As the 20 participants in the AYTO Final Selections have all been checked in and accommodated, they are taken via taxi or uber straight to a beautiful beach off the outskirts of Maui. They're bags, belongings, and items will surely be escorted to the House of Hearts, but for now....it was time for them to meet each other. The selection process was long, and rigorous, yet the tides of fate much like the waves that stretched before the beach had rippled these few people together on a new conquest of love. Destiny awaits the 20 who would soon to step on the serene aura and soft sands of the beach, but how would they forge their own way? Will they dedicate their feeble hearts to the game of love? All for the sake of finding their Perfect Match, and also an extra bonus of ONE. MILLION. DOLLARS!? The ides of romance compel them to walk away with love and money, but the heart is a tricky and fickle thing. Will they disrupt the flow of intimacy from the already formed and attached bonds they will make? Or will they throw it all on the line. The time was now to find out. The Host stood on the beach, in a very dapper suit tailor made to fit. It was an onyx black with some silver pearlescence to give it a quality sparkle. A black tie complimented his swagger. He smiles as he watched the Laddies enter the beach first. He gives them a smile and a nod. This was it, it was officially go time.

"Welcome Laddies, or should I say gentlemen, to Are You The One. I hope and trust your flights were rather comfortable. My name is Redd Hart, I'll be your host for this session, helping, rooting, and guiding you through these 10 weeks so that you guys can find your Perfect Matches. Look, if I gotta be honest...these ladies are probably the most attractive group I've ever seen together. You guys are gonna gave your hands full and I would NOT want to be standing where you guys are right now. I mean that in a good way! Okay guys, ready to meet the Lassies!?"

He awaits their enthusiasm, clapping his hands together before stretching them towards a small trail paved with tiki torches.

"Welcome your Lassies!!!"

The ladies then walk out from the tropical green surrounding the beach, Redd looks at their faces and smiles with another respectful nod. He then turned to see the reactions of the men at the stunning ladies, and then turns to gauge the females' reaction of said men. He groups them across from one another for a specific reason. Now the 10 weeks officially starts now.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. Are You The One starts now! Now, I have to drop the charisma for just a second and get a little real here... a lot of you were saying that you only got on because your sister or friends or family member signed you up. The reality is we've tested and researched your personalities and resume extensively. At the end of the day you guys signed the contract to come on the show, so the liability now rests with no one but you. And let's face it. You guys are here for one reason and one reason only... you guys suck at relationships. For whatever reason despite your amazing looks, you cannot or have not sustained a hearty relationship, which goes to show you, looks aren't everything. If your Perfect Match was standing right in front of you, would you even know it? Don't answer that, I know it's a no haha."

A few humorous chuckles sound through the men and women, as Redd bubbles up once again with glee.

"Alright guys! Here we go. This competition is NOT about hooking up with who you think is the hottest. This is a quest for true love, and a Perfect Match. The rules are simple. 20 people. 10 weeks to find all matches. I would HOPE you read the rules on the contract, but seeing as how I'm The Host, I'd be a bad one if I didn't go over them again:

  1. The ONLY way to confirm if you and your partner is a Perfect Match is the Truth Booth: A place where the voted couple enters to sync up to confirm or deny their match status. House members consider with thought about who you send into the Truth Booth, as you only get once per week. Time is of the essence.
  2. Challenges and Competitions will be administered for the housemates through the weeks for a chance for a Getaway Date: a special vacation fully paid for for you and your matched partner in order to spend time privately and bond with one another. Anywhere from 1-3 couples can win a Getaway per week. ONLY WINNERS OF GETAWAYS ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE VOTED INTO THE TRUTH BOOTH THAT WEEK. So play with your heart!
  3. If a couple gets confirmed as a Perfect Match, they will be taken to a separate resort called the Honeymoon Suite for the duration of the 10 weeks. They will not be partaking in further challenges, but may do as they wish for the duration of the 10 weeks. BUT they are free to mingle and interact and still help others figure out the other matches. If a couple does NOT get confirmed, it's back to the drawing board to determine who among them could be their Perfect Match.
  4. At the end of the week, I will visit the house to see who's being voted into the Truth Booth, and after the voting regardless of the results, the house will all meet in front of The Beams to choose their preferred partner for the next week to come. Guys and Girls' choice will change every week to maintain balance. The Beams are spotlights that represent the number of Perfect Matches that are currently paired together, you just won't know which people they are, which is why the Truth Booth is so important. If you get all 10 at any time in one sitting, you win the million AND you get to walk away with a shot at true love, however, should you not get all 10 Perfect Matches in 10 weeks. You get NO money, and could lose your shot at finding the one true match for you. "

Redd's face then goes a bit damper, as if there was more not so thrilling information to provide.

