Chapter 2: Of Protagonists and Plot Devices

THE LETTERMAN Sugary_Paragraphs Sugary_Paragraphs Mitchs98 Mitchs98
Bismarck felt himself tense up when Maria got the bullet out of his shoulder; it stung a little, but it wasn't anything he couldn't handle. He blinked when Maria pulled him into a hug, feeling his cheeks get slightly warm, but soon the tears he'd been suppressing fell down his cheeks, and he once again hid his face, not wanting to concern anyone with his emotions like this. But he just couldn't seem to stop the tears, and his fear of worrying his wife remained existent, though it really was a stupid fear. He managed to stop silently crying long enough to just hug Maria tighter, his brown eyes gently closed. Everything would be okay. All he had to be was optimistic and good things would come their way. He comfortingly stroked her hair, then moved his face away from her shoulder, opening his eyes so he could look at her.

"Maria, I....I just want to tell you this right here. I'm not just going to fight for Nikolas and Phineas. I'm fighting for you, and Chuck, and Elizabeth, and Shiro, everyone and everything important to me, because....because we're Llyria Harp! I refuse to allow us to get pushed around by those horrible people who dare threaten us. And Maria, I'm especially fighting for you." There was a sudden change of tone and his expression grew more determined. "For causing you, the person who's always stood up for me, sadness, they will pay." He looked up, seeing Chuck arrive; his brother only asked who else to call, but Maria answered that before he could, suggesting they call Shiro and Sierra and Alisa. Bismarck nodded, then pulled Chuck into the hug. A small smile was on the young leader's face; it was obvious that he was pretty proud of Chuck especially and how he had bravely stood up. It was like even though they lost, they had still won. That horrible man hadn't taken his brother away. And his brother damn well fought for them. Just....hell yeah.

"Chuck, how do I even begin...?" he started, literally unsure of how to explain his pride. Once he found the words after a forty-five second pause, he finally spoke up. "You were truly completely badass back there....I-I think that's the word to use, anyways. What I'm saying is.....well....you know how to impress me. Keep up the good work." He patted Chuck's back, then nodded, moving out of the hug to address both his wife and brother. "....Well....once we all congregate, I say we move out. Bernkastel may have more men, but we have more heart. Remember that."

THE PEST Sugary_Paragraphs Sugary_Paragraphs

Stewart allowed himself to continue listening to Vendetta ranting about her...well...vendetta against William, letting her give a detailed description on how she would kill him. That sounded more fun than doing it right away, he decided, giving his master a cheeky grin in response. Then she suddenly spoke to Stewart; it took a moment for the demon to realize that this was it for both of them. Vendetta was gonna kill William. Stewart was gonna get his liberty. But as she went on, Stewie felt a certain pang in his chest. She wanted him to run away with her...

Away from Bern and her cruelty. Away from whatever would happen in Hell City after they killed William.

It was then when Stewart realized that pang was the human emotion known as guilt. He didn't wanna kill Vendetta! She had been so nice to him (well, as nice as an evil genius can be to the universe's most incompetent demon), even like a big sister. Even though he was over a hundred years older. And even though he already had seven older siblings....but they were meanies. Vendetta let him tag along in her evil schemes. She let him try to prove himself as the demon he was. She could help him in his journey as much as he had helped her. So, sparkles in his eyes, he hugged Vendetta, trying to think of the human word to describe exactly what they were doing. Once he did, he spoke.

"I'd love to do the marrying with you, Vendetta! We can take over the world afterward and enslave the human race together!" he cheered, the sparkles in his eyes increasing.

Wrong word.

Yozaku Ishimori
Yozaku wasn't happy he was on babysitting duty. But he would do just about anything for Bern. So long as it had both their best interest in mind. Yozaku frowned, glaring at Katie, his stance showing his annoyance. He was rather guarded with his arms crossed and his rather muscular figure blocking the door. "Damn lousy girl, gotta baby sit her, better be worth it." He grumbled to himself, then his eyes narrowed suspiciously as the girl asked for something to eat. He sighed, rubbing his temples , frustrated by the situation even more now. "If you're hungry theirs some donuts on the bedside over their."
Yozaku said pointing out the dozen donuts he had brought over this morning. He hadn't gotten to eat many, due to immediately being set out on a mission for Bern. His tone was rather hostile, and stern, and his glare didn't waiver for a moment. "So what exactly are you doing here anyway? It's a dangerous place for a girl like yourself. Or are you more deadly than you appear, after all there are no innocents in hell city." Yozaku seemed to gaze off into space for a moment, as if he where focusing back in on reality.

After looking over the donuts and considering if she was willing to risk taking one rather than being hungry, Katie picked one up and took a bite. When he asked her what she was doing here she was silent, taking another bite of her donut. Thinking for a bit she finally decided to reply.

"I moved here about 6 years ago to help my grandmother." She said quietly. "I just wanted to help her pay her hospital bills, but I liked it here so she helped me open a diner nearby. Really that's all I was doing, I don't have any other motives or anything. Just a girl with a diner, helping out the only family she has left." She finished the donut and looked over at her work uniform.

"Sorry to be asking so many questions," she started picking up the dress. "But is there anywhere I could change? I don't feel very comfortable staying in this around others..." She trailed off.

THE HERMIT
Bernkastel cocked a brow at the odd white-haired girl. Did she seriously just refuse to do what she was told? Of all the disobedient things; Bern's eyebrows furrowed in anger as she glared at Shiro, internally pondering what to do with her, until finally she decided that there was only one thing to do. ".....You want protection from the scary dogs, girl?" she questioned softly, floating above the carcasses of the canines she had killed. Then she opened up the secret passageway to the hideout, nodding at Shiro to enter. She could use this person as a captive in case things got out-of-hand when the Saedor boys went to confront her. She then looked at Masakazu; he seemed scared out of his mind, the poor idiot. Bern floated to where he was, observing him silently before placing her head on his heart.

