Fantasy The Only Light in the Darkness are Flames (Horror)

Ooh, tough choice. Gouging it's eye ain't gonna work, and I suspect it might be able to hear me if I try to run.
The least I can do is pin it and stop it from coming after me for a short while.

(Option 2 has been chosen with 3 votes! Sorry its so short, if enough responses come in quick enough I will do another today.)

You freeze, staring at the demon, and begin backing away. You roll behind a bookshelf, as you hear the sniffing continuing. You stop as you release the creature hasn't appeared to see you. It must be blind, or its vision incredibly impaired for it not to see you. You hear the sniffing demon nearing you, and take a deep breath as its face nears you, reciting prayers in your head. Then, its head rolls around, its thick, fur covered face staring at you with its terrifying eye.

1. Run past the demon

2. Drive your thumbs into its eye

3. Pull the bookcase on top of it

3. That creature doesn't rely on its eyesight to find you, it uses its nose! I agree with Agent on this one, try to pin him down for a while before making a dash for the exit, wherever that exit is.

Yep, that's right. This guy is clearly much more animal than human being, but even a demon cannot withstand the strength of an entire bookcase collapsing on top of them. If it manages to break free somehow, we'll at least have escaped with a good grasp on how strong it is.

Well, what are we waiting for? It's not every day you get to drop a bookcase on the head of a demon.

(Option 3 has been chosen with 4 votes!)

You jump backwards, grabbing the top of the bookshelf and pulling it down on top of the demon. You jump on top of the bookshelf, increasing the pressure and crushing the demon. You hear the thuds of undead on the door, and stumble around in the darkness. You find another wooden door, and push it open, finding a staircase descending into a lower floor, the basement.

You walk into the darkness, before you see a small glimpse of a terrifying face. The pale face of a preteen boy appears briefly from the darkness. Its mouth and eyes are stitched shut, and its ears have been lopped off. It, or he, or whatever the fuck this is be it demon or victim, stares at you, it's shut eyes peering into your soul, before turning and disappearing into the dark. You flick on your flashlight, although you catch no glimpse of the child. You hear the demonic undead up the stairs break into the room you were in, and you realize you have no other choice than to explore the darkness to try find a way out.

...

Mendez

As soon as you go for the door, you're faced with a horrible abomination. A large, humanoid creature stands at seven feet with skin as white as bone. It's face is a horrible scarred mess, with a smile that goes from ear to ear as it breaths heavily. It raises a long, thin claw, and reaches out to touch you.

"Get the fuck away from me!" you cry.

Then, the beast attacks. It leaps forward, grabbing you, and with the second hand grabs the banister to the stairwell. It flings itself up to the upper floor as you draw your handgun. You unload a full clip into its head, but the bullets bounce off against the creature as you stare at it in horror.

"What the fuck are you?" you say, aghast, as you're dragged into a room lit only by a single candle.

You're flung into the center of the room, before the demon starts chuckling like a baboon. You back away, before hearing a small, faint whisper that you can barely make out, seemingly coming from all around you.

"Yes... this one will do..."

"Stay away from me!" you shout, backing away.

You look around the room, seeing two possible hiding places, and the door. You could hide in a small fireplace or behind a massive wooden bookcase, or you could charge the door and try get out.

1. Hide in the Fireplace

2. Hide behind the bookcase

3. Make a run for the door

Never make the horror movie mistake of hiding in the fireplace, especially with all those demonic horrors shuffling about.

The door is probably not going to work out considering we've already tried it. The bookcase, however, may come in handy. Again.

Better hide behind that bookcase!

3. Ugh, I just wanna get outta this place. Maybe we can get some free space and a breather once we're outside. I don't like the idea of sticking with these freak shows any longer than we should, so I bet we should bolt out of that door as soon as possible.

(Sorry about the delay, things got a bit busy, Option 2 has been chosen with 2 votes!)

You crawl behind the bookcase, but the abomination attacks. It leaps forward, slashing its claws across the side of you face. You scream as blood flows out and you collapse on the floor behind the bookcase. It lets out a howling laughter, before grabbing your ankle and dragging you off into the darkness.

"Now..." the voice whispers from everywhere. "Now I am reborn."

Porras

You whimper in the darkness as you try to crawl backwards, your broken legs painfully scraping along the floor. You hear the moaning, breathing and muttering increase. Your hands reach backwards to pull yourself away in the massive basement, but they land on your gun. You quickly grab it and pull it forward, flicking the flashlight on. Immediately, you illuminate mangled, horrific corpses crawling towards you. The monsters have broken, bent and snapped limbs, and are horrifically disfigured by flames or through skinning. They moan, and you let out a yelp, firing your gun at them. The bullets whizz through the air, thudding into the creatures, but they continue to advance. Suddenly, you hear something moving behind you.

You turn, to see a figure emerging from the darkness.

"Stay back! Stay the fuck away from me!" you scream.

The figure stops, raising its hands.

"Porras! It's me!" the figure, Rivera, cries.

