The Second Griffon War (Casual Thread - All welcome!)

Silver grinned back at her. "I don't believe for a second that you wouldn't. Your secret is safe with me." He had just finished his ice cream, licking out the inside of the cone before tossing the cone on the ground. "I haven't been around a train station other than in that battle, and at the time I had far greater concerns. I hardly even saw or heard it. Though from what I did see, it looked like a Goliath of a monster."

"It is a giant, scary, massive metal monster!" Luna nearly screamed with a wave of her hooves. The townsfolk around them acted quite strangely. Some of the ponies grovelled on the ground, as mortals usually do around deities, and others just pretended that she wasn't there and hurried about their business. Luna ignored them and looked over at Silver with a grin. "My friend built it! Well, not the train, but the engine it uses. She's a smart hippogriff!"

"Hippogriff..." he shook its head. "It's so odd, hearing ponies be so at peace with so many races." He smiled. Seeing the princess so enthusiastic was always refreshing, no matter how many times he experienced it. Just something about the way she could get really excited about things, he couldn't help but grin. It was infectious. "But to build something like that... she must be both smart and fearless."

It didnt take much of an impression for the young dragon to realize that this was some sort of test. And by noticing Princess Luna keeping her distance from the fight, it was quite obvious she caught on as well. If the Statues were true intending to kill them, both of them would have attacked and not just one. There was that and the fact the stone guardian seemed to be more focused on Cassian as its target. "I'm not sure if im ready for a full assault after that fight in ponyville. I better make this quick", he thought to himself as he held his position, watching the golem's movements carefully. The golem's massive stone body made it slow but, one mistake and you'll end up flat as a pancake. The hulking stone guardian pulled back for another swing at the young dragon. In that moment, Cassian's eyes and claws flashed for a moment. The engraved runes on his sword began to glow blue. He never had a chance to try out the enchanted enhancement on his sword in battle, but he made sure to test it on stone surfaces. The golem brought down its massive arm. Cass react with a leaping back-step, dodging from getting smashed. He then leap back forward, landing on the golem's arm for leverage and leaps up again at it's head. He twists his body in mid-air with his sword and strikes the stone golem at its neck. It took a bit of effort from the sword's heavy weight, but at least he managed to strike his first blow.

Unfortunately, all it did was leave a small crack as his he and sword just bounced back upon impact. "What!?", he shouts in surprise at the stone being's unusual endurance. Before he knew it, he saw its other arm coming with enough force to turn him into a stain on the wall. Cass quickly reacted, bring up his broad blade as a shield. He feels the impact as if he was hit by wrecking ball. The impact with his sword bounces him back and sends the young dragon hurdling through the air. Suddenly, he miraculously recovers from the stagger, flipping his body right-up, and plunges the sword in the ground halting himself from slashing into the wall. It was lucky for him that his sword's magic enchantment helps with absorbing powerful blow, even though his hands were stinging from that last strike. "So it's density is enhanced with magic. They must have done some serious work on this thing", Cassian thought. Just from exchanging blows, he figured out that brute force isn't enough to take down the automated being. While it was easy to shatter regular boulders with his sword, this stone golem was no different from his sword. Even with activating it's enchantment, it doesnt have enough magical charge to cut through the golem's stone body and magic buffer all together. But he wasn't done yet. In that moment, the young dragon;s eyes were set on some growing vines near the golem's feet. And thats when his new plan took root.