"Also... for this competition, we've added a twist. As you can see, there are 20 people, BUT... notice the ratio. There are 11 girls, and only 9 guys. That means... two girls in this house may very well leave with no matches for this game. We've restricted listing who they are, which makes it even harder to find all 9 Perfect Match couples. If all nine couples get matched, then all 20 of you still win the money, but fail....and you all walk away with nothing. So Lassies, I wish you the best in your journey to finding your match. And to the two mystery matches, fight hard, this is a team effort. You all need to work together to win love and money. It's not about who you want, no, a Perfect Match is who you need. So with that being said, let's BEGIN!!"

Redd then reveals 11 unlit Tiki Torches, all with pictures of a particular animal on them. He looks to the men.

"Here, we have 11 tiki torches with spirit animals on them. Guys, it's your choice to choose which spirit animal you would be most drawn for. Choose wisely, because whichever animal you choose, you are also choosing your female partner to connect with for the week. Now, for the two female who don't get a torch picked, they will have their choice to choose ANY guy they want to also connect with for the week. That means two lucky guys will have two girls to entertain, or perhaps one guy will have three girls if they choose the same guy. Sounds envious right? WRONG. Because remember this is a competition of odds, the more partners into the equation, the least probable it is to get all 9 beams. So fellas, good luck. Here are the spirit animals to choose from: "

  • Sloth (Diplomacy, Serenity, Altruism)
  • Serpent (Healing, Transformation, Primal Life Energy)
  • Deer (Gentleness, Heart Energy, Grace)
  • Wolf (Protectiveness, Loyalty, Spirit)
  • Lionfish (Beauty, Adaptation, Stoicism)
  • Swan (Tranquility, Responsibility, Intuition)
  • Puma (Power, Confidence, Self)
  • Horse (Nobility, Independence, Service)
  • Fox (Cunning, Awareness, Resourcefulness)
  • Otter (Innocence, Curiosity, Adventure)
  • Owl (Wisdom, Enlightenment, Presence)

"Alright! The guys the Tiki Torches with the Spirit Animals on them are first come first serve, so by all means, have at it!!"
(After male characters post with their choice of spirit animal, I will strikethrough the animal list to make the remaining choices easier to see)

Redd watches as the men start to choose, the females talking amongst themselves. The game was on. Love was no game, but would they play from the heart? Or crap out on a chance at true love? The time to find out was now.

Greg couldn't help but feel more out of place in his entire life as he stepped out of his Uber to the glittering lights of cameras and other filming equipment. He wore his usuak navy blue suit with matching tie and a sky blue shirt. He wasn't one for the glint and glamour of reality tv especially for something as personal as love and relationships. His sister had signed him up for this so and he only agreed at a moment of weakness towards his sister and with the expectation that he would not get past selection. How did he get through he didn't know.

He sat in line with the other men, feeling like he was part of a line up. He looked up and down his competition, though he tried not to prejudice but he could help compare most of them to most of the criminals he had dealt with in his time as a cop. The women though looked as expected, beauties of various sorts, none he would turn his nose up on at first sight. However he knew from long experience that looks were deceiving. His attentions turned back to the relentlessly upbeat presenter ,which he swore was worse than his sister, and listened to his explanation.

When tiki tourch? He wondered looking sat each one individually. He had to admit it was a clever way to see if he shared traits with any of the girls. However more then one what apply to him: Wolf's protectiveness, horse's nobility and independence, Fox's cunning and awareness, otter curiosity and so on. He gave it some thought but couldn't think of which to pick, however what would he pick for the girl he wanted? He finally he walked over and stood behind the swan tikki touch, uncertain of his choice though a neutral expression in his face.

August honestly didn't want to do this, especially if it wasn't natural, it was all for show. Literally. It wasn't like he was going to show up in a suit and tie, he wasn't that kind of person. He had his skateboard hoisted over his shoulder as he got out of his Uber. He looked around and he sighed. "No concrete here I see." He muttered under his breath and he rolled his eyes and sighed. He stood in line and he hummed quietly, balancing on his heels and rocking back and forth. He knew that this was going to be a mess, a complete mess. He looked at the girls and he chuckled quietly, he wasn't going to lie, they were beautiful. All of them. He turned his attention to the torches in front of him.

