Makoto was watching the sky, waiting for the rain to completely dissipate, however it seemed to have grown slightly stronger once again so he was once again stuck with waiting it to calm down again, 'Again. That crappy weather man needs to get the hell out of town and get hit by lightning. He made a huge mistake with his forecast.' He mentally told himself. Feeling rather uncomfortable from the humidity brought upon by the shifty weather, he decided to remove his hoodie, taking hold of the hem and pulling it over his head, revealing a sliver of his stomach when his shirt hiked up a little before he managed to get it off him.

From the corner of his eye, he had caught the raven looking at him, his face lighting up with color. He raised an eyebrow at him with a slightly incredulous expression but he shook it off in favor of a lazy grin on his face. "Thanks, but I wouldn't say that much. Wouldn't it be too absurd if I could knock out a gang of men on my own? Really, I just managed to land a few good punches and get off lucky." He shrugged with one shoulder, downplaying his efforts as he placed his hoodie inside his bag. He stretched his arms, tilting his body side to side before he placed them on the small of his back in order to stretch his spine. He then shook his hands to relieve some tension on them.

The pouring rain brought the feeling of drowsiness to Makoto. He ran his hand through his hair again, as he rubbed his eyes with his other hand before he let both slide down his face, a mixture of emotions playing out on his eyes before he willed them away. By now, the sky was a mix of different shades of blues and purples, the sun no longer to be seen as stars was carelessly scattered along the dark canvas. Overall, he was feeling tired, hungry and mildly annoyed by how everything was playing out, 'I was promised dinner, then brought here against my better judgment by some weird alleyway and now, I'm stuck under an awning to wait out the rain. This was not exactly something I have in mind for tonight.' He thought to himself, his teal eyes turning darker.

He was snapped out of his thoughts when Lucius spoke. He shifted his gaze to him, blinking twice at his offer before softly breathing out, "As much as going inside somewhere sounds tempting, I'm not all that familiar with the layout of this place nor do I have an umbrella, since I turned down the shrine lady's offer earlier." He gestured to the rain, "Well, I suppose I could make a run for it, though. So where do you suggest we go?" He slightly tilted his head, "I'm not passing out anytime soon, so you don't have to worry with dragging my sorry ass anywhere." He put on a lopsided smile. "It'll take more than a little rain to take me down."

「Ren Mizushima」
Several moments passed with only the soft patter of the rain filling the silence, seeming to only increase as the seconds ticked by. Just when Ren was beginning to suspect the woman didn’t hear him, she opened her eyes and fixed him with a look that would’ve probably frozen a lesser yokai in their tracks. Somebody clearly didn’t appreciate having their nap interrupted.

At a closer look, Ren could now tell that she wasn’t actually a human at all - it wasn’t very obvious before, but now he could practically sense the air around her humming with energy as she stared him down. As thunder rumbled ominously in the distance, Ren couldn’t help but wonder for a moment what kind of yokai he was facing.

"I take it that you don't know what's going to happen tonight, do you?" The woman spoke up as she rose from her spot, breaking him out of his thoughts.

Ren paused at the words, his puzzled expression a clear confirmation he had no clue what she was speaking of. He tried to recall hearing of any such event, but nothing came to mind. He assumed this had something to do with those high school students he’d seen on his way here, but what…? He gazed back expectantly, waiting for her to elaborate, but the woman promptly cut off any inquiries with a flat look.

"I don't want to be the one to tell you, so you're better off looking for Akio and asking him yourself." She told him. With that, the girl simply turned away and headed off in the direction of the shrine, leaving him alone to wonder about what she meant.

...Well, looks like I don’t have any other choice, then. Ren sighed, watching after her with a slight frown. Whatever was going on back at the shrine, it had to be big if even the residents themselves avoided speaking about it. Seeing no reason to continue standing around any further, Ren soon started down the path again in search of some answers.

