Futuristic Brøken: A New Chapter

"Are you sure s-s-s-sir? We have some brand new enhancements that are a m-must have for any modern citizen!" His face contorted to a beaming expression. His neck bending in a janky, awkward fashion as sparks shot from the joints. It caught the attention of some nearby. Those who weren't close or aware enough to see how forced and fake it was. How he was moving entirely against his will. His tone nothing but emotionless propaganda.
It did take on a small change though. Dropping to a quieter tone in a sad attempt to be secretive.
".....We also have some projects under development. Please give your name and info to my Director if you ever have interest in a tour of the laboratories. We can...compensate for whatever you're willing to 'donate' to the cause."

Sparrow listened to him, and while she did it became pretty clear who he was talking about. This kid was the performer's son. Oh wow I was not expecting that. Poor kid. Listening to him talk about him being under their control it was clear that her suspicions were right. The performer wasn't all normal. Still it was a shame to be played as a puppet like this, especially to a father. Watching him hide his face she gave a soft smile, he really was a cute kid. She understood where he was coming from, her childhood may not have been filled with sex, drugs, and rock and roll. However, she knew all about neglect. Not that she could say anything, she was neglectful as well.

As he apologized Sparrow shook her head, "No it's cool really. It's unfair what their doing to him and you. You're a good kid and you don't deserve this." In all honesty Sparrow could think of a few ways to at least help out this kid and his dad, but the problem was any real help would require her father's assistance. She couldn't go to him, to them. She was dead, she didn't belong there anymore. As he introduced himself Sparrow giggled and extended her hand to the kid. "Sparrow. It's nice to meet you Yves. Though now that we know each other's names I guess we're not strangers anymore."

If this is how companies are treating their employees it may be time to rectify that. Hearing Yves's story made her glad that her father built her body on a hidden private control server. She wasn't one to do favors for others, her mission came first. However, she could at least look into this for the kid. It was strange what was going on here. Shifting her weight she asked the kid a question. "What's the name of the company? You know that's doing this." She may pay them a visit and see what's really going on.

"I guess we're not anymore. Nice to meet you Sparrow." He chuckled. Watching sadly as Lucid moved off the stage now to mingle with the crowd. God...he looked like some freaky animatronic. How could nobody else see it? Were they all that blind or did they not care?
"If you're looking for the company my dad signed his soul away to years ago the name is ERA. Not sure you want to mess with them though. It's awfully big and run by the worst people. Major pay to get in sort of deal as well. If you're not wealthy or part of the inner circle security is tight. Everything they own is armed to the teeth and ready to obey. Inner systems are weak though." He shrugged. "I've done some poking around and there could be a back door to the systems on the network if you are super careful and can dig deep. Don't really take my word though. They always kick me out too soon and my dad locked away his ID after the last incident. Heh." His cheeks turned a soft shade of pink as he found himself going too far into his excited geeky ramblings.

Watching Lucid get off stage it was much more clear that he was being controlled. At least to her eyes that is, the clear glossy stare was nothing more than a cyber lobotomy. Such dastardly people. How did our world come to this and why was I so blind before? Looking down at the kid she crossed her arms and smiled down at him. Raising a eyebrow in intrigue as he talked about some hacking he's been working on. "Well I didn't know I was in the presence of a hacker? Heh maybe if we work together we can." She reached into her cleavage and pulled out a business card. Kissing it to leave a lipstick mark on it she handed it to him. The card said, 'Sparrow Day, Undercover Books Store Clerk' then below was the store address and a series of numbers to cal her on.

Poking his chest she winked at him, "call me if you want a inside girl. Or just to talk." She began to think about how to invade such a powerful company like ERA. Running her fingers through her hair she pondered it, but knew now was the best time to scan for her objective. "Well I gotta head on stage and help clean up, but come by the store sometime. I think you might like it." With that she waved and made her wagon stage along with the rest of the clean up crew. Looking out she scanned the area for the bullets she was searching for while she cleared the stage. Far off Sparrow found someone carrying a gun with the similar bullets inside. Zooming in on the stranger she couldn't make out his face but could track where he was headed. The Gala, where all the socialites were. Where her mom was. Jumping off the stage she landed in the crowd and vanished in the sea of people.

A man dressed in white with a Ghost-Man mask took to the stage. He grabbed the microphone from the stand and cleared his throat. "Hello, hello, everybody" The voice was familiar to most. It came on the radio at odd times. It was the voice of GhostMan Open. "Judging by the applause you all enjoyed your show. Or were you just being polite? Choosing to ignore obvious irregular behavior. Now.. that's just sad. He is human, you know? Not some vocaloid." On the large display behind him an image of he crud control device appeared. "THIS is how they plan to keep people in line. Attach you with THEIR machines then hack into your neuro system..."