What is this shit? He thought, thinking this was dumb. He shook his head as he looked at the animals on the torches. He was pretty protective, but he was also curious. He was independant, but he was adventurous as well, then he had confidence. There was so many he could chose from, he just didn't know which one to choose. He finally made a choice and he looked at the Wolf torch and he wet to go stand behind it. He wished he would've thought about it more in depth before actually choosing one. He planted his skateboard in the sand and he sat on it, looking at Greg and then all the other men in line. He tugged on the side of his black shirt and he rested his head in his hand, he wanted to interact with girls already, please. He looked at Redd, he opened his mouth like he was about to say something, but he closed it quickly and he shook his head.

"Hmph.." He huffed quietly.

ZAYLN

~Meeting the Laddies and Lassies~

This was finally it. The moment had arrived. Zay was finally here and in the moment of her life, for love and for truth. She had arrived first thing in the waking day, the sun was still inept upon the sky and the air was a brilliant chill. She had remained in a quaint hotel room for that morning, eager to meet the men and women she'd be staying with for 10 weeks. She had to admit it was a refreshing change of pace for her life. Her attempt at trying to become a prominent singer and artist was more tedious than it was rewarding for her. She was indie but she had an okay following. Most of her fanbase thought she was doing this for publicity and popularity, but those who really knew her, her close circle of friends and loved one knew that Zayln was far from a figure of vanity. She was quite the opposite. She longed for a deeper connection with someone, someone who could give her no waking doubt that they would ever betray her if she was gone. That even in the lowest of low times and heated arguments or separation, the connection & bond would be so incredibly powerful that Loyalty and the power of will would triumph every single time. The time came where she was transported to a beach, and upon finally arriving, got out to see other incredibly beautiful women. She waved to them all and introduced herself.

"Hey guys, I'm Zayln. Nice to meet you all. This is crazy, I can't believe this is happening."

Before long they were instructed to walk out along the beach, feeling of thrill and adrenaline pumping her veins as she takes off her sandals and her feet hit the cozy mesh of soft sand. Her and the rest of the ladies came out and waved, and almost like a flash forward of life, she was thrown into the moment. She was actually here, on Are You The One. She looked at the men, every last one of them handsome and attractive, but as the host Mr. Hart says, it's about more than looks, if they were going to win this money and find love, they had to give each other their spirits. He began to explain the rules, and suddenly the air seemed to change as he mentioned a small twist to the competition. There were 11 of them, and only 9 of the men. Zee began to project and imagine the drama that would ensue already, but of course she remained silent and calculating. Zay stood bold and quiet among the beach, watching the men prepare to select a torch with the ladies' corresponding spirit animals on them. She could only hope someone willing and keen enough to connect with her would select her animal. She didn't know the guys personally yet, they haven't been properly introduced, but she read up on their profiles in the briefing. Grayson, Sean, Etan, and Nanook all took Zay's eye as the type she'd usually go for, they were certainly extra-attractive to her, which her over thinking mind began to kick in telling her perhaps that wasn't the way to go? Already she was succumbing to her mental stressed obstacles. She needed someone to get her out of that shit, to assure her that it would be alright regardless. She was an ambassador of the unknown, yet ironically it was the thing she had trouble accepting the most.

Hopefully these 10 weeks will rectify that.

Marco stretched a little bit as he had finally gotten off the vehicle, having to be on it for a while. He really didn't like being driven to places, mostly since he liked to drive. He really didn't know how to feel being here, on one hand it was frustrating that his sisters had signed him up for this because they had said he was too old to be still single and since they knew he was bad when it came to relationship while on the other hand, it peeked his curiosity, since there where gonna 20 people here from different places and different personality, he was wondering how this was going to play out. When the host came, he had made sure to pay extra attention to what the host was saying while at the same time he was looking at the other males. Of course when the lady came out, he saw that they truly where beautiful but at the same time they where younger than him. He ignored that though before continuing to listen as to what the host was saying.

So of course the moment the host had mentioned the tiki torches, he had to look at them carefully. Of course he had seen how two of the guys had gone to either the swan or the wolf, the wolf having been his first preference but now he had to see which one he wanted to go to. It actually had to be between the fox and the puma, why? He wasn't sure but as time passed, another tiki torch caught his attention. One that he really wasn't sure as to why but he just walked to the Horse tiki torch. Sighing to himself, he stood beside the horse tiki torch while waiting for the other guys to choose theirs.