Definitely scared. Bern moved her head away, keeping a hand on his chest, then chuckled a little. "A strong man like you, afraid of a mere dog?" she said softly, a playful grin on her face. "You've got to show them you're superior, that you're the one on top. Example—" She turned around, managing to kick one of the mangy mutts pouncing at them; it landed backwards. Like a cat playing with a mouse, Bern observed it carefully, then lifted her scythe, cutting the poor beast open and ignoring its whines of agony.
A pause; she extended a finger, slowly pulling out one of its intestines before finally yanking it out; she took it in her hands, stroking it gently, then roughly grabbed the dog by the neck, tying its own intestine around it like a noose, then flying to a tree, carcass in tow, and tying the other end to it. Her violet eyes were sparkling by the end, and she watched as the dog's internal organs slowly fell to the ground. One at a time.

This display of treachery was enough to cause the other dogs to pause, and then run away, leaving Bern to slump down in a puddle of blood, a maniacal smile on her face. Pure, organic laughter erupted from her chest and filled the graveyard with such a musical sound. She took a few minutes to regain her composure, banging on the ground, pointing at the horrific sight she had created, rolling around in a small puddle of blood and dog guts. Once she did, she pulled herself up from the ground, licking the blood off of her lips. Her expression quickly lost emotion and she looked back at Masakazu, dusting off her hands.

"....See? That's how you show them."

Masakazu Fuma.

(Location: Hell City, Devicto Mortis HQ)(Currently: Flabbergasted.)

From their grizzly fine-pointed fangs to their big demoralizing eyes! Masakazu’s once perpetual smug-looking profile became a panic stricken scowl as he hesitantly observed these characteristics, stationing a majority of his body behind the stony entrance to the sepulcher while still peaking out the upper-portion of his head, revealing his frightened eyes that were continuing to follow the one surviving dog’s movements until they widened at the alarming sight of Bernkastel approaching with haste. Before the poor fellow could regain any sense of decency, it had already been far too late as she was standing before him with her eyebrows giving a notion of ridicule at the spectacle of a fully-grown man being scared of a slobbery mutt. One of which was sprinting wildly to the grungy gravesite where both of them were standing, or floating. Masakazu’s bottom lip trembled as he watched with complete horror at the mangy stray, it’s roughed fur colliding with the wind and its intentions being nothing short of violent as it continued approaching its destination. “D-d-d-d.” Despite him trying his best, there was nothing he could say to inform the supposedly unsuspecting Bernkastel of the incoming threat, Masakazu’s haunting nightmares were becoming a reality as each inhale of fresh air became a desperate method of calming himself down, he felt as if his own throat was seizing up at the idea of what would become of him if this dangerous canine caught up to both of them. Would he be able to protect himself or Bern? Would he become this rabid dog’s next delicious meal? If so, would it be a fast demise? Or would it be slow and agonizing?

Soon his thoughts become shortened as the pooch was mere feet away from both of them, using its hind-legs to catapult itself off from the sludge beneath its paws and into mid-air where it was soaring directly at Bernkastel until she surprised not only the dog but Masakazu by revolving her body around and delivering a swift kick to the mutt’s muzzle resulting in it convulsing backwards and onto the ground where it proceeded to be sliced in-half by Bern’s scythe that was coating itself in the fluids of the slain beast as she showed a disturbing presentation of why she was to be feared, this display of dementia made even him question his own-self, sometimes the people he’d encounter would call him insane but never would he expect himself to do something like this. Bern, now covered in blood from head to toe, pulled herself up off the mucky ground and spoke once more to him as he tried to comprehend what just happened. “Uhhh.” He nodded, still a bit shaky after his encounter with the dogs. “So, what happens now? It seems that everything has really transpired over here. After everything that has happened we’d probably have to start writing a check-list.” He awkwardly expressed while rubbing the back of his head, sliding his fingers through the strands of hair consisting on his scalp as he looked at Bern, a bit concerned that she was completely soaked with crimson.

Yozaku watched as the girl contemplated eating the donut."Go ahead, they aren't poison. Trust me if someone here was going to kill you it would be in as grissly a manner as possible. People around here are fucking crazy," Yozaku said as he took a donut himself, beginning to chew on it thoroughly, before swallowing the donut, and wiping the crumbs from the sides of his mouth. Although he seemed to have missed a crumb on the side of his face. But didn't notice, only leaned back on the wall, still waiting for Bern.

He then watched the girl with Dull eyes, barely listening to her explanation. But oh was he glad he listened. His eye widened, he grabbed his stomach, and leaned over as the laughter began to slip through his lips. "Hahahahaha!!! That's a good one! Oh my God I'm dying here! Hahaha," Yozaku slumped down the wall holding his side's, as he continued to laugh. He quickly managed to calm down wiping a year from his eye. His cybernetic eye seemed to move independently of his real eye, clearly observing her. Focusing in, and scanning her," that has to be the funniest joke I've ever heard. At least I hope it's a joke because if it isn't your one of the stupidest people I've ever meet. Which is saying alot considering the people I've met."Yozaku said thinking of the dumbass immortal who managed to kill himself several times a day. As well as the Thomas sisters, who constantly argued, and loved blowing shit up for rno apparent reason other than to see it go boom. This thought made his chest tighten a bit, but he shook the feeling off, giving his attention once more to the girl."You can change in here, although I'll have to watch you. I still cant trust you won't pull any stunts. But don't worry, I only hace eye for Bern."Yozaku said with a slight laugh at his joke. He then crossed his arms, making it apparent the topic wasn't up for discussion.