As he spoke the sound crew were trying to work on shutting off the sound. They cut the mic but his voice continued to play through the speakers. In the crowd there were several tech-savvy people, that looked just like everyone else, who hijacked the sounds and video.

Pictures of H2O assaulting a city and fighting vigilantes started flash on the screen. "To top it off, they give psychopaths free roam of our nations without any kinds of restraints after they've been modified! Is this really a future you wa..." Security rushed the stage tackling the young man and dragging him off.

Cruxious

With his arms fold Cruxious watched Lucid perform with disappointment. The display sickened him to his stomach. Rather than take him to an ER or some kind of first aid they would force him to perform. "What a shame." He turned his back to the stage and began to make his way to the exit before the show ended. "I will change the world. I just need to find the right candidates."

"That is quite alright." Xander said, brushing off the nonexistent sparks that landed on him. "I will take you up on that offer of a tour, however." Well now, who knew it'd be so easy to get into the largest enhancement company in the city? If he really wanted to, he could no doubt sneak a couple "tools" in and make a work of art. But what could he do in their head quarters that'd leave an impact? Or perhaps they'd take him to one of their factories, what then? Oh well, he'd figure it out, he always did.

Xander didn't do much when a figure dressed in white took the stage and began preaching to the masses. There were problems with the augments, of course there were. And the law still needed to catch up, of course. That was simply how the world worked. The man was stating old news, and rather boring news at that. He was actually somewhat glad to see a rather large security guard tackle the scrawny man to shut him up.

"Fantastic! Here is a card with some contact information. You can get a hold of m-m-me or one of the CEOs. As long as you tell them who directed you to them." The pop star's grin never once cracked. Not even when the strange man entered the stage. At least, until the snake of a man with the controller quickly approached him. "Lucid! What is wrong with you? Get your ass in gear, don't you see THAT." He hissed, pinching the star's bottom jaw and turned his head towards the stage. "A potential threat. Crowd distraught, our top people in possible danger. DO what you're SUPPOSED to. Calm the crowd, protection protocol. Ensure the most important ranked person in the area is secured." He swiftly gave the star another jolt with the remote. Lucid's eyes flipped from the purple outlined in red to static to a bright glowing yellow.
"Yes sir. My apologies. It won't happen again." His voice fell to a purely robotic tone. With lightning speed he snatched the remote from the man's hand.
"Hey! What the hell?"
"Scans of the room designate that you are lowest on the list of elite's to protect. Monsieur Bredlat has left the area as well so next one the list is lead scientist of the main branch of the company. Please head to an area where a guard is present. I hope the rest of your evening is pleasant."
The man tried with all his might to stop Lucid but would have had better luck trying to move a brick wall. The star was unstoppable as he headed through the crowd all smiles to calm them as he sought out the top scientist in the area.

(Editing! to maybe open up some more interactions. hopefully. lol)

"Will do!" He responded eagerly, his face brightening with a sweet smile. "Probably mostly to talk and read whatever books you have though, haha. I don't have many people in this city I can just talk to. But I'll keep the inside girl in mind as well. Always great to have people on the inside." He examined the card for a moment before stuffing it into his pocket. "Catch ya later Sparrow!"
Not long after he waved her goodbye some strange guy all dressed in white got up on the stage. It took him a moment but he instantly recognized that voice. Perking up even more Yves approached the stage. He absolutely loved listening to this guy over the radio whenever he came on. Only person with some damned sense that was ever on there. Other than the protesters radio stations.
Yves was enthralled in everything he spoke of. Everything he showed on the screen. Instantly recognizing the terror that was H2O. He may have been young but the images and panic every day were ingrained deeply into his mind. Sadly the show was abruptly ended by the guards. Always the kill joys. With a frustrated huff he shoved his hands into his pockets and headed towards the door and out into the cool night air. Wiping his face as it made his eyes to tear up more. It was time to walk all the way home.
This night sucked. Everything sucked. His dad shot up aaaagain and they used the neuro device on him again, the only entertainment all night was tackled and now with this 'threat' it meant he was most likely going to be deployed all night protecting the sorry asses of the corporate dogs and scientists. No rides, nobody to talk to aside from maybe Sparrow again. Least he brought his charger. One of the only things that never let him down.