"Rivera! Oh, thank fuck. There's monsters everywhere! We need to move! Give me a hand. I think my legs are broken."

Rivera jogs over, grabbing you.

"Ready?" he asks.

"Go!" you say, gritting your teeth.

Rivera lifts you into the air, throwing you over his shoulder as your legs bang against him.

"AH!" you scream.

Your scream is echoed by the howls of the monsters dragging themselves towards you.

"Go! Go!" you yell.

Rivera grunts, and begins carrying you along the darkness as you struggle to keep a steady beam ahead of you, illuminating the darkness. You see the creatures crawling towards you, but they're slow, and the adrenaline pumping through Rivera's veins are enough to give him the strength to carry you and the speed to easily pass them out. Then, you light illuminates chains.

"Wait! There's chains!" you say, before groaning as your legs bump against each other as he stops.

You run your flashlight along the wall, and whimper as Rivera tenses up, and immediately begins whispering a prayer. Kneeling on the ground is a priest, who prays silently. Chained to the wall in front of him is a horrifying creature standing on all fours. It's the size of a truck, barely fitting in the basement. It's body is covered in a black fur, slick with red blood and bits of guts and organs. Its legs turn from mammalian to reptilian, ending in massive, sharp bone claws. At the creature's shoulders, the neck splits into nine necks, each ending with the head, similar to a lion's, but thinner, and with more teeth that barely manage to fit in its mouth. Its yellow, reptilian eyes flicker from the priest, and stare at you. It hisses, long, snake-like tongues flickering from their mouths. It tries to move towards you, but the chains that bind its limbs, body and heads keep it in place.

1. Fire your pistol

2. Talk to the priest

3. Tell Rivera to run

(Hey! I'm back)

I'm pretty sure the priest will end up either sacrificing himself or us to the monster but I'm too curious to pass up the opportunity to talk to the priest. This place will still exist even if we get out of here so we should get as much information as possible to aid us in destroying this place, and maybe communication will be easier between one holy man and another.

2.

2. Who the hell are you? Y'know what, nevermind. Praise the light, lord save us and all that jazz.

3. The things you see before you now aren't meant to be understood by man. Talking to the priest and uncovering forbidden knowledge isn't going to help, for all we know it could increase your suffering tenfold, or it could be worse, you could become one of them. The only thing you need to know is that these creatures are bad, really bad, and you've got to put as much distance as you can between you and them. Nobody can blame you for running away from these abominations, every man with sense would do it. So don't be afraid to bravely run away.

Your reasoning makes me think of the Cthulhu universe, Heisenberg. And if I was in this situation, I would probably just run. But with theses choices?

3 is pretty much a sacrifice to save Rivera. Since I want to save everyone, that's not even an option. 1 is gonna make them angry, which is pretty stupid. 2 is risky and could lead to the loss of Porras who could join the villainous cult, but it's still the best option. A dangerous knowledge about this place is better than none. Besides, I have a penchant for trying to talk before trying more drastic solutions. Option 2.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

"What the fuck is that? Who are you?" you ask the priest.

"I am Father Benedict. I am part of an order that have been delaying the apocalypse for years. I have tried all my life to stop what is to come. I have put it off. But I am failing. There were many citizens lured here by the faint whispering of the adversary. They were in his grasp before I could save them. I tried with my brothers to purify them, to cleanse them of sin, but I could not. When I finally sent them into his arms to stop the adversary from taking them, the adversary still managed to take control of the bodies. You both need to flee. Get out of here, now, before he takes hold of you. Do not come back."

"What the hell are you talking about?" you shout.

"We need to go!" Rivera says, turning and running as the priest begins to pray aloud behind you.

"No! I have to kill that thing!" you roar.

"We need to go!" Rivera yells.

1. Fire at the beast

2. Tell Rivera to run

firing at it is obviously not going to work por que, Porras?
Alright, let's get out of here before things start to get too crazy. We'll think of a plan when we're outside the mansion.

(Option 2 has been chosen with 3 votes!)

"Rivera! Go! Run!"

Rivera turns and begins to run away from the beast, stumbling through the darkness as the priest begins to pray aloud.

Rivera

As Porras yells to run, you sprint as fast as you can through the darkness, away from the beast and Father Benedict. You find a door, and with the arm not wrapped around Porras, pull it open. You see a small, wooden staircase and quickly head up. You find yourself in a small lounge area. Two torn apart SWAT corpses lie on the ground.

"Blessed God, please have mercy on the souls of Gallo and Garcia," you mutter under your breath as you look at the.

You see the door to outside has been busted open in Gallo and Garcia's entry, and spot sunlight coming in.

"Thank you, God..." you mutter.

You hear the growls of the undead at the second door to the room that begins to shudder. You quickly rush outside, heading to freedom.

Blanco

You watch in the rear mirror as the sun sets over the mansion. You wince as you feel your horrific burns, wishing you could've done something. No, you think. There was nothing you could've done. At least you've survived. You hope someone else got out. You continue driving down the road.

Porras

As you're carried outside, you see something that makes you let out a curse.

"Where's the truck?!"

