Realistic or Modern The Illustrious

AkuTheWolfOkami

The Shape-shifting Master of Goatees and Darkness

The Illustrious

Oh what a gift it was! Newnan, Georgia, the relatively small town 40 minutes south of Atlanta, was unusually busy. Roads became blocked, traffic so bad it seemed like it belonged further North up 85. It was a confusing site for the locals...unless you looked a little closer.

With a little closer inspection you could see the young faces fresh out of high school. Puppies who were still wet behind the ears. Oh, joy it was the annual holiday of Freshman Move-In at Dubois. This meant an influx of college kids from all over the country, and a tonne from a few miles up the interstate. Those who hadn't chose Dubois, probably chose one of the schools in the AUC. No matter, it was a family regardless.

Near the dorms stood a bunch of upperclassmen, including one particular. Wearing a white dress and black heels, stood a woman in the middle of the courtyard in front of the freshman dorms. Next to her a table, with a few others sitting, t-shirts and lanyards on top of the tables. There was also a sign-in sheet. A few speakers were set up around them, and in the girl's hand was a microphone.

The girl herself was extremely gorgeous. Straight jet black hair, reaching below her bust, body slim and curvy, smile white and big. Eyes that could capture your spirit, she seemed to hold the whole package. She took in a deep breath and began to speak,"Welcome Class of 2021 to the campus hidden in the forest! Dubois University. We are glad to see you making your and moving in. Just tell the move-in helpers your name and dorm number, and they'll help you get your stuff there. When you're done, make sure to come sign-in so we can get your a schedule of events, a t-shirt and a lanyard. Once you've signed in, I suggest you staying in your dorms and getting set up because at 5, we're all headed our separate ways. We have a lot of events planned for the week, and I promise you this won't be the last you see of your parents...."

That's how the first day would go. The first night saw the students (separated into male and females) learning the long history of the school. The second day, was the presenting of the Dubois torch. Alumni would pass on the symbolic torches (candles) to the students, and if you were legacy, whoever had graduated here would pass you your's. Then the third day came, that Friday. The parent send-off. A large presentation into showing your parents that this was your journey into adulthood, and that you were no longer children....

That brought us to Saturday. The day the men and women would be mixed back together. The day every little thirst bucket and socialite was salivating for. The brother-sister exchange and Olive Branch.

The brother-sister exchange was borrowed from Morehouse and Spelman. Dubois had always had their freshman dorms split up and had strict visitation rules (they wanted you to not be distracted as freshmen) but the brother sister exchange? They saw how well it worked for them, and noted the freshman were setup for it and went with it. The boys would wear their black suits, the upperclassmen helping getting their appearance together. The girls would wear their white dresses, and the upperclasmen would help them get their make up and fittings in order.

It was an extravagant event, but not everyone was happy with their sibling. "She ugly." Ugh, he's a nerd." "He's so lame..."

Now Olive Branch was the real draw. It was started by the AUC, they would give all their new students basically a party in the gym, and let them all mingle and meet after being separated all week. This party include games, a concert, and a DJ. This was the chance to go grab college bae...well freshman Bae. Let your inner thot out baby girl.

Dubois took this idea, and now there are three olive branches. The third is a mixture of Dubois and the AUC, but occurs the Saturday after classes start....

So tonight? At this moment? Was Dubois's Olive Branch and right now...that gym was poppin'. Local DJ, and CAU Alum DJ Drama was the guest DJ. The concert had the line up of 6lack, August Alsina, and Young Dolph along with a few smaller acts.

Looks like our freshmen were in for a good night...right?

The Index of the Illustrious.

Going to college is one thing, plenty of people wish to experience in their lifetimes. It’s a time to open new doors, make new friends, find the love of your life, and just… Find yourself. But what isn’t always talked about is how important the choosing of the college is. Sure one could go to Princeton, Yale, Harvard, or Drexel… But even out of those schools, there is one that is not only equal to them but excels way above what they were and ever could be.

Dubbed ‘The Campus in the Trees’, Dubois University is here and ready to make itself known. Being the country’s best in basketball, being in top ranks of Law, Business, Computer Science, and Engineering, this school is nothing but the best and those within it have been nicknamed ‘The Illustrious’. Oh, did we forget to mention it’s an HBCU?

With over 15,000 students, while it may paramount those who try to take it down, it doesn’t mean it isn’t filled with drama. From friends to frenemies, baes to hurt baes, baby mommas and baby daddies, there isn’t a dull moment on campus.

It’s now a new year and the new freshmen have finally arrived- ready to take on the school and earn the title of being ‘illustrious’. The only question is- How far are they willing to go to get it?

Jaeson A. Brinson and Sebastian Cortell

Jae had remained silent as he stuffed his hands deep into the pockets of his ‘tiny’ jeans. They were a faded denim blue, covered with holes and tears that at some places were hard to distinguish if it had been on purpose or not. The grey Olive Branch shirt that tugged tightly on his body seemed a size too small, but he had miscalculated the size cuts in America vs in Canada. His eyes were fixed on his Oreo 4s, fixated on their black and white contrast,”I never noticed how big my feet were until I just forced myself to stare at them….Just now..” he muttered mostly to himself, as he took his long strides in the group.
ZyJ9.jpg

Sebastian who had been lost in his own world was brought back by the words that had been spoken from his roommate. Dark brown eyes slid over to look at the speaker, a small grin playing at his lips. He wasn’t dressed in the same fashion, having opted for a casual short-sleeve button down and some nice jeans. His shoes would be a pair of black converse. His favorite.

“Well,” He’d start off, letting his eyes veer towards some lovely young women not too far away from the two. “You do know what they say about people with big feet. Men in particular.”

He hadn’t realized he had been heard, so his head slowly shifted to face Sebastian’s but followed his glance onto a couple of the women he had locked onto. He managed to rub his chin as he took a look to them,”Big feet big…” he trailed off as he lost his attention staring at the women,”Look at di batty on the tings dur’, not in Canada no more…”

Sebastian would make a noise that was between a snort and a laugh. “What in the world are you saying man? I must say if that’s how you flirt then I’m curious to see how the ladies respond.” He’d finally look around, watching as all the freshmen around them walked in the same direction. They seemed like cows, sheep, a herd. It amused him.
-jOklW6U.jpg

Jae sort of chuckled himself when Sebastian seemed amused and lost at his slang. He had forgotten that he was in America for a brief second (despite pointing it out),”Just sayin’ get me one of these tings and I’m blessed. It’s some beautiful girls here, and they’re so different than in Brampton.” and when he looked up they were pushing through the open doors,”It’s about time to finally talk to some ladies, yeah?”

