Anime & Manga The Anime Recommendation List

So, I have noticed that several people have made threads asking for Anime recommendations, and no comprehensive list anywhere for people to be directed to. So I've decided to start one.

Here's how this is going to work; I'll update this post once every day after people have posted on THIS THREAD ONLY about what anime's they would recommend. I will update the list, adding new animes to the bottom, and new names on the bottom, under the anime's they've recommended. Note, the only rule for an Anime to get on this list, is for it to be an actual Anime. It can be from this years season, or from 1980. But it MUST be an anime. This means no "Corey in the House is best anime!"
So, with out further ado, THE LIST:

I don't think this type of list would work for long everyones preferences are different and an anime usually has more than one type but anywy to be fair game.

Mahouka
No Game No Life
Log Horizon
Overlord

Curiosity, how would one figuratively have watched almost all of these?

In any amount.

At some point, people will just start listing animes and it'll just turn into a list of anime instead of a curated list for suggestions.

This should definitely be organized in categories to better help someone's search.

I do agree with this, but as Greenstalker Greenstalker has stated, many of these fall under multiple categories. Are you suggesting they be listed in all of them? Or just a single 'main' category?

And it is entirely possible to have watched all of them in full, as I've done just that. Most of them are short 13 episode long animes, and can be watched in a single day.

If the latter part is in reference to my first sentence, you missed what I was pointing out. The use of 'literally' as a opposed to a more fitting word like virtually. It was merely a joke on word usage. if that's not what you were referring to something else, explain?

And while some may fall under many categories, it is unlikely that they all fall under the same main category. For instance, No Game No Life or Overlord or Log Horizon would not fall under the same category though they do share some similar elements.

But I was actually referring more so to grouping it into more relatable categories versus technical. .Ease of watch, tone, current simulcasts, places to watch etc.

For instance Food Wars would technically fall under SoL, but it's actually more of a shonen in its tone. Then you have anime full of action like My Hero Academia and Super, but they definitely have a different feel.

That may be so, but even then people may find things differently. For instance, there are several people out there who praise Watamote as a good anime that should be watched. I can't watch five minutes of Watamote it's so terrible.

I find it easier to just list the animes, though I might add Genres to the list, as that seems to be the safest way to separate each anime.

Cory in the house.

jk.

Plastic memories
Koi wo Shita no wa
Angel Beats
clannad
(My personal list.)

I still don't get how people can praise Clannad... And before you have the usual panic attack that follows when ever I say that, yes I've watched it. And After Story too.

On another note, I'll be updating the list later today, when I get back from a mini-vacation.

? If you don't like it good for you lol.

Clannad first season is underwhelming outside of the Fuko arc. After story is kinda the same till about episode 16. Then it kicks into high gear.
After story describes the highs and the bitter soul crushing lows of what it is to be human.
After story is the human condition in a nutshell. Pain and suffering, but the finding the strength to keep going and keep being a good person.

Samurai Flamenco - like a rip off of power rangers, only they're Japanese.

The show pretty much starts with the introduction of our protagonist, whom has dreamed of being a superhero all his life. Unlike every other little boy, he contiues to hold this dream as a young, famous model.
I'm not gonna spoil everything, but this show seriously surprised me with plot twists, and turns. A bad guy who most certainly is BAD. And... it's just really amazing! Lol.

Fruits Basket - Chinese Zodiac as cute-ass people.

To make this quick, this girl's mom dies and she doesn't really have a father, so she lives in a tent near her broken house (I believe.. its been awhile since I've seen it). But there's this popular guy at school that she likes, and it turns out that he lives near her, so he offers her a place to live with this really nice (and kinda pervy) dude. Soon enough more characters pop up like that salty redhead cat-dude... it's quite a show.
I'm not gonna explain how they turn into animals other than the fact that they cannot touch someone of the opposite gender... but yeahhh...

Those are my suggestions for now

I'd recommend Mirai Nikki - Future Diary. The main character Yukki is a big wuss until later, and you'll hate him until he mans up. Youno is a Yandere, 'nuff said about her. Has some damn good plot twists later on in the show though, and is worth a watch.