"Ugh, I cant believe I'm gonna do this again. I just recovered...", he thought. Cass brought his sword up and back into it's sheath. He then starts coiling his talons on his claw as a green magic aura starts to charge in his palm. "But times like this calls for a change in tactic.", Cassian crouches on all fours. He thrusts his body forward into a quick sprint. The golem brings up both arms and brings them down. Suddenly, Cassian flips forward over its strike and dives down between its feet in a somersault. "ENTANGLEMENT!", he shouts in ancient equestrian upon touching the vines as he passed under the golem. His spell activates and the vines were engulfed his his magical aura before springing to life. They grew as thick as oak trees and began coiling around the golem's legs, immobilizing the stone guardian. Still sliding across the ground, Cassian quickly fire his hookshot toward the ceiling and pulls himself up. He digs his hind claws into the rugged, enabling him to hang upside down. Or more like standing on the ceiling's surface. Seeing that the golem was occupied in freeing itself, Cassian begins charging magic in his claw again. "Earth bound obstacle standing before my path, shatter and bend to my wrath!", he chants in ancient equestrain as his green aura turns yellow with a yellow magic circle emitting around his claw. The charge of the output was decently strong, but the aura the young dragon gave upon activating the spell have a quick glimpse of being very high like a raging flame. With a thrust of his body, Cass jumps downward at high speed toward the golem, bringing back his arm holding his charging spell. "FISSURE STRIKE!", Cassian roars, smashing his claws right into the crack area of the Golem's neck where he struck with his sword. The impact began to bring shattering glowing yellow crack to spread from its neck and through out its entire frame. Yet the stone guardian's magic was stil barely holding it together. So with one more push, Cassian grows in anguish as he charges more power into his spell, digging it deeper into the golem's stone exterior. Suddenly the yellow ground overwhelmed it and the golem;s entire body shatters, sending large bits of rock flying all around the room.

Streams of green magic trailed and sparked behind the flying pieces of the fallen stone guardian. Which then followed by a burst of green magic from the light shockwave, kicking up the dust. Once the dust clear, there was Cassian with his claw plunged into a pile of rubble. He was sweating with labored breathing bellowing from his lungs. Taking a deep breathe, he prys his arm out from the vice pressure of the stone like. He falls on his backside and continued taking in steady breaths.

"I think it has less to do with fearlessness and more to do with being plain insane." Luna said with a chuckle. "As for the other races, we are all mostly at peace. Dragons and ponies have been for a loooong time, changelings recently learned how to feed off of mutual love rather than forcefully taking it so they are chill now. Griffons are assholes. Minotaurs are... Kind of how they've always been. Friendly but cocky."

As the final blow was struck and the rock golem was reduced to a pile of gravel... Luna whistled a bit from off to the side. "So you're not totally useless." She commented with a nod of her head. "Not useful, but not totally useless." And with that she walked past him, over the mound of rubble and through the now open door. They had quite a ways to walk until they encountered the next door, so in that time Cassian could possible ask her some questions.

The sun was high and beating down hotly upon the land. It was on days like this that Princess Silvanus liked to go on adventures!.. And somehow her adventures had taken her 70 miles south of Canterlot, into the outskirts of Ponyville. How she had gotten here, she will never know. It was a mixture of not paying attention, and teleporting all over the place with her newfound powers.

Now that she was tired, she wanted to find a bite to eat and a place to rest. Just outside of Ponyville was an apple farm... Surely nopony would care if the filly just stopped in and stole a few apples! At least, that's what she thought. She looked after this planet, after all! She deserved an, uh... Apple.

So she sat underneath a tree in the shade and ate a few dozen of them...

Silver frowned. "Wait, Shifters... feed off of mutual love? They can do that... just recently..." he held a hoof to his chin, thinking for a moment. "In over two thousand years, NOPONY thought to try that?" He then thought back. It was mostly the shifter king that he knew about, he even met him on the battle field and fought to the death, but he had still heard tell of the queen. She was just as bloodthirsty as Morphus, but she was far more cunning about it. "Chrysalis does not seem the kind to opt for any peaceful resolution unless it is truly necessary."

Luna raised an eyebrow and looked over at Silver with a grin. "Chrysalis didn't change like the others did; she ran. The next time we meet, I'm going to tear her head from her shoulders. It's going to be great." Although they weren't out here to discuss war, she Luna decides to switch the topic. "Have you heard tell of the 'moving pictures' someone invented? They are pictures... That move."

Applejack wiped the sweat from her brow. That was the south field fully harvested! Now to start on the north side. She put her hat back on, flipped the basket onto her back, and trotted up into the north field, where she heard the telltale sound of apples being eaten.

