemed to be calming, until he began asking for Lucia. She turned to look at her, covered in blood. Something strange crossed her mind. It must have been a feeling of some sort- she had felt it before, years ago, but she didn’t remember. Someone she.. loved? What did love feel like?
She turned back to blue.
“She’ll be fine. She asked to be shot, and she was. Based on the reactions of the group, i suppose even though she asked she shouldn’t have been shot? I don’t know. But she’ll be okay. She’s being taken care of.”
She pressed a cold, but soft hand to his face, sending a wave of sonic energy in to his body. This would not improve his mood, but it should hopefully get his mind back on track at least a little. It was a very concentrated blast. Only enough to trigger some brainwaves.

Blue had began sitting up, his arms trembling but still able to function, and that was pretty much all he needed. He groaned, exhaustion seeping into his bones. He felt as though he could crawl into a bed and sleep for the next fifteen years.
"Kimiko, remind me to kick Lucia next time she gets a bright idea like that," he said.
The cyborg startled when he felt her hand press against his face. She'd been so against touching before and Blue had felt guilty for scaring her earlier. But now she had her hand pressed to his face so insistently... It was strange.
Then he felt something pulse inside his head, like a low, steady hum that vibrated throughout his whole skull.
The cyborg's human eye pinched shut at the weird feeling, but it didn't hurt.
Gradually he began to remember what had transpired before. Masquerade and Lightning Bug, the corrosive bullet, the gunshot, Lucia in his arms, Orion tearing out the bullet, getting Lucia back onto her feet and then...
And then Blue was on the floor. He'd fainted.
"God," he rubbed at his forehead with his human hand, "I thought... I hadn't had an anxiety attack that bad in months. I thought I was getting better."

With Jonah and Kimiko handling Blue's anxiety attack, Lucia turned to Samson, and just . . . listened. There wasn't anything she could do- she couldn't go back and fix it. So she let him talk. And when he buried his face in his hands, she let him mourn. From what she'd heard, Junkertown was a harsh place that didn't really let anyone walk out of there unchanged. Just one more piece of the world buried by the Omnic Crisis.

"We're gonna fix it, you know. That's why we're here. We'll make him proud." It wouldn't help the grief, and it wouldn't bring him back, but it was a promise she could make. "You'll have to tell me more about him sometime. He seems like he was nice."

She reached out for him, placing her hand on his fur, and breathed. He was alive, she was alive, and they had a shot at doing something with that life. It would be enough.

And then Blue woke up, and she heard her name. Whipping her head around, she moved toward him on instinct and ow, ow, okay, Jonah was right, she shouldn't be moving. Slowly, sore, she pulled herself back up from a faceplant and leaned on Samson, tired all over again. Jonah cut in, with his own tale- it seemed like they'd all had some sort of family pushing them here.

"I mean, we all came for a reason, didn't we?"

The omnic's little smack on Masquerade's head startled him slightly- looks like somebody isn't very scared. A tiny click was heard, as the white mask with the twisted grin fell off Masquerade's face. Thankfully, he had caught it only inches away from his face, and nobody had to go through the ordeal of seeing what monster was sealed behind the warped grin. Clicking the mask back on, he retorted to the Omnic's threat. "Fill me with lead and then tear me in half? I'll fight you anyday." Still lounging on his chair, Masquerade calmly observed the group's activities.

Masquerade noticed that Blue probably suffered from PTSD, as evident from his reaction of the gunshot. Watching everybody run to Lucia and Blue's aid was something Masquerade hadn't seen. If he were serious, he'd unload a whole clip of bullets on a squad, so there he hadn't had the chance to witness people survive his bullets, or run around and help people who were shot. He'd mostly worked alone, so having squadmates were something he'd have to get used to... Well, Masquerade was more skilled at removing organs instead of patching wounds so there wasn't much he could do anyways. Seeing as how (most of) the squad were all a bunch of incompetent fools (or at least that was his excuse,) Masquerade finally softened up, even if it was a tiny bit.

Leaving his chair, he approached Blue, Lucia and everyone that was helping those two. "If you're going to get all traumatised from a gunshot, you should just leave." Masquerade sighed at Blue. "I'm a serial killer, if something get's too gory, I can do the dirty work." He whispered to Blue. "Alright. We should stop shooting each other now, unless its dummy bullets we're firing." Looking up, he announced to everybody in the room. "Alright. Seeing as I've stirred up such a ruckus, allow me to apologise," he continued, pulling out his watch and looking at it. "After we've been briefed on the mission, dinner is on me. I will send the location later." He offered.

Blue yanked his head away the second Masquerade leaned in to whisper at him and threw the man a vicious glare.
"You honestly think I want career advice from the likes of you?" He sneered. "Take your dinner and choke on it."
He pushed himself up onto his feet, his legs feeling like dead weights, but he still managed it. And that was something.

Blue got up, and Lucia couldn't help but notice the way he was still trembling like a leaf, as if he'd fall back down at the slightest breeze. Call it a few years of medical training, but she was concerned.

