Digital art but not really cause i'm still trying to improve (wouldn't mind doing comms)

kronos.png
this is an image where i have mixed feelings about
for one i like her hair, but i kinda messed up and now she looks like she's missing an ear
i hate the area where her shoulders meet her neck
but im like super proud of the lighting and stuff
also it was my first time not using a blur and actually using a blending brush
except i messed up her necklace thing
and the lineart is weird

:,)

Luluuuuuu! :D I love your art and how fluid that animation is, damn. Inspired to do something myself haha. Great job!!

Your art is really nice!

I put this in a spoiler because I got a little carried away. (Oops :ghostxx: )

If you're trying to improve your anatomy, I would suggest looking into figure illustrations and studies, if you haven't been doing that already. You'll probably be able to find some guides and references online if you look it up, but if not, start out on your own by image searching pictures of people and focus on drawing what you see.

I would also suggest working on your coloring. It's looking pretty good so far, but digital coloring is tricky to get the hang of, especially with the shades and highlights. For those, you might want to try different intensities of light/dark, and different angles - but with any angle, keep it clear where the light is coming from. Again, looking online for tutorials and references can definitely help.

For the knife and the pendant one, her eyes are incredibly bright, even though the rest of her face is in shadow. If you want her eyes to behave like a normal person's, you should take shadows into account when coloring them. It looks like you tried to do this, but sometimes it helps if you work dark first and add in the light, rather than color it normally and add in the shadows. Since most of her face is in shadow, her eyes would be a kind of dark, olive green. There's only a small amount of light reaching her eye, so there would only be a small arc on one side of her iris.

Maybe something a little like this:

Obviously, there are some stylistic differences (and laziness on my part, lol), but you can see the difference in lighting. (By the way, I love what you did with the shininess on the eyes. That effect is cool AF)

You also may want to make your eyebrows more shaped. Either use a smaller brush to paint them and add the thicker parts as you go, or paint them with a big brush and go back on it with an eraser to thin out some areas and shape it some more.

Anyway, I know I said a lot, but you're doing great so far! I especially love the leaf one - the brush you used for the hair gave a really nice effect! - and you're off to a good start on animation (though you might wanna mark in black where the ear goes, lol). The hand in the knife one is badass, your table is one of the best tables I think I've ever seen, and you're well on your way to being a hair-drawing goddess. Just remember to use a ton of references, and I'm sure your drawing skills will get a lot better! :D

TL; DR: References will help you. Use them. :ghostv:

holy shit THANK YOU

I think I'll be just posting art now and then on here I guess just to mark improvement. I hope this thread can keep running through the years, and that with each page the drawings will get better and better!
