So what do the users of RPN believe to be the best anime(s) to show those largely unacquainted with anime?

Do you think someone not used to subtitles and Japanese can enjoy anime with them present?

And lastly, what are your own personal experiences with introducing people to anime and your favorite anime shows?

I've experimented over the last few weeks and saw that series with more serious storylines, that are well-animated, and a possess a widely pleasing art style generally make more people interested than sillier plots and perhaps not as good animation and art styles do. Whether or not it's dubbed is also a major factor, simply because not everyone is used to it or are willing to take the time and effort to read the subtitles. Occasionally I've encouraged people to check out shows and went out of my way when I was hanging out with them to broaden their horizons a little bit, and this usually goes well unless they've had little to no prior experience with anime before.

Comedy and Action are definitely the way to go when introducing anime to people.
I recommend
Mob Psycho 100, Shokugeki, and Soul Eater at first level watchers.

Level 2 Watchers should get deep understanding anime with decent-amazing fights that are still sightly similar to what they had watched in the sense of they have enough action to satisfy but enough quality and suspense to entice so with that said I recommend: Death Note, Stein;Gates, Erased, Death Parade, DBZ(The whole franchise from DB to DBS,but of course not GT), then Full Metal Alchemist(whichever one).

Level 3 Watchers is when things go 180. I do not recommend ANY action nor suspense anime. Instead I introduce them to romance for a particular reason (which I don't feel like saying, but I will if asked why this genre specifically.) and I show them medium-high quality romance and for that I give them: Toradora, Your lie in April, and after they finish crying for 3 weeks after they had seen Your lie in April I give them, Golden Time.

Level 4 watcher are what I consider the last step between becoming a Casual(Which would be people at Level 3) and an Otaku. Here I not only show them great anime but bad ones as well because it is important to teach them that anime isn't as great as we think. To teach them valuable lessons I show them:
No Game No Life(Not every anime ends properly. It's bullshit but we have to deal with it), SAO(Shit anime gets overhyped. Also teaches them about bad characters and how they should not be), then DIRECTLY AFTER SAO, Log Horizon(Teaches them that there are usually better yet, less popular versions of worse yet, more popular shows. This is why I show Mob Psycho instead of OPM.), and the first arc of Fairy Tail(I show them that anime has A LOT of fan service sometimes, although this was taught with Shokugeki it is important to reiterate this fact. Also shows them another bad anime overhyped.)

After that they are ready to go off on their own to watch anime themselves.

Now the next thing you asked was do I think dub babies can watch sub? Yes. In fact I encourage and try to motivate the people I recommend to start watching the subs and less dubs so that they get use to it to the point where it doesn't even bother them.

They all now are official Otaku's because of my full proof system. I believe that the way I have it set up is full proof and it has been tested on about 4 of my friends. Trust me using this method should definitely work.

Depending on the person, Death-Note or Naruto. Essentially if the person is the kind of person to watch shows and not tire of them easily then Naruto is good. Death-Note is if someone wants a concise to the point series. If they like either of those series don't expect them to really like any other anime. I know plenty of people who like other gateway anime (DBZ, Soul Eater, Fairy Tale) but despise/dislike any other.

It usually is a good idea to also have them watch Dubs, I now have a preference for Subtitles but some series sound better Dubbed in my opinion.

Although we can all agree that my system of introducing someone was the most solid and best one here.