“Don’t gotta tell me twice.” Sebastian would respond, already zeroing in on a pair of ladies he would consider to be fine wine. He’d tap Jae nonchalantly, pointing his head toward his first target before finally walking towards them. He wouldn’t have to look back to see if Jae was following. What lust-filled young man wouldn’t want to talk to some fine jawns?

Eliza presses her mind, trying to to recall a time in which she felt as much energy in a single room as she does in the gym she's standing in. The excited chatter of the freshmen to the school in the trees, blends with the loud music that wasn't at all her taste, but she bobs her head along to it anyway, her long dreads swinging offbeat to the rhythm as she does so.

The stories told of, "The Campus in the Trees." fail to do it much justice. DuBois just wasn't one of those places you could describe in words. It has to be seen. It has to be experienced. She adjusts the hat on her head, tilting the brim slightly as she heads into the gym, pursing her plum colored lips in anticipation. She'd spent hours preparing herself for this day, leaving her side of the dorm looking like a tornado had gone through it. She'd finally decided on the yellow crochet halter top that she swore gave her good luck and a pair of shorts. Her black ankle boots give her already tall figure an extra boost in height as moves further into the gym with the other students, a light bounce in her step. It's only now that she takes the time to observe her peers, trying to seek out someone she was willing to break out from the herd for. Surrounding her are an array of people from all walks of life. People of all colors and sizes surround her. Some girls with their hair in big curls, other with them straight. Some dressed to the nines, and other looking as if they've thrown on whatever they could find. And in the midst of it all is her. And for the first time in a lone time, she feels like she belongs. Just like that, she already feels like she has a place in DuBois. And in the midst of it all is her. Just a small small sprout in the garden of wildflowers, different, but still belonging. She continues to let her gaze drift around, not far into her searching when she noticed a couple of boys wasting no time in the quest for what they were really interested in doing.

She snorts at their an antics despite her gaze lingering on them a bit too long. She only stops staring at the two when she almost runs into someone, one foot getting in the way of the other as she stumbles slightly. She tries to recover smoothly, putting her hair back in place and readjusting her hat on her head, as she clears her throat. "You're cool, Liza you're totally cool. They probably didn't even see you staring because they were looking at the hot girls. All you have to do now is stop talking to yourself and it'll be smooth sailing from here on out."

After stealing another glance at the two boys, She puffs out a breath and putting on a confidant smile as she moves further into the gym, this time without stumbling, and hoping that she can do the same thing through out the rest of day.

Kinni
"I slay, call me King Arthur."

"I went to Spelman..."
"I know mom..."
"I was a poodle..."
I know mom..."

Kinni seemed to have nothing in common with her mother. If her mother was the sun, she was the moon. If her mother was the sky, she was the ground. Her mother was a decorated Navy fighter pilot and sometimes there seemed to be a world of difference between the two...she was more her father than her mother.

Her dark eyes stared into the mirror, as they glanced back at her. A brush crossed her face, a pencil here, some foundation there...A coat of lip balm was the primer, and soon a coat of bright red lipstick painted her lips. A few fingers in her hair, and a couple of tugs was next. She glanced at the grey olive branch shirt she modified with a pair of scissors, before neatly placing the black hat on her head. With a readjusting of the black jeans that hugged her body tightly, she looked over to her roommate before offering a smile.

Next, came a pair of black boots that stopped a little over her ankle. It wasn't long before those same boots found their way on to the grass and concrete of the campus. A long caramel arm was extended, attached to it the latest iphone in a case that seemed to be a fluid denim design, with a few cards stuck in the wallet part.

"Aloha Snap. It's Kinni, stuntin' with my freedom ready to go ni--- fishing." her voice rang as she recorded a snap, before sliding her thumb across the screen and typing in 'Call me Nicki, y'all hoes can't even spell DuBois.' before she posted it into her feed. A quick glance and her heart started to flutter and she took in all of the specimens before hand. Oh. What. A. Blessing. Du. Bois. WAS. The Kings that walked this campus.....fffffff......

She took a minute and bit her lips as she glanced around, before music started to get to her ears, immediately causing her to bounce a bit ready to dance. It wouldn't be long before she was through the double doors, pass the box office and onto the gym floor with the hundreds or couple thousands of other students.

She nodded her head a bit to the music, a bit to her inner thoughts as she held her phone up to once again put the scene on SnapChat. When she brought the phone to her hand she slid it over to get the "Olive Branch at DuBois filter", and sighed as she posted it. Soon as she looked up from her phone she noted two gentleman in particular. She breathed a bit deeply as she noted the height of one, and slowly her cheeks began to blush read. One of them was the international student 'Jae' who had come to play basketball for DuBois for a year. She didn't know anything about the guy he was with, but he was scrumptious looking ...either way, if she was going to catch one of them she was sure she'd need back up.

"FUCK..." she muttered as she glanced around. She had made friends during NSO, and Cheerleading orientation, but none could be found at the moment..we at least she couldn't see them...all she needed was one more girl to join her and they could get a couple of catches.....or maybe she would fly it solo and try to to find a dude who was solo....

Justin Cap Mackins- Brinson

A noise of boredom would escape another young man amongst the large crowds of freshmen. This one would be Justin Cap, otherwise known as JC. JC had been happy to get away from his parents for the moment, quickly pushing them out of his new dorm room when he had the chance. They had helped out sure, but it had also been spent with giving him lecture after lecture on what he should do in school and what he shouldn’t. Why he couldn’t do certain things and why others behaviors of his wouldn’t be tolerated. They hadn’t even stopped when his roommate came through the door. So to be free of them was euphoric.

saudin
But now he had to stand around in the gym listening to some music (which he would admit, was pretty lit) and watching certain people act like a fool. But besides that, there were two things that seemed to bother him even more. The first was the realization that he now had to make a new set of friends aside from the ones he'd gotten in high school. This was a challenge all in itself as not many people liked his type of personality. The second? He was fucking hungry and he didn't see any food anywhere.

So of course JC would begin his journey to find some food, whether it be some actual food or something from a vending machine. He'd squeezed past people and take a moment to look around when a certain locked beauty caught his eye. She was certainly staring pretty hard at something and when he followed it he would see his cousin with another guy. Of course, someone would be staring at him. So it would only be funny when he'd watch her stumble.

"Might wanna watch where you're going." He'd call out to her as he began walking towards her. "Trust me though, the wanna be Drake you were staring at? Aint worth it." He'd snicker afterward, continuing to walk as he looked for food.

So far he hadn't found a thing and he could feel himself growing slightly grumpy over that. He wanted to eat dammit. He was ready to sneak out and go back to his room. Break out the Ramen Noodles already. JC had been seriously considering it when he almost collided with another girl who seemed to be looking around herself. He'd quickly maneuver around her to keep from causing a disaster before turning to give her a glance.