Bern cocked a brow at Masakazu's weirded-out behavior. Huh. The man would at least have a sense of humor after she eliminated those mangy mutts, right? So why wasn't he laughing? There was some sort of flaw in his logic that caused her to give him an odd look, as though he were the one drenched in dog blood. Once he finally got the courage to speak, Bernkastel looked back at him, smiling lightly as she flew over. A checklist, huh? She considered it, then nodded, wiping some of the blood off of her face with the back of her hand. "That's a good idea, considering," she said softly, looking down at her dress. Thank goodness for the red one she always kept in her closet. Then again, being covered in blood would help with the scare factor, and she could use this to manipulate the enemy. What a strategy. She thought momentarily about the next thing to do, then remembered an old memo received a while back. "Now, Masakazu, we commence the next part of our strategy; getting my old strategist back."

"You see, Masakazu,"
Bern continued, waltzing about the graveyard as she spoke. "Before I discovered the many people of Devicto Mortis that are similarly interested in my cause, I had only two; Rika, the brawn, and Erika, the brains. Annoying dead souls living within my head, but I must give Erika credit for deciphering many of my riddles. She's very bright; it's her ego that keeps her from showing her full potential. However, I think that two years with another person will have given our detective a false sense of security. How about we....hmm....lower that a little?" And with that she snapped her fingers; a small maroon thread extended from her fingertips and flew off out of the graveyard and into the streets. Bernkastel watched it amusedly for a moment, then looked over at Masakazu, leaning against him. "Now, let us begin~."

-----------

Erika was facing a bit of a dilemma; possible job opportunity vs job. But in the end the ghost detective decided that perhaps choosing her job over a job opportunity would be better. Plus this EZ kid needed the help of ONLY the best. And she was the best. That was undeniable. So she turned to Gas Mask Lady and grinned. "How about you check at a later time? I'm kind of busy right now," she said brightly. Already the girl felt she was making the right decision. She was gonna help this kid find his dad and get enough money for another addition to the ol' chopstick collection. The more the merrier, they say.

However, just moments before she closed the door, she felt the familiar feeling of her being ripped out go a person's body. The oddly cold feeling washing over her. It took Erika a moment to realize that once again, just like two years ago, she was in her tiny soul form; a small maroon ball of light, unable to talk or anything. Just....pulsing.

Then there was an explosion of light of the same color and there she was, transparent but back to normal. And floating in midair, unconscious. Her eyes slowly opened and she blinked, looking around.

"The hell was that?" the girl croaked, only to realize she was flying. She yelped and quickly leapt to the ground, proceeding to lay there...

....Only for the weirdest thing to happen. She was sinking. Through the carpet. The result of being a ghost was, of course, transparency, so Erika naturally began to sink right through the floor. And since she wasn't used to this, she naturally freaked out.

Masakazu Fuma.

(Location: Hell City, Devicto Mortis HQ)(Currently: Flustered.)
Masakazu’s vision was completely pinned on Bern’s lackadaisical attitude, still being completely covered in the deceased’s mutts visceral that was splattered about indiscriminately after she had torn the pooch open. Being a syndicate leader, tendencies towards being lighthearted or being discouraged by the sight of one’s blood always seems to go away after some-time but for him, he wasn’t too particularly unnerved by it as we was getting his pristine-looking dress shirt caked in all that stuff, especially if it had just been washed! Money may not have been an issue for him but it would take hours just to get all those stains out from his attire! Bernkastel soon mentioned retrieving an old strategist that she was formerly acquainted with back in the old days where Devicto Mortis was just beginning to rise up in the world and so was Tora Syndicate, Masakazu wish he could go back to those times as they were the most enjoyable experiences throughout his lifetime although he could settle with this, especially now that him and Bernkastel are a bit more close as far as a ‘relationship’. Never has he heard of this Erika, but she must’ve been quite the tactician if Bernkastel was praising the woman for her keen sense of awareness and calculation, she’d definitely be of some use to both of them after what had happened earlier.

Masakazu was always known for making a not particularly silent entrance, often kicking down doors and causing debris to go about the place willy nilly and even spraying some bullets around just for the hell of it but what happened earlier was a complete shit-show and he knew it, he was lucky to have gotten those brats as those other two weren’t planning on going anywhere unless it was in a body-bag. “For both of our sakes, we’d better hope she’s willing to compromise with us or we’ll be short of a strategist.” He crossed his arms overtop of each other and concentrated on the colorful strand protruding out from her fingertips, eventually separating itself from them and soaring briskly throughout the graveyard and out into the dense forest ahead. “Odd sorcery, is this magic suppose to ca-” Masakazu shrunk back to his oddly dispositioned manner as she leaned against him, he felt like a shy school boy after being hugged by his crush, his face started to transition into a tomato-esque red as did most of his skin that wasn’t artificial.

Katie Jackson

The girl drowned as the man in front of her openly laughed at her reasons for being in this town.

"It's not a joke!" She exclaimed. "I'm not stupid either. All I want is to run a diner and help my grandmother, what's so bad about being a decent human being?" Upset by his comment, she almost missed the comment about him having to watch her change and her attitude changed yet again.

"I guess I can't complain. I did walk into whatever kind of kinky orgy was going on between you three, I mean you could see all that sexual tension going on." She didn't completely register her words until after she said them and a brief flicker of guilt passed onto her face before she turned and grabbed the dress and quickly unzipped it and stepped in, not bothering to take off the shorts. She did however take off her top quickly before shoving the sleeves on her arms as to keep him from seeing as little of her as possible. Zipping up the dress she grabbed the apron and started to tie it on. Although she didn't need it, the outfit didn't feel quite complete without it.

Ez Harel

At seeing Erika start to sink into the ground Ez began to panic, his mind running through a million suggestions on what to do with quite a few of them being useless.

"Maybe try and float on your back? Or wait that's how you survive quick sand. Um, maybe try to grab onto something like..." He trailed off looking for something she could grab onto when he looked at his own arm. He reached his arm out to her and panicked slightly when he realized he had nothing to anchor himself on. He quickly shoved that thought to the back of his mind however.

