WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE

"So then, what would you assume it is? Surely you have some iota of an idea?" Then Elsie got an idea. "Can you show us the nearest location? Is there anyone who saw it in person? Anything of physical evidence?"

Elsie thought about what was being presented. If there was no evidence to be had but pictures, maybe video? If not, going in personally would be the best course of action.

"OH!" Elsie raised a hand high and child like as if wanting to be called on like a school child. "The land! Maybe I missed it, but did you built on some native burial grounds!?"

Barney's mind seemed to ignore the slideshow, his eye was just staring into space. 'Hit on me? Hit ohme? Hitomi Nakashima! I have to remember that no matter what....I wonder what I taste like."

While Barney's mind wandered, so did his hands as he absentmindedly stroked the cat in his lap. Without him knowing, the cat jumped into the table. It took Barney a couple of seconds before reaching out and pulling it away. He didn't speak, only tuck the cat back into his hair.

The little alien heard the guy who spoke of hippies with magic. His eye widened as he studied his hands.
"Am I a Druid?" The child asked himself softly, getting lost in thought.

Looks like his comment caused some unease. Siegfried couldn't blame them. Nobody wanted to be a hippy these days. Just wasn't hip. The ghost was thankful this pun was not spoken out loud. It could have gotten him banned from the premises. As people began discussing more and more, Planeshifter waited for a pause, and then he spoke up.

"Myself, being a ghost, am your best choice for reconaissance. Without the proper technology, I am unable to be reliably detected." He nodded to himself, calmly folding his bandaged arms over his stomach, where his other bandaged scar began to itch terribly. It would be a few more months before he could be permitted to scratch the itchy wounds.

"If no one is absolutely certain what we are dealing with.. I could assemble a team and go find out. Or heck.. I could just go alone. Who is gonna suspect a ghost?"

Yukari shook her head at the idea of druids. "It doesn't matter what they call themselves they'd still just be individuals with the ability to control plants." Yukari tapped her fingers on her face thinking of each possibility they had gone over so far. The fact the didn't believe to be revenge well she didn't buy that. "Native Burial ground? So your gonna suggest this is the work of spirits?" She asked looking to Elisa she didn't like that idea. Things like ghost weren't exactly easy to slice making her power pretty useless. 'Ohhhh spooky!' Rin's joke didn't amuse Yukari this whole trip was starting to bug her. There had to be a reason for all this but they had so little to work with. "I like Siegfried's plan I'd like to investigate the scene along with the area. It'd be wise if we some stayed in case none of us return." 'Isn't splitting up like the last thing you should do in a horror movie. Though in your case I guess your safe being the nerdy virgin and all.' Yukari ignored Rin's comment looking around the room. "Well any other ideas?"

Hitomi arched her eye at the varying comments from her fellow heroes. Investigating the area in groups did seem like a smart idea, but what if they went missing as well. "Isn't there some way for the group that's investigating to have some sort of communication device or camera? That way if something were to happen, we'd all know what we were dealing with instead of falling back to square one. I can go with the investigation group as well." The young woman raised her hand volunteering herself and offering her services. Out of everybody there, Siegfried, Yukari, and herself were pretty capable of handling themselves against plants and vines. She wanted to make sure that Yukari and Siegfried were alright, but Siegfried had peaked her curiosity. Were there such things as druids?I mean, they had Barney so the idea wasn't too far fetched.

Von Roma considered Elsie's questions, deciding to ignore the comment afterward because he was sure that it was another joke, "The only location we have is the place that the workers disappeared at. The place that they were working at. No physical evidence apart from what was found on scene, which was relatively nothing." A beeping to Von Roma's left let him know that the meeting would have to come to an end, as he would not miss this call, so he cleared his throat and snapped to a couple of the people milling about outside of the room. Taking a moment to listen to the rest of the room's questions he answered them all at once as they were quite simple, "Your plans might work, but that's more a thing for all of you to discuss. I can't provide you a communication device for this mission, so it will have to be something you get on your own. I'm deeply sorry for this however I don't have any time to keep chatting. I'll have some servants direct you to the point where the machine was last seen and allow you professionals to take over from here." Without wasting another moment, Von Roma left the room. After he did he snapped his fingers to give the signal to one of the bellboys outside to come in, "H-heroes, if you'll follow me." He turned and would lead them to the elevator, giving plenty of time for them to talk among themselves before he would direct them to the outside of the building.