Kaori Okawa
The shrine was beautiful, no doubt about that. Though as Kaori's eyes wandered over the simplicity design of the walls, she was amazed because she'd never really stepped further than the gates of the shrine. She'd somewhat wished she did now, but for what reason? The shrine wasn't a place she would visit on a daily basis. What would she even do here?

With a small sigh, Kaori wasn’t really sure what to do now that she was here. Glancing once more at the letter in her hand, she spotted what seemed to be a gathering of… people (jkes on u all) and out of curiosity, she decided to head over and see what the commotion was all about, and wondered if it had anything to do with the letter.

Rubbing the back of her neck as she approached who appeared to be the eldest of the group (Akio), she stopped to raise the envelope in front of his face and it didn’t help that he was so tall. ”Do you know anything about this letter?” She asked with curiosity as she tilted her head to stare at his face, hoping that somebody would give her the answers that she'd been wanting.

Upon finishing his dramatic entrance, Akio quickly stood upright. His eyes glinted with anticipation as he spotted nearly all of that night's guests gathered before the temple.

Yokai and humans standing side-by-side... My plan is already coming into reality.

A relatively tiny form popped up before the three, her long, navy-colored hair and striking blue eyes catching the god's attention. She held up the invitation before him, and asked what the whole ordeal was about.

Akio exchanged glances with the three beside him, though he was definitely much more excited in comparison to a standoffish Itsuki.

With a gentle smile, the god tilted his head back at the girl. "Okawa Kaori. How lovely to make your acquaintance." He laughed to break the tension, and took a step down from the small staircase leading up to the shrine gate.

"I'm actually the one who wrote that letter. Invitation, to be exact." the older man grinned, his gaze drifting to the other newcomers. He motioned to the shrine as he continued, "You're all welcome to come inside: dinner is ready. Ah, and I assure you, this isn't a scam. My... friends and I will explain everything as we walk, isn't that right?"

Still beaming, Akio nudged the three behind him. He assumed Itsuki was trying his best to smile and nod.

"Well then, follow us inside, and you'll get all the answers you need."

”Please don’t cause too much trouble… I don’t want Akio to nag at me for what you did.”

Ugh. Leave it to Mr. Akio's-Pet to try and be on his best behavior. As if Itsuki wasn't having a hard time himself.

"Just take care of yourself." Itsuki whispered back harshly. Folding his arms, the kitsune turned towards the humans once more.

Like a downpour, the newcomers (both supernatural and human) started filing in, one after one. And, before he knew it, one of them made the bold move of approaching the shrine god. Itsuki's ears twitched at Akio's efforts to make him act congenial, but finally Itsuki uncrossed his arms. He examined the girl with disinterest, though he noted that her straightforward nature might make her the ideal choice for a human partner.

Reluctantly, the kitsune cracked an awkward and obviously forced smile, his eyebrow twitching. "That's right," he added through clenched teeth, "We have all the answers."

As she was getting closer to where the others were, Airi unraveled the messy bun she put her hair in, running her fingers through her hair and massaging her scalp to smooth it out and settle the mess. The rain has been going on for way too long, and she was soaked to the bone but she couldn't care less. She looked up to the sky which had now given way to the night as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes to calm herself.

As though heeding to her, the downpour has considerably relaxed until it was barely noticeable. She looked around the place which had now reverted to the solitude it usually was, it would seem that the rain had cut their visits short. She squeezed the hem of her dress when she caught her reflection on a puddle. Her pale face was its usual blank canvas, however her appearance almost made her... pitiful, to say the least. It was no wonder the yokai from earlier couldn't help but check up on her. Her mouth slightly twitched in disdain, looking down on her clothes. She really found no problem with it but given her previous situation, it would seem that she really needs to get a fresh set of clothes. However, she couldn't be bothered to go back to her room. She contemplated whether she would ditch the dinner affair altogether but she knew in herself that there really was no escaping her responsibility which made her softly breathe out. 'Whatever, I'll just get changed to get it over with.' She thought to herself as she made a quick detour for her room.