"My bad shawty," He'd say to her, giving a small nod as a frown came to his face. Though in his mind he was more annoyed with the fact that she was in the way in the first place.

D'Angelo Thompson and Kai Exum

D'Angelo had just got off of the phone with his mum who'd been very worried about the trip he had to make before reaching Dubois. His silver Dodge Charger SRT 2008 had been safely parked in the University Garage, tucked into Parking lot 3, letter K. Lo adjusted his leather black jacket, having wore it and a white undershirt beneath it. His red and black Air Jordan 12's had been the attention of the students since he'd entered the school though right now he remained in the safe haven of his dorm room. His luggage lay sprawled across his bed as Lo got up from the chair he'd just been sitting on. D'Angelo dropped his phone onto his nightstand as he began to sort through the mess on his bed, before a voice echoed behind him.
tumblr_inline_nr3e6cITxc1rooebp_500.gif

Kai grinned at his roommate as he greeted the man with a "hi." Whoever he was, he definitely towered over Kai who sat at a stunting 5'8. "I'm Kai, your roommate." Kai was a pale-skinned man with spiky jet black hair. His eyes sported the stereotypical Chinese curve paired with the black hair. D'Angelo turned to face a young man that stood underneath him. He was already smiling which made D'Angelo smile at the man that reminded him much of himself. "Hey, partner." He replied, giving Kai an apologetic smile as he turned back to his clothes. "Lo."

Kai nodded as he sat onto the chair D'Angelo once sat on. "I'm a sophomore by the way, you? I haven't seen you much around here." D'Angelo turned to face the scrawny Asian boy, giving him a nod. "I'm new, a freshman I guess." He replied, still sorting through the clothing and items that lay on his bed.
Hornets-Hawks-Basketball.jpeg

Kai chuckled, shaking his head. "Figured." He retreated to his phone now, checking something on his phone before D'Angelo did the same as he'd done to him and interrupted his train of thought. "So, how's the school? What's it like, I'm sure you've got some first-hand experience." D'Angelo just wanted to talk to the guy, he would be spending the rest of his school year with Kai anyways.

Kai shrugged his shoulders, placing a finger on his lip. "Just stay out of trouble. For people your size, you'll get too much hate in a fight."

He let out a short chuckle, acknowledging that he'd heard Kai's advice. "I'll try." He joked, before turning around and out of his dorm room.

Bridgette Stephany

Welcome to the campus hidden within the forest, Dubois! Fun! Well it would be fun if not for the fact that she's currently struggling to breath while squeezing herself through a bunch of freshman sardines. Does these people think that she just slapped some makeup on her face just to suffer? To be devoid of breathing!?

Once finally free from the raging crowds she somehow managed to be in the middle of, Bridgette was now able to inhale fresh air. This was all Yale and Harvard's fault. They let a golden fish slip away from their greasy hands and now she's in the middle of a forest.

Nonetheless, this was it. She's now a freshman. Like a duckling who had just figured out how to get out of her cracked shell. The only difference she has is that she's a fabulous duckling. Unlike that woman who stumbled into two men ungracefully.

The spoiled brat found herself rolling her eyes before she searched around for the gym briefly since the amount of people going into it's direction was basically a dead giveaway. With her expensive and pompous heels clicking every single time she takes a step, the as-pompous girl entered the gym, hoping that doing so would brighten her grumpy mood.

Maui Casavas
85ed098e509f10ea0ad16edf38d0cb9a.jpg
Maui wasn't sure when it happened or necessarily how it happened but she found herself surrounded by athletes, males mainly, who were asking her question after question. She was smiling her large bright smile, her eyes looking and taking in the features of those around her, and her voice trying to chirp in when she had the chance. Unlike most students, Maui actually got to the school ahead of time so she could get to know the coaches she would be working with as well as the athletes. Since football season came first, she had to be present at every event, especially practice. It was long hours in the sun surrounded by sweaty immature guys who always hit on her. She may be from another country, but Maui wasn't born yesterday.

"Maui! Maui! They don't think you're from another country! Tell them you are! Man, Maui's my best friend!" a guy yelled out and Maui felt herself being pulled under his arm. She looked up, some of her long hair falling from her face. She noted that it was Rod Johnson, the running back whom usually hit on her and asked her to sit with him when they ate. He was usually the center of the attention since he was funny and liked to dance and usually had a crowd following him like he was some kind of king. Maui didn't mind him because she knew he was only messing with her. She found that most of the athletes never really had a "girlfriend". They usually had a number of girls on a line and liked to add more every time they saw a female.

"Ah, sorry, Rod. I'm going to grab a water." she smiled at him, pulling his arm off of her and earning a crowd of "oooohh!" from the others. Maui made her way past the others, walking to a table where a small crowd of coolers and a couple people stood. She smiled at a female as she grabbed a water, opening it and deciding to hang back instead of go to the group of guys.

Maui walked to the bleachers, finding a seat by herself and sitting down. She pulled her backpack into her lap and grabbed her small notebook and pencil from it, crossing her legs and writing in it. Honestly, Maui had met a good number of people since coming to Dubois. While most students were here with their parents, Maui came alone. Her parents could only afford to send her so she had to say all of her goodbyes early and face this new country and school by herself. But she was okay with that. She would have nothing more than to be at this school. The culture, the liveliness, the things she could learn that she never could have back home. For her, the possibilities were endless and she couldn't wait for the next four years to come.

Maui looked up to see more students piling in, one after the other. The thing that caught her eyes was the fact that there were others of different races such as herself. She wondered if they were here for the same reasons that she was. Who knows. Maybe she could befriend them. Maui decided that she would sit in the bleachers and finish her water before going back onto the floor and meeting more people.

Sebastian Cortell

While the beautiful queens Sebastian had been talking to with Jae were interesting, his interest with them had fizzled out. There were so many other people around them and he didn't want to be tied down just talking to one person. Not yet at least. He wanted to go around and talk to as many people as he could. That way it would be pretty fun. He'd get to know people. Make connections. Network.

But he couldn't lie to himself. It was also his way of making his next sensual seduction list.

ZyJ9.jpg
He'd tapped Jae's shoulder, giving him a nod of goodbye before moving away from the small group to go find others. This was something he'd done, talking to this person or that group or maybe even another handful. So far each and every one of them had been pretty cool and he'd already gotten plenty of numbers from some very fine wine ladies and a cute guy or two. They may not have said they were interested but Sebastian was very familiar with the certain twinkle in their eyes. They didn't have to voice it. Their bodies said enough.

But Sebastian would save that for another day. He still had more people to add to his list. Speaking of lists...