Sean Weatherly
Sean stretched as he stepped out of the car, looking about at the long stretch of beach and ocean before him. Of course, Sean had to bend over a tad bit the entire ride, lest his head hit the roof, so he felt quite the strain on his back. As he popped his back(a habit of his that tended to freak people out a bit, due to the vigor with which he has to use), he watched the other people meander around the beach. Hm... nicer than the usual scenery Sean thought to himself. While his place of living was located in really quite a nice area for his purposes, he did always like to see new places.

Sean moved forward a bit, as he heard the host begin to speak. He looked around at all the cameras for a brief moment. Being recorded wasn’t exactly something he was used to. Hell, he barely used technology in the first place. Although they mostly did seem to avoid him, which Sean appreciated. His usual dark vest with his white button down wasn’t the best at exactly concealing himself, but if there was one thing Sean had learned from hunting in the woods all these years, it was definitely how to go unnoticed. He rolled his sleeves up and looked back towards the host, crossing his arms.

As Sean listened to the host talk, he chuckled a bit, with his arms crossed. He really wasn’t quite sure why he was here. Of course, he was the one who decided to. He shrugged to himself and continued to listen as the tiki torches were brought out.

When the torches were brought out, Sean looked around at them, with an air of curiosity. He wasn’t really sure which one was the most fitting. Obviously, the sloth and the horse were both out. He couldn’t afford to be lazy, and he was anything but graceful and gentle. Not exactly like he could, considering how gigantic he was. Sean walked back and forth between them, wondering. Finally, he decided to walk over to the Puma. He figured an Ox would probably be more apt, but strength and self confidence was pretty spot on, in reality.

When Sean finally decided to settle on the puma, he finally looked around at the other gentlemen.. Of course, all the guys didn’t come to his size. Not that he expected it. Of course, that meant he would almost definitely win any... physical altercations, should they occur. Although he figured that no one would be stupid enough to try it.

Spencer never knew what love was... Or at least he once did. His past relationships were long distant, due to his association with the military. His family signed him up to join the Military, and to join "Are you the One?". He's never really had true love, everyone's either rejected him due to long distance or cheated on him. There's one thing he does know, and that's... Sucking at relationships. Bootcamp, you never were able to look at females. He learned that the hard way. And now a Pilot/Staff Sergeant in the military, he knows for sure how to treat a woman. But with his flirty antics and confidence, Not so much. He checked his watch. Almost time to go on, I wonder who I would be matched with... He imagined a young, charismatic, flirty girl standing in front of him, smiling. He shook his head. Now that's a way to think... Hmm... He sipped his water, then the Uber pulled up to the red carpet. He could already feel the humidity seeping through the car.

There was Warm sun on his back as he stepped out of the vehicle. He smiled, his pearly whites gleaming at the cameras. They panned up and down his outfit as he walked down along the beaches with the other men. He looked... Different then the other men. The government had allowed him to wear casual clothing for the show. But this was his first appearance, so he wanted to be recognized for his strength and valor. He exited the vehicle with his full uniform on, his shoes polished and everything ironed to a crisp. His hair was groomed neatly, and his mini medals aligned his shoulders. He walked down, the cameras now trained on his outfit. He continued along the beach, slightly annoyed that the sand was getting in his dress shoes. The hot sun bore down on him, but even in his dark uniform showed him proud. He stopped alongside the other men, keeping his head forward, and barely looking at his competition. He was more looking at the women, respecting them with quick looks and smiles. He especially saw a few that really caught his eye. One woman with long blonde hair and the brightest dark blue eyes. He knew, looks really didn't matter, and he knew better too. As the introductions soon ended, Spencer walked to the Otter's side, knowing that whoever acclaimed this torch, might be his match. He felt butterflies in his stomach, feeling a warm sensation wash over him.

Maybe it was the sun.

Interaction: Zayln OppositeInverse OppositeInverse
Reese stood in line with all the other gorgeous women and bit her lip nervously. At the news that two young women would not have matches she felt her stomach drop slightly, she knew there was a good chance it could be her that leaves the show without the love of her life, but upon looking around again she knew that it was unlikely that she left without some good friends in the least, and that was good. Reese watched and smiled knowingly as the attractive men began choosing their spirit animals. She felt butterflies erupt in her stomach as she thought about all the fun these next ten weeks could be. Brushing a a red curl behind her ear Reese turned and smiled at the girl to her right. It was a beautiful girl with brown hair and striking grey eyes who had introduced herself to the girls earlier as Zayln. She looked to be stressing out a bit. Reese quietly slipped her own hand into the girls and squeezed it comfortingly before letting go. She was also a bit stressed it was nice t know she was not alone in it.