By the time she had changed into dry clothes, the rain had ceased and with that, she walked to the main gate, the sound of crickets accompanying her and filling the silence of the night. As she grew closer, she could see the small crowd, filled with both familiar and unfamiliar faces. She wordlessly took her place alongside her fellow yokai, as she continued to observe their visitors when she noticed that there was somewhat of a common trend with them, 'Students? What on earth did Akio see in these children?' A curious thought blossomed in her mind, making her purse her lips as she shifted her gaze to the land god, 'I hope you have a very good explanation for this...' A few moments later, she forced her thoughts away with a soft sigh as she looked at anywhere but the other people.

"One... More... Step... YOSH!" Akira grinned in accomplishment as she climbed up the roof top of one of the shrine buildings. She could finally get wet in the rain and maybe that would make her day. Maybe, just maybe, it could also give her the excuse of delaying the meet with the new humans! She knew it would be a remote possibility, but still. It was a possibility nonetheless. She wasn't against humans, Akira just needed a reason to be disobedient. Clad in the one of the finest kimonos she owned (Then again, all her kimonos were fine), Akira sat up the roof top and tossed away her umbrella, facing the sky with closed eyes and open arms, waiting for the rain drops to give her some reprieve.

She waited, and waited. And waited. Not a single drop of water hit her. All she felt was the cold damp wind in the darkness, and nothing more. The yokai peeked through one eye only to find that the rains had stopped. All her efforts were in vain. "Nooo." She groaned, slacking her shoulders, "Just my luck..."

Akira sighed and gave in, gazing into the distance in disappointment. Bah, I'll just settle for spoiling someone else's night, she thought. But then again... She did rather enjoy that sort of thing. A small smile curled upon her lips as she thought about various plots and schemes, oh yes, she was going to have fun one way or the other. In the middle of her thoughts, Akira grew distracted by the sight of the guests in the distance. "Oh-ho they're here," She mumbled to herself, clutching the roof as she observed them from atop.
3nBP5Up.png

"Tch," She glared at the students when she realised that she would be bound to one of them. Akira would have to first get down from the roof and join her fellow mates. She didn't want to, but she had already gotten into enough trouble with her shenanigans. Well, I'll just not listen. It's not like things can get any wo-!!!

The tiles that she was sitting on gave away, causing her to slip over the roof and head for the ground. "Oh great!"

Tap. Tap. Tap.

The tip of a pencil tapped rhythmically against a wooden desk. Sharpened to a point and poised readily above a thin sheet of paper. But no matter how much Midori willed herself, she couldn't bring the graphic tip down. She had been reading over the same paragraph again and again, unable to process the information, as if it were written in another language. It wasn't as if it were a particularly difficult homework problem, but she was feeling uncharacteristically distracted. As more time went by, her focus slipped away piece by piece. Her legs bounced with energy, her body anxious to move. She couldn't shake herself free of the eager and desirous grip taking hold of her.

"I give up," Midori groaned as she finally laid her pencil down in defeat. Her limbs thanked her in pleasure as she stretched her arms up above her head. She was just trying to think up a new plan of action, when she heard a soft meow just outside her window.

"Mochi?" The girl turned to look. Pawing at the glass panel of her bedroom sat the family Ragdoll, her long fur lightly splattered in droplets of rain. "What are you doing outside?" Midori worriedly hurried over to pry the window open and pull the cat into the warmth of the apartment. But when her hands reached out, the cat only moved further away.

"Um, Mochi?" Midori cooed with confusion. The cat simply mewed in response, then briskly walked out of sight. "Mochi! No, Mochi! Where are you going?! It's raining!" Midori exasperatedly called after her. When the Ragdoll didn't return Midori quickly grabbed her once discarded jacket and threw it on over her uniform, only leaving the apartment once she had securely shut the windows and locked all the doors.