The young man would already be making his way to his next target, his eyes giving the female a once over. Cute face, braids, and she seemed to have a lovely shape as well. He would need to see more clothes off, however, to be completely sure...

"Excuse me miss," Sebastian would speak up once he was close enough, showing a dazzling smile. "Couldn't help but notice you alone. I thought you could use some company?"

"I slay, call me King Arthur."

In her search for a familiar face, someone to join up with her. It seemed all for naught. For the life of her, she could not find anyone she could stand that would do well with her in this situation. This caused her to space out, as she would become unaware of her surroundings. It was dizzying really. Being around so many people, so many people like her..so many people so different. She reached for her wrist and began to rub on the tattoo that her grandmother did herself, in the traditional way. It gave her comfort and made her feel connected to her, despite being thousands of miles away.

Unfortunately her comfort was ruined when someone decided to run their little behind into her bubble. They hadn't touched her, thankfully, and she would have let it be had she not heard the word 'shawty'. She was no stranger to the jargon, her mother kept her kids in Atlanta with her family when she was deployed. She seemed to always be deployed....but nonetheless. She hated that word to her core. So with the quickness of a striking cobra, and the malice of threatened wolf she bared her fangs...

"First of all, I ain't ya shawty...Second of all, watch where the fuck you're going okole puka (kinda like asshole)," she muttered sucking the air between her teeth, and marching off in the opposite direction her little black boots inaudible among the noise of the crowd despite the stomps of frustration and anger that emitted from the taller girl.

She could check that off of her list, there were still FUCKING DICKHEADS in college not much different than High School, but what could she expect, it's the same negros that were just in high school last week.

Justin Cap Mackins- Brinson

Now Justin was pretty damn sure that he'd been nice. He hadn't given an intimidating look. His words weren't harsh. His tone was cordial. Hell, he'd even given her a nod. A fucking nod. And she had responded like that?
CdFySTsXEAAINyz.jpg
JC blinked, his head tilting to the side just a tad bit as a smile came to his face. His expression was one of disbelief.

"Did. This. Female. Dog. Just. Snap. At. Me? Of all people?" He wondered to himself, those dark eyes of his following the petite figure as she stomped away. Oh, so she thought this was done and over? She was gonna play little miss hussy and walk away like that? Nah.

"Hold up female!" JC would call after her, easily using his strides to catch up to her before whipping around to stop in front of her. "One thing you're not going to do is be a stuck up bitch. Now I can understand not wanting to be called shawty. That's fine whatever. You can't hang with the slang- cool, your loss. But you could have done it politely. I wasn't tryna be sexual or flirtatious. You ain't that fucking cute."

He'd crack his fingers, his eyes on her as his eyebrows furrowed and his expression turned just a bit darker. "I didn't even touch you and yet I apologized. But you gon' stand there and pop off?" JC laughed harshly. "You need to take several seats. What, you just get some new weave? Making you feel confident enough to try it today? If it's like that then let me retract my apology. Move out my fucking way and don't get in it again. There, is that better?"

"Beard-God."

Everything was going pretty easy for the night. Sebastian and Jae had been chatting up the ladies, making moves, getting the numbers. It was simple as it should have been expected. They weren't exactly dweebs, and they kind of had a lot going for them visually. Despite the irritation of the large crowd they were stuffed in the middle of, there really wasn't much in the way of obstacles. It would become time for the two part, as expected, but unlike his counterpart Jae really didn't have a big interest in continuing his fraternizing. To be honest, it was a bit much. He had garnered extra attention purely off his height alone (he towered over most people in the gym, especially women), and then some people finally realized who he was and gave him even more unwarranted attention. It all probably made Sebastian's job a little easier, but it was enough for Jae.

He needed an escape, and as the night wore on the lights were dimming as they prepared for their first performance. He didn't really care too much to be around when they started bringing out celebrities so he found himself bouncing up into the bleachers. At first, it was in search to find isolation, but someone he had met before caught his eye. It was that international student..the one with the accent. The one who he had run into at some of the athletes meetings, but hadn't really gotten much time to talk to because freshman events. He was sure she didn't need company, but he figured it couldn't hurt.

So with a good smile he found himself next to her, but with enough space between them he wouldn't be in her personal bubble. He looked awkwardly around as if he was purposely avoid her face, but in a comedic manner,"Yo...Yoooo..Maui. I heard you got that good H20 for the low...." he moved a hand across his nose as he sniffled, imitating a crack fiend,"I'm tryna get some of that dope ass H20 you got. I heard it make you see birds and flamingos. Which are really just pink birds with long ass legs. You know, so they like..mutant birds that ..that..like, got legs and shit. Yeah I heard you got that good stuff.." he finally turned to her and smiled, hoping that she'd get hi joke and he wouldn't just look like a weirdo.

When she had to stop, because JC decided that his pride was hurt and needed the last word, she rubbed her eyebrow careful to not mess up her make up, before taking in a deep breath and looked to the ceiling,"poho..poho..poho...(essentially meaning a waste of time.)" She took in several deep breaths, letting him say what he wanted to say. Letting him get every last word out that he needed. Rolling her eyes here and there, tapping her foot as she tried to curve her anger. So when she was finally sure he was done, she glared at him,"You done throwing your tantrum, little ass boy? Ok Good. So listen."

She readjusted her weight and took a more stern stance. She looked at him right in the eyes,"First of all, little ass boy. I ain't ya mama, so watch how you talk to me. I ain't none of these other FEMALES as you like to fucking say, neither, i'll fucking punch you in the throat and i know you ain't lolo enough to raise ya' fist at me. If you don't get yo ass back and find a little happy ass bitch to play with."

She laughed again shaking her head,"Boy you lost your mind, you is lolo. Don't follow me like that no more. Go foa the seats, and sit down. 'Weave'. Negro 'cos yo mama bal-.....man get out my face. We pau." at this point she was clapping her hands together, trying to keep herself calm. This was the first week of classes, she had shit to do, and ain't have time for anything like this. This arrogant person in front of her was driving her insane, and she just wanted to shred him to pieces.

So with one of her fist clutched, and a crack of her neck, she once again made an effort to get away from him. Her thumbs fiddling on her phone already typing up a text message to her friends from back home. If Jacobi was to get word about this, he would have ridden the 40 minutes from Atlanta and caused some problems. But she could handle herself, she didn't need her older brother anymore.

Continuing on like nothing had happened, Eliza continues forward. A voice calls out to her and she turns her head to find a tall boy approaching her. She snorts at his snide remark as a small smile forms on her face. "Yeah, because who needs to look in front of them walk. Not me." She peaks an eyebrow, and glances back over at the pair of boys wondering which one he was calling "Wannabe Drake," tilting her head to the side with a little hum of confusion. She watches as the boy walks off again, unable to suppress a snort as he collides with another girl who instantly snaps back at him before stomping away with him in a tow throwing a few choice words back at her.