After a quick drive and some travelling the bellboy led them to the scene of the crime. The vehicle had been cleared out at this point however there was still evidence of the work there remaining on the trees. Each of the trees had several markings on them from logging marks into the jungle. There was already some progress done on the trees, but they had hardly breached the surface of it. The jungle itself gave off an eerie fog and had sounds of the exotic wildlife whooping and calling each other deeper in. The group was dropped off by the bellboy in the jeep who then proceeded to give Yukari a small metal circle, "Press this button if any of you run into trouble and don't think you're going to make it. The button will immediately alert Mr. Von Roma. I-I hope you all don't run into trouble." With that said the bellboy kicked the jeep back into gear and sped off back to the hotel.

"Thank you! Be safe getting back!" Hitomi called out to the bus boy giving him a charming smile as if he was going to be the one investigating the forest. Once the bus boy was out of sight, Hitomi turned to the foresty path that was laid in front of the group putting her hands on her hips. A shiver went up her spine from the fog and the sounds that made her felt unwelcome by just standing. "No wonder the tech and workers got attacked. It feels like we're walking into a horror movie scenario." Hitomi muttered out loud and then turned back to face her comrades with a huge grin. "Sooo...who want to lead?" She chuckled nervously, not really wanting to lead further in their venture. Firefly would stay comfortable and safe with the group, not really wanting to wander off like last time.

A quick flashback popped into her head causing her smile to falter and her heart to sink. She had turned her face so no one would really see her expression as she remembered the power plant. Encountering Gundan and being trapped. Leaving Leo to fight and then returning to the sight of- Hitomi clenched her heart and closed her eyes shut. No. Everything was alright now. He had came back. She had to focus on the mission at hand. Hitomi couldn't afford to let anymore of her friends get hurt because of a reckless action.

"You know...maybe I'll lead the way..."

Barney waved goodbye to Von Roma as he left for the belly boy to escort the group. The little boy was actually vibrating in the car, maybe out of slight nervousness to the area or rather, the more likely option of him being excited.

When he finally got out, all he could do was stare in wonder. Barney was born in a land of test tubes and charts. Even in his early life, he had been born in a concrete jungle, never leaving his shelter. Now, the whooping of animals made him feel....happy. The animals sounded happy, the trees looked happy, everything just seemed to not have a care in the world.

"I like it." That was all Barney could say as the wandering hands finally touched the jungle wood. They faltered slightly before following the grooves that the skin had to offer. However this would have to wait as Hitomi's voice finally made him snap back. "Aye, aye, captain!"

"Hey be my guess." Yukari didn't care who she was following through this place see just wanted to get this over with. Her hand playing with the device the bus boy had given her. 'Yo FFE what's up seem more on edge than usual.' Yukari turned the device over in her hand looking at it from every angle she could. "This might be a bomb." She didn't mean to say so out loud she quickly tried to explain herself. "Um well it just seems weird I'm only supposed to press it if I run into trouble AND don't think I'll make it. Not just if I want backup or want to warn the others who are still in the hotel. It just seemed kinda weird but it's just me being crazy I bet." 'Can say that again.' Yukari held the metal circle to Hitomi. "You wanna be in charge of this you are leader right now right?"

Siegfried was silent for the whole drive. He just sat in his seat, looking out the window. When they arrived, he hopped out, giving the Hellboy a single wave goodbye as he eyes the jungle and fog up ahead.