A set of house keys still in her hand, Midori hurried down the stairs only to find Mochi waiting happily by the fence entryway. "Thank goodness." The girl sighed in relief. "Come here Mochi, let's get you inside." Mochi mewed once more, then pranced onto the sidewalk and disappeared around the bend. "Mochi?" Midori called with confusion. Her cat, who completely loathed baths, was soaked in the falling rain, and yet for some reason she insisted on remaining outside. Something had to be wrong.

Midori followed after the Ragdoll, calling after her in an attempt to coax her back home. But each effort failed, as Mochi kept moving further away every time the girl almost got close enough to grab her. The cat led her through alley ways and over brick walls, each time turning back to make sure her human was still following. At last, Mochi sprung gracefully atop a staircase and waited, just as the rain began to stop.

"Finally," Midori scooped the cream colored cat up into her arms. "Let's head hom—," the girl began, only to stop when she realized where exactly she was. A prominent red gate stood behind her, while before her towered the familiar sight of the gabled roofed shrine of Yukari. Only just a short ways ahead, she could see a small group of people readying to head inside, half of which were wearing her same school uniform. However, it couldn't possibly be true. No matter which way she thought it over, the path that Mochi had taken her through didn't lead anywhere near the Yukari Shrine.

Quietly, Midori lifted the Ragdoll so that they were face to face. "How could you? Mochi, you tricked me," the girl whispered. Mochi merely looked away, a sure sign of guilt indeed. It wasn't as if Midori wasn't interested in helping out the shrine, as the letter she received surely had to be some sort of advertisement ploy to renew interest in Japan's culture, but she wasn't one for public events either. Now that she was here though, she could see that not that many people had arrived, and a part of her felt guilty at the idea of just leaving when the shrine could be in serious need of aid.

Midori took a brief moment to check her guard, adopt a bravado of false confidence, and then began her approach. She could just make out a man at the head of the group inviting everyone into the shrine for dinner, when Mochi suddenly leapt from her arms.

"Huh?" Midori's life flashed before her eyes as she looked up to see her death hurtling towards her. Although, she hadn't been expecting Izanami to come to her directly for her soul. With little time to react, Midori crashed face down, squished beneath the false Lady of Death. "Mochi, you traitor," Midori choked out in a hiss so low so that only the Ragdoll should hear.

"Waaaah- OOF!!" Akira fell to her doom with a huge crash. But it was not so much of a CRASH than a FWUUMP! "Ow..." She groaned, anticipating some sort of pain. As a yokai, a fall from a roof wasn't really what one would call "life-threatening". But Akira was surprised that she felt no pain at all. In fact, her landing had been quite soft... Almost as if she landed on a pillow.

"-- You traitor" She heard something from the pillow that lay beneath her.
"I'm not a trai-ACK!" She lifted her head to find a cat staring right into her eyes. K-KAWAIIII! Akira thought, she would never admit something as being 'cute' out loud though. That would tarnish her reputation. Instead, she hissed at the cat. Akira sat up and moments later, remembered about the soft landing. She looked down in surprise to find a girl. One of the selected prey.

A human!!! Akira transformed into a raccoon and scurried off of the girls back and onto the ground. It was a lot easier than saying thank you. What? Was she supposed to apologise? Well, it wasn't like it was her fault that the roof gave away.
3nBP5Up.png
Besides! The girl just happened to be on the ground below me. Was I going to apologise for that as well? No.
I mean, that's what she reasoned anyway.