She can't help the second snort that escapes her nor the smile that forms on her lips. "Damn. It's like I never even left Detroit," She says to herself, slinging her small backpack around to dig around for the poptart she'd stashed inside before rushing out of her dorm. The movement prompts a chorus of jingles to erupt from her zipper where she keeps all her prized key-chains. A clutter of her favorite logos and characters, tangle together in a mess as she unzips her backpack, digging around in her bag.

After a few seconds of searching, her eyes finally fall upon the foil wrapper that stands between her and a somewhat full stomach. She glances around the gym again at all the new patrons as she takes a bite from her snack, a few lucky crumbs escaping her mouth and falling down onto her shirt and hair. The chatter still buzzes in her ears and the music still sending vibrations through her body.

She takes another glance around the gym and sees more faces, it was as though more appear every time she blinks. Where to begin...she looks over at the tall boy who'd spoke to her and the smaller girl who'd snapped at him. She knew for sure where not to begin. As she ponders who she wants to approach, a new voice speaks from behind her, and she whips around with piece of her poptart still sticking from her mouth.

"Excuse me miss, "Couldn't help but notice you alone. I thought you could use some company?"

It was one of the boys she'd been ogling moments ago, and no he stood before her. Talking to her. She blinks in surprise and looks around, checking behind her to make sure she was the one who was speaking to. Even though he'd been right about her being alone. She turns back to him, staring for a few moments. Embarrassment begins to creep up but she reminds herself she's only human. She wonders if she could say the same for the boy standing in front of her. Sable skin that's much deeper than her own, and dark brown eyes to match, making the smile he gave her seem even brighter..

She blinks and quickly swallows the pop-tart in her mouth, not minding the crumbs on her shirt and in her hair as she nods to the boy. "Yeah dude, that's cool. I had no clue where to start mingling," She says smiling as she tips her hat to him, with a fluttering laugh. She extends her hand, before retracting it, brushing it off some more crumbs on her shorts and then extending it towards him, again, her bracelets shifting on her wrists. "Name's Elizabeth, you can call me anytime though."

Her face falls and she shakes her head, flustered as she fumbles for a recovery. "Shit. Eliza! I mean you can call me Eliza if you like...ever decide to talk to me again after that." She says with a nervous laugh.

D'Angelo Thompson

superthumb.jpg

D'Angelo descended down the prestine stairs of Dubois, taking a moment ever so often to admire the works of art that hung on the walls. Landscapes, self-portraits, even abstract pieces were on display for the young folk who resided in the Campus hidden within the Forest. As if that wasn't enough, even more trophies, not just for sports remained on the walls in large glass cases. Academics and sports all seemed to be included, this school definitely wasn't joking. After what felt like hours looking at the art, Lo had finally arrived on the first floor and continued into the gym for the opening assembly(?).

As he approached the gym doors, D'Angelo had been swarmed by a large crowd of students as they each swarmed into the gym. The sudden rush stunned Lo for a moment as he relieved it in a short laugh, making himself look very odd in the midst of the other students. Anyways, he'd found his way into the gymnasium before taking a quick glance around for some empty seats in the bleachers. Lo continued down the sidelines, glancing about before his eyes fellow upon Maui and Jae. Jae was a good friend of his though Maui he didn't know and so he figured taking a seat over there would be best.

D'Angelo ascended the bleachers, pardoning himself every time he accidentally stepped on someone during this journey. He'd finally made it to the top, adjusting his leather jacket and white top before making his way to the empty seat by Jae. "Is he bothering you?" He asked Maui with a smirk before glancing back at Jae. The two exchanged their famous handshake, most often done on the court before D'Angelo himself took a seat. "I'm sure I can teach him some manners or two." He added with a soft chuckle. "The name's Lo by the way."

Sebastian Cortell

Sebastian would wait patiently, watching as the young woman before he looked this way and that. An eyebrow of his would raise in response, wondering just what was going through her head for her to do that. Did she think he wasn’t talking to her? Maybe checking around to make sure he was. He could understand, that would certainly be embarrassing if he had been talking to someone else and she responded.

She’d finally respond after a moment and Sebastian would nod in agreement as his smile turns into a slight grin at the sight of her tipping her hat. Ha. That was cute.

He would get ready to shake her hand, only pausing for a moment when she retracted it to wipe away at her clothes. Then with that, he’d shake it. Though the next words to come out of her mouth would be a surprise to him.

ZyJ9.jpg
He wouldn’t be able to help it and would find himself giving her a laugh in response, truly amused by what she was saying. His other hand would raise to his mouth for a moment, as he shook his head. She was really amusing. It was official, he had to get to know her.

"Oh, I most certainly would love to continue having conversations with you if you would have me, Eliza." He responded, giving a small chuckle. "I wouldn't mind having your number either. Much easier to keep in contact that way, don't ya think? My name's Sebastian by the way. Pleasure to meet you."

When they would finish the handshake, Sebastian would glance up at the sudden dimming of the lights, curious as to what was about to happen next. "Well, looks like they got a surprise for us. Wonder what it could be. I hope it'll be a good one though. If not I just might have to skip out and find some actual fun." Sebastian looked back at Elizabeth, a mischievous twinkle in his eye. "Would you skip with me? Promise it'll be fun." Just for giggles, Sebastian would take that time to give her a wink.

I ain't do no coding, blame juju. This a collab with Aster Sapphire Aster Sapphire , I present to you... Dakota and Hakeem.... ROUND OF APPLAUSE , BABY MAKE THAT ASS CLAP

The walkover from the Girl's Freshman dorm had been annoying. The freshmen girls had been irritating with their chatter, and high school antics. It was so cringe worthy that it sent a chill down Dakota's spine as she marched over towards the gym, a group of freshman girls in tow. She wore the olive branch chaperone shirt, the only difference from the student's shirt being that it was actually olive green. As her feet carried her to the doors of the gym, and she opened them her ears were immediately hit with loud music. A few more steps pass concessions, and through the doors to the gym floor her eyes could finally see the large mass of students.

Run. Nothing screams the word louder than the sight of Dakota with a tour group of freshman college girls joining an even larger group of freshmen. He had to wonder if they were better off than his group. The freshman boys who could hardly stop drooling over the girls on campus long enough to focus on anything he was saying. He glanced down at the olive green shirt he wore as if hoping it would give him strength in some way as he escorted his group into the gym where a large number of students awaited. Their loud chatter, hooting laughter and blaring music making his ears grind.

At least Dakota was there, he thought as bought his group into the gym adding even more to the noise level.