There's nudity in about 3 episodes though, so I advise you not to watch it on the family T.V.

I'd recommend
My Hero Academia
Danganronpa
Princess jellyfish (Think of Ouran host club and reverse it.)
07-Ghost
Zombie Loan
Busorenkin
The Disasterous Life of Saiki K. (the episodes are 5 minutes in length)
and
Hetalia (also 5 min episodes ^w^)

Those are all good anime across different genres and people don't know them as well in most cases.

Well, just updated the list.
Also, people... if you recommend an anime, and find it's already on the list, don't change your recommendation. The reason I have the list formatted the way it is, is so that people can see what animes are popular with people on this site. If 50 people contribute to the list, and all publicly recommend 50 different animes, we wouldn't know that there's 3 of those 50 that all of them are fans of.

im gonna second both 07-ghost and lucky star. ive read 07-ghost and watched an episode or two (which i stopped because i heard of monster musume and that caused me to forget about it), and it has remained one of my favourite mangas. you know what lucky star is.

xxxHolic is my absolute favourite manga, though i find the anime a bit questionable due to the fact that emulating the art style didn't quite translate well to animation. Still, i reread it twice in highschool and, if youre up for something with oddly long limbs, the anime still has the same great story that i fell in love with. if youre not up for watching that, i still suggest the manga. The anime does have a bitchin' intro, though.

I've only ever read Hellsing, but it's another one of my personal favourites. A vampire with a gun and a vampire chick that fights with fucking cannons, what more could you need? like full metal alchemist, there are two separate animes for it, one that follows the storyline and one that doesnt due to the fact that it was made before the manga was finished. ive never watched either, so i cant speak for them. One is just called Hellsing, and the other is Hellsing Ultimate.

its been a few years since i watched it, but i found moon phase amazing when i was younger. another one about vampires, but this one doesnt include guns. i know theres a manga, but i also know that its incomplete... i think the creators lost funding or something before it was finished? i dont quite remember, but the anime did have a finale and then an a cute ova episode that made no sense. i cant remember most of it because i think i was literally eight, but i definitely remember that i quite liked it. if its different from what i remember, im sorry. the animation was cute.

black cat was the very first manga i finished, and i adored it from beginning to end, though i found the names in it a tad questionable. the animation is good from what i remember of the anime, but i still much preferred the manga. no unnecessary episodes just to be a tear-jerker. not much i can say without ruining the anime or manga, but its still a good one.

k project was a good one. having magic used in a modern day setting is always something appealing to me, and i think that this one did that in a good way. some of the things that happen in it make zero sense, and the fact that literally nobody questions it is hilarious. the animation was nicely done, though i sometimes found the colouring they used a tad bit off, though that might have been because i have trouble seeing shades of red.

tokyo ghoul is my favourite anime, and im planning on reading the manga... whenever i can. fluid animation, cannibalism, despair, and everyone is pretty much the bad guy, and juuzou. everything ive ever needed in an anime.

ive heard good things about mob psycho, but i havent watched it myself. maybe one day. maybe.

devil is a part timer might just be the best comedy anime ive seen yet. its the anime in kimona's signature, and includes a whole lot of tropes and i loved it.

yuri on ice. the first and only sports anime ive watched. i think that the animation was beautiful, the songs were great, and the characters were great. i loved everything about it.

monster musume is for anyone who likes monsters and ecchi. theres even an uncensored version out there. by far, its my favourite harem anime.

Madoka magica isn't an anime, its a fucking experience. the fight scenes look genuinely disconcerting, while the characters remain as cute as ever.while i can normally watch a horror thing with no problem, i found the entire scene with walpurgisnacht to actually be kind of scary. quite the magical girl anime.

tokyo mew mew is also about magical girls, and my favourite one out of all the magical girl animes ive watched so far. theres over fifty episodes in it, which kind of surprised me when i watched it. if you like cat girls, i advise this one to you.