Well, that was certainly interesting. He now knew who pulled Lucid's strings. If he wanted to, he could take that controller away without him even noticing. A chat and telling him who he is would be enough for that, most people were to enthralled at learning that he was a famous artist to notice such simple things. But frankly he didn't have to be here anymore, so he began to leave. But someone caught his eye. She was stunning, as one would expect from a CEO of a large and influential business. Adeline Steele, wife to James Lujayn, and daughter of Don Heathcliff Satan Steele. A woman who had grown up with power in her hands, taught to use it since she was young. She could be a great benefactor. All he needed to do, was discreetly imply that he was the Virtuoso, or at the very least he knew him, and hope for the best. Perhaps even imply that he would do a piece for them if they would like.

What a dull gathering. Once again a place filled with those who only dabble in wealth and power. Play the game of monopoly, thinking they know anything at all about this world they believe they own. As another socialite came up to talk to her she raise her hand to him and glanced him up and down with a graceful eye. Identifying him as far to below her level to associate with, picking up a champagne glass from a waiter as she walked away. Moving around the dull party she was proud noticing that her guardsmen were no where to be seen. However, she knew they were there, exactly how she wanted.

Bored with this dull party she felt the gaze of a man who had caught her action earlier on. She smiled and sipped the champagne as she looked back at him. Raising a finger she motioned for him to approach her. As he walked up she raised her head and spoke in a cold, calm voice. "It seems I've caught your eye. Do not fret you seem appealing to me as well. Tell me what am I to call you stranger?"

Lucid stopped in the midst of the crowd. Fans of course swarmed around him but the popstar was unwell and finally showing signs of it. The strain from the programming forcing his body to move as the drugs coursed through him and caused disruptions to all of his functions was too great. His body couldn't handle it any longer.
"Mal...func...tion." He spoke slowly and in a highly robotic tone as his eyes flickered back to their normal color. He was beyond confused. Where was he? What was going on? His entire body hurt and he felt like his head was in a thick fog.

"Hey...you okay?" A concerned fan asked. Trying to push others away to give the man air.

"I don't...I don't know I feel." He sniffed and wiped his face. Blood and a lot of it, pouring from his nose. The star gripped his chest as pain shot through it. It wasn't long before he began throwing up blood and collapsed to the ground unresponsive. Prompting a loud shriek from several mortified fans.
"We need a medic or someone immediately! Please! Anyone!"

Somewhere deep within the city.~~~

"Come on, come on. Just let it happen star boy. We need our main event." A young rebel tapped away at a screen containing mountains of code and data. He had gotten the alert when the star had gone into his emergency status and immediately hopped on to take advantage of it. For the order of Set he was to get them a super weapon and what better thing than not only a most beloved star, but one with a high tech control device meshed with good old Cruxy's levels of work.

Though it irked him that he would seem like a dog responding to it's master, Xander none the less went over to Adeline. When he reached her, he nodded his head in respect. "I am Xander Tuet, I'm sure you have heard of me, I just revealed my latest work several days ago, the news could not get enough of it." Several days ago, an office building erupted into fire. That fire took the shape of a heart. And after enough time passed for the image to soak in, a large boom was heard, and the heart was shattered. But there was no piece from Xander Tuet, not even a hint of one.
(( The Suspicious Eye The Suspicious Eye ))

Adeline smiled as she knew exactly what she was doing. Running her lips across the champagne glass she looked at this handsome stranger up and down as he grew closer. Her eyes narrowed and her brow raised in distain. She was growing bored with him as he spoke. "The news is for those without class, intelligence or connections. I do not waste time on such empty propaganda. So no. I haven't heard of you." She looked away and gave a soft sigh slowly growing bored of the man. Those who think they are worth her knowing their name instantly starts to bore the socialite. Because clearly they weren't.

However, Adeline was not one to doubt herself if she saw something interesting in the man there was something interesting. The socialite simply hasn't found what intrigued her just yet. Hopefully he'll show it soon as she isn't one to wait for long.