Oh how did she get into volunteering for this. She could barely stand some of her own teammates, and they were far more mature than the lot of the girls that had been prancing around the gym. She even saw some of the freshmen players, and made note to destroy them in practice to sober them up real quickly. She only rolled her eyes before she finally saw an escape. "Hakeem," she muttered to herself, readjusted her shirt as she skipped in her skin tight jeans over to him and poked him,"What's good homie?"

Hakeem sighs in relief as Dakota approaches him. "Man, ain't nothing good right now. You know how many times I had to tell these fools to quit hollering at the girls in the quad and keep with the damn group?" He looked over the girls she'd just walked in with a short. "How you holding up?"

"You know me," she said biting her lips,"I barely like people my age, I want to punch all of the freshmen girls in their throat. On the bright side..." she said bouncing up and down on the heels of her sneakers. There was a large gap in their height, despite Dakota herself being 5'11, but it didn't matter. Dakota stood like she was 7'0. "On the bright side, I heard 6lack was performing tonight. I didn't get this as a freshman at Kansas."

A rare smile forms on Hakeem's face as he chuckles at Dakota, shaking his head as he she. "Yeah well we only got," He checked his watch. "Aw hell... least we won't have to see them too much after this." He watched as she bounced up and down and sighed, "You have too much damn energy." His raised an eyebrow when she mentioned the performance. "Oh word? Sounds like a nice way to wind down. I haven't been to a concert or anything like that in-" he began to try and calculate how long it'd been since the last time he indulged in any kind of fun. Eventually he gave up and shrugged. "Sounds like fun."

"Yeah papi, we need to get you to loosen up tonight," she said with a gentle smile and looked him over,"We really ain't got much else to do, but be here, so really we can have as much fun as we want. Dance a little.." Dakota looked the taller male over as she began to bend over and twerk a little before laughing and looking to him,"But for real. Let's have a little fun..and then we can go back to our usual selves..."

Hakeem cringes, scrunching up his face at the nickname he was given. "You know told you to quit calling me, Papi!" He sighs, looking over at Dakota as he twerks and sighs. "You do too much sometimes, you know that?" Though his mind drifts back to who he used to be, who they used to be. He purses his lips in thought. "I guess...I guess it wouldn't hurt to kick it for a little. I ain't dancing though."

She laughed,"Fine fine, I won't call you papi. I'll call you zaddy instead. Kidding, Hakeem," she said with another laugh before taking in a deep breath,"Alright fine. You don't have to dance, pero...I better not see you scowling. Come on, let's go play one of these carnival game or something. See if I can win you a prize before the concert start. You know my jumper A1." She smiled and grabbed for his hand come,"Let's gooo."

If his skin weren't so brown, it would have turned the color of a stop sign as Dakota laughed. "See, this is why I can't stand your ass, and I don't scowl. It's just my face." He pushes off the wall he was leaning against, and sighs as he takes her hand. "Yeah let's go find something else for you to put all your energy into. What do you mean win ME something? I don't want anything from there. I'll win YOU something."

She managed to shake her head,"Whatever you say hermano, let's just see how this goes. Oh which reminds me, are you busy next weekend?"

"You know I'm never busy. Just hitting up the gym." He raises an eyebrow at her skeptically. "Why, what are you going to be up to that soon? Aren't we already doing something tonight?"

"Well you already be MIA for football practice, and when school starts boom...you gone.." she said sighing, and shrugging,"Then when I started basketball practice, the only time we'll see each other is in the gym...."

Dakota looked around and pointed to one of the carnival games, a basketball game. She skipped a bit, and turned to Hakeem,"And this doesn't count, this is for kids. We are going to go have a drink or something. You know, grown up shit."

"I know, I'm trying to get everything back on track but it's just...well you know how it is," He says, staring down at the floor as he shoves his hands down in his pockets. He glances over at Dakota again, the one person who'd been by his side through all of this when he truly didn't deserve for anyone to have his back.

He peaks an eyebrow and nods. "I will say some drinks don't sound bad at all." He snorts at her wording, "for the kids." He looks over the crowd of freshman again. As annoying at they'd been he feels a wave of nostalgia wash over him as he observes them. He remembers being in their shoes, he remembers ignoring his sore feet from walking around campus because he was too busy feeling on the top of the world. He envied them in a way. He'd give almost anything to have their clean slates.

"I'm tryna get my shit together, Kota..."

Dakota could only shrug her shoulders slowly, before taking a slow sigh,"Ok. Let's get your shit together then. But after drinks, because drinks come first. Got it?"

Justin Cap Mackins- Brinson

JC would let out a snort at the female in front of him as she continued to snap back at him.

“Aint no one else a female. They are young women. They get respect. You on the other hand? About two centimeters from getting called out ya damn name.”

He would continue to stand there, snickering at her as she threatened violence. “I dare you to put ya nasty ass hands on me stupid. I fucking dare you. You gon’ find out real quick that chicks can get hit too if they wanna throw punches at people they don't need to. I’d also rather be a J. Cole rather than a two cent version of Jhené Aiko.”
CdFySTsXEAAINyz.jpg
He’d been fine with going back and forth with the chick until she had said something about his mother. While he may not have been on the easiest terms with his mother it didn’t mean that he wouldn’t be protective. Immediately JC saw red and if Kinni had been a dude he would have wasted no time throwing punches.

If he’d been the same type of person he was a few years ago, Kinni would have already been sporting a nice black eye. But he had a mother who taught him better and a younger sister who didn’t need to be brainwashed into thinking being hit by a guy was okay. Now calling her out of her name? That was gonna have to suffice. He wouldn’t let Kinni leave and while he would regret it later on, he wouldn’t bother thinking about it now.

With one quick step, JC would grab onto Kinni’s arm, spinning her as he pulled her close, staring into her eyes with rage.

“Bring my mother into this shit. Say something about her and I guarantee you gonna get hit. Think you all big and tough so you gonna bring someone’s mother into something. Bitch, you ain’t shit. Now we’re done.” He’d say, throwing her arm away from him and taking a step back as he glared at her.

“Now walk away bitch. Walk.”

And just as she had wanted moments earlier, JC would leave her be. Turning around himself, he began creating distance, wanting nothing more than to find some food so he could eat and calm his nerves.

Kinni
"I slay, call me King Arthur."

Following her the first time and cutting her path off was a no no. Yet, she let it pass. This time, when he had the audacity to put his hands on her and to think he was just going to walk away. No no no no, he had something else coming. She didn't care if she had to sneak him, she wasn't going to let him get away. She quickly closed the distance between the two but...

A FEW MOMENTS Earlier....

