Anime & Manga What upcoming anime show airing in 2018 will you be watching?

I'm really excited about this year's upcoming anime! Especially Fairy Tail. I've waited far too long. Also for One Punch Man S2, Boku no Hero Academia, Shokugeki no Souma, Attack on Titan, Code Geass, FLCL... can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

This season, I've been watching Seven Deadly Sins, Violet Evergarden, Beatless, and Gancrest Senki. Though I feel the pacing of Gancrest is a little fast. Not sure how this compares to the manga (if there is one). Also still watching, Black Clover and Mahoutsukai no Yome.

Also what does everyone think of Pop Team Epic or Poputepipikku? xD

I'm glad I made an exception to my usual "wait until the season is over before watching a show" rule for Pop Team Epic. It's everything I could have ever wanted out of the concept of a Pop Team Epic anime and the opening is just... so ridiculously cool.

All I'm going to say is that 2018 seems to be the year of anime sequels. We got One Punch Man S2 (no Madhouse though), My Hero Academia S3, Attack on Titan S3, Tokyo Ghoul S3, Seven Deadly Sins S2, Overlord S2, Highschool DxD S4, A Whole Lot of Fate's, Steins;Gate 0 (Alternate Ending, basically S2), Second half of Food Wars S3, Date A Live S3, FLCL 2 and 3, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress S2, Made in Abyss S2, SAO S3, Fairy Tail 2018, and others I forgot to mention. These are all of what I could find, some of them may not air in 2018 but most will.

Boku no hero season 3, one of the best shounen I've seen in a while.

Doesn’t do anything unique, it just does everything so well.

(Also Bakugo)

One Punch Man season 2. I'm still holding onto hope that they'll actually start working on it this year.

well i am currently watching darling in the franxx, gakuen babysitters, sanrio danshi, & violet evergarden.
i'm sort of watching a few others, but those are the ones i'm watching consistently right now and loving.
anyone else watching these?
thoughts?????
i need to squeal about some of these

Absolutely loving Violet Evergarden. (As you can tell from my profile pic xD) Every episode so far has made me tear up. The storytelling is good and the art is just perfect....

RI.a RI.a omg!! right though?! honestly at first i just kinda watched it because the hype and the art is STUNNING, but now i'm finding myself emotionally invested?! it's just gorgeous.

So for winter, I've added some series I am watching

Overlord 2, Grancrest Senki, Darling in the FRANXX(Has best girl), Citrus, Fate/Extra: Last Encore(Thank god it is the Nero route), Koi wa Ameagari no You ni, Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, Killing Bites(Needed my ecchi trash series ok)

Considering dropping: Violet Evergarden.

Haven't started: Nanatsu no Taizai: Imashime no Fukkatsu

Currently watching:
  • 3-gatsu no Lion
  • Black Clover (I actually like Asta's VA)
    Darling in the Franxx
  • Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku (May drop if it doesn't get to a solid point soon)
  • GARO -Vanishing Line-
  • Grancrest Senki
  • Hakumei to Mikochi
  • Killing Bites (considering dropping)
  • Koi wa Ameagari no You ni
  • Kokkoku
  • Mahoutsukai no Yome
  • Miira no Kaikata
  • One Piece (who isn't...?)
  • Overlord 2
  • Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho
  • Violet Evergarden
  • Yuru Camp
As far as opinions go for those...I'd be happy to give them, but would rather not bog the thread down with a college-sized essay...

As far as what I'm looking forward to this year, I can 100% guarantee I'll be watching Hero Academy, Hoozuki no Reitetsu, Steins' Gate and Sword Art Online (though reluctantly). Past that, I usually don't start reading synopses for anime until a few weeks before each new season, and even then will defer to first episode reviews for stuff I'm particularly on-the-fence on.

  1. Darling in the Franxxx
  2. Tonkotsu Ramens
  3. Citrus
  4. Violet Evergarden
  5. Last Encore whenever there are subs.
  6. GAROOOOOOO
  7. Ancient Magus's Bride
Franxxx is show of the season. Tonkotsu Ramens is literally "I can't believe it's not Narita!", and that's A-OK by me. Citrus is surprisingly decent behind the yurimouto smut, and Yuzu is the only girl who competes with Zero Two for waifu of the season. Violet Evergarden is a fun character study, don't know where it sits on the rankings but it's probably up there. Rip Best Girl Tamamo. Garo is 10/10 best action romp. Magus Bride would be the show of the season if it wasn't the show of last season and last year. Chise best.

I might pick up Overlord 2 for the character designs at some point. Dunno about the rest of the year. Will probably watch the OPM and Steins;Gate sequels, Made in Abyss too if it comes it this year, but being caught up with the manga I doubt there'll be enough material until 2019.

This actually looks pretty rad, I didn't know the series went full henshin like that. Might plow through the previous season and watch that, too.

I see that you too are a man of culture.

Tonkotsu Ramens gives me a Durarara!!/Baccano Vibe.

I need a new show. Should I watch Garo?

DxD is super good. Honestly it is maybe the only harem show I rate and enjoy. The characters are good, it has an actual plot, it is super self-aware and meta at times, and the comedy is super good. Kinda not into the new art style, but I'm sure it'll grow on me. Plus without it, we wouldn't be getting a season 4.

Yeah, Narita wrote DRRR and Baccano.

Garo is great, but it's basically just a METAL action romp. Uses CG for its fight scenes too, which I personally like but yeah. I'd suggest watching the first episode it's indicitive enough of the rest of the series, so if you like it you'll probably enjoy the rest of it.

I've seen the first two seasons. The art was one of the things I liked less about the show, so personally the change is a highlight for me. It has fun season names.

I expected no less(Except you being Tamamo scum. Gross)

That is what I thought but I can't be asked to look stuff up. Just woke up.

I see. I'll give it a try. Been looking for something to watch cause boredom.

Ah. Well, probably just because I've seen all the seasons, that art style sticks with you after 36 episodes. Plus the new one looks so weird to me, probably just because it is a massive shift in styles. They do have fun names, I agree.

Oh. I might give Beatless a try too, based solely on a clip that involved the protagonist beating the shit out of a dude with an Occulus Rift.
Really. Huh.