How frustrating. Not only was she dense, but she thought she was miles above him. While it may be true that she had a higher status then he, her footing was not as secure as she'd like to believe. "I'm surprised someone hasn't told you about it, then. Made quite the impact on this city. But perhaps I can show you first hand what I can do, to show that I'm more then just hot air. Free of charge, of course. I've been working on a particular piece for quite some time now, but if you'd like anything specific, I will gladly begin work on a new piece that will meet your demands." Hopefully she'd take him up on his offer. And when she saw what he was capable of, she'd know what he was capable of. And hopefully he'd gain her patronage.
(( The Suspicious Eye The Suspicious Eye ))

Raising a eyebrow as he mentioned showing her something first hand. He peaked her interest yet again, bold and wise move on his part. Glancing at him she tapped her glass with a manicured nail. "I don't listen to idle gossip." Pausing she smiled, "However... I always appreciate a man of action and the best things in life are free. Alright. I'll bite handsome, tell me of your work." Adeline wasn't dumb, far from it, but one of her many fatal flaws was curious.
Soviet Panda Soviet Panda

Xander screamed internally, but the only thing he showed of it was a small sigh. "My best work is often a sensitive topic. A topic I'd prefer to discuss in a more private setting. But perhaps I can tell you where some of my pieces were revealed. Synthesis Tower," an image of two lovers embracing each other had been seemingly melted away, the whole thing wreathed by fire. "Nexline," a banking firm that had collapsed, the rubble miraculously looking like an old man in the fetal position. "And that archology, what was it's name again." That archology, a building that was a city in itself, had transformed into a formless beast in second, micro bombs placed all along it's outer shell, layered in some places to add more depth. "The Benedict archology, I believe."

"Well it seems that disaster follows you and your work." Adeline raised a intrigued eyebrow, "tell me what reason do I have not to get my men to preform a well appointed citizen's arrest." She shifted her weight and looked him up and down as she touched her bracelet alerting M.I.S.S to her location and potential peril. Standing in front of a terrorist wasn't the wisest thing to do, but curiosity was her fatal flaw.

"There is no proof, they will die, and my legal team will make sure I won't spend even a night in a cell." Xander said calmly before taking a sip of champagne. Peering over the rim of his glass, he sees her press something on her wrist. It could have meant something, or it could have been a nervous twitch, who knows. "Now, as I've asked before, I could commission a piece for you. You won't have to pay for a thing, I have everything I need already. But this will be the only one free of charge you will get. If you take me up on my offer, choose wisely."

"Step aside people step aside. We've got this." The snake Lucid had snatched the remote from earlier sauntered up. A displeased expression upon his face as he pulled out his phone. "Hey. Give you know who a call. We've got a medical emergency here with star boy. And he's the only one i know of who can deal with his sorry ass quickly."

>Hey. Know it's real late but you there?
>Suuuuper bored right now. Heh.

Yves drummed his thumbs against the edges of this tablet. Thinking of how to even begin this conversation. He often vented to his online buddy but it was more like...it just came up in conversations. Not him ever outright saying something.

>And...kinda cold and lonely too.
>Dad issues again...he shot up again before his performance tonight. After he promised too. My phone is goin crazy with med alerts for him now too. Systems down and going haywire, loss of consciousness but...
>I dunno. I'm tired, He's in a big important event. They should have it handled adequately enough. I love him but...there's no way in Hell I can keep up with THIS shit...

A few minutes passed before Yvey got a reply..

>Yeah, I'm here.
>Sounds like it was a rough night.
>Why don't you just set yourself free? Live your own life.
>Don't let the sins of the father dictate what you do. He clearly squanders every chance of redemption he has ever had.
>He's your father, yes, but his burdens aren't yours to bear.

Cruxious was viewing a dossier of Lucid through his mask. His failed experiment. Perhaps things would have played out differently if Monarch didn't go belly up along with with it's CEO. Ryu was as selfish as he ever was with his death.

"Lucid Lentra... with a high social rating and all that star power you have failed to do anything significant with your life. What a shame." He finally grew annoyed with his physical phone constantly buzzing with a call from the same number. He answered, "Good evening. You have reached Dr. Bredlat, who is calling?"

Axeykins Axeykins

>I don't know...I'd feel awful for leaving him all by himself with how he's gotten. Doing more harm to himself than ever before.
>but then again...you have a good point. I'm barely 20 and stuck as babysitter to my own father.
>I need to get out, but where do I even go in this godforsaken town?

Yves pressed his head against the tablet as he curled up on the steps. Hot streams of frustrated tears stinging his cold face. How did he even begin to escape this endless loop of a shit storm? Taking a moment to regain his composure Yves continued on.

>Sorry if I'm making things too heavy in here. I just don't know what to do anymore.
>I need a nice long escape from this mess.
~~~~~
"We're finally through!" The guard who was tasked with calling announced excitedly to the man.
"About goddamn time." He hissed. Waving his hand for her to proceed.
She cleared her throat and rather respectfully addressed Mr. Bredlat. "Sir, we've got a medical and technical emergency here. I don't even think I have to say who, but he's vomited blood and currently passed out, most systems shut down. We need either you here or a recommendation please."
