); the new girl has moved from half across the glide to come to one of the most elite schools. she and her mother are on the run after her father got locked up for embezzlement and fraud. she's trying to find her way with the help of her older brother, the play boy, but she may have heart eyes for the king.- the wannabe; she lives in brooklyn, not the idealistic place for an elite student at St. Mary's to live at. too bad she's not born into a silver spooned family, she's actually a commoner waiting to be noticed by the popular bitch's clique. as she tries to climb the social ladder as a fake daughter of a successful business and a model mother, she struggles to keep her true self as a secret. it's already close to impossible to join the popular bitch's clique, wouldn't it actually impossible if they found out her father was a drug dealer and a stripper mother?

- the bad boy; the heartthrob of the school, the boy with a motorcycle and wears leather jackets. his father, the former member of the Uptown Rock; a popular, top of the billboard rock band in the 90's and his mother, a retired actress, now commercial star. surprisingly, he's never dated a girl, or boy. as he has heart eyes for the new girl, being a secret drug dealer and a secret criminal record of sexual assaults is quite unflattering and a turn off.

Halcyon is scared -- scared that she'll drop dead any minute by the amount of pressure she puts on herself to be careful, careful with every word she says, knowing that something is growing inside her each and every minute.

Halley never discovered what they had been fighting about, but she knows that from then on, Mother grimaces when Father kisses her and that Father hesitates before giving her a quick peck on the cheek.

One of things Nemanja loves is himself. He thinks he's the smartest, the coolest, the most interesting, the most right, the most knowledgable person on Earth. He is often nearly arrogant in his confidence in knowledge, in his opinions, in what he has to say. Reading, politics, culture – these are all a big interest to him. He figured knowing things is the best way to stay afloat – to always be one step ahead of everyone else. His wits and obvious ego got him on top of food chain in the school.
Unfortunately, this kind of arrogance paired with quite high intelligence – putting others down with sarcastic comments and insulting them is practically a hobby of his. He knows he's smarter than them. He knows that he's better than them. He knows he has more money than them. And that, in his mind, gives him right to treat others like trash. There's something nearly sexually sadistic in doing so. This resulted in him losing his control over himself a few times and a couple of sexual assault charges. However, Nemanja is full of connections. Lawyers, journalists, complete city elite – Nemanja knows them all. It all got hidden, shushed down, abandoned. That's why he doesn't respect authority – why would he need to? It's not like anyone can do anything to him. He's above it all.
history
Nemanja was born in Novi Sad, Serbia, as the second child of Vuletić family. While his father travelled all around the world with his famous rock band and mother was busy with her acting career, the boy was growing up in his birthcity with his sister and grandmother.
Even though work prevented her from seeing her children, their mother truly loved her children – and she did her best to provide him with everything he needed. Money was never a problem – and she wanted her babies to have the best. Once he was 12 and his father's band started coming to an end, the whole family decided to move to Manhattan. They had enough savings, and his mother decided to take on less ambitious jobs so that she could spend more time at home. The money kept pouring from records, songs, licence uses, etc. They lived off the fame of his father's band.
He was quick to learn English, and to learn how to play the game in such big city. He started making connections – with big fish, with small fish, with everyone he could use in a way. Always kind of anxious about his parent's money stopping to pour, he decided to make sure he always has enough. He started drug dealing on side when he was 15, secretly, and in three years he already made a name for himself in the underground circles.