"Grab on!"

Adley Fethawit
Adley was well aware of what typically happened to him when he climbed up walls to peak into houses. He especially knew what happened when he looked into places where one Erika Furudo lived, after all he could feel the motor in his right leg turn every time he moved the limb. He was expecting to pull himself up the wall, peak into the window, get shoved to the ground below, break a limb, and carry on his day by reporting to Bernkastel and picking up a new case at the law firm. Adley wasn't expecting what he got.

As his head crested the window sill, Adley was greeted with a sight that would have been a lot weirder in any other city. A blue haired man (though he couldn't be older than twenty, then again...) was offering his arm to what looked like the floor. Another man with dreadfully common brown hair seemed to be watching the ordeal with a woman in a gas mask. Adley had to do a double take, and if it weren't for all his experience climbing walls, he would have fallen from the surprise.

Instead of tumbling down, the lawyer took a look around the room for the person he originally intended to find. He didn't exactly know what was up with her, but Erika was supposed to be here. In an effort to get a better look in the room, the blue eyed man pulled his head through the window.

Adley should have been more surprised to see the ghost of Erika Furudo floating through the floor, but he already knew she was dead. Instead of panicking, he merely smirked and laughed.

"And you always said magic didn't exist," Adley crows a bit too happily, "Well being a ghost certainly proves you are magic. I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so."

Adley may have had the worst times of his life in Hell City, but he certainly loved it in times like these.

"IS THIS SOME SORT OF A JOKE?!"

Shiro Fujima
Shiro nodded at Bernkastel’s question, “Yes!” She replied. Finally she understood. I mean why wasn’t that more obvious? She burst in here clinging to her and yelling for them to protect her. Why Bernkastel didn’t get that was a mystery to Shiro. Then again…maybe she had met someone dumber than she was? That would be a decent accomplishment by far. She looked at the secret passage that opened then back to Bernkastel. She frowned just a little considering the fact that it was poorly lit, if at all. She didn’t entirely like the dark…nor did she like the fact that she’d be sealed in if the door shut. That said she COULD bust the door down though. She sort of just shook her head and stood off to the side. She didn’t entirely trust her even if she had saved her from the dogs, because in all fairness if she hadn’t the dogs would of attacked her instead.

She watched in slight horror as Bernkastel brutally gutted and hung the dog by its own, well…guts. Though at the same time it had been a dog chasing her so…she sort of silently cheered it on. She still found the fact that Masakazu was scared absolutely hilarious either way. Her laughing and rolling in the blood…not so much. That was incredibly creepy. She frowned a bit and shrank away from her slowly to duck behind a column. Okay maybe the dogs would have been the better choice.

Beyond that she sort of just eavesdropped on the conversation at hand. Of course, she had no idea of Bismarck and Maria’s kids getting captured at all so she sort of just thought groceries or something when a check list was mentioned. Once again…Shiro was just not that smart. Then Bernkastel started talking about Rika, Erika, a plan, and getting them back. Something was sort of fishy to the white haired girl but she wasn’t quite sure how to react.

She stared briefly, knowing that whatever she was doing didn’t sound to good. On the other hand, she had helped her so maybe she was nice? She grinned widely when she saw the small affectionate scene between the two, namely Masakazu blushing so heavily. She giggled a bit and just watched. Seeing as she didn’t know their names… “K.I.S.S.I.N.G~” Shiro suddenly sang before laughing loudly.

Bern giggled as Masakazu once again turned into a blushing mess, simply by her leaning against him; he was like a butterfly entangled in a spider's web, or a moth drawn to a flame. Either way, she had gotten him fully convinced that she was his lover. Ah, the wonders of manipulation. There was just something satisfying about knowing she had total control over Masakazu, and therefore the Tora Syndicate, not to mention Yozaku and the police. She had powerful allies on both sides of her, making her very much untouchable. What a thought. "I have you to thank for helping me out with so many things, and without too many questions."

Bernkastel's face grew solemn, and she closed her eyes, picturing herself on top at last, just after she proved that she was the best, and only her. "Lucifer. He'll be difficult, but by then we'll have gathered up hundreds, possibly thousands of souls, and he will have no power in Hell City compared to me--us. Won't it be exciting?" She suddenly heard another voice chime in; the albino girl. Bern swiveled around, looking her in the eye, then placed a hand on her hip. "I thought I told you to leave," the woman said coolly, narrowing her purple eyes, then her expression grew amused. She chuckled slightly. "Kissing? Us? Why, no, girl, we're just two adults having a civil conversation and occasionally pressing our lips against the other's. Like so." And, once again, Bern kissed Masakazu, this one surprisingly passionate and lasting a good couple of minutes. When she pulled away, she smirked

"Grab on!"

Yozaku laughed once more as she asked him a ridiculous question."Listen lil miss sugar pop. There isn't anything wrong with being a good person. Hell I like to think I'm a good person, although some might disagree. But anyways, the point is if you really wanted to help your grandma, then you'd have gotten out of this place. I mean really, how do you expect to get ahead in life when you live in the city of sin." Yozaku said spreading his arms out to the surrounding area, and raising his voice for dramatic affect. He continued watched her closely as she changed. Still not completely trusting her, although he couldn't complain much about this part of the job. Bern certainly had good taste, although he was loyal, and this girl wasn't enough to take his loyalty. No matter how cute she might be," I mean honestly, look at the situation you're in now. You're just lucky Bern likes you, otherwise you wouldn't be helping anyone. But hey I'm a nice guy, so my advice is just go with whatever Bern says. It's best not to get on her bad side,"Yozaku grimaced and touched his face at this statement. Remembering all the beatings he had taken before their arrangement had been made. Although now he had her, she carried his child, so they be together forever right? She would need him to take care of the kids, even if his usefulness as her allie came to an end."Oh, and I wouldn't mention your grandma to her. Who knows what she'd do to her."He stated figuring he felt slightly bad for the unfortunate girl. Who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"BEHOLD, MY TIME-TRAVELING COMRADE!" William exclaimed as they descended down into the basement. The lights were currently on, revealing a room with a workbench and various tools, nuts, and bolts lying around. In the middle, however, was something hidden under a white sheet. With a grin, he ran up Rika's arm and slid down her waist and her leg until he landed on her shoe. He then ran to the white sheet and grinned up at her. This was it! The ultimate Bern-Fighting machine that'll get rid of her once and for all. "This, Rika, will solve all of our problems!" And with a bit of a grunt, he threw off the white sheet to reveal...