Calmly, Applejack put the basket down, and pulled her hat on tighter, and went over to the tree the Princess was sitting below, and leaned against it, frowning.

"Nice, aren't they?"

Silvanus looked up at Applejack and nonchalantly shoved another apple into her mouth. Core and all. Apparently she wasn't a picky eater. Apparently the royal manner classes had been getting through to her because she didn't speak until after swallowing the apple, at which point she smiled and nodded. "They are quite good! The trees are healthy. They say thanks for taking care of them so well."

Silver frowned. "A painting that moves? That seems impossible... what kind of magic is used for that? I'm sure Arc would be amazed."

Applejack huffed. "Well, ah appreciate that, but yer not suppose to eat these apples yet....though I don't see why not. They're gonna be free anyway. So. Whit's yer story?"

Silvanus looked at her with a completely confused expression. She wasn't even 1 year old yet, and the expression 'What's your story' was lost on her. "Uhm. I don't have a story, I've never written before..." She looked up at Applejack quizzically while shoving another apple in her mouth.

"That's the thing, though. There is no magic. It's just all technology again..." Luna sighs and shakes her head, "You know, if this keeps up unicorns will no longer have a place in this world. It'll all be technology!"

Silver chuckled. All of these things sounded impossible, but if this was a world where anypony could partake...

"What are these moving pictures like? What do they show?"

Dreamweaver Dreamweaver

"Umm....thanks?", Cassian his eyebrow, but decided to not let it bother him. It wasn't about impressing the Princess. It was about passing the test and he accomplished that in flying colors. Although, maybe he could try to do it cleaner next time.

After taking a moment to catch his breath from using all that magic, he quickly caught up to Princess Luna. He took a moment of silence to keep his composure from falling due to a bit of dizziness from the magic recoil.

"So anyway, to answer your question from earlier, I'm not from Equestria. I came from. The far west of you're land", he says, keeping his eyes forward on the path ahead.

"Oh I saw one where it was like... A pony running. So instead of just one picture showing a stallion mid-stride, it looked as if he was actually running on a patch of grass. It was pretty impressive!" She grinned a bit as they walked, "Then again, they're also working on adding sound to it. I heard that something called a 'romantic movie' came out but I don't really have time to go watch these things."

"Ooohhh yes. I know you're not from Equestria. That much is obvious." She said with a shake of her head. She knew that her words earlier had been harsh, but Luna didn't much care about how she came off to strangers. He had managed to successfully destroy a stone golem and that had slightly impressed her. Slightly. For that reason, she decided to allow him to continue further down into the cave with her. It was about time she checked up on the tree anyway. "Why are you here and not in your own land?"

Silver nodded. "I'm sure Arc would be very interested to see one of those, if he can pry himself away from his research. That is a heavy if." As he continued walking, he continuously found himself amazed by how much the world has changed. "What was the hardest change for you to adapt to, if I might ask?"

"Well....uh", he spoke with a slight reluctant stutter as his eye looked toward the ground with a solemn look in his eyes. For a moment, he went silent to find the right words. "I guess I just needed a change of scenery. Mainly a fresh new start", he spoke with honesty. Even though his words were true, his hesitation prevented him from telling his absolute true reason for coming to this land. But for now, he wanted to avoid that sensitive subject about his past and focus on his current objective. "But most of all, I'm looking for something. You see, my mentor was native to your land. She told me many histories, fables, and stories of your land when I was a hatchling. About you and your sister Princess Celestia. The elements of harmony. The return crystal empire. Basically everything that has happened up until you're last changling invasion. Which I'm glad to see you're all okay", he makes a quick genuine smirk at Luna before gazing back toward the path. He bring his arms back behind his head and continued his explanation," As amazing as those stories were, she never told me why she never wanted to go back. Or what her old life here was like......so That's what I'm here to find out".

He takes his his ring from out of his shirt and stares at its pulsing bluish green light. If Luna were to notice, it was an accessory ring for unicorns to wear around thier horns when they marry. "And after my findings in the everfree forest, I was lead here", he finished the end of his explanation.

