Fantasy The Guild of El'yssi {Detailed Exploration Fantasy} [Invitation Only]

Understandable, let me know if your have any questions then!
So where are our characters going to be in terms of development? So far I've read that the guild accepts the best for trials, then those who pass the trials go through years of training before becoming an adventurer. So what's the rule on this? Are we free to pick anywhere in that time span for our character or are we to assume the role of a ventuerer for plot purposes?

I only ask because the sign up thread doesn't say,but it does have a section on what I assume to be the special powers in this universe.

Trainee! The plot actually starts with everyone being an applicant and moving up in the ranks.
That being said, don't expect this to be like a normal "school" experience.
Just cause your an applicant/explorer doesn't mean it won;t be the expected experience

If it was a normal school experience, I would have lol'd at this thread and walked away. As far as I understand, it's more akin to boot camp and being thrown into the wilderness in a semi controlled scenario, to give the trainees experience.

So I was reading about the spiritual force limitations. What is considered strong and what is considered weak?
What is considered strong for a physical force user that's a chito vs a synthi? What are examples of the upper and lower limitations of each?
Lastly could I get a few more details about the synthi arsenal that's allowed? Especially when it comes to trainees.

Haha, that is a decent summary of what to expect. You'll have a teacher who will throw some knowledge at you, then expect you to carry out that knowledge in a mock quest.

As for the power levels, I don't have any official bar of what's weak, medium, strong. In terms of Spirit magic, Southern Sari ranges from water manipulation to subsets such as ice, moisture, etc. And healing magic is a common factor among their Spirit Artes. In terms of the Fytali, they use earth manipulation, plant based manipulation, etc. I'd definitely just consider your character and its history, obviously I'm not going to accept some god mode character under any circumstance; however, not all applicants are absolute beginners. You can already be somewhat adept with your talents in sword play, martial arts, spirit magic, etc.

As for the differences between races, its sorta of intuitive. The Chitos are giants and the Thari are animals akin to lions, bears, etc. They have much more innate strength compared to something like the synthi which are ordinary humans like you or me.

Finally, for the Synthi arsenal, it once again depends on if your character is an inventory, knows one, has money, etc. Things such as wire traps, other types of traps, steam based mechanics in weapons, rudimentary guns, etc. Think of a medieval era steam punk mix.

Hopefully that helps to some degree. A bit distracted atm, so if I failed to address anything just point it out and I'll readdress it.

So I'll start off with your first point. You definitely use the word weak in your wiki, but don't expand upon it. Most of your examples were ambiguous and lacked concrete examples. For instance, what if I wanted to be a synthi with spiritual force? Apparently this race is limited to "weak" shows of power, but we don't get a clear cut example of what that means. Could weak spiritual power in a synthi lead to them wielding fire, that in turn can be used for light welding in both freelance and professional settings? Because surely being a human torch would be more convenient than needing a real torch, especially in the thick of battle. Or consider thari who use "weak" spiritual power to enhance their bodies, thicker coats, harder skin. Limited to themselves but used in a very conventional manner to enhance themselves. Would either of these examples fall under, "weak" spiritual power, for peoples in this universe who are historically not known for their spiritual abilities?

Which leads me in my next point, what the limits of what a strong spiritual force user can do. For instance there be sari who capsize warship ships? Rather than defending head on, they use the actual ocean as a means to defend themselves and their territories, especially the islands which provide resources for their industry. Would it need to be a collaborative effort? Would one sari be able to do it?

I'm asking these questions because for one, as the creator you are clearly putting limitations on us. But on the other hand, are not fully explaining yourself or taking the time to actually develop it. I ask these questions because I respect the lore, but you can't assume we have the same standards. My definition of being a god would be spacial manipulation or launching civilization ending nukes as a synthi. Yet I would think making an infectious disease which targets sari only as a synthi to be acceptable. Or for a thari to cause a category 6-7 earthquake. Or for a sari to create tsunami.

So please, can you give some examples of the best feats in this world? Because synthi skyscrapers implies we can use modern tech as that race and sari descriptions imply their greatest spiritual warriors can be devastating.

It's not intuitive at all. I'd be redundant if I expanded upon here, since most of my concerns are similar to concerns regarding spiritual force.