"Whoa, Blue, can you sit back down? Anxiety attacks are exhausting. You should rest." She wasn't sure he'd listen, but hopefully even if he didn't, someone else would hear and help him. It wasn't that you had to be completely non-functional after a panic attack, but it was always a good idea to just take it easy for a little while, maybe the rest of the day. And as for Masquerade . . . well, even Lucia knew when it was time to chill a conflict.

"And Masquerade? I still don't trust you, and I'd probably kill you if I could. You're too dangerous. But- you don't need to apologize. This one is my fault. I'm sorry, Blue. I should have realized that firing a gunshot would have triggered someone. It was dumb and irresponsible."

She didn't mention the PTSD problem. If she'd had the choice, she wouldn't have let Blue or Samson on the field, simply because they shouldn't have to stare their triggers in the eye like that, daily. But they had no choice- there were already so few operatives here that losing any of them might have been paramount to accepting defeat.

Working with a serial killer was a difficult pill to swallow, but they were up against a force that had toppled the Overwatch before them. Someone with killing expertise was undoubtedly needed, and Masquerade's experience with Overwatch would be invaluable. If anything, Jonah needed to mitigate this problem. Blue and Jonathan just weren't mixing very well. First was to calm Blue down. "It's alright, Blue" he said "Masquerade already said he wouldn't use his specialized guns and he apologized for shooting Lucia. We need to stay together as a group. It's literally us against the rest of the world, we really can't afford to lose anyone here". It was already evident working together would be a challenge, Jonah just hoped it wouldn't be a problem when it counted. "I think we all just need to rest a bit. Take a moment to gather ourselves and think things through. All this constant confrontation's getting us nowhere".

Blue glanced up when he heard Lucia request he sit down. He knew that he needed to take it easy, he'd suffered panic attacks before, but he'd wanted to prove to Masquerade that he wasn't some damsel in distress that couldn't do the job.

"Alright, bugaboo," he said to Lucia. He let himself drop back onto the floor, sitting cross legged next to Kimiko. When Lucia apologized for prompting Masquerade to shoot her, Blue's shoulders slumped. "Well it's just something I need to get over, isn't it?"

Then Jonah spoke, and Blue was honestly surprised by how calm and collected he was being with all this. The guy looked like he should still be in school or something. The cyborg sighed. "Alright, I'm sorry for snapping at you Masky," Blue said to Masquerade. "I know you're worried for little ol' me so I'll stop scaring you."

If he wasn't allowed to punch the guy for being such a murderous weirdo, then he should definitely be allowed to annoy him. It was only fair.

Blue looked over at Jonah. "Did you... Do something before? When I was passed out? I know Flower here helped me gather my thoughts-" At least he thought that's what that touch had been about. "But something else happened too and I don't think she did it. It felt like having a blanket thrown on me."

Kimiko had felt extremely uncomfortable with the touching, especially to the face- but she found herself really caring about Blue. She didn’t even know if the energy would work until she did it- it was such a small amount that she was afraid it would do nothing, too determined not to hurt him, or... cause permanent brain damage.
Sitting next to Blue on the floor, she looked up at masquerade.
She had seen the way he hastened to re-attach his mask, and found it perplexing. What did I have under there which was so horrific he couldn’t even let them see? Was his face scarred the way her chest was? Or was it something more serious?

She tried to find his eyes, tried to find something in them, but she only saw cold, empty iris’. Hard, like steel. Did he feel even less than she did?

Then she turned her attention to Lucia. She was so fragile-looking. She was so pale compared to the excited blush she wore earlier, her eyes looked bloodshot. Kimiko didn’t want to think about how painful the corrosion must have been, coupled with the fact she had already been shot.
She stood up and walked over to her, and from her armor, unclipped a metal plate from the chest piece. The clip folded itself in to a small sphere, with an antennae, and a small blue light which flashed on and off. She let the little bot go in the air, and it hovered over to Lucia, attaching to her injured leg, and stretching it’s fibres around the wound. This would hurt very briefly, and would not last for very long, but it provided some light healing, and if needed she could re-program it to stay longer. It was like a light, carbon fibre armor.
“I hope this helps a little. It’ll sting at first but that fades. This should help the wound to heal itself quicker. And it provides a little bit of armor.. i’ll reprogram this bot to stay on your leg once it runs out, and it should make it easier to walk.”

When the bot detached itself, the wound still looked the same, but the swelling had lessened, and there was a slight blue glow to the area. “Don’t be alarmed by the glowing, the effects stay for a little while after the bot leaves.”
Then she sat down next to Blue again, and began working away at re-programming her bot.

Orion exited sentry mode and let out a sigh of relief. "Finally. I thought I was going to shut down there." With a whirr of hydraulics and actuators Orion returned to his original form. He slung the gun arm over his shoulder once more and looked at the masked man. "I'm sorry for that tiny outburst. I just get angry when I am reminded of what I have been through." He looked around at the group and said, "Is everyone else alright?"

"Hey," Blue said softly to Kimiko, "Thanks for what you did there. Calming me down with your song. It was nice."