Though she and Hakeem had been deep in conversation, and were mostly relieved of their duties, if anything bad happened at the Olive Branch, it would still fall on their heads. So before she turned her back to enjoy her game time with Hakeem, she took a quick scan of the gym. It was fast ass little freshmen girls give twerk, guys dancing with them, and overall everyone having fun. She probably could relax, but just as she was turning her head to the basketball carnival game they had out Dakota spotted something....A tall girl and a light 'skint' going at it. She was hoping it would turn out to be nothing, but the first time she walked away the guy pursued.

"Keem, see that guy right there going at it with that girl... yeah I'm going to need you to pull hi- fuck.." she muttered dashing out as she had watched the two interact again, but this time he had grabbed the young girl, and she looked full out ready to attack. Using her athletic ability, she dodged and weaved, spin moved. Using every little trick in her back...

CURRENTLY....

but before she could even get in striking distance, what seemed like a football player grabbed her by the waist, lifted her off the ground and carried her away. Whoever the fuck had grabbed kinni was strong, and despite her resistance and fighting she had restrained her arms, and brought her outside of the gym.

"Let me go I'm going to kill that gay little ass boy. His bald headed ass mama ain't teach him no manners..." Kinni was livid, and wasn't seeing anything but red at the moment.

"Cool it mami," came a feminine voice that took Kinni by surprise, and caused her to immediately calm down. She hadn't been expecting a woman to have grabbed her considering the strength of the person, and it had thrown her off completely. "I swear to God if you're a tranny I'm going to cry.."Kinni pleaded as she was let down on the ground and turned to the woman.

There Dakota stood with a hand on her a hip and a raised brow,"Sorry to disappoint you chula, but I ain't no tranny. Now I suggest you calm down. This ain't High School, you go to jail and get expelled for fighting..."

Maui Casavas
17126864_1850668691880912_6619637710967537664_n.jpg

Everything was well right now. Maui was still sipping on her water with her pencil scribbling down questions to ask, new words to learn and brush up on, and names of people to google later. She only stopped every now and then when people would either introduce themselves to her, ask her name, or call to her. Every time she would smile and wave, greeting them with a 'hello'.

After the last sip of water entered her lips the lights began to dim and she had to look around because she had forgotten about the performances. "Oh, wow." she smiled softly and put the cap back onto her water bottle, slipping it into her bag. A tall figure caught her attention, I mean how could anyone miss the figure? It was tall and now very dark so it casted a rather tall shadow. When she saw the figure jog up the steps and come closer to her, she noticed that it was someone she knew. Well, she thought she knew him.

To be honest, there were many people that Maui had met over the course of her time here. When he was closer and took a seat near her, she smiled. She seemed to smile a lot, but that's just how she was. She greeted him and put her things into her bag, leaning a bit closer to him so she could hear him. The noise in the gym didn't help when the lights dimmed because that caused a small uproar of excitement from the new arrivals made it a bit hard for her to hear what he was saying.

She saw his mouth moving but had to lean closer to hear what he was saying. When she caught what he was saying, she caught him talking about flamingos and ....stuff? "I'm not quite sure what it is you are talking about. I'm sorry." she apologized and looked beside him to see someone else taking a seat.

"Oh no! Nothing of the sort!" she put her hands up before her and shook them, a bit like an anime character. She smiled at the other man though and grabbed the pencil and notebook from her backpack, scribbling his name in the book. When she was finished, she put it back into her bag and looked at the two. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Maui." she stood and extended her hand to him.

"Oh! It's you Jae!" her eyes widened a bit since she could now make him out clearly since she was closer to him. "I didn't know that you had a fascination with flamingos and stuff. If you want, we could go see some flamingos one day and find some stuff. Lo could come too! It'd be fun." she grinned and looked at the two guys. "Lo, I haven't seen you before now, you don't play a sport do you?"

She felt an ache in her stomach and a large rumble came from her stomach and she blushed a bit, hoping it wasn't noticable under the dim lights.

Bridgette Stephany

While she was inside the gym, a strange commotion caught her attention. A girl got grabbed and carried over outside. Bridgette raised a curios brow at this before following them, her interest rising. She might as well look for a way to entertain herself.

She found them rather quickly outside the gym, the girl whom was carried over has both her feet on the ground now. Taking a good look at the girl's face, she realized that she saw her before. Heck, maybe they even interacted before. What was her name again? Kenny? Kinni? She was a-okay during the orientation so it wouldn't hurt to approach. The stronger female however, she has no clue as to who she is.

Bridgette walked closer to the two girls and crossed both arms, "That was a lovely scene." she said with a small smirk. Her eyes then trailed over to Kinni, "Kinni wasn't it? We've met during cheerleading."

"I feel like slapping a bitch first thing in the morning."

Eliza Clayton

Eliza grins, raising an eyebrow, her eyes darting around the room as her hands fumble around in her pockets to find a pen, her thumb finds the button on the end and she clicks in incessantly as she rocks back and forth on her feet. "Bailing on orientation? Doesn't seem like the best way to kick off the school year. I'm at least trying to wait until they bring the free food out. There is free food right? You don't really think they'd cram a bunch of us into a room without feeding us right? Look how insane we go without food!" She motions over at the light skinned girl arguing with the taller boy who'd walked past her earlier. "Like I bet if they'd had food out here those two wouldn't be trying to rip each others throats out."

She pauses a moment and the turns to Sebastian. "You ever notice how when you say a word it starts to lose its meaning? Like I've said food like five times counting just now, and now it just sounds really weird. Even in my head. Oh and 313-456-9907."

As the lights dimmed, a great number of the other freshmen in the room found themselves turning towards the stage, watching in anticipation. Eliza's thumb finally ceases in clicking the pen as she instead decides to spin it between her fingers. The pen is light in her as she twirls it through her fingers, but acts as an anchor. Keeping her grounded and in touch with everything going on around her as she watches the stage. "I dunno about you but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a guy juggling on a unicycle or something," She says nodding at the dim lights above them.

She looks around the room, searching for a familiar face despite the dimmed lights. Her brother to be exact. DuBois wasn't the only one with surprises in store. Hakeem hadn't at all been the only reason she came to Dubois, she'd fallen in love with the school, but having family there wouldn't hurt either. Especially with how distant he'd been lately. She remembers how she used to get phone calls, emails and texts from him almost everyday. Then every day turned into every other day, and then every few days. And then into once a week, then into a few times a month. Contact between them grew seldom, and their conversations didn't last into the night like she used to.

She hadn't meant to forget mentioning she'd be going to the same school as him. It'd simply slipped her mind, not having much of a place there among her million other thoughts.

A small grin crosses her face when as she pictures the look on his face when she "runs into him."