Lucius turned away to look around, surveying the area and the places they could go. Finally, he pointed at the steps of a building, and said, "We could take a run there. Wait.... oh."
He looked up at the sky as the rain slowly came to a stop until the only sounds of precipitation falling was the slow 'drip, drip' of built up water falling off of the plants of the landscape.
"Looks like the rain's stopped," Lucius said, "We can finally find where the hell we're supposed to be going."
He looked left and right, unsure of which way to go, then decided, "Screw it. Let's just go wander around until we find where to go."
Lucius' heart started racing at the thought of the party. People. He'd have to talk to people. He'll go insane with social interaction, and fall to the floor in exhaustion, embarrassing himself!
He stuck his hand into his pocket, trying to gently remove his invitation from it, but to no success. When he finally managed to get the paper out of his pocket, it was mangled and half-torn up from the friction in his pocket.
"Well, looks like my invitation is done for," Lucius said, wondering why he tried to remove it from his pockets in the first place. Lucius took a step to the left, then changed his mind and ran to the right, looking behind to see if Makoto was going to accompany him

Mai, who was in her catgirl form, sorta wandered the shrine. She paid no attention to the conversations happening around her, though she did take note of the abundance of humans. How strange. Mai climbed into a tree, deciding to watch them. She didn't want to meddle in these topics. She also had no idea what happened in the last three pages. So sitting here, slightly sheltered from the rain, seemed like a perfectly reasonable idea. Today Mai wore a tank top and shorts, because climbing trees were almost impossible in traditional Japanese clothing. Fancy kimonos would have to wait. The yokai thought for a moment. Why were there a bunch of humans here again? Her eyes wandered towards Akio.

Mai didn't exactly dislike Akio or the shrine he owned. She didn't particularly like them either. He probably brought these humans here. Mai looked at a few of them. There was quite a cute boy with another, equally cute boy. Mai's mouth watered a bit. They looked delicious.
Akio would probably make my life miserable if I ate them, though... Mai thought. Ugh...
There was a girl who was talking to Akio.
Sucks that I can't have them. Mai sighed.
She leaned back on the trunk of the tree she was in. Making trouble today would probably make Akio go after her ass. Staying here would be the best idea.

Makoto decided to keep watch of the rain, his back turned to Lucius as his eyes glazed over in thought. It was no doubt that his aunt was looking for him right about now and would probably interrogate him when he comes home, but he really has no way of telling since he purposely left his phone inside his bedroom. He clicked his tongue and shook his head, ridding himself of the thought as his face fell into a nonchalant expression. He surveyed his surroundings, finding it rather irritating that he was stuck in this place. Sure, it seemed interesting at first but now, he could feel it rather cumbersome as it slowly grated at his nerves. He ran a hand over the back of his neck and sighed, 'What the hell did I do to get stuck in this crap hole?' He thought to himself, an annoyed look crossing his features as it left faster than it came.

It was then he realized that the rain had slowly died down, sending ripples over to the puddles which had accumulated from its prolonged exposure as it gave way to cool air. He put out his hand to check if it had completely gone. "Well, final-fucking-ly. Took you long enough." He murmured under his breath, when he was suddenly reminded that he was in fact not alone under the awning. He glanced over his shoulder at Lucius before looking back to the scenery and nonchalantly humming in response to his statement. Having passed this temple on his way home everyday, he figured that the shrine would be a great place to start on his ditch effort. If he could remember correctly, it should be pretty smooth sailing from there.

He had enough of today that he would much rather get back home than to stay with a couple of other people and play nice any longer. He was tired, sleepy and hungry, which are never a good mix to begin with, so when he heard that the other male had no idea where to go and blindly ran towards the other way, he stayed where he was and called over to him, "Hey, you're going the wrong way. I'm pretty sure the invitation said that the party was over to this way." He jabbed his thumb to the opposite side, picking up his backpack. Of course, he didn't actually read the invitation thoroughly but he just wanted to get it over with and figured he might as well drag this person along, rather than explain why he wasn't following him as he began to walk down the left path, sliding an arm over one of his bag straps, not looking back while his eyes turned dull.

Fujioka Nanami

Nanami watched as more people arrived . She had been here for a little while, waiting for further directions from the mystery person who had sent her the letter. She took note of the fact that, like her they were all in school uniforms."I wonder if we'll get to meet the mystery person anytime soon..." She thought. Nanami was picturing an older person as their host. She observed the other guests. She wondered if this was some sort of event planned by the school. Her mind was working a mile a minute as she tried to figure out just why they had been invited to the shrine.