A large disc on a table?

"I've designed a special device that we'll trap Bern with when we beat her!" William explained. "All we gotta do is get Bern to step on the middle, and then BOOM! She'll be surrounded by an energy field that nullifies her powers and paralyzes her from moving!" William grinned wider. "Pretty cool, huh?!"

Erika wasn't used to being in regular ghost form. That much was clear by how she was struggling in the floor, her expression mortified. She looked up at EZ when he offered a hand to help her out; gladly, the ghost accepted his offer, her transparent hand linking with his solid one. There was something in her face that grew gloomy due to this, and she hoisted herself up, now floating in midair once again. Stupid Bern, she's probably behind this, she thought, expecting an answer from Emmanuel to come any minute.

Aaaaaany minute. She waited for her head to be filled with his annoying voice, but instead all she received was her own indignant thoughts. Erika then realized that he was across the room from her. Oh. Right. That meant she had literally somehow been knocked out of Emu's head. She glowered at him for a minute, as though this was all his fault, but, rather than yelling at him like normal, she just let her expression slip to a rather hesitant grin. Guess she was supposed to feel happy about this, but instead she felt....oddly vulnerable. Just like when she first left Bern's body, she felt as though she was going to die all over again. Erika had made a pact with herself not to get too attached, but here she was, feeling similar to how she felt when Bern kicked her out. But she was't just gonna freak out on him; she was a detective. Detectives were supposed to be calm and composed, and she refused to act out of character. "Well, whaddaya know. Bern appears to have had a change of heart at last."

That was just seconds before she realized that someone had been laughing at her this entire time. Erika's gaze wandered over to someone very familiar; Adley, that weird guy who always climbed up her wall to see her when they were kids. Erika personally thought he was stupid, but from what she had heard, he was a lawyer nowadays, and a cyborg thanks to an overdose of getting shoved off the wall by the blue-haired girl. The nostalgia hit her a bit too hard; she rolled her eyes and floated over to the window so she could look at him.

Hey, he's kinda cu--no. No, don't finish that thought, Erika. The detective bit her lip, giving Adley the look-over. Then, an oddly soft edge to her voice, she addressed him. "Well, well, well. If it isn't that annoying guy who always climbed my wall like a spider. What brings you here, you suddenly handso--you son of a bitch?" She quickly fixed what she was about to say, then, after a pause, shoved him off the wall. "Also, we have a door and stairs. Use them."

Bern observed Masakazu's facial expression after she pulled away from the kiss; once again bashfulness and a definite flustered aura. More proof that she was skillfully manipulating him. She then looked back at Shiro and flipped her long hair, obviously unfazed by up and kissing her ally on the lips. That girl was still there, it seemed, and something told her that she wasn't one to take lightly, despite obviously being an idiot. She glanced at Mazzy, certain that at this rate he would do anything to impress her, then lightly pressed her rather small chest against his arm, looking at him with big eyes. "Maaaaazzyyyy," she almost whined out playfully, tugging on his arm a little. "Can you get this girl to go away while I gather the rest of my men? While I would love to have more fun with you, we still have a battle to prepare for and some ass to kick. Hell, perhaps I'll throw in a reward later on tonight." And with that, she removed herself from him before descending down into the abyss that was the Domus Tenebris.

The woman was used to receiving both looks of fear and admiration as she flew; she truly was a powerful enemy and a prize to be won. Of course, Bern had already sworn herself to Lambdadelta long ago....but that didn't mean she couldn't have her fun. It was such a pity that Vendetta had stormed off, and with Stewart, too; those two were important allies to her, despite being a knucklehead demon and a stupid girl who only cared about capturing the JTA leader. She kept flying, lower and lower, until she reached the holding area, just in time to hear Yozaku's final sentence.
"Hmm....? What's this about not telling me something? Something about grandmothers?" she questioned, floating closer to the cell and sitting down in midair. "My grandmother was a hateful woman, always telling me I had to act in a certain way and do as she was told. Never liked her, but she did teach me one thing." She pulled out her bloodstained scythe, spearing it through her sleeve; when she pulled the scythe out, there was a dead fly on the tip. "Accuracy. Now, then." Bern observed the girl for a moment, calculating, analyzing her features. "Yozaku. I need you to get your men rounded up in this area. There's a shitstorm about to occur and, seeing as this is the Saedors and they have connections, we may need backup. And as for you, pretty girl," She cocked her head, staring curiously at Katie as though she were some lab experiment. "Can you cook?"

No son of a bitch was allowed to upload such horrendous videos of betrayal to the internet. Especially when it came to betraying a Thomas. Yeah, that was a no-no. Which was exactly why Anita had stopped watching that....thing long enough to yell at Don to get his car and instruct him to drive straight to the police station. As they drove, she had sent a couple million nasty text messages Yozaku's way for daring to betray her little sister and being an overall douchebag by doing someone else other than Kathy. I mean, hello? He was cheating on her ghost sister! And yeah, even though Kathy was dead, that didn't mean he had the right to up and bounce by frigging Bernkastel's side. Bernkastel was the enemy. The ENEMY! And just by him showing his true colors, Anita felt motivated to blow up his police station. She looked at her work; several policemen handcuffed together. A bomb buried deep inside the building, hidden behind one of the clocks and set for one hour from now.