Sure she was nervous. Who wouldn't be if you were about to be on a reality TV show, trying to find your "perfect match", not to mention the fact that two girls wouldn't even meet their match?

For the most part, the Venezuelan lady was calm, but now her heart was just racing, and it began to race even more as several men walked up to the tikis. They were all very good-looking, though looks didn't determine her compatibility with them. She dressed rather casually compared to her usual clothes, wearing a halter top and blue jeans that were probably too tight.

Josefina noticed two other girls, a redhead and a brunette who had introduced herself as Zayln. Both girls seemed quite friendly and nice, though she thought of almost everyone as nice, but the two did seem friendly enough. She really didn't feel like getting into drama with any of the girls. She just wanted to get to know her potential match and have a (somewhat) peaceful time in the beautiful Hawaii.

Of course, in a reality TV show, that was not going to happen.

The journey to Hawaii was amazing... For the most part, because Valentina had been napping through most of it. Despite the neutral expression she wore on her face, she was quite excited to be apart of the whole... Perfect Match thing. And when she arrived on the beach after her taxi ride, seeing the beautiful beach basically solidified things. There was a part of her soul that knew she would enjoy the next few weeks there.

It was time to really start soon. Valentina appeared alongside all the other women, and she peered at each man's face curiously. They were all good looking, though Valentina seemed to enjoy staring at her fellow "Lassies" as well, as this guy called them. Everyone was just so good lucking in general. After searching the face of everyone she'd be around a lot starting soon, she turned her eyes towards her sandalled feet, only half listening to the host. Her stomach lurched hearing that two girls will be going home without a match. Huh. That didn't concern Valentina too much. A firm believer of soulmates, both platonic and romantic, she felt she'd be leaving with a special connection either way. Her eyes returned to her feet.

Dani stepped out the car. The ride here wasn't bad just long. She stretched her back ans cracked her neck. The beach was beautiful, she took her shoes off amd walked barefooted down. She took her place by the other girls. They were all amazing, she felt outof place. She looked up at the guys some stood out more than others but all just as handsome. She squished her toes in thd sand as the host began talking. Her heart sank when she heard that two ladies wouldn't fine true love. She honestly wasn't expecting much here. She knew she would make some friends but love still seemed out of reach. She watched as the men picked their spirit animal.

Nanook was anxious. He and a number of other guys were walked out onto a grassy area where the host began to explain and emphasize the game's objective. Personally, he was still in some disbelief that he was here. Lost in thought right now, his body went on autopilot, clapping and reacting on cue with the others. Then, the women walked out. He observed each - all pretty in their own regard - but appearances didn't matter much to him. They were just a plus. That being said, he was actually a little eager to meet them... just a little.

The host soon began to speak again, more info about the overall game itself before explaining their first challenge. He and the other guys had to choose spirit animals. He watched as the men around him were quicker to choose, going and picking their torches almost instantly. However, Nanook had to think about it. His chin perched on his fist as he watched his options dwindle away. Luckily, though, the one he'd been the most drawn to from the start went unchosen and he presumed it must've been fate. Now going for a torch, he carefully picked up the one with the deer on it.

Nakahi couldn't help curling his lips into that sparkling grin when the women joined them on the green. 'This competition is NOT about hooking up with who you think is the hottest.' The host's words chimed in his head as he surveyed the attractive women across from him. 'It's sure looking like a good start...' The young man chuckled to himself and bit his bottom lip. Then again, he probably should be a little more serious about this, at least for the sake of winning the money...and not just for himself, but to not ruin that for everyone else. At that moment, he promised he'd make sure the big head did most of the thinking.

Though, his attention was soon drawn back to the host again, tuning in the midst of his explanation about the challenge and what they were to do. Sounded simple enough and like quite the icebreaker. He didn't want to be too hasty in his decision although the thought of choosing, or even not choosing, the serpent made him chuckle out of irony. Still, he bypassed it, contemplating the puma and the fox... Well, until the puma was nabbed. That now left him between the serpent and the fox and he couldn't seem to decide which traits listed actually fit him more. While the serpent's "primal life energy" really spoke to him, this time, he was thinking he just might be a little more foxy. On that note, he selected the fox torch.