Luna tapped a hoof to her chin as they walked, her brain scanning over all the things she had encountered in her 10 years back from banishment. After a moment she nodded and said, "... Probably the population, to be honest. When I was banished, we had much smaller numbers. It's hard to understand how we've grown so much... Ponyville didn't even exist before I was banished, now it's pretty big!"

Wylfen Shepard Wylfen Shepard
"That's interesting." Luna said with a nod of her head. Soon enough they reach the second door which lit up as they approached. Well, half of it lit up in the presence of that ring... The other half remained dim. "My two daughters each opened half last time we were here. Earth and water. We only have earth, it appears?" She says while motioning to the ring.

Cass looked down at his ring before he noticed a spot on the door pulsing in sync with the ring. He walks up to take a closer look. It looked like a grove of some kind. It's size seems to match that of his ring. So the young dragon gently puts the ring into the slot. Suddenly the ring's magic starts pulsating through the vine and wave carvings in the as it suddenly unhinged and opened. Cassian takes the ring back and looks down at it again. "I guess this acts not only as a beacon, but a key", he exclaimed looking back at the night princess

Princess Luna had seen things like this before, and nodded slightly when Cassian put the ring in the door. The first time she had been here, she had noticed the circular hole in the wall... And thought nothing of it! Now she knew why it was there. "Good job, Cassian. But the next test will be much harder." She says before continuing through that doorway to the next one below. Soon enough they came upon the final protective measure guarding the door; a massive vortex of water. It stretched for 20 feet down the hallway, with waters strong enough to tear a pony into pieces should they step foot inside.

Dreamweaver Dreamweaver

"I don't see how you would have even called that a test -.- ' ", the young dragon commented before following Luna to the final door.

"Okay, now that looks like it'll hurt O.O ", he comments at how fast the current was going. Spotting a rock, he kicks it into the current of the vortex. Only to see it zip and thrash around violently before it would be thrown back out by the current, zipping straight at the young dragon's head. It was a good thing his training and instincts enabled him to pick up on its movement before he quickly cranes his neck to the side. The stone, passed him and completly shatters into pebbles on the wall behind him. "Well....looks like my swimming lessons won't do any good here ^^' ", he joked with a nervous chuckle. Just then, the ring started to act up again. Only this time, Cassian felt of warm sensation coming from his right shoulder again. He let his instincts guide his hand as he held up the ring toward the raging watery tempest standing in his way. For a moment, nothing happened. That is until he tried something different. He concentrated on his magic, letting it flow into the ring. In that moment, a bright teal light flashed out of his hand. It engulfed the water vortex and it began to settle. The body of water opened up and revealed thier path.

"Wow....", Cassian looked down at his ring with awe.

Wylfen Shepard Wylfen Shepard
Princess Luna eyed the ring with a raised eyebrow. That ring was certainly a key, that much she had summed up. The way it separated the water was nothing short of incredible. "Be careful with that ring and don't lose it." Luna replied offhandedly, before making her way through the opened vortex. Soon enough the two of them once again found themselves in front of the Tree of Life and Luna looked over at Cassian with a frown. "There it is. This is what you wanted to see?"

Star gave a nod of understanding. "I do know what you mean. I'm usually given very vague descriptions of things people want built and then am left to figure out how to do it. Not very fun." She scratched the back of her head with her talons. "I'm Starstreak, chief engineer. I work directly under Princess Luna. And don't worry about it, it's understandable to be stressed out. I am, too, I'm just really good at dealing with it."

Redheart smiled. "Redheart. Ponyville General." She exhaled forcefully in a sigh. "I'm afraid I don't have nearly as flashy of a title as yours. I'm just a nurse." She growled a bit under her breath, adding "eight years of medical school and I get a nurse job."

Star smiled slightly. "Your profession is much more Noble than mine, though. Can't say the medical profession is my thing. I'm really good at engineering and science mostly." She said with a laugh. "If it helps at all, I was in shook for eight years and then mentored for two more. So I guess I was in shook for ten years. I guess I've just always had a knack for contraptions, gizmos and machines."