One of the policemen struggled to get away; Anita pointed her gun at him, her blue eyes steely.
"Hmm? You wanna get away, buddy?" She giggled lightly, looking amusedly at him. "Too bad, li'l flounder. You've found yourself mixed up in the doucheyness of your chief."

"What are you talking about?" One of the policemen piped up; Anita's aim focused on him now and she held up her phone, pressing play. The sounds from the video radiated through the area and she paused it.

"Betrayal. And of not just anyone, but my little sister, Kathryn. As head of the Thomas family, it is my duty to kill Yozaku Ishimori, for his crime against the Thomas house."

"BULLSHIT!"

BLAM. Anita pulled the trigger, killing the idiot who had dared call the rules of her family bullshit. She hadn't taken them seriously before, but this was an act of total treason, not to mention indecency. Her face was now slightly covered with the blood of the enemy (for that's what her prisoners were) and she turned to look at Don, smiling warmly at him.
"Hey, Don, you won't betray me like Yozaku betrayed Kathy, right?" she asked, her voice growing concerned as her smile faded to a sort of sad look. "'Cuz if so, I'll break the family rules and not try to kill you! I don't care how much dishonor it brings!"

Shiro Fujima
Shiro just smiled at Bernkastel when she questioned her instructing her to leave. "Technically you told Shiro to go down into the dark scary basement!" She pointed out. "Shiro is smarter than that, so Shiro decided to stay up here where it's safe." She explained with a triumphant smile. She wasn't THAT much smarter...but, what was there helped! Though, she had of course heard the rest of the conversation a hand. So they were trying to bring all the gangs down huh..? That thought made Shiro giggle wildly. They were crazier than she was! Even she knew that trying to go after all the gangs was entirely suicide. She also of course had an issue with Llyria Harp being mentioned in that line up; especially since it was first. She was still, technically, something of a member after all.

She tilted her head when she acted like what they were doing wasn't kissing, clearly trying to confuse the poor girl. She narrowed her eyes as she watched her 'demonstration'. "But...that's kissing!" She protested, then crossed her arms and huffed. Sheesh. It's like they thought she was way dumber than she actually was or something..kind of insulting to her really. When Masakazu seemed to start getting mad she just smirked, "Shiro likes to know things." She stated in a sing song tone. She wasn't really scared of him at all. Not really. As long as he didn't pull a gun or suddenly stab her or something. Though, currently she didn't have on her jumpsuit, she merely had on a dress. Though her stitches were visible for the most part.

When Bernkastel asked him to make her go away she pouted, "But...but Shiro can't let you destroy things!" She protested as Bernkastel descended into the hideout. She sighed heavily and whined a little, then turned to Masakazu. "Shiro means it! No killing gangs, okay?" She said. "Especially JTA! It mostly has kids." She added. Most of the kids there she knew too, so there was also that.

Cirillia Vines
Cirillia yawned as the bunny girl finally woke up. The pinkette was entirely surprised that she manage to sleep this late! She had NEVER in her life slept longer than a few hours, so something was either wrong with her, her body, or something she ate the night before. Either way...it kind of scared her a little. Nonetheless she was awake and stirring in the Leolam household, heating herself up some coffee and texting on her phone. 'Hey Emu! I just woke up...weird huh?' She texted. 'Are you and Erika busy? I'll be by soon either way to help out~' She added.

Sipping on her coffee she grabbed a bagel and sighed softly, afterwards setting the cup in the sink and grabbing her satchel on the way out of the home. The bunny recieved the usual looks, though she didn't mind, and for the most part people were used to the blinding pink space whenever it roused from slumber. Next stop Erika and Emmanuel's detective agency~. Thus far, the bunny girl didn't really remember anything from the timeloop. Though she felt something was familiar...she wasn't sure what.

Masakazu Fuma.

(Location: Hell City, Devicto Mortis HQ)(Currently: A complete mess of emotions.)
One heart-felt kiss after another, weak-kneed and composed of absolute reticence. Masakazu’s gut begun to convulse as if there were imaginary butterflies fluttering about through the entirety of his innards while gazing upon Bernkastel’s enchanting semblance that was only pushed forward by that ‘silver tongue’ she was blessed with. Yozaku may’ve been treated with similar intentions from the way she composed herself around that bumptious police chief but behind his back she gave the impression of being head over heels for the intimidating yakuza boss, unknowingly ensnaring him further into that man-eating web she so wonderfully crafts with that cunning of hers. Letting out a soft chuckle, Masakazu had a sneaking suspicion that his pampering treatment by Bern wasn’t only more sincere but overall better than what he’s ever gotten, only falsely proving in his manipulated head that both of them had a genuine relationship with strong feelings conjoining their lover’s souls with one another, alas he never accidentally stumbled upon that one intriguing video that Bernkastel and Yozaku made in the heat of the moment and a very popular video at that on some suggestive sites. “Oh boy.” He thought as the duplicitous woman came rushing in to his side, clutching his arm against her breast, leaning in and gazing upon him with those dinner-plate sized eyes of hers that continued to make his stomach churn with emotions as she enticed him with a playful utterance of his name, despite being terrifying as Hell when the situation arises, Bernkastel definitely knew how to create a spot-on puppy dog face when attempting to gain the favor of a gullible man. “A r-r-eward?” His voice sunk as his vivid thoughts of what this reward could be flourished into the raunchy depths of his mind, reddening his face to the point where it could’ve been thought as possible to boil water on his own skin! “Of course! Please make sure to call if you need any help.”

