Idea Project Rainbow

I figured I might want to possibly break down what happens after our choices and possibly expand upon them. The basic ideas we came up with before are going to be used for this.
The main characters find themselves within the clutches of the city's curse at this point after scaling down the cliffside. (Minor Injuries are to be expected from this dangerous choice and could prevent characters from fleeing efficiently at a later date.) Undetermined as to which character would be injured from the descent from the cliffside. We could put it onto the Main Character, or the Assistant both have their drawbacks and could sway future choices one way or another.

Since the characters are within the boundary of the curse's effective radius, maybe we could give them vague locations/directions to search as the next set of choices. (Or, if we wanted to make the starting items seem more useful... If they took one of their starting items as the map of the city of tears, we could specify exact locations to search rather then vague directions. Maybe even give more options to choose from if we wanted.)

This option also provides less time to investigate the outside portions of the city, and drops the characters straight into the action.

Potential Scenes missed would be interacting with the side characters early from the 2nd Option and getting an up close view of how the curse works from the 3rd Option.

After causing a distraction, the two characters slip away and head down the natural pathway to the bottom of the valley. This allows them to go around the exterior of the curse's effective radius, and avoid being caught in it for the mean time. Heading down the pathway should eventually lead them to a forest, or perhaps a clearing where a base camp is set up. (Or perhaps something else that leads them to the first potential interaction with the side characters.) I don't believe that anyone should be visible at the base camp, so perhaps the main characters think it is abandoned.

I think there should be only a few options here before actually interacting with the characters directly.

1) One option should be to avoid the campsite or follow the clues towards the Side Characters entirely. Although, taking this option should have some kind of benefit for the characters, unless this is what specifically causes the Side Characters to stalk them into the City of Tears. (Safe Option...?)

2) A Second Option could be used similarly to the first set of questions, where we offer a patience/waiting option. Where the characters wait around to see if anyone is around or approaches them. Perhaps even calling out to see if anyone is around or available. This would be a much easier transition into meeting the side characters, and likely wouldn't be a negative influence on their meeting. (Neutral Option)

3) A potential Third Option could be to actually explore the campsite or follow the clues to their base camp. If this option is chosen, I think it should be the one which immediately leads to meeting the Side Characters or even potentially getting apprehended by them for trespassing. I think this should be the option that starts you off on the wrong foot with the side characters. (Dangerous Option)

After selecting this option, the main characters continue with the tour for a short period of time. However, they soon become overwhelmed by the curse, I believe this should have occurred from either fog drifting into the area, or another rain storm which was approaching. (This part absolutely needs work because the curse should have a reason to have struck outside of its normal range, unless it is actually growing in size and they failed to predict this as the tour guides.)

After having been influenced and effected by the curse, I believe the tour group should become entirely separated from one another including the protagonist from their assistant? At this point, I believe our character should hallucinate and be led to the same location as Option two above. The base camp, and possibly be offered the same options there, closing this early branching point, but giving a more dynamic change to the story with our assistant missing shifting the tone entirely and giving a new objective too.

I think the negative portions of this option are repeated exposure of the curse makes it more dangerous and increases the side effects you have from it. Plus, we can show the danger of being influenced by the curse and show how easy it is to actually lose someone too. However, I believe his assistant should show up again later when we are within the city of tears, and somehow they were led there early.

A lot of this could be changed around, but i'm interested to see what you have to say about the stuff listed. If anything doesn't look like it will fit I'm interested to see what kind of changes could be made. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff that could be created in place of the ideas that don't work.

Also, let me know if using the multiple spoilers is alright or if I should stop. I think it helps separate things up, however, I could see how it could also be distracting.