Nanami stopped after a while. She figured that the reason behind this invite would come to light soon enough. Once again she gave the others a once over. There were all sorts of cute people. She wondered if she'd be able to snag a potential partner. Maybe this was why the had been invited? Nanami smiled at the thought. A girl could dream. She doubted that this was some sort of event to help them find a girlfriend or boyfriend.

Nanami's thoughts went to her parents. She had sent them a quick text about where she was headed but it hadn't been very specific. She'd have to explain things probably once she knew what was going on. Nanami knew that they were probably worried. The two of them could be such worry worts at times. Their minds usually jumping to the worse thing.

MIYAMI KIYORU
Click. Whirr. Click. Whirr. Click. Whi—

"Would you quit playing with that dreaded toy of yours?"

Miyami blinked, her hand poised above the capture button of the toy camera. Her finger elegantly tapped the blue surface, the girl's lips curling into a sly smile.

Click. Whirr. Click.

The woman across from her clenched her teeth, the mess of black hair trembling as she rose. Slam! The table shook and knocked over the blue camera, sending its small frame face down onto the wooden surface. Miyami looked up with a hiked brow and craned her neck upwards to greet the infuriated tutor—her smile was still plastered on her face. It was too easy, really. All the tutors before her were easily angered by her antics. This one had lasted on a day longer than the last.

Damn. Her parents were improving their choices. No matter, Miyami would see to it that she stomped out on her own, seething about the girl's insolence.

The girl's voice vibrated against her throat as a small, soft hum sifted out of lips. Two slender fingers tipped the camera to its rightful position. A chuckle nearly escaped her lips as the quaking tutor followed her movements.

Whirr. Click. Whirr. Click.

"I said stop!" The woman stomped, yes she stomped her foot against the floor. With knotted brows, Miyami peeked to the woman's leg and sighed. She leaned back leisurely into her seat, her eyes wandering towards the window. Kiyoru had things to do, a place to be. A shrine, to be exact. She needed escape and today, she would grasp in the palm of her hand and yank until it came to her. It just so happened that a letter formally invited her to the shrine. Odd, but rather convenient.

Click. Whirr. Click.

"Why should I stop?" She inquired, her eyes drawing up to the woman's.

"You have been neglecting to do your work, only stopping to play with that...thing," the tutor sputtered. With how knotted the woman's brows were, Miyami could only imagine the tutor would have quite the trouble unraveling them.

"But it is fun," she replied with a grin.

"Are you still a child?"

A brow was raised. "Of course."

Click. Whirr. Click.

The woman turned her heel, seething with her hands balled into fists as she stomped out. The door slammed behind her, rocking the frame and causing Miyami to let out a stream of giggles. Oh! Too easy, too fun. She raised the camera and kissed it lightly before eyeing the window behind her. It was the window she usually made her escapes to—it was always unlocked because of her antics and had not been detected yet. Mostly because her tutors cared not for her and would rather her burn in a pit of failure. It would contradict their goal to see her fail if they allowed her to stay and persisted. Which, if it weren't evident already, was incredibly hard to accomplish.

Miyami pried open the window and slipped out, her leg shoving it closed with a slight thump. Her hair flew behind her as she landed with two feet—she nearly fell over but was able to right herself before doing so. The girl hopped onto her bike that was propped against the wall and slung her legs over it. With a gleeful laugh, she pumped her feet on the pedals.

The girl rounded through the city, swerving through streets and corners until she parked the bike near the steps. Rain had made her skirt damp and her hair stuck to her neck. Miyami squeezed out drops of water from her dark strands and smiled, her gaze looking towards the shrine. She tumbled upwards, her feet splashing against a small puddle left over from the rain. As the girl arrived, Miyami furrowed her brow. There were others, standing as confusion filled her to the brim. Slipping the invitation out of her pocket, she shifted her weight and spoke, waving the invitation around.

"What's going on?"