"Yep. Definitely Druids." He snarked to himself as he eyes over the eerieness of it all.

"I'll watch our six." He said in response to Hitomi's decision to lead. The ghost would be their protective set of eyes. With a deep breath, he dematerialized, vanishing from the world.

Siegfried's sensed were altered whenever he was in ethereal form. Everything around him turned into various shades of grey, black or white. Living things were often given a sort of glow, though plantlife did not receive such glows. The way he interpreted sound changed too. Everything had a deep, rushing echo.. often producing small shockwaves. He could already see the echoes of the noisy jungle creatures...

The ride to the location was rather lackluster. Elsie had reflective, yet golden tinted shades that looks to be more expensive than the ride they were in. Upon their arrival, he stepped out, confident in what they would face until the ground felt nothing like solid earth with a strange sound, like a suction cup.

Looking down, Elsie saw the four inch heels in the earth, like it was slowly devouring it, and a portion of it was brown and lighter in color. "Is that SHI..!"

"Thank you! Be safe getting back," said Hitomi.

"Ugh... I should have worn something else. This is so gross." Elsie looked around at the desolate place. "Looks like someone sucked the life out of this place."

Elsie walked closer to the group and crossed his arms closely to his body as if walking through a icy tundra. Eyes scanning the sea of trees, looking for any sign of life. He hoped it was fairies, at least then he could have a pet fairy. If they glowed then they would make wonderful decorations. The others would like them, right?

"You know...maybe I'll lead the way..."

"You know, you do that dear. I'll follow behind," Elsie said with a smile. Though it may have been a fake smile, with how the adventure went and turned the day into a fashion disaster.

As the group began to talk and discuss at the edge of the treeline all the screeches of animals inside the jungle suddenly stopped. There was pure silence for ten seconds. Then as quickly as it came it disappeared and was instead replaced with the common animal noises that the group had likely been considering background static at this point. Seigfried might have noticed that in this silence there was one giant shockwave farther into the jungle that had not released any sound.

If the group were to continue on then they would begin to find that the jungle displayed the sounds of animals however it lacked any sights of animals themselves. Any glimpse of an animal was only momentary and it could hardly be distinguished what it was. There was definitely a sense of eeriness about the jungle. Especially as the ground seemed to begin sloping downward. Up ahead of everyone lay still a gigantic cave, covered in various vines and jungle vegetation and extremely far away from just outside the hotel range that they had started their walk at. The cave had little light inside and no sound was heard from it, however at the front there was the definite look of blood dripping from some of the vines interlocking in front of the entrance. Each of the vines bore viciously sharp teeth and a they seemed to be moving in between one another slowly and in a repeating pattern.

Shifter was most certainly on edge after that display. The sudden silence, yet a massive shockwave? There was something eerie out here. As they reached the cave, the ghost reappeared, motioning for everyone to stand back.

"...There's definitely something spooky out here. Now that we're looking at this thing.. It may be what messed up that machine. You also can't ignore the damn blood dripping. That's most certainly a red flag. Any one have any ideas on what to do next?"

Elise, still bummed about stepping is shit, literal shit, looked to Siegfried. "Burn it with fire. What me to do it?" The ambiguity of Elise being serious or not could be seen as concerning as flames appeared on his hands. But could they actually burn anything? Maybe not.

"It is kind of odd how the sound out here is. I haven't seen a living creature the entire way. Well, except whoever took a dump up there, but they wont live long after. Maybe I'll turn them into a fur coat. But otherwise, I haven't seen anything. Yet... There seemed to be such a loud ambience of wildlife moments ago. I honestly can't think of anything, what do you think Ghosty? Come to think of it, I don't think I've really met you or know your name."

As Elise stood there, the sight of the cavern did creep the little feminine boy out. Despite the bravado, walking into a cold, possibly windy, eerie, dark and possibly wet cave housing heroes know what in there was a reds flag. It was like the ocean. But the ocean was 100000x worse. It should be nuked.

