If she were to Shapeshift into a gun, Lucas will have materialize a bullet for her.

- Heishiro Mitsurugi


      Mitsurugi was a samurai who was the fourth son of a farmer in Japan. Up until he was 22 years of age, his parents and his brothers (allegedly one survived) died, and he obtained a family heirloom: the Shishi-Oh, which was a sword used by the Mitsurugi family for years on end. After which, he trained under the Muramaki clan, honing in on his skills of fighting and killing 2 years after. Around that time, the Sengoku Jidai began, a war between daiymos and their armies to claim the title "Shogun." Mitsurugi was considered to be a killing machine, and it didn't take long for rumors to spread afterward. This caught the attention of both Oda Nobunaga and Uesugi Kenshin, which eventually led them to giving Mitsurugi requests to join their forces, and even being a daimyo at that. Though, he was not looking for power like that. All he wanted was a worthy opponent to fight. This led Mitsurugi to go in countless fights and raids, either alone or with armies.


      To seek better opponents, he decided to take a voyage from Japan to Europe in attempts to look for better adversaries. This was also when he learned about the English language, studying and communicating with people from Britannia, the Holy Roman Empire, and even Greece. He eventually learned of a blade, known as the Soul Edge, wielded by both Nightmare and Algol. So, in attempts to finally get what he wanted, he located them within the territories of the Holy Roman Empire. Once Algol is defeated by Mitsurugi, he suggests that Mitsurugi should take his power of the Soul Edge (and Soul Calibur):


Algol: Impressive. You have shattered the power of this sword. Now, take my power. Do with it as you please.


Mitsurugi: I don't need it. Weapons are just tools. True strength lies within me.




Mitsurugi has only one goal in mind: To seek out the strongest warrior and challenge him/her to a duel then become the strongest warrior in history. He is never satisfied at the opponents he defeated in battle. Aside from being cocky, Mitsurugi is the kind of a person who sticks to his words; he's not all show. Being a ronin, he fights with honor and kills his opponents in an honorable fashion, and several of his endings reveal that he has a moral side. As shown in one such ending, he is shown to believe that true strength lies within a person and not from the weapon.

Gender: Female.


Personality: Cirno is a childish, confident fairy who appears to have a superiority complex in regards to others. She proclaims herself to be "the strongest" on three separate occasions in Phantasmagoria of Flower View. In the game's manual, she is labeled as "9. baka", or "idiot" in English, in an explanation of the game screen's layout. She was again labeled as such in the manual for Touhou Hisoutensoku. This implies that Cirno may be some kind of idiot. An example of Cirno's stupidity would be the spell card Ice Sign "Icicle Fall", which has a very obvious safespot to easily dodge the bullets on Easy Difficulty.


Despite this, she is smart enough to know when she is in deep trouble, such as her battle against Yuuka in Phantasmagoria of Flower View's story mode. She can also read, unlike some of her peers, such as Mystia Lorelei. She can also count (she shows knowledge of rounding and fractions in Fairy Wars).


Background: An ice fairy who lives on the Misty Lake surrounding the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Although she is weak from the players' perspective, she is one of the strongest of her kind in Gensokyo. Her hobby is freezing frogs and watching them revive as they thaw, but she tends to shatter them instead by accident. Unlike Letty Whiterock, she radiates cold air year-round, and can stay awake even in spring and summer. She is "short". 


Weapons (If any): Summoned weapons composed of ice. She's inexperienced with using most of them, though.


Powers:

• Immortality - As an ice fairy, Cirno will always respawn after "dying" for as long as ice and cold exist, effectively making her immortal. The way to truly beat her, then, is to get her to give up.
  
• Manipulation of the Cold - Cirno can manipulate ice and cold to absurd degrees (she once summoned a glacier the size of a large island and proceeded to smash it on her opponent). She is incredibly persistent, and due to her drive to become stronger, she has learned to innovate with her ability. She can summon any wieldable ice weapon, make barriers of super-hardened ice, create structures, and freeze the air all the way down to absolute zero to make things around her go at a snail's pace.
  
• Danmaku - A ritual combat art that all notable residents of Gensokyo know. It involves firing huge, complex patterns of danmaku (bullets/lasers of spiritual energy) to overwhelm your opponent while they're trying to dodge the bullets. Danmaku can be fired normally as non-spells or as special attacks called "spell cards", which increase the user's durability, make them slower, and make them continue to use the attack they called earlier for a certain allotted time. If someone is hit by danmaku, it decreases that being's spiritual energy, making them grow rapidly more exhausted. Danmaku can be cranked up to lethal force, but as long as a fight follows the spell card rules, neither party involved will sustain any serious injuries.

Appearance (picture or description): Aria is what would be known as a Tiefling in her native lands. Due to this heritage, she has jet-black hair and deep red skin (not to mention a tail).

Personality: Aria tends to be slow to trust others, but she's fiercely loyal to her friends. She tends to show off and loves being the centre of attention.
Background: Aria used to be an adventurer in the Forgotten Realms, but after stepping through an interplanar portal, she found herself in the Colosseum. She now fights in the hopes of earning a ticket back home.
Weapons (If any): Enchanted Accordion, Machete w/ sheath.
Powers: Aria is a Bard, using the music of creation to weave magic. In practice, she can replicate the effects of most 5-6th level or lower spells from 5th edition DnD. In moderation, of course - she won't immediately spam the same spells.

Appearance (picture or description): AN-1 is a wooden construct, roughly 6 feet tall. They have very little armour plating, with their endoskeleton being completely exposed (aside from a few plates on the shoulders, knees, and face). Several gears are inset into the framework, which turn when AN's ability is active. Their speed increases over time. Although their "face" has a plate covering it, there are no markings or indentations.

Weapons (If any): AN-1 carries a longsword in one of their arms, but this is cumbersome to draw and wield due to their low strength.


Powers: AN-1 can accelerate time for others, although this ability gets stronger over time. When first activated, its effects are unnoticeable - but as time passes, time will accelerate more and more. Eventually, AN appears to be moving extremely quickly to an observer. Using this ability causes their gears to spin faster and faster, which can cause damage or incapacitation if used for too long. However, it is often necessary due to AN's low strength and brittle mechanisms.
