Fantasy Azae - A World At War (Hosted Project Recruitment)(Medieval Dark Fantasy War)

seems interesting im in

Quick check since some have overlooked it, are you good with the posting amount? 3-4 paragraphs (its far from everyday posting, maybe 1-2 times a week but with heavy planning in OOC and an incredibly large and diverse cast. Also chances to create and help with lore)

If you can handle that amount and activity we'd love to have you on board.

King Ad Rock King Ad Rock

Let me get this straight, you are doing a dark, low-magical setting where you want people to help add to the lore instead of just saying, 'Well, this is how I thought of it and nothing can ever change,' and you want people to discuss battles before hand to make the best narrative they can make filled more with drama and intensity rather then 'Character X slashed at character Y hoping to hit', and you want this to be detailed with long post demanding the player take into account the environment and so give the other person plenty to work with... and with an intriguing story pitch seemingly inspired from a darker take on Galactus...

Where have you been all my life!?

xD

Well, thank you for your enthusiasm. We'd love to have you on board! And yes, my Engriact is heavily inspired by Galactus (mostly the film version that everyone hated because it had no business being in a FF film but I thought worked great in a different setting as a lovecreft-esque space demon).

I can message you sometime today if you're interested in joining.

Lol yes, people were not thrilled with that movie. I would be very interested in joining!

So, I have some interest in this, however the lack of magic is somewhat off-putting (but not impossible to work around). I do however have a query I'd like to put out there: what about science as a power? I'm talking alchemy, of course, I have a character in mind who has no power of their own, but obtains some form of "magic" from potions and objects crafted with the intent of defying what is normally possible, known to some as "magic" or "enchantment". Obviously there would be no planet-shattering explosions or god-level powers, but simple things like a potion that lightens one's body to a feather's weight for floating and falling safely, or a wand that channels natural electricity from static to cast a few electric bolts in a pinch. I'm curiously trying to create a semi-magic within a world that it is not commonly available, so I understand if it just doesn't fit in at all, but I figured it was worth a shot to ask if that was possible, using the powers of natural ingredients and fantasy-science recipes to concoct temporary powers outside of the cliche "I want to be the best swordsman in all the land" nonsense. I'm obviously prepared to fulfill the multi-paragraph requirements, I might actually have to tone some of my posts down a bit to make sure they aren't too long XD

So just let me know if that's even an option, I figured the worst you could do was say "no, it won't work out, sorry" and I'd be on my way :)

This could possibly work, but only with a focus on realism and a leaning on the science aspect. I wouldn't want something too fantastical that clashes with the already established world.

Here's where there is a bit of an issue. Small explosions and the like could work, sort of like alchemical grenades or something similar. But when it comes to your two examples, I really like one (an object that could somehow use static electricity) but the other (the floating idea) just rubs me as being too magic-like. I would like anything like this to have some sort of plausible pseudo-science explanation behind it, so that it's just truly understood not to be supernatural magic, catch my drift? Something that essentially makes you almost fly just does not feel like you could give it a proper explanation. Other then that, I think a character like this could work with the proper limitations.

This shouldn't be an issue, we have some posts that are between 4-5,000 words long.

Ah, I see. Well, the ideas I has in mind wouldn't fit into a totally non-magic world, there'd have to be some element of unexplained abracadabra to it. So I'll just back out now while I'm not too involved, I wish you the best of luck with the rest of the story and hope you get a bunch of good players in here. If I get another character idea that would fit better, I might stop back in again :)