He smirked, having his dumbfounded face compiled with lust and feelings as he waved his goodbyes to her as she descended back down into the inner-sanctum of Domus Tenebris, leaving both a passion-filled warlord and a naive outlandish person alone in the eerie cemetery. Shiro’s pleading with Bernkastel fell upon deaf ears, as she was already far-gone by the time she made her announcement, Masakazu switched his focus now upon the quirky girl who was definitely unfamiliar to him, in-fact where did she come from? Oh, right. She was the one who brought those damned dogs into the grave-yard and made him look like a complete fool in-front of his beloved, humiliating. Nonetheless, Masakazu wasn’t too eccentric about getting into another scuffle so maybe he could just get her to ‘shoo’ off by negotiating with this madcap of a lady. “Sometimes you just gotta bust open a couple of eggs to make an omelette. I’m not too thrilled about kidnapping a bunch of munchkins but in the end it’ll be worth it, not only for me and Bern but Hell City. Only the strongest will prevail! Hell city will be restored, reshaped, and remolded into something far more than its present glory. JTA and these other discrepancies are only causing more trouble by getting in our way.” Masakazu huffed with a flaring arrogance ushering in behind each word wisping out from his lips, ending his sentence while crossing his arms overtop each other while lazily looking at the girl. “Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, it’s about time for me to leave. You included, i’m not having you interrupt Bernkastel so if you’d be a lovely little thing and just go about your merry way that’d be nice.” Masakazu eventually wandered on back to his vehicle, unlocking the driver-side before opening the door and looking back at Shiro, waiting for her to leave or for her to make a response.

Don Hearth
Dante.Devil.May.Cry.full.726577.jpg
Don had been up practinig his sword play as he usually did at this time of day since finding out he could summon a god killing sword. He was slicing, and thrusting, his red coat flapping around him as he practiced. Suddenly he heard the thing that just told him it would be a good day. We grinned stretching the corners of his mouth as far as they could go, as a yell from Anita let him know they were going to have some fun.

He sheathed his sword, and ran through the house. Jumping out of a window, and onto the sidewalk. He stumbled for a bit, almost ending up roadkill, but luckily he stopped just short of getting creamed by a truck. Don let out a heavy sigh of relief, wiping the nervous sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand."Phew, that was a close one, alright then time to visit the good ole hcpd."
Don said taking out his keys, and clicking a button. His car beeped, and the locks on the door could very clearly be heard unlocking. Then Don jumped in, started the car, and once Anita was ready they took off to the police department.

He had gone so long without causing havock that he didn't hold back while driving to the police station. He sped up, going faster, and faster, making sharp turns, and not stopping till they had arrived. With a hard turn, and throttling the breaks Don managed to slide the car around, parking perfectly infront of the station. He got out manifesting a ak-47, and immediately taking out several cops who were hanging outside the station. Casually whistling as he did so, as if this was just another normal day, which it basically was for Don."Ah, it's good to have everything back to normal. Alright, let's get to work babe!" He said kicking open the police stations front doors, and walking inside with a gas mask on. Then tossed in a gas gernade, letting the room fill with knockout gas. Once that was done he assisted in cuffing the police, and hiding the bomb in the police station.

He honestly didn't think Mister stiff was daring enough to fool around with someone like Bernkastel. He kind of gained a bit of respect for the guy, it was just such a shame that Anita was probably going to blow him to a million tiny Yozaku pieces. Don snickered at the video, finding it hilarious that he was stupid enough to actually post evidence. Even though it was from the guys point of view, it was oh to clear the guy was Yozaku. It was his voice, and that was totally Yozaku's cybernetic arm. Don bust out laughing as Anita blew the brains out of one of the police, shutting up the rest. He wiped a amused tear from his eye, then looked towards Anita. He craned his neck, pursing his lips as he held Anita's face gently in his hands."Well you don't have to worry about dishonoring anyone babe. I'd spend the rest of eternity alone before I ever betrayed you." The immortal maniac said, gently pecking Anita's lips. One of the cops rolled their eyes, letting out a slightly revolted sound. Of course Don reacted in the appropriate manner to this, by shooting the pig in his knee, not even bothering to turn his loving gaze away from Anita.

Yozaku Ishimori
Yozaku jumped at the sudden sound of Bern arriving. He quickly turned around thinking fast as to how he could explain."Um, just you know, talking about my grandmother is all. I was saying I never really talked much about her with you. Said you didn't seem like you'd be interested."Yozaku said smiling in order to keep a calm honest appearance. He then nodded, his expression turning serious as Bern informed him of an approaching battle. He picked up his police com, and called in for all his available units to meet up at their location.

Then his phone went off, and curious as to who could be texting him he checked it. It had been some time since anyone besides Bern, or one of her subordinates had messaged him. So when he saw it was from Anita he was shocked, and extremely pissed. He read the text and sighed, rubbing the back of his neck."Fuck, that crazy Thomas bitch is about to blow up the police station. I need to go deal with this." Yozaku told Bern, before calling Anita's number. Once she answered he would speak, while also running to his police cruiser. Which was now so upgraded that a tank couldn't stop it. It was fully stocked, and pretty much the most badass ride around. He entered the cruiser, and began driving, speaking in a hasty manner as he did so." Hey! Now listen I know this may look bad but don't do anything rash!" He said as he ran several red lights, and stop signs, causing many others to crash."Now look, me and Kathy we never got serious, and you killed her before we could get really serious! So what do you expect me to do? Go on alone the rest of my life? Even if you blow up the police station it won't change a thing. I've got plenty of officers still out, and about in the city. I'll just gather them up, and hunt you, and that crazy fucker Don down! You do this, and you're starting a war! Do you understand me!? War!"On the last word Yozaku's voice changed to a hallow mechanical almost static voice. Clearly not his own. He then hung up, and throttled the gas, his crusier bursting through traffic as he continued his way towards the police station. Making it there soon after hanging up. He turned of the cars egnition, looked over at a black, sleek, car that could only be Don's. Then smirked, walking over to it, and fiddling with it before running into the police station, his gun drawn, and ready to fire."ANITA! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU!? COME OUT SO I CAN BLOW YOUR BRAINS OUT!"

