Fantasy The Guild of El'yssi {Detailed Exploration Fantasy} [Invitation Only]

I'm not too familiar with BBcode myself (on the first forum I roleplayed on years ago, all anyone knew how to do was change the colour of the font) but I've fiddled with it once here for a character sheet. A little time-consuming, but yeah, filling in a template is fine for me personally, if it makes things clearer.

It didn't take me too long to get my head around it.

I mean sure, long as the info is there and in a clean manner. The code just makes it a nice header so your character stats, battle results, icon(if you want), etc is there before your post.

The reason you need this info is so when your told you leveled up, you can update your stats from your last post rather than trying to remember them or jumping back to the wiki all the time(You all get a character page on the wiki). As for battle results, its to show me how much damage you do/take,etc. And well anything else is fluff.

I'm definitely not denying the need for information. I agree that it will be not only helpful for the player who wrote it but also useful to the other participants as well.

I'm probably the only person in the world who despises code to the point that I won't participate in a roleplay that requires it, and honestly, I've backed out of roleplays that encourage it but don't require it. It's not that I have trouble with the language. I actually find coding to be a lot of fun. It's that all the imagery, colors, changes in the way things look are so distracting that I can't focus on what is written. I'm ADD beyond reasonable tolerances in that regard. It's sensory overload, and I end up finally giving up on the story altogether because all the 'fluff' is making it impossible for me to read it, much less write for it.

Well like I said, you are free to approach it in a way comfortable for you. So long as the info is there, readable by others, and you can manage with the others using image and what not.

Also for everyone interested, there is a character now linked to the front page so you can get an example of what to expect from a sheet, and your personal character page.

Azukai Azukai I take it the template will be non-distracting and sophisticated-looking? From the way you yourself write and the detail in the roleplay and world, I would be rather surprised if the template was 'distracting', as WordArtist put it.

But, WordArtist WordArtist I can understand what you mean. Excessive and unnecessary colours, changes in font and/or font colour or things like that detract from the actual writing. I cannot empathise exactly, but I can sympathise. I wasn't sure why BBcode was a "deal-breaker" for you, but I can understand your point. I know a lot of roleplayers like to put the dialogue of their character in a colour (which is fine, it is their decision) but I always found that to be a distraction from the surrounding 'automatic colour' font.

The base template, no. I don't like complex bbcode to begin with (I have horror stories). Some people really like to design their post templates though. Of course, they would be allowed to do so, but for the general populace, I'm sure the base template will be basic and efficient enough for most people to be happy with.

It gets -so- much worse than that, but yes, that is really distracting. In one of my current roleplays, there is an individual who puts her thoughts in italic, and I think that is plenty enough customization to differentiate it from normal dialogue without the need for bright colors, distracting images, or drop-down menus.

If only I could just be normal... lol

Looking through the Races link, I'm having a dilemma about which to pick. I think having a Fytáli character might be more interesting than having a Synthi, but being a "boring old humany human" might be interesting in terms of the exploration factor - if they've been in a city for most of their life, or training to become a new explorer, the entire atmosphere of the true, natural world may inspire some things. Still - I'm not sure. Not even sure if I'll play as either a Synthi or a Fytáli at all. Whatever I do pick will require a brand-new character sketch anyway, I've accepted that fact.

I'll have to consider the type of character I'd like to play. But there are so many pages of information in this wiki I'm sure I'll have time to while I'm reading it all.

It's -so- worth the read! Tsu really did an excellent job with the lore. It takes a lot to impress me with writing, and I am thoroughly impressed.

I like the template! The character bar on the right really makes quick access to stats very simple. Quick question on the character front: Are you doing any editing to profiles before posting them to the wiki, or are you just copying and pasting what is written by the author?

Take your time. There are many elements to consider be it a lore based decision, combat based, etc.
In terms of the two that you mentioned though, the Fytali are less caring about worldly factors as they tap into the consciousness of nature, aka they can feel and communicate with the forest that surrounds them. They are the most fragile race, but they have the benefit of Spirit Artes, mainly plant bending.

Yes, the humans in this world are "boring" in appearance, but they are more or less the steampunky lords of the roleplay. They make unique equipment and tools to make up for the fact that they are weak both physically and spiritly(compared to other races). They also are seen as the primary leaders of El'yssi since the Guild operations are primarily overseen by the Synthi.

Thanks! I'm happy to know my work didn't go to waste.
Ideally, each person will make their own page so they can learn how to use the wiki. In the case they run into the troubles, however, I just copy and paste over your info and the rest is up to you. The character pages will be used as "personal journals" in constrast to the Atlus and database pages which are the global information for everyone.

Since we have enough interest for at least 1 team, I will be getting started on the sign ups. I'll have those up tonight or tomorrow.

And by all means if you have any questions about the lore that isnt in the wiki please ask. I want all of you to add to the world, so be creative when coming up with your characters history and what not. I am excited to truly integrate your character into Elyssi.

I'll try my best to get my CS up in the next 24 hours... I was hoping I could get it done start-to-finish today, but it doesn't look like I will. I make no promises for tomorrow either - my job is exhausting, and Sundays are essentially pure hell. Still, I won't bore you with the details. I will certainly have the base information up, but the appearance sketch will take longer.

I'm excited for the roleplay, hence why I'm wanting to get the CS up soon. Just might take longer than I personally wanted it to.

Not a problem. I'm not in a huge rush to get started. One of our players is on a vacation this entire weekend, so take your time!
I am looking to get started around the end of next week or so though.
Regardless, we'll see how everyone does getting these sheets out and whether or not I'll have to elect a gm.

As an update, the OOC thread will come when I finalize the post template and any immediate knowledge you'll need to know for your first post.
In addition, since its allowed under RPN rules finally, we have a discord channel here. It is not required to join this channel; however, it will be a fun and active source to communicate with your fellow members and myself/any gms.

As a final general update, the rpnation OOC will be going up today. Once its up, Ill link it here and any future questions can go there or in the discord OOC.

The OOC is up and running HERE.
All that is left is to get your character sheets up for approval, and we will soon be on our way to start!
The minimum number of characters we need is 3-4.