"I think we should wait before we start burning it..."
Hitomi voiced her concern as she observed the disturbing sight. She had thought that maybe there was a spirit living in harmony with the wildlife, but she wasn't sure now. There were noises but no physical evidence that there was wildlife to be lived in harmony with. Even though she stood by her earlier statement, she knew that they were going to have to venture further in. In the back of her mind, she knew that the employees were no longer among the living. She closed her eyes silently wishing them a peaceful departure to the afterlife.

'I'm sorry. We'll make sure others don't suffer the same fate."
Opening her eyes to face her teammates, she was still at a loss of what to do. She heard the voice of the old man scolding her for letting her fear threaten the lives of more innocents. Firefly looked at Elsie before walking closer to the vines.

"I'm going to take a closer look. Be prepared just I'm case it attacks."
Her heart pounded as she inched closer to the vines igniting a flame from her palm. She wanted to test how it would react to the fire. If she had to guess, the reaction wouldn't be very pleasant.

Yukari stayed close with the others the metal device still in her hand. The errie feeling she got from the area made her palms sweaty. 'Your knees are looking weak and I bet your arms feel heavy. Try not vomit anything k.' Yukari ignored Rin's comment and began to study the plant life. She had to agree with Hitomi when it came to holding off on the fire. "We don't know what might happen if we set them ablaze. For know we should play it safe." Yukari felt a temptation to reach out and touch the vines. 'I know I shouldn't but something tells I wanna.' It didn't help Rin was cheering on her bad idea. 'Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it, do it!' Yukari stepped away from the vines a small blade came from her arm. "Would it be safer for me to just cut them up?" She asked the others.

As Hitomi pressed her palm closer to the vines a slight hissing sound could be heard. The vine almost seemed to recoil at the burning touch and it began to curl up slightly and turn a dark green where the fire was. Strangely the fire took a bit to begin actually catching the vine on fire and when it finally did it began to move slowly. After a minute the vines covering the entrance of the cave had mostly shriveled up and the fire had also died off with them. The hissing sound stopped and it was only after it stopped that it crossed everyone how it sounded like an actual scream.

After the cave entrance was cleared away the group could feel an uneasy presence as they stared down into the dark maw that was before them. The cave gave off a mysterious impression and the vine that lined it's walls did not help with this. Not much was visible down in the darkness of the cave, meaning that some form of light would be needed if anybody hoped to see.

Elise questioning Shifter caused his attention to shift.. pun intended. He looked them over, up and down, as though sizing something up. Then he shrugged his shoulders.

Might as well take the bait.

"Class... B, rank 3. Planeshifter. But you can just call me Siegfried." He introduced himself, adjusting his shoulder and neck ever so gently.

Then he heard the hiss, what seemed like a scream. This was getting weird now. That, the damned ghost thought to himself.

"Careful what you burn. Druids are subtle and tend to anger quickly." He was still firm in his belief that Druids were involved. That or a singular plant monster. Neither outcome was fun.

Shivering at the sounds of what sounded like a scream, Hitomi nodded at Siegfried's words. "Don't worry. I'm done burning things...unless it's absolutely necessary." She spoke as she backed away towards the group to inspect the entrance. It was just as unnerving as the vines and the forest. "I take it nobody brought flashlights with them?" The woman chuckled nervously, flames still ignited from her palms. Her flames helped a bit, but not as much as a flashlight would. She would wait for a moment for everyone to check before they ventured into the cave. "Also make sure you guys are prepared to run into anything in here."

'Way to state the obvious.' Hitomi mentally groaned and rolled her eyes. They were heroes on a mission to eliminate what was assumed to be a dangerous monster, or a druid. Of course they were going to prepare themselves. Hitomi scratched her head nervously. When she saw the others leading, they made it look so easily. How did they do it? The only thing Hitomi had to her name was to make sure she was the thing standing between danger and the team of heroes.