She was such a strange girl to him. At first she seemed so cold and awkward, almost like she'd never been around other people before. But what she'd done for him, and now for Lucia, Blue knew that there was more to this girl. He would gladly fight by her side.

"You're a good friend," he added.

Blue glanced up when he heard Orion speak. He'd almost forgotten about the omnic.

"I think we're alright, buddy," he said. "How're you holding up?"

"Fine. Thanks human." Orion was wondering when the mission would begin. After all there was not much else to do. "What do you suspect our first assignment shall Be? I'm quite curious." Orion reached up and tried the thing that humans did which apparently helped them think. He scratched his steel head.

Jonah had been very proud of his psychic abilities before. Now that they were stunted, they were something he preferred to avoid talking about altogether. The loss of his powers had been tied to the death of his mother, and that was something he wasn't ready to talk about. Instead, he continued assessing the situation. Blue was calmed down, Kimiko had taken the initiative with helping to heal Lucia, and Masquerade didn't tear Orion to shreds for hitting him. Jonah supposed that things were more or less under control, for the moment. Then he remembered he had forgotten to check his bot count before he left for the trip that brought him here. He looked at his watch as if checking the time. Two. He'd only stored two. That didn't bode well for him. Like an idiot, he had come basically unarmed. He had also visibly shown surprise at the number on his face, so he covered it up by saying " Orion's right. We've been here a while. I wonder how much longer we've got to wait". Right behind his calm exterior, though, he was a nervous wreck. He wouldn't even go to the store with any less than three bots saved up! Why did he come with only two? If they had to undergo any kind of test of their abilities, Jonah was royally screwed. He heard Blue, made a confused expression, and replied "Do something? Blanket? It must have been part of that thing Kimiko did".

Blue watched as the other young man stared down at his watch. He could tell that something was going on inside his head other than the time, because no-one stared at their watch with that much confusion or surprise. He raised a brow, but didn't press. After all, no-one was pressing him for why a gunshot triggered him so badly, he wasn't going to poke his nose into anyone else's business.

"Don't go looking so stressed pretty boy," he said, "It doesn't suit a sweet face like yours."

When Jonah mentioned that it was something Kimiko did, the cyborg looked at her. "Was it you?" He asked. He couldn't tell honestly, he just assumed it was Jonah because Kimiko's energy had felt... Different. Was it even energy? How exactly does one describe they touched my face and I felt better?

Orion sat down and a holoscreen appeared in front of his face. He selected a game and began to play it with his mind. The game was called, 'Bastion Unit Bash' and it seemed to be about destroying evil robots. Which was surprising because Orion was a Bastion unit himself.

Apparently, Orion wouldn’t be the only person to break character today. Masquerade had shrugged off all the insults thrown at him, and instead threw his gun at Lucia. “Then shoot me. I really don’t mind.” He told her, before sitting down next to Orion.

“Why the heck did you apologize? I was one of the people that ran around and tried to commit genocide on your kind.” Then, surprisingly, Masquerade began watching the OR-14 playing the video game. “So, do you have player two? This place is beginning to bore me. I think boredom is already eating away at me, not corrosion.”

Orion looked at masquerade and said, “I forgave you because if I didn’t it would make me as bad as the rest of my kind.” He added, “Oh and This game is one player only. Sorry. You can watch me though.”

“So. No more panic attacks, or infighting” said Sampson looking around. “Good, good”. Sampson felt a bit awkward reliving his friends death.

Kimiko turned to Blue in confusion.
“A blanket? I don’t do blankets. I was just helping you concentrate.”
She turned back to Jonah. “Are you sure it wasn’t you?”
But soon after? She lost focus as she noticed Orion’s video game. “What is THAT?!” She asked, fascinated.

Blue cupped his chin with his robotic forefinger and thumb. "I guess the only other option is I went insane for a few minutes and imagined the... blanket or whatever the hell went on there."

He glanced over when he noticed Kimiko staring at Orion and Masquerade hunched over a video game. He couldn't help the smile that curled on his lips, seeing the mass murdering psychopath and the war machine getting all buddy-buddy with each other.

"That is friendship, Kimmy. And it is beautiful," he said.

It was quite interesting to watch Orion and Masquerade's interaction, and Jonah was thankful for the attention they were diverting. He took this moment to move toward Sampson, who had just finished commenting on the sudden silence. Sampson seemed to be a bit distraught, but Jonah waved it off as warranted, given the circumstances. After sitting down, he added "thankfully, no one received any permanent damage". He took a moment to regain his composure (which had been broken since he arrived), and smiled for the first time in what felt to him like ages, asking "so, I heard you know how to build stuff?" Jonah needed something to distract him while their first assignment was given. The chimp claimed to be an inventor, and Jonah was a sucker for build tips. From what little he had learned of Sampson, he had already revealed himself to be interesting enough to pique his curiosity. Sampson had known Winston, after all.

Sampson nodded. "I've been building weapons ever since I can remember. I can make a shotgun. Out of a pile of trash, with some time" Sampson bragged a little bit. He was proud of his building ability. "So have you ever fought before" asked Sampson.