"It's not here!" Rivera says in shock.

You hear growls from behind you, and turn slightly, seeing undead creatures standing at the doorway, just out of the sunlight. You turn to stare at the horizon of the desert, the sun setting over the horizon. The undead's gaze follows yours, and as they stare at the setting sun, they seem to grin.

"Can they follow us after the sun sets?" Rivera asks.

"I think so," you reply.

"Let's get moving," Rivera says, as you see terror flood his face.

"Leave me. You'll go faster," you say.

"The walk be boring without someone to talk to," Rivera smiles, though you see the terror in his eyes.

"Just..."

"No!" Rivera says, as he begins walking out into the desert. "Hopefully we'll find help before the demons get us. If not, I have two rounds in my pistol."

Rivera walks in silence, struggling at some points with you over his shoulder.

Adversary

You stand, reborn, at the doorway to the mansion. You pull off what remains of this form's former occupant's SWAT armor. Captain Mendez is no more. Now, you are here. You watch as your first born child giggled as he slowly walks outside as the sun falls, his stitches opened to allow him to grow to his full potential. The unchained Beast walks alongside it, its many heads hissing as it sniffs for pray as its massive clawed feet stomp along. You smile as you take your first steps into the outside world

"Now... the trio is formed. Now, we are reborn. Sound the trumpets," you say.

THE END...?

You got a great ending! As only Captain Mendez was killed!

(Listen, I know this was much, much shorter than my last one, however, I felt like this would be better as a short and sweet story thriller like story with some more graphic horrifying horror, I left an open ended ending, to possibly set up a sequel of some kind, as I feel like I'd want to move onto something new so a sequel might not come for a while. I hope this more short one was worth it. Also I felt as if my writing was sub par compared to the other one, and I thought it would be best to move onto a new one. Anyway I will of course now put up ideas, Right now it will just be ones you could have chosen from the zombie one! Again sorry this ended seemingly abruptly! Next one should definitely be longer than this one!)

Your options:

Saoirse (Irish for Freedom): It is 1914. With fears of a war with Germany finally coming to pass, the British Empire has been plunged into war. While the Great War rages on, there is a resurgence of the Irish Independence movement, as the Irish people rise up to take advantage of the times to claim their freedom. You'll be taking the role Michael McCarthy, a young man in such a troubled and turmoil-filled time. Take part in the 1916 Rising, the War of Independence and the Treaty War as brother is pitted against brother, friend against friend and father against son, as a country at war with itself is torn apart. This one would deal with the themes of family, loyalty, nationalism, grey morality, etc. And I think this could become a compelling story. Did a lot of research for this too.

The Nightmare Realm: Take control of James, a young boy who has suffered from horrific nightmares all his life that seem to be far more real than anyone else thinks, their effects seeping into the real world as your entire life becomes a nightmare. Try to stay sane throughout your miserable existence, while trying to end this curse and find some way to stop this hell. This one would be another horror, but a lot more psychological and I know how this plot can end up vastly different due to choices, and make them matter. I definitely know how to make this last pretty long too.

Innocence Lost, Under the Coliseum: You are 10 years old when you first feel the weight of shackles around your wrists. In a matter of hours, your whole world is turned upside down as you are dragged away from your home in Greece to work as a slave in the Roman Empire.
Now you must struggle for survival. Every decision you make will affect your future. Will you make friends or enemies? Will you submit to your masters or fight your every command? Will you sell your soul to earn your freedom, or sacrifice everything for the people you love? Will you even survive long enough to see the sun rise? Will you even survive long enough to see the sun rise?

And lastly...

Hunting the Ripper:

"Jack the Ripper is dead / Jack the Ripper is dead / He's lying on his bed / Bleeding through his head / Jack the Ripper is dead" - A Victorian Children's Skipping Rope Song.
Death stalks the fog-shrouded streets of London as prostitutes are killed and mutilated in the darkness of the night... As a Private Detective working alongside Scotland Yard you will be faced with the most challenging adversary of your career, a man who's very name has become a byword for terror: Jack the Ripper. Are you smart enough to catch him? This story will require some thinking and you guys might want to make notes, though with a bit of cleverness and logic you guys should be able to correctly identify the real Ripper. About 95% of the information in this story is historically accurate. Finally as you'd probably guess a story about hunting someone who killed and mutilated prostitutes is not a feel-good family comedy. This one I had done before but it unfortunately died, and had very little interest.

Holy shit, that was short. You managed to make it happen, though I'm not going to make any comment on the 'great ending' right now.

So the top two I'm looking towards right now are Saoirse and The Nightmare Realm, but preferably Saoirse. I wouldn't mind some history right now.

That was a pretty good reenactment of Resident Evil.
Welp, I said Saoirse last time, so that's my choice again.

Yeah, sorry it was really short, I guess it might have been I had been busy throughout this, and my writing wasn't as good in certain areas, and I kinda felt this would be a good place to end no matter how short it was...? I hope this experience was worth it, the next ones I brought up should hopefully be longer and more detailed. I just hope you all enjoyed it!
