Fantasy uncharted land

The guard only got his bearings just in time to be stabbed in the guts. His grip was very weak as his midsection bled out and he passed out with a sword in his stomach.

Sweating and panting after few minutes fight with the clueless beast, Running River knew they could waist even a second in yansi lands. He couldn't see were Great Owl had gone but it was better for them to move separately so he immediately ran toward the path going back to the fence but staid away from main road and sought shelter from trees. It had taken about half of a day to arrive at the city so he didn't slow his pace as first lights of dawn appeared or when sun rose from behind hills and mountains to eventually spread her warm fingers among branches of trees.

Great owl hid almost exclusively in the trees as to be away from any plantations who might want to enslave him and he avoided the beasts that usually came from the trees. By the time it was dawn, he had fallen asleep in some woodlands due to being so fatigued. He was around a half mile out from the broken fence snoozing beneath a ceder tree.

It was after noon when Running River could meet the chief. He was about to faint and fell on his knees, his face scratched by bushes and branches and his clothes tattered. It took him a while to talk after his comrades gave him water to drink. He told them everything had happened during the past day and night then looked among them more observantly. "But, Great Owl... he should've arrived before me. Where is he?" He asked and was shocked when heard that his partner hadn't arrived yet. "I've to find him..." He said firmly but fell as soon as got to his feet that were still shaking. "I can go after him. You are not able to do anything for now." Said Summer Sun who had returned from his mission yesterday. He looked at the chief to ask for his permission. "Shall I go and look for Great Owl?" He asked the elder man.

"Hmm" considered the chief as Great owl woke up in some forestry tired, fatigued and still possessing the calv's learning materials.

Running River waited for chief's answer as watching him with pleading eyes. (@_@)

While changing shifts of city's guards, yansis noticed that one of guards was missing. They found his dead body an hour later by the wall and regarding the hole, damaged bushes and the cadaver being stabbed in guts, they concluded that the murderer had been a fleeing male slave. The search to find a man began soon. They started from villages around the city and roads but it was going to take a long time as they had no clue to which direction the man had fled.

"Then I'll go to make sure he's not been left wounded or trapped on the way." Said Summer Sun. Running River thanked him by heart and instructed him about paths Great Owl might have chosen to return. Summer Sun chose the safest path and departed.

(Do you want GO to be noticed?)

(You make that call)

There was a spot where the forest diverged out to greenish yellow grassland and a village in the distance. He still kept what little cover he had being a distant from the main road.

During the time Great Owl had been sleeping, the news of murderer slave had been spread among villages. By the time he stepped into grass land, a group of guards appeared on the road, running from a village to the other to search for him. He could obviously see that they were three armed yansi in hurry.

Summer Sun passed through the first field of trees fast but slowed down after getting closer to the area near first sets of farms. He thought that if Great Owl be in trouble there might be signs or talks of him around villages so tried to pay more attention to signs and traces as he passed.

Upon seeing the guards, Great Owl would run back into the woods as to not be hunted by them. He climbed up a decently sized oak tree and began to take shelter in some of its highest branches.

Three armed yansi changed their way toward a village and disappeared in distance. At this time Summer Sun could see the grass field from thinner areas of the woods. He was reluctant to step out of shelter into broad light.

Great owl was silent untill he saw Summer sun walk beneath his tree "psst" he said gripping the higher branches.

Summer Sun heard a suspicious voice and looked up at the tree towering above his head. He recognized Great Owl sticking to upper branches. He looked around and climbed the tree as well, sitting on a lower branch he observed the scenery then looked above at the other man. "You're alive and safe... so good but what took you so long?"

"I see... simply..." Summer Sun said and watched their returning path. "Climb down. You cross the grassy field quickly and the rest of the way is safe. I'll watch the surroundings and imitate hawk's shirk if a yansi is nearby. If you lay on your belly the grass can cover you... and if didn't go well I have my bow here to hunt some beasts if necessary."

"Thanks" said Great owl climbing down the tree. He then walked down the woods before getting down on all fours and crawling through moderately high grass toward the main road.

Summer Sun climbed upper and watched the road and paths of villages. It happened a few times that he felt something moved in trees or among plants near the road but each time it was a small animal or a villager who changed his path away from them. By the way, Great Owl passed the grass field without trouble and it was his turn to pass. He climbed down and waved for him from far then got down to his elbows and crawled quickly toward the other side.

The grass was long enough to block Summer Sun's far vision. He moved inch by inch counting on his fate till crossed the field completely. The man stood up and sighed in relief. "It'll be easier since here. Let's go..." He said and walked ahead.

Great Owl got up and began following Summer Sun not knowing where the broken fence or even where he was supposed to get out of Yansi Territory.

Another half of hour walking and the two were finally out of woods. "Thankfully done with no trouble. Look, Running River is still sticking to the ground! He was like dead when arrived and talked to the chief." Summer Sun said as their were close enough to warrioirs' camp that he he could recognize them from each other.

"I want to hear everything from you too. Let's meet the chief first." Saying this, Summer Sun took Great Owl to chief. "Found him safe and sound!" He told the elder.

"And I have a lot to tell the both of you" said Great Owl getting out the Yansi Calve's literacy learning materials.