Skyscrapers doesn't go well medieval:
From towering skyscrapers to machines of transportation, entering into a city of the Synthi is often a cultural shock to many of the other races in El'yssi

Skyscrapers doesn't go well medieval:

Okay, I see exactly where you coming from here. I agree there are elements that have not been as well expanded on as could others so here is the gist that addresses your concerns.
First, when it comes to Spirit users, Southern Sari and the Fytali are the only two races that have a strong affinity for the Spirit Artes. Some of the other races are capable of learning these talents, but they are strictly limited to the bare bone basics that a novice of the other races could easily utilize. Of course, 9 out of 10 times, they will use the same earth or water artes as the other races since it is from them that they learn it. In terms of power, creating country destroying earthquakes, spatial manipulation, making infections diseases, solely from magic, these are all prime examples of what I would consider absurdly overpowered. Believable high level utilization of the artes could include things like controlling several Ents, healing serious wounds, creating an immediate area ice storm, a decent sized tidal wave, sturdy forms of barriers etc. Someone who is still developing their skills would be practicing the manipulation of their Arte and growing its capabilities. "Magic" isn't an all powerful entity that gives the Fytali and the Southern Sari a huge advantage over force users. Of course, this isn't to say that force users are just cut and bone earth-based realistic. This is a fantasy roleplay so things like chi manipulation, long range dashes, highly strong punches, etc are all within the realms of possibilities for a high level user of the Force artes.

As for Synthi feats, its spread across their many developments in technology. I gave some quick examples in my former post concerning their various tools and weaponry. In terms of non combative inventions, rudimentary steam powered wagons, the complexity of their city compared to the huts and igloos of the other races, and so forth. Skyscrapers, as we know them, is an obvious exaggeration when compared to the image of associating the Synthi nation. The setting of this game is definitely more of a medieval-esque era with a steampunk-esque element unique to the Synthi.

That definitely does clear a lot of things up. If you want your wiki to be important, then I highly recommend you rewrite somethings and expand upon some of these elements. This is especially true when you describe the synthi. Instead of telling us the synthi are the only race to utilize steam punk technology, you describe them in a roundabout way that implies they have 20th century technology. I won't know that skyscrapers is a hyperbolic exaggeration when comparing the relative size of their architecture vs others, if your wording literally just says they have skyscrapers.

The wiki is still an active work in progress so don't worry in that regard. I put enough information to create these threads whereas questions and concerns such as yours can help me clear up what various people find confusing.

@blep I'm sure you'd like this, but idk how many rps you're in and if you can take on another. :lennymeh:

The rest of you, I'm not really sure what you're into, but I've enjoyed rp'ing with you guys at one point. ^_^
@Mollisol @0stinato @marmar158 @Comet @Twyllvarlais @LokiofSP @Shirochankun @Epiphany @Exiled Ace @Lyro @Absurdisan @LunarShines @TripTripleTimes @Miss Obsess @Exanis

I haven't rp'ed with these guys, but they're worth a shot. ^_^
@Nunali @Idea M.J. Saulnier M.J. Saulnier @LegoLad659 @Axel The Englishman

Currently out of the game on hiatus, and don't do dice stuff at all. Thanks for the thought, though. :)

So I am looking at getting the main thread going sometime between Friday and Sunday
If you are currently in progress with a sheet, don't feel overly rushed to get it done.
The opening arc is easy to jump into and sing-ups will stay open for a bit after we start.
So if you are looking at joining the rp, feel free too! Just let me know that you have a sheet in progress in the OOC, discord, or here.

Azukai Azukai I was wondering how common are mixed beings of races or do they exist at all.

Well that is indeed an element I entirely overlooked in the Wiki. The race itself would determine whether or not a mix could occur. By now, some of the races have too many evolutionary differences to be considered biologically compatible.
There are some mixes that can still work, however.
1) Synthi and the Chitos
2) Northern and Southern Sari (Although living conditions might prove difficult).
In the case of mixed genetics, the child either undertakes a middle ground between the two races, or retains a dominant race with minor traits from the second. For instance, a child of opposite Sari might retain the slender figure out the South but have the blubbery skin of a Northerner.
A Synthi and Chitos mix is less impressive being the child is generally taller and stronger than a Synthi but shorter and weaker than a Chitos.

Of course, this is not to say that relationships cannot exist between other combinations of the races. Simply, children cannot happen between the two.

So will you be creating your own character or take more of a DM approach

Little bit of both. I have a few characters that will frequent some arcs, but most of the time, I will be DMing events and what not. Matter of fact, the opening post is done entirely through the eyes of one of my characters.

I've been coming to this thread several times, so consider me interested! I'll be reading further before deciding which character I want to play with etc. :)

- Is it all right to have written description instead of drawn?
- So the RP begins as the character becomes applicants for the guild?
- Is there any rule in posting, especially when combat comes around? (Turn-based, can only post again after 1 or 2 other posts, etc.)
- Will there be any currency system? I'm leaning towards making a Chitos, so I wonder if s/he canonically brings weapons to be sold in the nearby Marketplace, will s/he gain money canonically for that? Will it have any effect on the daily life/combat? That's all for now, I guess. :)

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. In order will be the general theme. I like to give everyome a chance to affect the outcome of an event.
4. You can defintely do that if you'd like. I didnt plan to incorporate an official economic system. But its something thay can be kept in your inventory and still addressed. That being said, I recommend producing unique elememts about your characters. For instance if they are a somewhat known trader, I can produce later plot points off that.