Remembering the company she has with her, she whips her phone out, opening Snapchat and turning her selfie cam towards her, making a goofy face and leaning a bit closer to Sebastian. "Do something silly with your face! So what are majoring in? I'm Com-Sci."

Saruh and Statton

This is a collab between Aku and I with Saruh and Statton

sza.jpg
She was nervous. Not because the lights dimming meant it was drawing closer to the line of performances. Not because she had to perform in front of a lot of irrational freshman. Not because she was worried if they would like her music. She knew her music was liked. She and her music was well known and received on campus. She was nervous because her brother was somewhere out in that crowd. The star football player that was meant to bring their football program to new heights. The savior who turned down multiple big school offers just to come here like his sister had done, and their parents before them.

She was worried that he would be ashamed. She feared that Kenny would find it stupid for her to waste her intellect and skills on ...'music'. This was her passion though, and it was the only reason she hadn't loss herself under the colors of green and pink, under the degree she didn't want, under the career as a lawyer that her parents wanted for her. Everyone wanted Seraphine, but she just wanted to be Saruh.

Unfortunately, she had to wait a little longer in her anxiety. Though the 'small' acts went first, Saruh had a little bit of a campus presence so they stuck her last of the small acts. A couple of boys made there way to the stage, rappers. They would be first, and then right before her would be another girl..Staten? Stannon? For the life of her she couldn't remember her name and she was feeling miserable about it.

Deep breaths. Deep breaths. Let the music take you over. Don't over think. Just flow. These are the thoughts that the newly turned 21 year old told herself before she took the stage all the time. Statton wasn't new to the scene but that didn't mean anything. She still got pre-stage jitters every time. She always wondered if someone from a label was in the crowd and how they perceived her. Just like every artist here tonight, except the ones who were already famous, she was always eager to get noticed. She didn't care too much about the money because she was getting by as she was. What she cared about was providing for her family. As cliché as it was her music was her escape. Music was how Statton let out her emotions. She always left everything on the stage and gave it her all every time she stepped foot in the spotlight.

Statton looked at herself over again in the mirror, making sure her outfit still looked good. "Lookin' fine as fuck, mami. Kill it." she said to herself, smiling and making her way to the side entrance of the stage to see the rest of the guys performances. She watched as they did their thing, her body moving as they rapped. She was feeling the music and temporarily lost herself.

"Statton, they've got two more songs. Get ready." a guy told her and she nodded, stepping away from the entrance to the stage and stretching her arms out. This would be her first gig in front of the school since she had Kairo last year. She had been practicing by doing small gigs at cafe's and such but it was nothing compared to the people in the gym. All of these freshman dancing and getting a big welcome to the school could turn on her in a matter of seconds if they didn't like what she sang. It frightened her because her latest songs were so personal and if they didn't like it then she'd have to write new songs before class started officially.

Now she was all in her head. Her arms were folded and she walked past Saruh, the girl who was performing after her, accidentally bumping into her. "Oh shit, my bad girl." she apologized and walked a bit further away from her before turning around. "If I'm not back in time, tell them I'm peeing." she smiled a bit and jogged off to the bathroom.

Once inside, she pulled her phone out from her pocket and dialed the first number that she saw. Statton held the phone to her face and waited for the other end to pick up. After a few minutes the face of her neighbor appeared on her phone and Statton smiled.

"Hey, Amy. Sorry for the sudden call."
"It's ok Statton, but aren't you supposed to be performing?"
"Yeah I am. Can I see Kairo real quick? I just want to see him."
"Sure, he's right here. Kairo, it's mommy."

The face of her son soon filled the screen and Statton felt her body calm and her heart beat normally again. "Hey baby. I hope you're being good for Mrs. Amy. Mommy just wanted to see you before she got on stage. I love you baby boy." she smiled and kissed the camera, receiving a smile and Kairo throwing his sitter's phone from her hand. Statton laughed and thanked Amy, hanging up and putting her phone back in her pocket.

"Kick ass and make them remember you. You're doing this for him." she said and made her way to the stage again and it looked like she was just in time. "You're up." the guys performing told her with big goofy smiles on their faces. Statton grinned and took the mic from them, high giving them and strutting her way onto the stage.

"What's up Dubois? Are ya'll still having a great night?" she said into the mic, clapping and letting them yell as much as they wanted. Just from the energy she was getting from them, she knew that she had nothing to worry about. This was where she belonged. "I'm Statton Perish and let's keep this party going!" she cheered and heard her track begin to play.

Saruh’s dream world seemed to shatter when someone ran into her, and she managed to snap back to reality. "Statton," she whispered to herself as she remembered her name almost instantly. She could only smile when the girl yelled to tell them she was peeing if she hadn't made it back in time, and nodded to her,"You got it girl, hurry up back though!"

Her large smile slowly faded as she found herself in a seat a few momemnts later, readjusting her oversized blue Yankees jersey, that went down to her knees, which cover her blue crop top and blue denim shorts. Her blue chucks sat neatly on her feet, and her eyes became fixated on them only looking up to watch Statton go by and off to the stage.

Slowly, she got to her own feet and crept up slowly to watch her performance, nodding her head and getting into some of the songs. She could feel that the girl poured her soul into those words and for some reason, that relaxed her. So when she came back Saruh immediately gave her a hug,"Great job, let's talk after this.." she nodded before she herself made way to the stage and the crowd broke into a louder applause than she expected.

"Well, I guess that means some of you have heard of me, well for those of you who don't. I'm Saruh...." and with that the music begin to play for the first of three songs she was going to do,

"Into the roads
It's open
Bare to your left my heart sits here
This is my dream and its hopeless
This is the bed I lie in yeah

I only move for the gut punch
Seeing your pain brings me such joy
Love will only take you
Into the bed you lie in yeah"

Her set went smoothly, the freshmen seemed to enjoy it. The women enjoyed the music more so than the men, but the men kept their eyes focused on her throughout. As she finished she smiled,"Thanks, and welcome to the Illustrious DuBois University."

With concerts finished and friendships beginning to form, it brought the freshmen of this acclaimed HBCU, just a da closer to really starting. Before one could do that, however, there would be another step that would need to be taken. What was that step one would ask?

Orientation.

The sun would be making its way high in the sky and the clouds would be nonexistent the morning of orientation. There would be a wide array of students as they made their way to their assigned class that the orientation would partake.
The more wild, partier types would have two categories, exposing the students on how they were back home. The new 'wild children' would walk along sluggishly, eyes drooping and scowls on their exhausted faces. The veterans would be going along as though nothing had changed at all.

Other students would be up and alert, excited for the next day in their college careers and there would be even more within that array. But despite how a student was feeling, whether they'd spent the night in their room or simply out having fun with friends or at a party, their time to start orientation was now and no one was going to miss it.