Before getting to reply to the half cyborg the lady who had told them to spare her arrived, giving a speech about how she hated her grandmother when the man covered easily for her. As he left she looked down feeling a bit awkward as she was looked at like a science experiment.

"I can cook." She finally stuttered out still not looking Bern in the eyes. "And bake too. It wouldn't make sense to be the owner of a diner and not be able to cook right? I mean what kinda shitty... diner service... Is that?" She began to trail off as her eyes fell on the scythe, suddenly fearful again. Only rather than ramble this time, she went dead silent.

Anita chuckled as Don laughed at her killing the police officer and declaring his loyalty; she returned the brief kiss, pulling away with a slight grin as she looked back at the captives they had gathered. This was pretty damn impressive, especially seeing as the cyborg had planned this in such a short time span. However, soon she felt Yozaku's presence creep up behind her; Anita looked back at her fiancé and kissed him on the cheek. "Don, you keep watch on the prisoners for now. I'll call you if you need me," she said before walking up to the area Yozaku was in. Hiding behind a wall, she got out a smoke bomb, tossing it in the direction of Yozaku. She thus took the chance to run into the scene and take his gun from his holster. When the smoke cleared, Anita had both her arm (gun mode) and Yozaku's gun pointed at him. "Hey, Yozaku! You fucked up! Prepare to die!" she chirped, before beginning to shoot at the police chief as she continued her little monologue.

"You see, 'Zaku, you broke a sacred rule of the Thomas family, and that rule is to betray us. By fucking Bernkastel and posting it online, you are directly telling us that you would gladly allow Kathy's ghost soul to get kidnapped and sold on the black market as a slave." Anita's face grew dead serious; she stopped shooting for a moment, obviously upset by this. "All I can say is, how. Fucking. Could you?! I've known some douchebags in my life, but that just about tops it. And you!" She pointed an accusing finger at him, her eyes welling up with angry tears. "You were the guy with common sense! The one that Kathy loved! You betrayed her! You betrayed US! ALL OF US, YOU SON OF A BITCH!" she screamed, shooting at him once more. She would keep attacking until she ran out of bullets. This was war. This was what happened when you messed with Anita Thomas, daughter of the most esteemed weapons company in Hell City.

Fuck yeah Thomas family.

Don, and Yozaku
Don smiled as Anita went off to greet Yozaku. Leaving him to watch over the cops."Alright, just don't kill him to badly,"He said lovingly watching her go off to fight their former police friend. Don's expression then turned sadistic, as he looked at the cops. All of whom seemed to be shaking, or sweating nervously. He sat up, cracking his knuckles,"Alright, how's about we pass the time with a little bit of duck, duck, goose. The loser gets a limb removed," Don said with a friendly yet somehow psychotic smile. It was clear he wasn't going to uncuff them for this game.

The first thing Yozaku saw as he entered the police station was just how empty it was. Besides the dead bodies, it was clear Anita, and Don had been here. God those two were way crazier than he remembered. But they'd been out of action for a year, so it only made sense that they'd really cut loose. Yozaku turned around as a smoke bomb was suddenly tossed at him. He coughed as his vision was cut off, quickly he turned on his thermal vision for his cybernetic eye. Then aimed his pistol at Anita, once the smoke was clear it seemed that Anita had stolen Yozaku's other pistol. So now they both had a pistol, and a cybernetic arm on each other."Well, looks like we're at a-Oh fuck!"
Yozaku yelled as he leapt over a counter to avoid Anita's hellfire of bullets. He layed low on to the floor as she continues shooting. Listening to her bitching, and nagging about some family code."What the fuck does who I'm fucking matter to you! My ties to your family died with Kathy! As for her soul whatever bullshit you want to believe in is your business, but I'm sure her souls long gone to the next realm. If there is one!"He yelled from behind the counter, guns still drawn.

Yozaku shot up as Anita once again accused him of betraying them, even bringing up Kathy. He trained his guns on her, eyes clearly filled with rage. Sparks shot out of his ear, and his voice once against returned to that cold, metallic, staticy voice."Who the hell are you to talk about betrayal!!! You're the reason Kathy's dead! If she loved me so much why didn't she let me know what she was doing!? Why did she hide it from me! Why did she go and die on me!!!"Yozaku roared quite literally as he began firing a volly of bullets at Anita. So full of rage that he no longer cared who was injured by his attack. He was done with the Anita, with Don, with all of their damn family! Fuck the Thomas family! They'd only ever brought him heartache, and the girl he loved was no longer around. This thought suddenly caused his heart to ache, and he found himself wondering if he still loved Kathy."What?"
The robotic voice spoke in his mind, as he continued to fire."Of course not, we have Bern now. What good is our affectionate for the dead?"Suddenly Yozaku's voice could be heard, arguing with the robotic voice."He's wrong! This is all wrong! Anita is our friend! Our family!"

"Then why did she kill Kathy? Our former lover?"

"She had no choice! Kathy...Had gone to the dark side...But we still loved her! We still do! If we keep doing what we're doing then we'll be dishonoring her memory! Besides Bern doesn't love us! She just wants to use us!"

"SO WHAT DOES THAT MATTER!? We have everything we've ever wanted! Power! Love! Even if it's not true! She still bears our child! We cannot leave her now!"

"You don't have to do this, WE don't have to do this."

Suddenly Yozaku was grabbing his head, as Sparks began to fly violently from his head."Ahh get out of my head!!! Stop! I don't want to do this!!! Arggghhh!!!"Yozaku roared and he was suddenly glowing with electricity. Then his body went limp, and he fell to the floor unconscious. His hand reaching out to Anita,"Help...Me, please..."
