Other Which kind of Rps are underrated and why?

On this site? Anything that's not a high school RP.

In general though, science fiction is woefully under appreciated in my opinion. At least compared to fantasy.

EDIT: Incidentally, if y'all like generic fantasy RPs, then you should join my quest, The Path to Power. It's set in that setting, but with a few twists to spice it up a bit.

Definetly the detailed level cyberpunk/futuristic roleplays they are so fun plus it is good to have a good time and come up with detailed level replies...

I havent seen some Colosseum roleplays... I'm either going to assume the following
A) All the combat roleplayers died
B) Most of the Colosseum roleplays were only treated as a roleplay, and not like a game at all, thus losing interest in RPN
C) Colosseum roleplays were too free based on character, and didnt have big limits, causing lots of arguments over character power, and losing interest in RPN.

Most of the Koreaboo stuff consists of either of the first and third though.

yes but K-Pop is a fandom specific thing rather than just a general setting. so if we're talking about something that is popular i would say the fandom of K-Pop is it's own juggernaut much the same way that fandom of anime used to be when i was a kid. it's basically the new it trending thing with teenagers.

besides not all school roleplays are going to be in the same genre as k-pop ( korean?? high school dramas ). you can have magic school , mutant school, alien school, sci-fi school , etc.

Ten bucks says there will be an interest check for a Korean band school RP within a month.

So a k-pop group that is also a band of magical girls who fight monsters with music, and they go to a boarding school for music students, and must hide their secret identities while they fight evil monsters. Got it.

Multifandoms

Case in point: their niche audience here.

Post Apocalyptic Roleplays that do not emulate Fallout or *insert generic zombie game title here*.

ill rob a bank with you, sbut i have to ask- what genre are we going with?
Aww, I appreciate the gesture unfortunately I'm a little tied up atm with work, school and co-GMing (also IRL DMing, busy busy~). If you'd like though I'm planning a group RP about a lovely band of heisters taking on the world in a steampunky setting. I can tag you in that if I get it up and running.

what do you guys mean academia-based rps aren't the most underrated on this site? everyone constantly shits on them! /s

There is no wrong way to have fun.

Now, if I may add my two cents, I'd say it's planned RPs and rule-bound RPs, and well-structured RPs. Basically any RP that focuses on the actual quality of the writing, setting, story and characters and imposes restrictions on the player's freedom to implement some control over it. Now, I know these aren't for everybody, but every time someone brings up the idea of taking this seriously or wanting to produce quality work as a meaningful part of the fun to be had, they tend to get shat on. Every time the idea of making sacrifices or asking people to put some effort or having requirements or rules or anything like that, there is always someone that has to go and say "you shouldn't do that, RP is just a hobby.". And I get that, people are just lookign for fun and having a good time, but people who are like me and want to be able to enjoy doing what we do while also making somthing productive or that we can appreciate later on, or as I call it "not wasting my precious time" tend to be entirely forgotten or ignored in discussions.

But worse than discussions is that these RPs tend to be skipped over by the very reasons why they shouldn't be. Rules, a solid sense of there being a plot and setting, someone that is competent enough to understand that some character types are just too hard for some people to handle, and many other things usually get translated in things people fear instead of appreciating. The effort and good sense go to waste as basic facts of this particularly hobby are forgotten: that writing takes effort. It's not supposed to be easy. Roleplaying is not playing a agme or watching television where you just enjoy it by consuming, no, you have to be active even when it's not raining muses.

I went on a bit of rant there, I'm sorry. But yeah, that's my answer to the question.

Historical RPs of any sort. That can include pure history or time-travel. Just. Give me something pre-1960s, please. Now. Forever.

Anything historical or military.

It gets a little annoying when the entire first page is nothing but high-school and academy roleplays.

Military history is my thing, and I absolutely love RP that's centered around fighting bygone wars. Anything from 1815-1945 is my absolute favorite.
